WASHINGTON (CNN) – John McCain is using his weekly radio address today to continue to attack his opponent, Barack Obama, as a celebrity.
“The Democratic National Convention is just a couple of weeks away. It was four years ago, at the same gathering, that America heard a fine speech from an Illinois state senator named Barack Obama. He's done pretty well for himself since then. And the smart money in Denver is on another celebrated performance,” says McCain in the recorded address.
“But even the most stirring speeches are easily forgotten when they're short on content. Taking in my opponent's performances is a little like watching a big summer blockbuster, and an hour in realizing that all the best scenes were in the trailer you saw last fall. In the way of running mates, Senator Obama should consider someone with a knack for brevity and directness, to balance the ticket,” adds the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.
The McCain campaign first termed Obama a celebrity in a television campaign commercial over a week ago. Since then it appears to have become a theme with the campaign, showing up in a number of ads.
In the radio address, McCain also criticizes Obama’s energy policies and touting his own, saying “a serious energy plan involves a lot more yeses than nos. And that is why I say yes to drilling, here and now. Yes to 45 more nuclear power plants to provide our country with electricity. Yes to clean coal technology, so that we can create jobs and use America's most abundant resource. Yes to renewable energy sources, so that we can shift away from petroleum over the long term. Yes to a break from the federal gasoline tax, so that our government helps you in a time of need instead of just adding to your costs. In short, yes to all of the above - to a bold plan for achieving energy independence that starts today.”
McCain heads to Las Vegas later today, to address the annual convention of the Disabled Americans Veterans.

No one wants to continue listening to mccann & his false accusations about Obama-why don't he just go somewhere and live out the rest of his life doing something constructive instead of being a "grandpa" out to be a president-for what-all his friends are old just look at them when they are surrounding him they all are old men,all of them,we need new and lively people to run this country-just because he was a prisoner of war for 5yrs -so that is telling me that for 5yrs he did not fight , so just for him being a prisoner of war and he was not the only POW so that donot make him a fit person to run this country-for 5yrs he was a POW & was out of the war to me they did him a favor to be a POW. McCain is a petty, jealous old man with a mean temper. He has no plans, and just promises that because he is old he holds the secrets to the universe – such as bringing peace to the Middle East, to win wars, and to fix our economy – he tells us no answers, just if he is elected he would do all of that. McCain has nothing to say unless he is talking about Obama – frankly, I think he is infatuated with him.
McCain doesn't have to worry about content in his speeches because nobody's listening.
Senior citizen McCain does a nice job reading the speeches that are prepared for him by others, even though I wish he would not make it quite so obvious, like stopping in mid-sentence for the phrase to continue on the next page. But as he gets hopelessly befuddled as soon as he is asked a question, I wonder how he would to in an actual debate without crib sheets. I suppose they will have to find a way to provide him with answers.
Does Macain have anything better to offer the American citizens? His personal attacks really are childish and offers no solutions to the Americans.

John McCain is the biggest hypocrite there is. Sadly to say John McCain has become John McComplain. You know when attacks on character and using Britney Spears and Paris Hilton things are getting desperate. You know when you are losing when your message is lost. For a so-called maverick who promised a clean fight based solely on the issues John McCain certainly isn’t living up to his promises. That raises the question: If McCain can’t keep a simple promise like a clean fight, how do you expect him to keep the harder promises like not raising taxes or pushing for cleaner energy?
Going negative is not going to help McCain at all, he is just showing how desperate he really is and that he has nothing else to offer. I could see the Republican National Committee going negative but McCain going negative clearly shows his desperation. The only thing that will help him is to start praying, not that he is going to be the next President, but that he will he healthy and not go Senile or get Dementia before 2016 when Obama leaves office.
What were Republicans thinking picking McCain as the nominee out of all the choices they had. They are suppose to be about family values but McCain left his first wife and children for a woman young enough to be his daughter (Cindy McCain), he is almost 18 years older than Mrs. McCain. Also Mrs. McCain owns some of the largest beer distribution companies in the US, just more good republican family values I guess. Also with all the plastic surgery Mrs. McCain has had she would be a better candidate for Barbie than the first lady of the United Sates. What a great example to set for our young girls Mrs. McCain.

I voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004. As we know, we have been misled and lied to and the country has taken a giant turn for the worse. This election is more than voting for Obama or McCain. This is about doing what is right. McCain does not act presidential. He lies and makes up ads that have no truth to them. He insults the intelligence of the American people. He has no guts to stand up for himself and his own principles but lets himself be guided by the same backroom mudslinging Washington politicians. Wake up America! I do not like liberal ideas and believe in less government, but we can not take another 4 years of a Republican president with the same large cast of administrators who will only continue the bankrupt policies of these last 8 years.
