Obama slams McCain in official Democratic radio address

Obama's Democratic radio address is his first since becoming presumptive nominee.
Obama's Democratic radio address is his first since becoming presumptive nominee.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Barack Obama is contrasting Iraq’s budget surplus and America’s budget deficit as one of the reasons a change is needed in Washington.

The Senator from Illinois makes the comments in today’s Democratic Radio Address. It's the first time he’s delivered the weekly address since becoming his party’s presumptive presidential nominee.

“We learned this week was that the Iraqi government now has a $79 billion budget surplus thanks to their windfall oil profits. And while this Iraqi money sits in American banks, American taxpayers continue to spend $10 billion a month to defend and rebuild Iraq. That’s right. America faces a huge budget deficit. Iraq has a surplus,” says Obama.

“Now, Senator McCain promises to continue President Bush’s open-ended commitment to the war in Iraq, while refusing to pressure Iraqis to take responsibility for their own country. Let me be clear: we are well over five years into a war in a country that had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks.

"Our brave men and women in uniform have completed every mission they’ve been given. Our country has spent nearly a trillion dollars in Iraq, even as our schools are under funded, our roads and bridges are crumbling, and the cost of everything from groceries to a gallon of gas is soaring,” adds Obama in the remarks, which were released prior to delivery.

Obama says in the address that “the American people are worse off than they were eight years ago” and that the choice the presidential election between him and presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain could not be clearer.

Obama is telling the truth and Republicans continue to t tell lies. What is the choice of Americans? Truth or lie?

Not only the Iraq has a surplus but the companies and Bush-McCain-Cheney camp too make profit and surplus. But American Tax payers are screwedup and bilked billions from them.

Will CNN publish the companies or businesses connected with this Iraq invasion?

Will CNN publish the Bush-Cheney-McCain connection with those companies businesses for the best interest of the Americans?

We can check the balance sheets of those companies and understand how much money Bush camp made out of this war based on lies!

Barack Hussein Obama knows just enough about the United States to fill a Thimble. Obama doesn't even belong in this campaign. His speeches are full of EMPTY promises and the words 'Hope and Change'.....??????? Threre is nothing wrong with this Great Nation, regardless of how his militant wife feels about it and all of his personal complaints. God help this Country when Voters place their future and security into the hands of this unqualified, unknown, inexperienced man that this Nation STILL knows absolutely NOTHING!!! When asked about his Grandmother, BHO claimed he couldn't find her or didn't know where she was in Hawaii. Wonder if he will be able to find her now that he's on vacation in Hawaii? Voters, get wise about this Fraud!!!

Talk, talk, talk...... Obama is so full of hot air it's pathetic. We have been pretty well off for 7 plus years under Bush, then the economy makes a cyclical change as always. Oil and gas are coming down now too, so it must be because of Obama!!

There is probably a lot of truth in what Obama is saying, but the issue is we do not trust him. He is the typical "slick politician" saying all the magic words we want to hear to get elected.

  12. Hillary supporter backing McCain

Puleeze! Go back and take a look at how the press treated Obama, all the magazine covers that had an aura of light or halo over him and you can see why. Obama is a crybaby. It wasn't a problem when these magazines came out – why now? Didn't Obama send out a leaflet in one of his campaign states standing in front of huge cross? This is nothing more than the Obama campaign not liking the ad that called it as it was portrayed for so long.

Go get 'em Obama!!! It's about time you started to SLAM that old, winkled man. And I can say that because I'm 64 and a former republican! McCain has had 26 years to change this country and voted 96% of the time with Bush. Do you think old dogs can be taught new tricks? Not old dog McCain! GO OBAMA ! !

We are well beyond "worse off" than we were 8 years ago. This country's war policy is doing more to destroy America than terrorists could ever hope to accomplish on their own.

It is not only the daily cost of funding this war and the american lives lost. The huge increases in oil prices and the tremendous price increases of everything from energy to food are a direct result of this war,are bankrupting businesses and people all across this country. The housing and mortgage crisis is another consequence of this war as these price increases have made it almost impossible for far too many people to pay their mortgages since it simply costs too much for everything else.

If McCain wants to talk about the "success of the surge" then he is right, the "surge" in oil prices and the "surge" in the cost of everything across the board has been extremly "successful"....for the terrorists and those who would attack america. Our own policy about this unconscienable war in Iraq has done more to destroy america and hurt americans than our enemies could have accomplished in a hundred years!

American would have been very supportive of any war in the pursuit of Bin Laden but this war is simply "Bush's follies" and to continue to do the wrong thing and the most damaging thing to America and americans is sheer lunacy!

We all know change is needed, the majority of us just don't happen to think Obama is the one to bring it about. Maybe if he'd shown ANY accomplishments of worth during his political career, we'd be able to embrace his "Change You Can Believe In" motto. He'd really do well to start being explicit about his plans for change and tell us how he'll take care of these problems, instead of listing everything that is wrong, and blaming McCain. Oh, I'm sorry, "slamming" McCain. That's right, the weakest candidate in decades now "hits", "slams", and "pounds" his opponent. All verbs intentionally used by MSM to make this weakling appear as though he's strong and a real ball-buster. I, among millions, am disgusted that all this guy can do is denigrate McCain (just as he did Hillary throughout the primaries). Come on, Obama, give us some substance, some meat-and-potatoes about how you'll accomplish your goals, instead of constantly complaining about how bad it all is. We KNOW how bad it is! Just tell us HOW you'll correct it.

  23. USA FOR OBAMA

Barack Obama is the only choice for someone that can lead the country and help bring peace to other countries. He has moral values and integrity. He loves his family and the USA. He will be able to lower gas prices, turn the housing market around, create jobs and bring our wonderful military home. Barack Obama is a leader.

John McCain has no moral vaules or integrity. I don't know if his first wife is still alive. I have heard after a real horrible car wreak he started having an affair with Cindy. Then divorced his first wife while she was still hurt and disfigured and married Cindy and her money a few months later. God forbid we elect someone like this to run the country. John McCain is two faced with a horrible temper, angry, and he is a mean spirited person.

Barack Obama is a breath of fresh air. He is like a Spring morning after it rains.
