McCain VP buzz starts at the airport

Tom Ridge will be hitting the campaign trail with John McCain this week.
Tom Ridge will be hitting the campaign trail with John McCain this week.

(CNN) - Sen. John McCain spends the next two days campaigning through Pennsylvania with the state’s former Gov. Tom Ridge at his side.

Anytime McCain appears with someone that might be on his vice presidential shortlist, it stirs up a whole new round of speculation. And as Pennsylvania is a key battleground state, Ridge is getting plenty of attention.

Ridge, a former Homeland Security Secretary, grew up in Erie and begin his political career in the northwest Pennsylvania city where the McCain tour begins.

And if the presumptive Republican nominee needed any reminder of Ridge’s prominence, he’ll get it the moment his plane sets down. The Erie International Airport where McCain lands late Sunday afternoon is also named “Tom Ridge Field” in the hometown politico’s honor.

McCain, spend to much time being negative toward Obama
than talking straight talk how he is going to fix ours economy.
He is using Obama as bait to avoid talking about locate issues.
Now he is using the Russia and Georgia situation to avoid
issues american peoples want to here.

Tom Ridge would make a very credable Vice President. He's got integrity and there is no doubting his patriotism.

Dirty campaign by McCain and the news media and the republican
leader. Most the media are republican that are reporting the news.
I don't understand is why everyone is picking on Obama, this is
the same tactic done in the primary,it's just the republican are good
at attacking and being negative.McCain you do by yourself, why do
you need the media help. The media has a lot to do with election
outcomes. I think it is so wrong for the media to be negative toward
only one candidates when their are two trying to get elected to office.
Please address this to ours public who are listening to cnn network.
Let be fair about this because the voter spends lots of money for
their candidates to see the news media destroy with negative interviews with guest.

I will vote for McCain/Ridge, but Governor Ridge may need to get an effective hear aid for him to be more responsive in public. It's tough getting older, but that's the beauty of life.

Ridge is another Bush cronie just like McCain and more proof of a Bush 3rd term. However, Bush let Ridge go a short term after hiring him as Homeland Security Secretary and nobody knows why.

That would be perfect. These two would be a beautiful reminder every day of the contrast between the old guard (very old in one case) and the new guard and change. Between the politics of paranoia and between the politics of hope. Go for it McCain. Keep sinking that old wooden ship of yours! Maybe crank out another Paris ad while you're at it.

"A ruptured appendix cut short his tour and he returned home in 1970; service also aggravated a childhood ear infection. Since then Ridge has had a hearing aid in his left ear. Deafness forces him to lean in close and listen intently to whoever is speaking to him."

Sorry, it was my mistake. Governor Ridge has had problems with his left ear since childhood.

McCain, Please Pick Tom Ridge, for he is well known for his extra marital affairs while Gov. of Pennsylvania. And is Pro choice. Anything to keep the radical right away from the polls.

    Obama 08.

John McCain's pick for VP will not matter, because he is out of touch and well past his time. It is shameful the way he personally attacks his opponent and continues to say that it's humor; but who needs humor when the country is going through a recession. If I wanted humor, I'd go take in a comedy show. I'm looking for substance, and not the kind that has kept him in Washington for 26 years! If people bring up the S&L scandal, his votes against MLK holidays, his affair with his current wife (he was a 42 year old married man when he started seeing the 24 year old Cindy), and his unstable temper-tantrums, we would began to say that he's being picked on. I think his choice will do nothing to change my mind, nor will it change the minds of many independents on how he has run his campaign.

McCain is not going to choose a pro-choice running mate such as Ridge. Conservatives have always been suspicious of McCain and he needs to choose a pro-lifer to help solidify the conservative base.
