Susie,
I am happy you are a daughter of a WWII veteran, but that does not qualify your vote anymore special than anybody elses. I am a current member of the armed forces (7 years now). My opinion is no better than anybody elses, but it seems to me that Obama is the only choice we have. Wake up America!

Do you really see Mc Cain hitching his wagon to a former cabinet member of the Bush White House? Reluctantly, he has granted approval to have Dick speak at the Republican convention. Look at what Florida's governor is doing. Prearing to get married so that America is not represented by bachelor.

Does it really matter who McCain picks? I mean , seriously, he has absolutely NO APPEAL. He is running for Bush's third term---and I don't want any part of that! Change all the way for me...OBAMA, baby!

Hey, we had a gig out by that airport...at Villapiano's. (folks from Erie may get that...)

Seriously, Ridge has more substance than folks who only respond to duct tape and color-coding give him credit for...he knew when to get away from that administration. He certainly did better than the current head of Homeland Security, who wouldn't even acknowledge on an NPR interview that there were refugees in the Superdome when the news hit.

Susie, all due respect, I'm not sure why being the daughter of a WWII vet makes your opinion about Obama's experience more valid than others. Our family has four generations of vets, and I believe that Obama has the leadership, instincts, character, and intelligence needed to be an outstanding American president, starting January of 2009.

Tom Ridge? Ok, I'll get out my duct tape, plastic and review my colors.

To Susie--"Bush was handed many things that were totally out of his control"--- You mean the neocons attacking a sovereign Iraq for $12 Billion/month and killing and ruining thousands of lives, outing a CIA agent, incompetent crony appointments, defying the constitution and refusing to testify to Congress, etc. etc. Maybe you haven't noticed that McCain sounds like he has dementia--yikes!

I'm a Republican from Pennsylvania. People here know Tom Ridge for his years as Governor of this great state. I don't see what the big deal is that he wants to come home and help support a fellow Republican running for president. Sure you can make a fuss about the whole Homeland Security color codes and so forth. But since 9/11, we have yet to have another attack thanks to them in part so it’s working in some degree. Also having a brother in the Military that served in Iraq, he tells us things he’s heard about and experienced first hand.

You may also hate Bush, fine, that’s your right. But don’t go bashing someone for something you know nothing about. Yes, we have lost over 4000 soldiers, but look at how many people we have saved from Saddam’s regime. He killed hundreds of thousands of his own people for no reason at all. Let alone his kids doing the same just because it was a fun thing for them to do. Stepping in to stop this genocide was the right thing to do, even if it was under different pretenses. We even found Weapons, dirty bombs and the like that could be used as WMD’s. Just because it’s not Nuclear, doesn’t mean it couldn’t have killed a lot of people.

You also can not blame Bush for all the failed policies either, because he’s fighting a Democrat Congress and House at every turn and you wonder why nothing has gotten done in the last 8 years.

Democrats, Go ahead and bash McCain all you want, it’s your own elected nomine that everyone will hate if he’s elected President.

Susie is right, go read “The Obama Nation” For a man who wants unity between black and white people; his wife admits that she hates white people. Wow, how am I to trust him when the woman he’s married to doesn’t even support him on one of the important issues? Did I forget to mention his dad is from Afghanistan, where we have been fighting since Clinton has been in office? You really don’t think he’d give that country concessions if he became President do you? Na, he’d never do that.

Well, Bob, I have a job, but today is Sunday, after all...what about you? You've taken just as much time as every other poster here.

And, Susie, I don't need a different outlook. I've taken the last many months and paid attention to Obama and what he has to say. I think Obama and McCain are equals in terms of "presidential experience": neither are 100% ready for such a job, who is? This is where judgement, intelligence, patience and thoughtfulness come into play and Obama has McCain beat in every department!!

You go ahead and keep fighting for HRC, I'm sorry, McCain!

As the son of Vietnam vet (who didn't get captured), the grandson of a WWII vet and the great-grandson of a WWI vet, I think Obama has all he needs going into such a monumental position. Obama is a true American, just like you, Susie, and is more than ready to lead this great nation.

People keep bringing up experience. Susie, take a look at Bush's 'experience' before he took office. The man was a total failure at whatever he touched. Check it out, I think Obama in just the short time he has been working, already has more successes than Bush ever had.

A few things. Ridge is very popular in PA and could very well make the difference in that state.

As far as trying to distance himself from Bush... it doesn't matter what McCain does. Connecting McCain and Bush is the bases for all Obama's adds right now and I'm willing to be they won't change that much in the next 80 days

Lastly, I would have never guess that Bush would have won in '04. If there ever was a party that can screw up an almost sure thing, its the Democrats.

It should come down to this. McCain is Moderate, Obama is liberal. Eventhough.....Obama is trying to make people think he's not a liberal and McCain seems to be trying to make people think he is conservative.

Vote accordingly.

Susie, you live in a world of LIES. You believe LIES when you read them. When video surface that the Pledge was NOT being said at the state fair, that it was, in fact our national anthem, the REPUBLICAN LIE shifted from pledge to...."Well, you know you're supposed to cover your heart when the national anthem is played." LIE, LIE, REPUBLICAN LIES. Go to youtube and plan ANY anthem video. Almost NOBODY covers their heart during the playing of our national anthem.

Susie, read lies, believe lies....BE A LIE !

I think Obama is evil and he acts like he wants to rule the world. Not America. I am a democrat and would never vote for him because he has zero experience in politics and you are a refection of the friends you keep. I will go McCain this time and maybe Clinton will run again in 2012 and I will support her again........

Yes, Bush was handed many things that were out of his control. However, he lied and deceived to get what HE wanted. He made things up, he had false letters made out, he knew WMD were not in Iraq, he did everything in his power for the oil industry, and he is well known as an Oilman. You read the book "The Obama Nation?" How about googling "The Bush Family".

McCain wouldn't be my choice is he was the only one running.

It is good if Sen. McCain and Sen. Obama pick very different VP and present voters with a real alternative. The selection of Mr. Ridge for the Republican ticket would clarify the position of Sen. McCain concerning the Bush administration. And it is clear that not everybody in America cares about issues such as diplomacy and the environment.

One recurrent criticism of Sen. Obama is his alleged lack of experience. Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Napoleon Bonaparte and many others great statesmen were much younger, and certainly less educated and experienced than Sen. Obama. The voters will respect the academic, social, and political achievements of the candidate as well as his personal profile, as much as they value the military and personal experience of Sen. McCain as a POW.

I am sure I won't be the only one to vote for an educated gentleman, considerate of others and focused on important issues.

McCain does not equal Bush. They disagree on a number of key issues. McCain will make a way better President than Bush was. He has better principles than Bush does, but he also understands more of what the people are feeling and waynt. To believe that McCain = Bush is to believe Obama's propoganda. I don't think even Obama believes this; he's just doing it because it's good campaigning. In retrospect, I wish McCain had won the 2000 GOP nomination; I know the country would have been in a much stronger situation if McCain had been president these last 8 years.

Susie...you are kidding, right? (get the joke, or do you need me to explain it in more detail). Continue reading the books pushed on you by your friends. McCain is more corrupt than a New York crane inspector. This man has done nothing to show that he knows what to do. Can you give me one solid platform that he is running on? What, adding more oil drills now counts as a platform to run on? You do understand that even if we drill for this oil, our wondrous oil companies have shut down most of the refineries in this country. What good will it do us to drill if we can't refine the stuff? How is that going to help us?

Please, understand what is going on. We owe ourselves an educated electorate. We have had a disastrous 8 years, and for anyone with a mind of their own to think that the only choice we have is to continue this garbage is preposterous. In any other time, your comments may have had some weight to them, but it is 2008. The majority of Americans have seen enough of this garbage, and the intelligent ones are making themselves aware of the issues that are affecting this country.

It would be great if McCain had the same curiosity of an average American. Actually, doesn't sound much different than G.W., does it?

So Bush doesn't just go to the Olympics, but he looks as if it's one big party. The symbolism of a US president frolicking and enjoying the hospitality of a dictatorship is sickening.

He also mentioned that Laura was shopping. What happened to "I'm just going to the opening ceromonies"?

He's a disgrace to America.

And who is the authority on Obama that wrote the book. or just more from McCain camp.
Not everyone served in uniform and did more for thier country than some of these McJerk troops.
Susie I don't want to sound disrespectful but get more reliable sources and not cuz your dad was a ww11 vet and someone wrote a book.
I had a relitive who was executed cuz he headed up resistance in Poland and also a cousin who died in Siapan. This does not make me qualified to determine Obama is fit or not fit to lead.

Susie, I suggest you read Vincent Bugliosi's book "The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder" and then consider what Bush was handed and what he manufactured. Bush actually did not fail; he succeeded in doing exactly what he set out to do - drag us into a totally unnecessary and unjust war that has cost trillions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of lives. I fear for my young son and daughter what another Republican presidency will do for their future.

I noticed about a year ago when all the republicans around so cal started removing their "W" stickers. It made me a bit sad since they provided a great way for intelligent folk to determine who the pea brianed hate mongers were amongst us. When I read comments from people like Susie above it reminds me that I still live in a nation of primarily narrow minded, biggoted, fast food eating gun lovers who really believe God likes them better than everyone else.

What "W" inherited was a strong economy and a detailed dossier on Bin Laden so DO NOT suggest "W" was handed something so challenging that no one could have done any better - that's A BIG LIE!

Those of you who voted for "W" will likely vote for McSame because you can't help it. You've been falling for bad ideas your entire lives because it's what you've been fed from your narrow minded parents.

Oh yeah - FYI - Even if Obama was a Muslim, which he's clearly not, he'd have my vote. So go read your "Obama Nation" lies from the hate mongering GOP machine and fill your brain full of more non-sense but don't think we're all as foolish as you.

Unless something truly drastic happens, McCain is going to lose.

Only truly dumb people think Bush was a good President, and only truly uninformed people fail to see that Bush and McCain agree on virtually everything, and that McCain would continue the overwhelming majority of Bush's policies.

...Dunno George, there's a lot of stupid people in this country. The unimaginable very well could happen!

Boy, if McCain is our only choice, then the USA is in a heap of trouble. McCain has over 20 years of experience and what does he have to show for it? Just look at the last 4 years of his record to see that he is part of the problem. McCain will not be part of the solution. This Because I am living with the current devils policies. And it ain't pretty.

Susie-

Nobody has presidential experience till they become president.

John McCain has been a big part of the problem for the last 25+ years.
Take a minute and Google the"Keating 5".

You hear that George W. Bush has "failed" at this or that for a reason.

He has failed at both this and that.

Just one American's opinion, but I'm not alone.

The Obama supporters really surprise me, they flood any McCain story with derogatory comments just as soon as the stories are posted. Guess who puts the TV buzz to the story. Well, this is not about a VP choice, this is about having Tom Ridge campaign with McCain in a state that he was a former Govenor and is very popular. Plus Pennyslvania is a battle ground state that Hillary knocked Obama out by 10 points and a state that Obama said these people were the kind of people who "cling to their guns and religion". If McCain wins Pennslyvania he wins the general election.

enough with the speculations about who mccain or obama will pick for their running mate. these men will make their choice and we can all act surprised when they make their announcement. when the names are made public then the pundits can analyze it to kingdom come. the level of speculation has just gotten ridiculous.

Susie, you need to stop letting the ones who are anti obama feed you what they have put together and do your own research by checking what the anit obama puts together against FACT CHECK .ORG. Stop letting FOX News feed you what they put together to put doubt in the American people minds. May I make a suggest always Fact check everything someone say. You sure Mccain is ready to lead? Some of us throught Bush was ready to lead and look at the results from Bush so called experience. It is about Judgement and that is what Obama has.

I doubt McCain would pick Ridge. But no matter whom he picks, voters will prefer an experienced leader like McCain to a newby, inexperienced loudmouth like Obama.

And after Michelle speaks during a "prime spot" at the convention in Denver (what the h--- has she done to deserve a "prime spot" along with Hillary Clinton?) -- voters will really be turned off by even more "warm fuzzies" (gag!) fairy tale stuff she'll be spinning about Barack.

WE all know that dummy Ridge. Mccain shoud be careful this is the guy who thinks DUCT TAPE AND PLASTIC ARE THE BEST THINGS TO HAVE AND USE IN EMERGENCIES. Watch out John having someone as radical as Ridge could be a worse admin then this present one. I can visualize your next war and sending troops in wrapped in plastic sheeting and duct tape. It would makeThe war cheape.
