Richard J: Since when did the populus depend so much on government to solve their problems?

Since FDR, LBJ, and the rest of the Welfare State.

All who vote for BHO are in this group, those who feel the government should control everything, i.e. COMMUNIST

By planning to send supporters ... and all media people that have signed up ... an EMAIL outlining his VP selection, Obama can wait until after the start of the convention to make the announcement and still make it before the VP is scheduled to speak at the convention.

Imagine a world where a political/governmental "secret" is kept until the last possible moment. Hallelujah!!

John McCain may have to committ to his VP before Obama because this shrinks the amount of time McCain will have to prepare around this point for the Republican convention.

Great strategic move by Team Obama ....

Tom Ridge has zero credibility. He's become such a joke that I cringe every time he's about t open his mouth (and I'm a die-hard Republican). He can't help John McCain but most definitely can hurt the ticket. Please don't do it, John... my vote for you is hanging by a thread as it is.

John---
"Responding to news that Obama's VP choice would be announced by email and text message the same time that it is released to the media, McCain announced that his VP choice will be announced by carrier pigeon, cave paintings, telegraph, tin can phone, and life-alert monitors."

Sir, that may just be the BEST post I have ever read on these threads!

Nobama has already brought about change. He has divided the Democratic party like nobody else ever has.

If Nobama can't unite the party then he can never unite the US.

Reject the empty suit who can not function without a teleprompter telling him what to do!

THEY GAVE THE WEALTHIEST 1% OF OUR NATION (THANK YOU,BUSH WE LIKED IT) A TAX BREAK.......... WHILE THEY COULD NOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR THE WAR WITH IRAQ AND ASKED CHINA.........SAUDIS........AND DUBAI FOR MONEY!

THE WAR WITH IRAQ IS STILL COSTING HARD-WORKING-AMERCIANS........ $1.38 TRILLION A DAY!

BUT THE FAR RIGHT NEVER ADDRESSES THEIR FAILURES NOR HOW THEY WILL SOLVE THE HUGE MESS BUSH/CHENEY/MCCAIN HAVE LEFT OUR NATION IN!

FOUR MORE YEARS OF THE GOP??? NO THANKS!

Do the Hillary supporters who keep repeating "18 million people support Hillary!" realize that 18 million other people support Obama? If Clinton somehow steals the nomination at the convention, don't expect the 18 million Obama supporters to give her the time of day. If Hillary loses the election for Obama in November, don't expect the 18 million Obama supporters to give her the time of day in 2012. We still can't figure out why we're supposed to support somebody who, with all that vaunted experience, couldn't manage to run a campaign and win.

Regarding presidential ambition, here's what McCain said in his book Worth The Fighting For, p. 373, published September 2002:

I didn't decide to run for president to start a national crusade for the political reforms I believed in or to run a campaign as if it were some grand act of patriotism. In truth, I wanted to be president because it had become my ambition to be president.

After the Keating 5 he thought all was lost but he used the press to rehabilitate his image and they created the myth of the straight talking maverick (Huffington Post).

Whomever McSame selects has a great chance of becoming President if the American's are as stupid as they've been in voting for Bush. I wonder how many are doing better then they were nine years ago. How many lives would have been saved in Iraq and Louisania (Katrina)? How much would our deficit be, compared to what it is today. Anyway, those of you that are still stuck in the 50's - you'll get what you deserve.

"You know what, I hope McCain wins - and I'm a life long Democrat."

I hear a lot of people saying that.

Emphasis on the "saying" part. Real easy to say "I'm voting for the Republican, and that should carry some kind of extra weight because I claim to be a life-long Democrat".

Zell Miller was a life long "Democrat" also. Hate to break it to you, but the era of the Dixiecrats has ended.

Even picking Jesus Himself will not help McCane.

As the media are discussing John Edrwards' infidelity, questions about McCane's cheating behind his invalid wife with Cindy should and must come out.

When he met her, he lied to her about his age, and by his own words, "zeroed in on her." You owe it to the integrity of your profession to inform the American people.

It is rediculus that the media discusses the infidelity of a man who is not in in office, nor is he running for president for days now, and ignores John McCane's brutal and inhumane treatment of his invalid ex-wife.

Shame on you CNN. Even if the other news organizations don't tell the American people the truth about John McCane, you should. After all, you are the only one claiming to be the Best Political Team on Television.

p.s. I know you will not print this, but at least discuss the possiblity of shining light on the "character" of John McCain in your staff meetings. Hopefully there will be enough decent journalists left at CNN to see the need for covering the REAL news: John McCane and his abusive behavior towards his ex-wife.

McCain has to wait for Obama, the next commander in chief, to make his decision, in other words McCain will react to whomever Obama picks, it just goes to show that McCain is not a leader, he is weak and undecisive. If he cant trust himself to make his own decision as to whom he should pick how can we had him the country to make decisions about War and Peace?.

Oh yes, Mike in Syracuse, let's please open that Pandora's box about Edwards. Do you really want to go there?

On the Democratic side, we have a guy who cheated on his ill wife with a woman who wasn't wealthy or considerably younger than he. He also ISN'T the presumptive nominee. Obviously he was thinking with his much-smaller head as opposed to the one with a brain it it.

On the Republican side, we have a guy who cheated on his crippled wife with a number of people, finally picking one considerably younger who had scads of money. Then he applied for a marriage license before his divorce was even final. He wasn't only thinking with the much-smaller head; he was thinking with his wallet. Oh yeah, and he's the presumptive nominee for POTUS.

Now, do you really want to see which one wins the slime ball contest? That's the only vote of mine that McCain will get.

So many Democrats are so bitter. It's disgusting to read your disrespectful, and ignorant personal attacks on these decent men. Get over it- you lost the last two presidential elections and you'll lose again. Tom Ridge is a good man and did as good a job in that position as anyone else could have.

Yawwwnnn........
Nobody is going to change anybodys mind.
We have picked our favorite and the bets are in.
I pray Obama wins. If not, at my age, I figure I only have maybe 15 yrs left of my life sentence on Planet Earth. My children and grandchildren will have the burden and I hope before I go I have a chance to apologize to them. Not for myself, because I know I tried for them.

Obama has stumbled into a blind date with a nymphomaniac - his luck couldn't be better. All Obama has to do is wait and not do anything tremendously stupid between now and November, and he will win. It doesn't matter who McCain picks for his VP, or who Obama picks. America is tired of Bush and doesn't want four more years of McBush.

McCain had an affair with Cindy after his wife was disable in a car accident. Why isn't the media in an uproar about that like they are about Edwards' affair?

All these post really demonstrate how partisan CNN is. Why can't people understand the bennifits of non-partisan media sources, instead of prefering to be fed what they want to hear. And you all post the exact same things.... also it's not intelligent to under exagerate the space Tom Ridge created between him and bush in 04. Also he proved himself in the regan administration to be peace oriented, this is much more important then being part of the Bush administration and becoming frustrated and not returning.

Good choice.McCain's positive image is as a get-to-work kinda guy,and Ridge fits that image too.McCain can't make it or compete with the pop-culture image of Obama, who seems to be suffering from the short attention span of the pop-culture crowd.

I'm no fan of Romney, saying that about him is just wrong. Please don't lower yourself the Republican standards.
