New Obama book highlights U.S. agenda

Crown Publishers will release Obama's new book in September.

(CNN)—Campaign advertisements, campaign stops, how about campaign books?

Crown Publishers, a division of Random House, will publish Barack Obama’s third book September 9 aimed at highlighting the Illinois senator’s plans to re-vamp Washington politics

“Change We Can Believe In: Barack Obama’s Plan to Renew America’s Promise,” will include a foreword written by the presumptive Democratic nominee where he will detail his policy stances and the importance of this election. Members of Obama’s campaign staff also penned chapters detailing the Illinois senators proposals on healthcare, energy, and national security, according to the Associated Press

The book, which will be released in an audio and e-book version on September 8, will also feature a compilation of seven speeches Obama has given throughout the course of his campaign including his address in Berlin and the declaration of his candidacy for president.

Obama’s two previous books, “Audacity of Hope” and “Dreams from My Father” - also published by Crown Publishers - both rose to the top of the bestseller lists with a combined four million-plus copies currently in print.

“We are proud to have published two bestselling books by Barack Obama and are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue to work with his campaign on such an important and inspiring book at this critical moment in our country,” said Crown President Jenny Frost in a statement

The terms of the book were agreed upon by Crown President Jenny Frost and Obama’s literary representative Robert B. Barnett of Williams & Connolly. Barnett , who has represented both Obama and Clinton in their book deals, helped to find a middle ground between the two campaign staffs after Clinton dropped out of the presidential race.

  1. Good Morning Heartache

When I think of McCain, and his many years in Washington, D.C., I think of the blues, and this song:

    Stop haunting me now
    Can't shake you no how
    Just leave me alone
    I've got those Monday blues
    Straight through Sunday blues
    Good morning heartache
    Here we go again
    Good morning heartache
    You're the one
    Who knew me when
Might as well get use to
    you hanging around
    Good morning heartache
    Sit down

I wonder if he is showing himself in the book as president. Obama is really something else!!! I think he already feels that he will be the next president. I hope he is not disappointed when he is beaten by McCain.

I wonder if there is something out there that we do not know about Obama. If there is, then I hope the democrats find out about it before the convention and not after because the republicans will have field day with it.

    Hillary for president in November/08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Campain materials are supposed to be free. Do we voters have to pay money in order to know the policies a President Obama will propose?

I will refuse to pay to know the policies. The proposals should be put on the internet for free access!!!!!"

Point and click. His proposals are on his website any time you want to invest a few moments of your time.

Putting them in a book, along with campaign speeches and notes from his advisors. Cool piece of history from the first African/American President.

For the few ignoramuses out there that think McCain or Obama need to do something about Georgia -

THEY are nominees – they are NOT PRESIDENT YET !!!!

Our Official Government will take care of it one way or the other.

If a Senate Vote is required, McCain and Obama should be present. Otherwise – leave the nominees out of it. Neither is president YET !!!!

Dr. Mimi – as I've stated in the past, your blogs are boring and quite stupid. Either go back to Mexico or get an education. Your spelling is quite funny.

Bet it's a short book. Unless it's an audio book, then it will gone for hours and hours. But he won't be saying anything of substance that wouldn't fit into a very short book.

Money, money, money makes the world - well you know the rest. It's so amusing to hear how Obama is miraculously turning everything he touches into money and more money. And yet, if one peaks underneath the thin surface of how his campaign keeps the minimum donations coming in by the millions, then one finds some strange things that are happening. For example, does the public know how "Obama's stadium speech completely sold out" actually happened. Here 'tis: Send us $5.00 and you'll be guaranteed a seat at the stadium to hear Obama speak. Nothing wrong with that except the message to the public is not in sync with the real story. Which reminds us that that's about the way of Obama's entire campaign. Say one thing, mean something else entirely different. That's why I'm switching to the "white-haired dude."

Maybe then the mindless lemmings who make up most of middle American will stop basing their choice on 30 second commercials and actually read/listen to what he has to offer.

When people hated Gore for running against Bush, it was very divisive, but they moved on. With Obama, no.

He's got Hillary and McCain fighting him at the same time, even though the primaries are OVER. I love how she tries to justify her selfishness by pretending she's speaking for the "people". Well not any people she would ever be seen with, unless she's running for the presidiency.

So he has a plan and puts it in a book, but can't articulate anything on the campaign trail. Intersting.

McCain's lackluster campaign is a farce. He generates no enthusiasm when he pulls in to these town hall meetings, and from what I'm reading on blogs, he reads the same speech over and over again. His campaign is completely based on Bush's 2000 & 2004 campaigns using the very same people who ran them. At the same time, he says he's not like Bush. He endorses Bush policies, has lobbyists running his campaign, and employs Bush campaign gurus. The same people who ran Bush's White House will run McCain's if he gets elected. No original thoughts at all from McCain, just more of the same, from his campaign to his (hopeful) presidency. It truly will be 4 more years of Bush.

Reading the comments like " would have to concluse that the "mindless supporters" are heavily tied to the McCain campaign or still clinging to Hillary. Silly, unsubstantiated nonsense either to earn points for McCain prizes or to fill in a sad life by crying and whining about a candidate who didn't win due to a pathetic camapign strategy.

How very British of him. A politician putting his views in a book.

Then again, it will be nice to have someone in the Oval Office who actually can write.

All the while real authors can't get published. Gee, all you have to be is a politician or a celebrity (or both) and the media will publish your work all day long. Go figure. This book is a marketing ploy to get Obama in the White House. Politics as usual. Shameful.
