Does focus want the Almighty to rain on the Democrats’ parade?
Does focus want the Almighty to rain on the Democrats’ parade?

(CNN) — Last month, Colorado Springs-based Focus on the Family posted a video on its Web site calling on Christians to “pray for rain” to disrupt Barack Obama’s acceptance speech at the upcoming Democratic convention in nearby Denver. Weeks later, their efforts did result in a deluge – the flood of criticism and news coverage that accompanied their decision to take down the video.

Focus officials insist the video — narrated by the man in charge of Web operations for the group’s political wing — was intended as a joke, and not a request for any divinely-inspired weather patterns.

In response to Chief, it sounds like Focus on Family are the bad sports….I haven't heard of any Democrats praying for any unfortunate events to happen at the RNC convention…

BARACK OBAMA,

The 44th President of THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

IN GOD WE TRUST.

You guys are all pitiful. Sad to see how stupid the democrats have become just as sad to see rain dances going on with the republicans. Everyone prepare for the race riots when Obama looses.

Jim   August 12th, 2008 5:59 pm ET

I wonder what God really thinks of this BOZO and the other saps who donate money to him, Familiy values to wish harm to someone else because they might disagree. Scary as Mccain.

FOCUS ON THE FAMILY HAS AGAIN SHOWN ITS BACKSIDE. THEY ARE A GROUP OF RACIST RIGHT WING NUTS. WHEN IS THE IRS GOING TO INVESTIGATE THEM AND TAKE AWAY THEIR TAX EXEMPT STATUS??????????????????????????????????/

jimmy   August 12th, 2008 5:54 pm ET

Further, we must first know that Mr. Dobson is not ChURCH PASTOR or Minister. We do not know what (which , and where)
he goes to and what Bible he reads. To tell Americans what to pray for is therefore outside his calling. I am not following Mr Dobson's advice! though I will probably vote for Senator McCain.

georeg wheeldon   August 12th, 2008 5:51 pm ET

This coming from the "old guard" of "christian conservatism" is what is destroying "religion" everywhere. Why can't the leaders of these organizations, which by the way are using tax free dollars to run these stupid ads, just fade away. Give them NO MORE spotlight.

Adriana   August 12th, 2008 5:48 pm ET

I am a Christian, and I'm voting for Obama. I'm yet another Christian here to say that "Focus on the Family" doesn't speak for me.

jimmy   August 12th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

Praying for our Country is vastly more important than praying for rain on a presidential candidate's speech venue. Focus on the Family and Dobson is suddenly OUT of Focus!!!

jimmy   August 12th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

Praying is a solemn act of worship and fellowship with The Almighty
Sovereign of all creation. not to be taken lightly. Personally I am disappointed that Focus on the Family founder Dobson chooses
to use it for a dumb idea: to pray for rain on a presidential candidates
Speech.. I mean there is so much and hugely more important issues America should be prating for. The wars on Terrorism in Iraq and Afghanistan, War on Poverty , the homeless , the Aids epidemic
the global economic downturn .and so many more. Why has Dobson
become more so political that he has forgotten the bigger issues and problems of America.

Lee from FL   August 12th, 2008 5:37 pm ET

Focus on family or Focus on hate?

theo   August 12th, 2008 5:35 pm ET

And these are people who profess tp be Christians.
Gone are the days when the so called preachers of the world took people for a ride.
Dobson and his flock should be ashamed of themselves for they no longer have the respect of True Christians.
Americans does not need Dobsob to teach them the right from the wrong.
Shame on you.

Matt   August 12th, 2008 5:31 pm ET

Christians that truly uphold Christian values cannot vote for Obama. It's as simple as that. Look at his voting record. Look how he has no regard for life. He's a smooth talker and he excites people. But think about this: "Shallow brooks make lots of noise."

I do pray that Obama will not take office, because this country will self-destruct.

So asking for torrential rain that will possibly cause death and destruction is a cute form of Cristian joke?! What Book are these people reading from?

Roofin Reality, Houston, Tx.   August 12th, 2008 5:17 pm ET

As a Christian, I thnk I understand the meaning of "..fishers of men."
I don't think the FOF demonstrates that, at least not with this stunt.
Further, I don't think that Focus on Family should so outwardly support ANY CANDIDATE who proactively leaves their spouse for another.
You can look it up, but that's exactly what one of these two candidates did.
I also happen to read in my bible that GOD hates divorce. For all of my Christian friends, go read 1 Corinthians 4:2.
For all you FOF folks, that is a book in the new testament. Of the bible.

Ryan, New York, NY   August 12th, 2008 5:08 pm ET

Alice in Florida @ 2:49 pm ET,
I'm completely fine with revoking all of their tax-free statuses. What makes you think that all Obama supporters even care if he attends church. I realize that many do, but I'm more concerned about the man's morals, leadership and vision for the country than which person in the sky he prays to.

Ken   August 12th, 2008 5:02 pm ET

Dumb and dumber. Focus on the Family is a partisan waste of space. Show me the family values in the morally desolate policy landscape of the [R] party. It was a joke all right; just not in the way they think. Pathetic.

Brennan - Seattle, WA   August 12th, 2008 4:55 pm ET

This just proves that these religious groups have an agenda.

Obama is one of them and yet they still pull for the Republican. This can only be because they are single issue voters. (Abortion)

This is one of the most damaging things for religion. I quit going to church because, just by going you are supporting more than your faith. Organized religion has gotten way to involved with politics.

As an Iraq war veteran I feel the same way when people try to speak for the "Troops" as if all of the Troops support one thing or another our military and our religions are made up with all kinds of people and these people that try to speak for the entire group do not account for the varying opinions within the group.

Danel   August 12th, 2008 4:54 pm ET

Focus on the family values? ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGG. They are the ones who'll condemn Obama for supporting women for their rights to abortion and yet advocating "shock and awe" to the Iraqis killing small children. Where's the logic?

Bill   August 12th, 2008 4:52 pm ET

Oh Lord, I pray for rain on the DNC and showers of crude oil on the RNC.

Chief   August 12th, 2008 4:48 pm ET

You Obama supporters sure are a grumpy lot. A little story about a try at humor and so many of you get your knickers all twisted up. Could it be that the real thing that is upsetting you is your candidate seems to be sinking in the polls day by day? There was so much you found humorous about George W Bush that you don't seem to find humorous if it concerns Mr Obama. Either you are hypocritical and just bad sports.

NoMcSame   August 12th, 2008 4:46 pm ET

If it rains we will stand there in it and let the Good Lord wash us with his precious rain and bask in that sweet water from the heavens. Then we will watch the skies open up and hear the words these are my children in whom I am well pleased. Wash us Lord and cleans us of the evil that dwells in the Focus on the Family people.
We liberals would never ask the roof to fall in on the republicans when they are in Minnesota like the bridge that fell into the river. Romans CH12 vs21 says" Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. So I will wish them the best and that they will all return home safe to their families.

indiePA   August 12th, 2008 4:43 pm ET

What a waste of time and money!!!! Will someone please bring this whole stupid march up to the conventions to a grinding halt??? What about the ISSUES???? What about ongoing wars where young Americans are dying? What about an economic slump, high cost of food, wages not growing fast enough? What about the cost of healthcare? What about corporations and members of Congress working together to give amnesty to ILLEGALS so that they can continue to drain our educational, medical and justice system funds? Does anyone care??????

Paul   August 12th, 2008 4:40 pm ET

It was a joke. Focus on the Family is a strong advocate for family values.

Eroding family values will jeopardize the nations as it has in Europe with negative birth rates, religious and anti-religion conflict, weak foreign policy and the country may eventually fail.

Retired Veteran from New York City, NY   August 12th, 2008 4:31 pm ET

Instead for the Focus on the Family to pray for rain, they should pray for repentance. They James Dotson's clowns that called themselves Christian should be ashamed of calling themselves Christian.

Those people like Focus on the Family make a complete mockery of the gospel of Jesus Christ, they are nothing but a buch of Wolves in Sheeps clothings. People like them, by their actions make non-believers criticize the gospel and don't believe in Christianity.

Focus in the Family is nothing but a legion of Muslems disguise themselves behind a Bible with the ultimate intention to derail the gospel of Christ. They will receive their rewards for their good deeds.

Ted   August 12th, 2008 4:29 pm ET

Stay away from Obama. He is not ready for prime time.

By the way, I think Obama is like August field corn, nice to look at, big and tall but not ready yet. Obama is risky, however I think Obama and Larry Craig the two Idaho winners should team up.

By the Way———

Obama's worldview as expressed in Berlin is much closer to the whining, hand wringing critics of Truman, Kennedy and Reagan than it is to the views of these three stalwarts of freedom.

Obama's response to evil in the world is not "We are staying in Berlin, period," "Ich bin ein Berliner" or "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall."

Obama's response is "everybody hold hands and sing Kumbaya, cuz golly gee if the world will only 'act as one,' all our troubles and all the bad guys will go away."

Your sense of judgment is WARPED.

Let me ask you this are you a MORON or simply too deluded to see reality?

Obama was NOT born Muslim.. and he has never been Muslim pure simple fact sorry your preacher is still lying to you about this!

And the Constitution makes it a point to state that no religious test shall EVER be used as a determinant in whetehr a person is fit for office… so even if he is NOt a Christian (which he is) this does not matter. If you are so shallow minded that you cannot vote for anyone who might believe differently than you than maybe you should just stay home.. or do you support all those who ahve broken the law in office are you like them?

Focus on the Family is nothing more than a an American version of the Taliban … filled with hate mongering racists who want to take your freedom away, trash the Constitution of the United States of America, and replace it with their twisted version of a ne-Bible written to fit a political agenda. It's a domestic terrorists organization that funds and supports the bombing of family planning clinics and the murder of physicians. It's time that Dobson and his henchmen were arrested, tried for treason, and thrown in jail. Let's focus on freedom for a change, and that means the freedom to parctice any religion you ascribe to …. not just fundamentalist radical versions of christianity.

Who will run for President, God Forbid, if Obama should win the election and serve his term? What if a fanatic eliminated Obama, who do we want as President? The person to take his place is the VP. I cannot believe Obama would pick a republican as VP and expect any kind of party unity in November. His fans are pretty crazy, but I can't believe they could be that stupid. Maybe they are as dumb as I first thought they were. Whomever McCain picks as VP is, without a doubt, a hairs breath away from the Presidency. Prayer is never a joke. Prayer is serious business. Prayer is communicating with God. They trivialized God by seriously or in jest asking God to disrupt a peaceful gathering.

I would expect Christians to pray fro Obama's success and McCain's success. I expect Christians to pray for God's guidance for both of these men.

I disagree with John McCain. I would never pray for him to fail. I easily pray for God to guide him, me, and everyone else.

…and people are questioning the Muslim faith but look at these supposed "Christians".

People need to stop hiding behind God and pretending that being a Christian can do no wrong. Just like any religion, Christian, Buddhist, Muslim, Atheist, etc. there are the radical believers in all different faiths. Wasn't it Timothy McVeigh who was a U.S. Army Veteran who bombed the Oklahoma City Federal Building and was a Roman Catholic…..?????

Just as a side note….If the 9/11 attacks were done by a white Christian would being a Christian be questioned as much as being a Muslim…OF COURSE NOT. I'm tired of the religious hate just because of the acts of few.

If we were to judge a whole religion based on acts of a few…Christian faith would have been ridiculed centuries ago like the Muslim faith is questioned today.

And I'm only joking when I say that I hope that an earthquake destroys FoKKKusOn The Family headquarters in Colorado Springs.

From James Dobson right on down to the janitors, they're idiots.

Bukky   August 12th, 2008 3:25 pm ET

I am NO FAN on focus on the family (me being gay and all) but it should be noted that the outrage that caused them to pull the video came from its on members.

at least some of there member saw that as the POS it was…

Above "Religious" Trickery   August 12th, 2008 3:25 pm ET

This is why I'm an atheist. Just some examples of more foolish sheep following some arcane and outdated ideas.
Get over yourselves and try to get involved in the political process in a real way or just shut up.

Remember: What is taught as mythology today were yesterday’s greatest religions. In time the modern god(s) will become myths just like the Greek and Roman gods.

So, you just go ahead and pray for all the rain you want…

Sifa   August 12th, 2008 3:25 pm ET

Proud Army and Navy mom, why don't you start by cleaning up your own fowl mouth. Clean up the dirt in you eyes before you clean that in your brother's eyes. Remember? I do believe in God and I must say, it's a shame when people think it's a joke to pray for something unfavorable to happen to another human beeng. Well, too bad because the God I know, does not respond to those kinds of prayers.
It may just backfire on the group and whoever they are supporting.

jesse   August 12th, 2008 3:24 pm ET

So…they're JOKING about prayer? Isn't that blasphemy?

All in the name of Christianity?? Please, people can claim to be Christian but you know a real Christian by how he acts. Consider Jimmy Carter and the fact that he is a true Christian. Intolerance is not the Christian way.

luvero   August 12th, 2008 3:20 pm ET

I didn't even know Focus on the Family had a website until you reported it. Why do you promote this nonsense? Who cares?

Joe from Ohio   August 12th, 2008 3:20 pm ET

Why are Obama's so upset. Barack can walk on water!!!

He is the chosen ONE!!!

Hillary 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unshrub   August 12th, 2008 3:16 pm ET

THis is one Christain who will pray for a clear sky.

R.I.F.   August 12th, 2008 3:11 pm ET

As a Christian, I find some of these "religous" groups to be nothing more that hypocrits. They speak about "family values" and build their whole support of the right wing around abortion and gays. There are so many other "family value" items like loving thy neigbor, taking care of the elderly, sick and poor, etc, etc, etc where the repulbicans fall so short that they sould consider being independent and try to support policies and not just an entire party.

Independent-Latina-for-OBAMA   August 12th, 2008 3:10 pm ET

Its HEARTBREAKING to see "CHRISTIANS" BEING TOTALLY MEAN-SPIRITED.

HEY, FOCUS ON THE FAMILY HAVE YOU NOT READ THE BIBLE?

JESUS' GREATEST COMMANDMENT JOHN 15:12

" LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS I HAVE LOVED YOU."

Its sheer HYPOCRISY, that a so-called-Christian organization would stoop to these tactics!

SO……… JUST AS SOME ARE PRAYING FOR THE DEMISE OF SEN. OBAMA ……… THERE ARE ALSO MILLIONS PRAYING FOR HIS WELL-BEING, SUCCESS AND …….YEAH……..A BEAUTIFUL SUNNY-ROCKY-MOUNTAIN DAY ON THE 28TH!

ran   August 12th, 2008 3:09 pm ET

How come they don't ask for rain where it's needed? Isn't that the christian thing to do?

bob in L.A.   August 12th, 2008 3:08 pm ET

The call for Biblical rainfall is shameful on so many levels. It is never Christian to call upon God to do what is clearly a vengful and mean spirited act. Focus on Fmaily should be ashamed of themselves!

mark Lukas   August 12th, 2008 3:07 pm ET

I'm a Christian as well and I just have one request from people…
For the love of all that is holy do not lump us "everyday" Christians in with these people. They crazy…
I think what we really need is to pray for a flood to wash away focus on the family.

CJ   August 12th, 2008 3:05 pm ET

I support Obama, but that's like me praying for John McCain to get hurt or something crazy to happen to him while he's giving a speech which would be utterly ridiculous. These folks sound very much like poligious (politically-religious) Christians, not the Christians of the Bible and the God I serve.

Lone McCain Blogger   August 12th, 2008 3:03 pm ET

Its called the dumbing down of America. These dinsoaurs need to die off. If we should be praying for a solution, that would be a better one.

S. Boatman   August 12th, 2008 3:01 pm ET

I Dont Think This Group Understands God At All! It Doesnt Sound Like They Follow The Examples Of Our Savior Jesus! I Will Pray For Gods Will To Be Done And Keep My Faith In My Lord And Not Pray For Ill Will To Be Done To Others!

Proud Army and Navy Mom   August 12th, 2008 3:01 pm ET

That is awesome……I will pray for rain as well maybe clean up some of those fowl mouth Obama supporters and short circuit the teleprompter

Anonymous   August 12th, 2008 3:00 pm ET

I find "Focus on the Family" to be a funny name for this group.

They support a divorced man who threw his disfigured wife aside for a woman 20 years younger than him.

I guess they mean focus on families other than your own.

A Latte Lover, Seattle, WA   August 12th, 2008 3:00 pm ET

It really wouldn't matter if it rains or not!!! Yes, people would stand out in the rain to see Obama accept the nomination on this historical night. Other possible Dem. nominee (who shall remain nameless) mmm, not so much.

Only Obama for me!!!

Obama/Biden, 08

Seriously folks...   August 12th, 2008 2:59 pm ET

It's illogical cult mentaility such as this that causes all strife and needless religious wars. Exactly the opposite of what religion shoud promote. Think about it.

Marcus, Great Lakes, IL   August 12th, 2008 2:58 pm ET

Ronald Reagan was a "Celebrity" wasn't he?

McCain when he got back from Viet Nam was a "Celebrity" as the media was all over him.
(He also got some negative press but, we will leave that up to those who use their search engine to find out the truth).

The Reagan's nor Ross Perot have much use for John McCain.

Most of the complaints came from within Focus on the Family.

Also, freedom of speech was revoked by the Bush administration, so you need not wonder what happened to it.

Come Again???   August 12th, 2008 2:57 pm ET

Focus on the Family's political wing has hit ground zero. This man was actually in charge of the politics at Focus. He is the 'best' they have. If you're still getting your news from Focus, you are living under a rock.

Listening to the "faitful", Obama will part the sea of Rain to deliver his "message" on unspecific platitudes… and the "faithful" upon hearing him speak will bow down before him….

NO ROCK STARS … we deserve a real President with real experience.

JohnLee   August 12th, 2008 2:54 pm ET

A joke? So are they saying that calling on other christians to pray for something to God is a joke? I find this so disturbing in so many ways and we really need to elevate our country above these type of discussions. I think we as citizens need to make these religious foundations taxable like everyone else. If they are going to act like a business instead of a church, than lets tax them! That ought to help the poor more than they help the poor.

LaShanda   August 12th, 2008 2:53 pm ET

These people should be praying for peace in Georgia and for help for those struggling financially, not for rain on a day that marks a milestone in African-American and American history. They should be ashamed of themselves!

Henry Miller, Cary, NC   August 12th, 2008 2:52 pm ET

Superstitious nuts…

Nelson, Knoxville, Tenn   August 12th, 2008 2:50 pm ET

To those of you whining about their tax exempt status – what about Reverend Wright's hateful church's tax exempt status? Typical Obamabots – everything's OK as long as Obama's involved.

You guys love to have it both ways just as much as your hero does!

Irma in North Carolina   August 12th, 2008 2:49 pm ET

All you people are just a bunch of ractis out there , Just like Hillary is trying to get back in there, thats all we need is a bunch Of Monicas disgracing the white house. You all might as well vote for Mccain then , him and Willy are a pair alike cheating on their wifes and then trying to get back in the white house. People like his need to get brought down on their knees. The DNC needs to put a stop to this.

Sean   August 12th, 2008 2:37 pm ET

Please, someone tell me what Obama has done that's "showing off"? He is campaigning, and people like him. All of a sudden, that makes him unelectable? Who cares if he is a celebrity? He is still the best man for the job, and being a celebrity doesn't exclude someone from other skills.

I never thought the Democrats would ever again put out a truly pathetic candidate….the last one we had was McGovern. But here we are with Obama…..

Personally, I would look forward to a good Denver drenching during the convention, especially at the ball park where rockstar American Idol Obama wants to enthrall the mas*ses via his teleprompter feed as they bow, scrape and sway to his messianic words.

Yup….I'd certainly like to see it rain on Obama's parade!

NOBAMA!

John   August 12th, 2008 2:32 pm ET

This could come back to them tenfold, as they're not likely to cancel it even if it does rain. It'll be a huge story, 75,000 people staying in the stands to listen to Obama's speech regardless of the weather.

Whoops.

Kevin   August 12th, 2008 2:32 pm ET

What is Focus on the Family's position regarding John Mccain's extramarital affairs? Do they endorse cheating on someone if they have been in a car wreck?

It is a cardinal SIN to use God to get ahead. There are so many people doing that and I do hope they know they will be judged one day for it not by people on this planet either. Well it is the signs of the times. Open your eyeees people there are more signs every single day. When it happens it will be too late. Better wise up.

By the same token, Jesus would condemn all those preachers who turn their MEGA churches into money making machines…

Simply nauseating!

fella from Chicago   August 12th, 2008 2:29 pm ET

Lord, I'm one of your wayward lost Christian children who have stumbled along the way, but darn if I'm not praying for the same rain event. Oh what fun it would be to see the evil Democratic witches from the East and West have their sins washed away for practicing Obamaism and turn into God fearing Republicans. Lord! Open the skies in Denver for 3-4 days and let the theme song be "Singing in the Rain".

Jim,Atlanta   August 12th, 2008 2:28 pm ET

Face it….these people have excuses for every event.

pj4521   August 12th, 2008 2:27 pm ET

What a proud and storied organization focus on the family remains. Thank you James Dobson and all of the members of focus on the family for your consistent dispaly of intelligent rationale thinking on the important issues facing the world today. I mean, to think, all we had to do is pray for rain and that would make Barak Obama drop out of the presidential campaign. Why didn't Hillary think of it?

mark   August 12th, 2008 2:26 pm ET

As a Christian, I am ashamed of Focus On the Family and wish they would shut their mouths and get the heck out of politics and start following Jesus' example and reach out in love to a world in need of hope. SHAME on you Focus on the Family!

Donna from Colorado Springs   August 12th, 2008 2:25 pm ET

Being from Colorado Springs, I was embarrased, but not surprised about the garbage coming from Focus on the family. They think that what they think and feel is what the town thinks and feels. Thank goodness some of their own people complained, and the video was pulled. It was a very arrogant statement to make, and it was not well received. This is a die hard republican county and they think that they run everything here. Being a democrat around here is hard sometimes as your views are usually dismissed as liberal bull.

Janet / Agness, Oregon   August 12th, 2008 2:24 pm ET

Will someone please tell me how this crazy group gets to maintain their non-taxpaying status???
My understanding was that if a religious group enters the political arena, the status is revoked, as it should be.
Somehow, Focus on the Family continues to comment on the current politics (and try to get their followers to obey their directions). What are the necessary steps to revoke their status??
They already got incredible tax breaks and financial incentives to locate in CO Springs. Then they immediately start working to control the politics of the city, state, and now, the nation.
Is this not exactly why our fore-fathers came to this country and proceeded to fight the revolutionary war?
Keep YOUR religion OUT of my government!!!

Unity   August 12th, 2008 2:24 pm ET

I suppose we now know the answer to the question WWJD? Do anything possible to quiet someone you do not agree with, by any means possible?

Not quite sure what my Jesus would do, but I am pretty sure it is would not be that response.

William   August 12th, 2008 2:21 pm ET

Typical of right-wing fundamentalist christians who disgrace the name of God to attack the people who have a positive view for america. And to bring politics into religion! on their main website! Disgraceful. Good job Focus on the Family, way to disgrace your own religion.

Matthew, Philadelphia, PA   August 12th, 2008 2:20 pm ET

Whatever, I do hope it rains during Obama's speech. I'm sick of him being such a show off, particularly when he's got nothing to show us in terms of a record.

Peter (CA)   August 12th, 2008 2:18 pm ET

And this is the Republican core?

Remember a few years ago when Pat Robertson prayed for an "opening" on the Supreme Court…..and then Rehnquist died?

Maybe they should be careful what they pray for.

Sheri   August 12th, 2008 2:17 pm ET

I am a Christian and it hurts to hear this. Pitiful! And they profess that Jesus Christ is their savior.

Len in Washington   August 12th, 2008 2:17 pm ET

By the way……doesn't this violate their tax-exempt status? If this was posted on the Churches website, then it is a flagrant violation and should be handled as such. I'll bet if they lost their exempt status, they'd back off of all this. After all, Focus moved to Colorado Springs after California changed it's laws and was going to start taxing the organizations real property. The city fathers in Colorado Springs worked a "Deal" with them and they moved in a flash.

ProudToBeDemocrat   August 12th, 2008 2:17 pm ET

This are the so called Conservative Christians who believe they are the true christians. People wake up do you really believe God would listen to this idiots who are using his name for cheap political tactics, I am going to pretent to know how God things, but occording to the bible God wants us to be honest, humble, to love every one, not to judge people, and so on and from what I can see this so called Republican Conservative have non of Quality God want us to have.

Skippy the Flying Tree   August 12th, 2008 2:06 pm ET

The part that gets me about this is that if a group supporting Obama tried this exact same tactic, Focus on the Family would probably go out of their minds on how the liberal left was attempting to use an evil pagan rain dance to squash their hero of choice. When they do it, though, they're just asking for divine intervention.

D-MI   August 12th, 2008 2:06 pm ET

Yup,

That's about where the christian right is these days…

So bankrupt of values, ideas and solutions that the have resorted to praying for rain to prevent people from articulating or hearing an alternative to their message of hate, intolerance and elective ignorance.

While you people are doing this whole praying thing, why don't you sacrifice some goats or chickens or something. Perhaps that will please the great boogeyman in the sky…

A joke? No, I believe that's about exactly what they would consider a political strategy.
