NEWARK, New Jersey (CNN) – If a running mate's chief role in a campaign is to play attack dog, then vice presidential prospect Joe Lieberman's audition is going swimmingly.
The Connecticut senator first questioned Barack Obama's patriotism and bipartisan record on Tuesday morning in Pennsylvania, saying the presidential contest is "between one candidate, John McCain who's always put the country first, worked across party lines to get things done, and one candidate who has not."
McCain's campaign later distributed those comments to reporters.
Lieberman, an Independent senator who caucuses with the Democratic Party, again sounded off to reporters on board McCain's campaign plane during a flight to New Jersey, praising the presumptive Republican nominee's record in the Senate and belittling Obama's.
"In the three and a half years Barack Obama has been in the senate with all respect, there is very little evidence of that kind of bipartisan outreach," said Lieberman.
"Barack Obama talks about bipartisanship," he continued. "John McCain has lived it, worked it, done it. That's why I think in the end, which is election day, which we hope is just the beginning, there are going to be many more Democrats who will vote for John McCain than Republicans who will vote for Barack Obama."
Faced with the V.P. question, Lieberman demurred.
Asked if he would accept a spot on the Republican ticket, he answered: "Uh, where?"

Interrsting that Joe Lieberman seems to always put Israel first, over America, including the invasion of Iraq, which was (at best was only a moderate) threat to Israel (as highlighted by the neo-conservatives Wolfowitz, Feith, et al in the mid-1990's), not the USA. He is far more guilty of his statement today of being un-American than any of the current candidates for president.
Liberman is so much like john Mccain.He is old, inflexible and incapable of telling the truyh. He is a liability to Mccain just as he was to Gore.

Lieberman must be kidding. How can he slam Obama's record. He has none. All he does is vote present and sign on to someone elses bill. But I do agree that John McCain will put this country first and we all know thru Obamas own words , friends,(domestic terriost) wife's and reverends where america stands in their priorties.

Lieberman would be a great VP pick, it would just give Obama a bigger margin of victory in CT because 20%+ isn't enough.
Look for Lieberman to lose his chairmanship on his commitee if he keeps this up. Also, he promised not to critisize Obama, but looks like just another "Say one thing and Do the opposite" kind of politician.

Lieberman, please show up at every event McCain is at. I am always worried that poor old mcCain will keep on making mistakes or not know the answer.
Don't forget that Bush was at least a C student. McCain was at the bottom 5th of his academy (894th out of 898?). Only Gomer Pile and his cousins were lower than McCain.
