Obama's campaign released an anti-McCain radio ad Tuesday.
Obama's campaign released an anti-McCain radio ad Tuesday.

(CNN)— Barack Obama’s campaign released a new radio ad Monday that paints John McCain as uninterested in protecting jobs for American companies like Harley Davidson, a major employer in the town of York, Pennsylvania, where the Arizona senator is holding a town hall today.

The 60 second spot, “Motorcycle,” draws upon a speech McCain gave in South Dakota where he mocked Obama’s Berlin speech, claiming he “will take the roar of 50,000 Harleys any day.”

The announcer says, “But when it comes to his record, American-made motorcycles like Harleys don’t matter to John McCain.”

“Back in Washington, McCain opposed a requirement that the government buy American-made motorcycles.”

In 2003, the Arizona senator introduced an amendment that ended the ‘Buy America’ requirement on government purchases of equipment.

Full script after the jump

The latest Obama radio ad, which is airing in Pennsylvania, is the most recent in a series of anti-McCain spots looking to tie his campaign stops to threatened jobs in the communities he visits.

On Friday, while McCain campaigned in Ohio, Obama’s campaign released an ad saying the presumptive Republican nominee and his campaign manager Rick Davis were partly responsible for the potential loss of thousands of Ohio jobs.

"Motorcycle"

(motorcycle roaring in background)

Listen to John McCain speaking to motorcycle enthusiasts in Sturgis, South Dakota on Tuesday.

“Not long ago a couple hundred thousand Berliners made a lot of noise for my opponent. I will take the roar of 50,000 Harleys any day.”

But when it comes to his record, American-made motorcycles like Harleys don’t matter to John McCain.

Back in Washington, McCain opposed a requirement that the government buy American-made motorcycles.

And he said all Buy American provisions were quote “disgraceful.”

Surprised? You shouldn’t be.

This is the same John McCain who supported billions in tax breaks for companies who ship American jobs overseas …

(motorcycle roaring in background)

It’s time to hear the roar of a strong American economy again, and stop John McCain from shipping our jobs overseas.

“I’m Barack Obama, candidate for President and I approved this message. Paid for by Obama for America.”

Well at least McCain VOTED! 70% of the time Obama voted "present" instead of a YES or a NO. Talk about total B.S. Obama is WAYYY to inexperienced to run this country!

OBAMA HAS NO RIGHT TO SLAM ANYONE WITH ALL OF HIS RADICAL CONNECTIONS,YET HE KEEPS GETTING A FREE RIDE WITH THE MEDIA. His Hawaii trip is just to make the media circus focus on the glorious Hawaiian surroundings and not the Obama skeleton closet. He has been said to have direct ties to Raila Odingo,an Islamic radical in kenya ,and known connections with the Taliban. What else do we need to know about Obama,to know he is not a Presidential option?

Obama would protect jobs for all his cronies and tax the rest of us .
Smart boy , raise taxes during economic down turn .
I bet that would put small business out of business.
That's a logical way to create jobs now isn't it

Our government must buy products made in american. This is a simple, fundamental concept. Mr. Obama's not mandating that any private citizen buy american. But what he is saying is that we should keep our tax dollars here at home

Good point TEAM OBAMA but this is presented too intelectually ... you need to get JUST a bit MORE GUTTTERAL ...

Five years ago John McCain torpedoed a requirement for the US government to buy US made motorcylces.

But just last week, he claimed to like the sound of 50,000 Harleys.

What changed? The Election?

Harley Davidson has had courageous history in America in times of War, law enforcement and government secret service.. This is not Protectionism – American Tax dollars should go to purchase American Products first and imports if the same is not available as American made. The average consumer can spend their discretionary funds wherever he or she wants. But, tax dollars should be spent here.

PERIOD.

Tony   August 12th, 2008 1:03 pm ET

The people complaining about "Buy American" being dropped sound like you're all screaming "They took er jerbs!" at the top of your lungs. *LOL*

Typical of a Socialist to want government to hinder fair and healthy competition. Just how tight are Obama and Putin?

smart40   August 12th, 2008 1:02 pm ET

The only thing McCain cares about is our military and war. He will bankrupt the country (more).

Walter   August 12th, 2008 1:01 pm ET

Nice, polite little ad. Issue oriented, not a personal attack at all.

In other words, another missed opportunity. Obama is going to have to go after McCain – hard and personal. The senile old hypocrite is going to win if his lies go unchallenged and his misanthropy remains hidden by the fawning media.

There's no redeeming or reasoning with that hateful old warmonger. Obama needs to put him out of OUR misery – and now!

Jill- IN   August 12th, 2008 1:01 pm ET

The Washington Post, citing lobbying records, reported in June that Davis' lobbying firm (a McCain aide) earned $125,000 from Airborne in 2003 and $465,000 from DHL between 2003 and 2005.
The Post also reported that McCain helped to overcome opposition to the deal by Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, who objected to foreign control of an American shipping company. McCain blocked an effort by Stevens to prohibit the foreign-controlled company from holding U.S. military contracts, the newspaper reported.
With Davis lobbying on DHL's behalf, McCain, then chairman of the Senate commerce committee, stepped in, arguing that spending bills should not be used to make "a fundamental policy change" such as Stevens's provision. Congress scaled back the provision to ensure that the DHL-Airborne deal could go through. DHL deal will cost thousands of job to Ohio workers who work for an American owned air transport company.

INDEPENDENT NYC   August 12th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Now this is new fodder for me. McCain voted against the government requirement to "buy American". How very "American" is that. This literally angers me.

This last year McCain pranced his wrinkled butt all over the country talking about how much he cares for Americans and what a great war hero he was and how long he has been in Washington. I fact check his vote against requiring government office to buy American and yeah he voted against it. He also voted against the last 3 GI bills and has said he'd appoint an "anti abortion" supreme court judge if given the chance. Regardless of how you feel about abortion it is clear there should be a requirement for the US to purchase American because those spending our money won't when given a choice. Just look at the Defense department and the contracts they intended to offer European companies instead of Boeing. Its time to take our country bad from the Republicans – they're capitalist first not Americans.

Chris   August 12th, 2008 12:58 pm ET

Debby – Obama is saying the Government should buy products (motorcycles) made in the USA... not products made in other countries.

He's not saying what consumers should buy, just what the government should (police vehicle)

Kind of like German Shepards for police – why do we buy 90%+ for Britain when we have breeders/trainers here in the USA? Why are we always the importers?

That's funny, I think Sturgis, SD is in the United States and Berlin, Germany isn't. McCain's going around visiting American cities and Barack's flying around the world, yet HE'S the one that's gonna protect my job? And redistribute my wealth, too? Your services are not necessary, Obama. I'd like a leader as president, not a celebrity.

some of the responses of free trade is concerning. Not everything is either or. There is always a balance. No one is saying that global economy is bad or free trade should end. Obama and others are saying that manufactoring jobs should not be outsourced to another country for cheaper labor because it increases unemployment in the U.S. If unemployment rises, the economy sinks because people cannot afford to purchase anything without a job. Free trade laws have to be fair in which we can export goods while maintaining manufactoring jobs in the U.S.

Maggie Muggins From Selwyn   August 12th, 2008 12:55 pm ET

Reading all the anti union comments in these posts definitely shows how ignorant a lot of people have become and they all deserve to work 12 hour days 7 days a week for minimal pay and no benefits. But then what do you expect from a country that doesn't seem to care how many of the fellow citizens die each year just because they can't afford health care.

Mike, Syracuse, NY   August 12th, 2008 12:55 pm ET

kim hussein taylor, You are totally clueless about the Boeing tanker deal. McCain opposed giving a contract to Boeing without competition. It was for leasing tankers at a rate that worked out much higher than an outright purchase. It was later determined that an Air Force procurement official (Darleen Druyan) and Boeing conspired, so she would get a high paying job after leavinbg the gov't in return for the contract. She is in jail now, and the Boeing CEO was forced to retire. Hence Mccain prevented a fraud worth tens of billions. Get your facts straight, or don't vote. We don't need our next President determined by ignorant fools like you!. Google 'Darleen Druyan' and get the correct story. In a subsequent competition, Northrup Grumman and EADS beat Boeing. That competition was successfully protested and will be recompeted. So EADS has gotten nothing yet.

Obama is no better on this.

Earlier this year Obama stood there and told the American people that he is going to undo NAFTA while at the same time telling the Canadian and Mexican governments to IGNORE what he is saying on the subject. You remember, it was posted right here on CNN and on other media outlets.

Obama LIED to the American people.

MIKE – TEXAS, You are wrong. It was later reported that it was actually a Clinton person who spoke with Canada and tried to blame the Obama camp. An attemp to derail Obama by the Clinton campaign.

Michelle, PA   August 12th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

Obama forgot to mention the Ohio DHL plant sending its jobs overseas, thanks to McCain's efforts (and thos eof his lobbyist campaign manager). Or the HP jobs that were lost to outsourcing under the leadership of another McCain insider, Carly Fiorina. Then there's McCain's central involvement in the DOD's decision to snub Boeing and give business to Airbus – effectively outsourcing our military manufacturing. The list goes on and on. Vote McCain, fight four wars at the same time, return to the Cold War ideological and military spending bunker while cutting taxes on the megawealthy and megacorporations – but balancing the budget. The man is dangerous.

Hoffmann   August 12th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

Laissez fare, protectionism, free trade what does it all mean when we trade with countries that employ slave labor. How can we compete with that? Our government has sold out our industry. They will continue outsourcing jobs until we are a third world country.

carlo   August 12th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

Instead of bashing Obama with no substance to back up your claims, why don't some of you actually take the time to find out if what he is saying is actually true? I know why-you KNOW what Obama is saying is true, but your hatred and bitterness won't let you vote for him. He was bludgeoned about Rev. Wright, someone who will never advise him on policy, yet McCain has bona fide crooks ADVISING him and you cast a blind eye to that. First you don't know enough about Obama, then you see too much of Obama, then you criticize him for taking a vacation, and now when he airs a truthful substantive ad, now he needs to go back on vacation! You people are unreal.

Yea we need less government intervention. Looks at the great results it produces when we eliminate regulation of mortgages (housing disaster), Banking (how many failed banks so far this year?), energy (Enron, California rolling blackouts, oil tripling in 6 months), ect....

Regulations are put for good reasons and removed only by bandits looking to steal money. Thanks Bush and McBush for giving the keys to the crooks!

Peter G   August 12th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

Seriously? This is what it's come too? People throwing insults back and forth at people in these blogs because they don't agree with the other side of the isle? Come on people...calm down.

For people on BOTH sides of the isle, the comments that are made during their ads aren't lies...they are truths. Whether we like it or not. The problem is – McCain will get hit a lot more in these ads cause he has a voting record. Obama on the other hand has voted present on most of the big issues because it doesn't force him to take a stand. He can say whatever he wants and no one can pin him down. That's not me leaning anyway, it's just fact. That's it.

Obama is not going to bring the world together – the world (population) is set in their ways and we live in a world that even if someone is shown Truth, they still don't believe what they see.

McCain isn't Bush. Just because they're Republicans (although we all should remember that McCain almost dumped the Republican party). He probably is the most liberal Republican there is.

The point is – regardless of who we put in office, the next four years are going to be very difficult. It's not going to be completely fixed, it's not going to be much worse. Either way, the troops are coming home on one of these two's watches.

The best thing you can do is to take care of yourself in your own houses. Stop using your credit cards for everything, spend what you make, hug your children and be mindful of what they're doing when they aren't in school. That's it. Nobody in this world is any better than anyone else. They may have different abilities or characteristics...but hey George Clooney isn't any better than me, and I'm no better than the janitor that cleans the toliets in my office at night. Politicians don't care about you – regardless of what they say – they're out for one thing and that's their legacy. We're all human beings and we should all look out for each other. Period.

Brian   August 12th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

Ooooh, now who's being negative. Guess your candidate isn't all peaches and cream, Obamabots. Hmm now why would McCain want to lower taxes on companies being forced to ship jobs overseas? Maybe it is because high taxes in America forced those jobs overseas in the first place.

Of course individuals can buy from wherever they want. What Obama is talking about is keeping jobs in America! If the government buys from other countries their giving our tax dollars to other countries!

Sad to say but people who make Harleys, buy Harleys and sell Harleys are types who just will simply not vote for Obama. McCain is anti american Jobs, but those types are the uneducated and have their biases, they would rather be unemployed before voting for Obama and guess what, its already started to happen. Rental car companies and most government agencies buy american parts. McCain was against it and literally shipped jobs overseas. What's not discussed by the Media is how he single handidly almost cost Boeing the Tanker program which is Hundreds of thousands of american jobs. Thank God the government commitee has re-evaluated that contract and Boeing may get it over Airbus. This McCain guy doesn't care about the american worker losing jobs. He cares about the billion dollar investors making money wherever they can if even in other countries. Need a president who cares about America First. Then we can show the world again how great we are and be proud.

Praetorian, Ft. Myers   August 12th, 2008 12:37 pm ET

The reason the government (not just McCain) eliminated the "buy American" requirement..was because of pressures by the Pentagon–because they werelocked into high cost contracts–based on pork, affirmative action, and prison industries that reduced their actual buying power in a time of reduced spending on quality of life for the troops.

If Obi-Wan Obama had actually been working within–or had a clue of current affairs of the fed for more than 36 months–he'd know that himself.

McCain will lose Ohio because of the DHL job losses. McCain pushed hard for having foreign-owned DHL corporation buy out an American company, Airborn Express, in Wilmington, OH. 5 years later, DHL is closing the Wilmington business and putting 8,000 workers out of a job. It cracks me up the way these bitter old women for Clinton bash Obama then they put McCain 08 Hillary 12. I don't know why...it just gets me laughing every time. They think they are making some sort of statement but it just looks really pathetic and sad. It gives you insight into their bitter lives....so, I guess I really should try harder not to laugh.

What do you know OBAMA, you're not even an AMERICAN?????

EBC   August 12th, 2008 12:24 pm ET

McCain doesn't CARE about your jobs or mine. He's got a $100 million dollar wife who buys him $500 pairs of shoes and $1,000 suits just to flap his gum and walk around like a stiff robot with nothing of substance to say.

This OLD WHITE HAIR DUDE continues to live in the past. He doesn't even know HOW to use the internet. Are you kidding me? This is the man YOU want to lead this country? A man who also confuses the Shiites and the Sunnis every single time he opens his mouth!!! He still refers to the Russians as CZARS!!! ha! ha! I mean, pleeeeez.

HOW many more of you are going to continue

1) LIVE IN THE PAST?
2) WANT your JOBS sent overseas?
3) KEEP paying the Iraqis BILLIONS a month for what?
4) WAIT for McCain to drill offshore in the hopes that in 15+ years he finally FINDS some oil?
5) SEE your loved ones sent into another WORLD WAR III to appease OLD WHITE HAIR DUDE'S political ego.
6) BELIEVE in a candidate who doesn't even KNOW how to use the internet? AND he's suppose to run our country? yeah...okay.

Geeez, let me see, this reminds me of someone we already know whose sitting in the White House already!! GET A GRIP PEOPLE!!!

Sharon Kitchen   August 12th, 2008 12:23 pm ET

Good job Obama camp......there are alot of things about McShame that are distasteful......the general public does not know all the harm he has done while those 27 + years in the "old" washington way of doing things has run rampid.......if they did,.....well they are starting to find out.

Shelley   August 12th, 2008 12:23 pm ET

McCain will only protect the "rich" jobs. If this country doesn't wake up and realize that McCain is just another Republican good ole' boy that can easily have his strings tugged to their advantage like they did with George W. then the U.S. deserves what we vote for!! We fell for George and look what we got. WAKE UP AMERICA..........OBAMA in 08!

WOW   August 12th, 2008 12:23 pm ET

pandering dolts. Laissez Fiare allows you to buy the best product at the best price (If made the best product, I'm sure our government would purchase it, but we don't because union's allow employees to be lazy and over paid). Barrak Obama is precisely what we revolted from in 1776. America has lost its work ethic... and I'd feel much worse for the blue collared populace if it worked hard and lost government contracts. There is a trend, it is easy to follow... best product, lowest price equates to more revenue (leading to more profit). The state (communism) should not get involved.

FL4Obama   August 12th, 2008 12:22 pm ET

Brilliant. Obama focuses on the substantive issues important to the American people based on McCain's voting record. McCain seems to prefer misguided rhetoric of celebrity and sacrilegious references. It makes the choice clearer in this election for many Americans. Obama '08

NotFallingInLine.org   August 12th, 2008 12:22 pm ET

It doesn't matter how many times Obama says the truth. He is BLACK and that is all many people need to know for NOT voting for him. McCain IS insane, but he is WHITE and that matters most for these voters.

AJ   August 12th, 2008 12:22 pm ET

Oh give me a break. Obama couldnt care less about the average American. Obama is concerned with what would be good for Obama and will say and do anything to get what he wants. I have been a Democrat all of my life but will be sitting this election out. The choices are dismal.

Yeah, you just keep reaching and making up new reasons to hate on Obama while Hillary slips further and further into irrelevant obscurity... You really make me laugh with your "McCain '08 for Hillary '12"..like THAT'S gonna happen if Obama loses this year..silly woman.

LS   August 12th, 2008 12:22 pm ET

Regardless of what is happening today with our deteriorating economy, no matter what is said or shown about McCain's negative intentions, and worse of all, seeing 4 more years of Bush in office, people are actually going to vote for McCain???

Why would anyone would want to risk 4 more years with the same results as the past 8 years?

Well, it's a good thing there are a lot more people who have a positive insight as to why Obama should be our next President, and see the obvious reasons why people choose to support McCain.

Obama/Clinton '08   August 12th, 2008 12:21 pm ET

It's been easy for Obama during the primaries to criticize Hillary's voting record, Mr. 191 Times Voted 'Present' in his State Legislator. He knew that would further polarize the divide between the Hillary Haters and those who know EXPERIENCE when we see it.

Now he's using the same ole tact on McCain. NEWS FLASH TO SENATOR OBAMA – It didn't work before and it won't work now. See it's easy to criticize others when you don't have a record to speak of. It's easier to criticze others period. What EXPERIENCE affords you to do is not only learn the word 'Humili te' as one learns but more invaluable to America, it affords you the ability to 'Talk the Walk'.

All we know of you is that you sound like a 'Walkie-Talkie with no workie experienci'

Don   August 12th, 2008 12:20 pm ET

McCains been in Washington 30 years and watched American jobs disappear, did nothing and now he cares. McCain can't relate to working people because he has never had a job, he just wants to be president. A vote for McCain will continue to destroy the integrity of our country.

Greg   August 12th, 2008 12:15 pm ET

So, how exactly does taxing corporations at a higher rate help protect jobs? Simple...it doesn't. Just like "windfall profits" tax (is 8% really a windfall?), anything done to increase costs of production will impact jobs negatively.

I don't understand how anyone can support someone who openly supports the spread of Socialism. I work for MYSELF and for my own benefit. I DO NOT work to improve the lifestyle of those who don't care enough about themselves to find a job!!

Liberal Republican   August 12th, 2008 12:14 pm ET

I personally think McCain's decision of basically banning "Buy American" campaign is great for the free trade, market driven society. By the government unanimously purchasing only American car, there're less competition to deal for our Amrican companies. Where there's competition, innovation is born, new ideas are born and qualities are also improved by simultaneously bringing down the price :-)

So sorry for the Harley Davidson guys but if they want to sell their bikes to the government, they must "COMPETE" with others and proove that their better than their competetors.

Good luck all our American companies.

Al   August 12th, 2008 12:14 pm ET

Debby, you missed the whole point. Who cares what the average citizen buys. McCain made it so that the U. S. Government does not have to buy American. In my opinion, the U. S. Government should buy American products and keep jobs and money in the hands of American tax payers. Look at the contract that went to Airbus instead of Boing. That provided a lot of jobs for another countries citizens instead of American citizens. Make jobs, don't ship them away.

Way to go Obama, some idiots can not understand what change is all about. Those of you who want four more bad years of bad business that go ahead.

There are some of us who really want America back on track, so please forgive us for wanting a better America.

We need jobs, better housing, gas, the war and healthcare. People need to get onboard for a better future for us and our children.

And I approve this message!

Roofin Reality, Houston, Tx.   August 12th, 2008 12:13 pm ET

kgb, probably a pseudonym for Republican, but why digress...?

now, nom from 11:57,
your SPECULATION is well taken if we take you at your word and your credentials. But here's the thing – we have DEFINITIVE numbers under the current administration. And since Senator McCain is advocating many of the same measures (and in fact has poistioned himself to stand behind President Bush 95% of the time over the last two years), why would you think jobs would come back under McCain?
Get back to us when you can conjure up something realistic. Until then, we need change and therefore we must go with Senator Obama. At least he wants to buy American. McCain not only opposed it but actually has lobbyist (perhaps similary positioned like you) to profit from those jobs going overseas.

Susan from Scotts Valley, CA   August 12th, 2008 12:13 pm ET

How is Buy American a bad idea? Yes we should have quality and the government can demand it through contracting. But keeping jobs in this country needs to be a critical component as well. If our own government won't support it, how can we expect the American people to follow suit.

The Republican agenda is going to spell the end of this country as we ship jobs overseas, give tax breaks to the rich, keep our poor sick and spend money we don't have to fight wars we don't belong in.

Debby @ 11:47: you did not read the article. The public can buy whatever brand they like. McCain voted against the GOVERNMENT purchasing american made bikes. Shouldn't we care where our tax dollars are spent? If the government wants to make purchases I prefer the 4 be spent here, not overseas.

McLame votes AGAINST most anything that the Dems suggest. In fact, he won't even propose bills in the US Senate that would benefit the public infrastructure here in Arizona – his home state! Why? Because he is against "earmarks" on principle, not merits.
Check the record, Arizona is ranked last in federal earmarks for infrastructure as compare to Alaska which is ranked number one. Given that do you think we can expect McLame to look out for US interests when it comes to jobs? I think not...

Nom Deplume   August 12th, 2008 12:08 pm ET

Europeans love Obama, right??? (at least those germans at a rock concert Obama spoke at did).

From The Economist (a U.K. publication).

" . . . On the economy, [Obama's] plans are more thought out, but he often tells people only that they deserve more money and more opportunities. If one lesson from the wasted Bush years is that needless division is bad, another is that incompetence is perhaps even worse. A man who has never run any public body of any note is a risk, even if his campaign has been a model of discipline. "

Mike, TX   August 12th, 2008 12:07 pm ET

Obama is so weak that his arguements are easily refuted. How's your vacation Barack? Thinking about a US response to Russian agression while lying on a beach in Hawaii? Thinking about how to find the electricity to run your electric cars that is not generated from coal while sipping that tonic?

Obama stole the primaries from Hillary. A neophite and egomaniac is the presumptive democratic nominee. How sophmoric can one get?

Chips   August 12th, 2008 12:07 pm ET

McCain on the other hand mispronunciation will have us fighting the wrong country/people.

People are so stupid. Corporate control of America happened all the way back to the East India company and ended with the Boston Tea Party. Then again Rooselvelt had to stand up to the Fascism (look it up Repugs it means marriage of Corporations and Government).

Once again we are faced with corporations controlling our media, stealing our jobs and hiding their profits in Dubai.

It is once again time for a Revolution of the common folks – it is time for Obama!!

Kevin   August 12th, 2008 12:07 pm ET

Obama are you for free trade or not? If The US government has a policy of only buying from US companies then other nations will just do the same and buy from their own native companies and that will mean the US does not always get the best. Obama you are just playing the old kind of politics here putting anger and fear into peoples mind instead of trying to make people competetive.

The government's job is to not choose which companies survive and which don't. The government ought to run as cost-effective as possible. Let the American consumer decide if Harley is worthy of business, not some politician in a slick suit.

Too many Americans expect the 'government' to do way to much. The govt is just a bunch of over-paid, over-comped, all I care about is job security bunch of folks. Look at the DMV! They don't care how long you sit in line for because they still get paid if zero people walk thru the door.

The government is not the answer, Mr. Obama.

-He campaigned hard for George W Bush and helped Bush win two very close elections!
-He dumped his first wife after she gained weight from car wreck injuries- and married his younger prettier heiress mistress!
-He knows how to dress- he shoes cost 500 dollars!
-He doesn't waste his time taking questions from reporters anymore!
-Why wouldn't we want a Republican in charge for another four years? Look how wonderful things are going in America right now?

The democratic agenda will cause jobs and benefits to disappear. Period. So sure of I about this that I am putting my money on it.

Vote Obama if you like. He will raise your wages and force your employer to admit unions and raise benefits.

I'll be the one collecting my profits when the company goes under or is bought out and moves overseas.

McCain or Obama–Matters little to me since I either profit on the McCain rally, or make money dissolving companies ground into dust by the Democrats.

Mr. Obama, we're intelligent. We understand that you pander to the unions who've bankrolled you with the greatest amount of monies ever given to a candidate. However, " buy in America" does not mean we throw away sound economic policies to advance protectionism. This country is founded upon and has a lengthy track record of supporting an open market, where buyers and sellers seek to meet their needs based on price and quality of goods.
If your policy is "buy america" then kick out Toyota, Nissan, et al, and see how consumers will react.
We're getting tired of your populist, pro union, against free enterprise ideas cleverly masqueraded and unquestioned by outlets like this.

In fact, I don't know of any bill Obama has ever sponsored? Our government, democrats and republicans alike have sold us out to cheap foreign labor, both in this country and abroad. It is up to us to vote all the bastards out of office.

McCain’s strategy is to keep the new organizations busy pumping out junk news about Obama to obfuscate his own murky past and present flip-flops. Obama is amazing in who he keeps focus on the real, meaningful issues. Obama continues to show extraordinary leadership far from the “empty suit” McCain has tried unsuccessfully to portray him as.

I like that ad. Points out legitimate criticisms based on McCain's voting record, and there aren't any celebrities or movie clips that make it totally laughable and unworthy of any campaign, much less one for president.

and dont forget his betrayal of boeing and this country. mccain worked for EADS (a EUROPEAN company), getting them a contract worth BILLIONS from OUR air force. Mr. Military Hero took jobs AND MONEY away from an AMERICAN company and gave it to a EUROPEAN company.

so we have FOREIGN countries making OUR military equipment--NICE, john mccain.

shouldnt our OWN country be producing for OUR military, and made by AMERICANS making good wages?!?!?!?!

keebler   August 12th, 2008 11:49 am ET

Obama!!!!!!! We need more of the truth serum. This is the kinda of Attack WE NEED TO SEE FROM YOU. But once again you're responding. CREATE A NEW LINE!!!! not only responses.

California Gold   August 12th, 2008 11:49 am ET

It doesn't make any difference to McCain: he doesn't remember voting against "Buy American" nor does he remember saying that "Buy American" requirements for the American government was "disgraceful". His record of votes against "Buy American" stands and is a matter of record no matter how tough he talks.

Next he will be calling for Congress to come back and vote to "Buy American".

This guy is all show and no go.

LAME.

Michelle   August 12th, 2008 11:48 am ET

WOW.....good! I am glad to see Obama is taking the gloves off now. I am a 37-year-old first time voter and I have NEVER been excited about politics in my LIFE! I never really read anything pertaining to "politics" but this moment, this time, this year, I am voting for the first time. I am so excited, I can't get enough of politics now. woohoo.....

go Obama.

Typical White Person   August 12th, 2008 11:48 am ET

Protectionism at it's finest. If an American company can't compete then we have to have government mandates to keep it in business.

This is what Obama wants folks. Don't be fooled. He thinks more government regulation is the answer to everything.

Abby   August 12th, 2008 11:47 am ET

“Back in Washington, McCain opposed a requirement that the government buy American-made motorcycles.”

In 2003, the Arizona senator introduced an amendment that ended the ‘Buy America’ requirement on government purchases of equipment.

Clinton/McCain   August 12th, 2008 11:47 am ET

That's all they have on McCain? Pretty sad. I can't wait until the fall when the Republicans unravel Obama's horrific statements made in his memoir, statements the msm have avoided for months. Maybe then people will realize what Obama REALLY means by 'change'.

Debby   August 12th, 2008 11:47 am ET

So whats wrong with this the government shouldn't totally rule on what we buy and what we don't. You can say the same for German, Swedish, Japanese etc. vehicles that have dealers all over the US. Harley Davidson is the symbol of the US. I see more Harley's than any other ricer around so this radio add is another idiotic attempt by the Obama camp. If people want a Triumph, or an Italian racer they will import it anyway so I don't see the point again Obama is trying to make. I wonder what the Obama family drives. LOL

Enlightened voter   August 12th, 2008 11:46 am ET

Obama could slam anything. He couldn't beat his way out of a wet paper bag unless his advisers told him it was OK or he read it on the teleprompt.

Dan, TX   August 12th, 2008 11:45 am ET

More political pandering in half-truths. Did Obama ever have any positions in the Senate besides 'present'?

Anonymous   August 12th, 2008 11:45 am ET

I like this ad.

dave in RI   August 12th, 2008 11:44 am ET

sounds like a powerful attach ad. It's about time

INDEPENDENT NYC   August 12th, 2008 11:44 am ET

And Obama's plan of redistribution of wealth will work. His economic plan is like his environmental plan of CAP and trade with no new room for growth. Keep following the pied piper and see what happens to us taxpayers.
