Obama unwinds on Hawaiian holiday

Obama took a break from his week-long vacation to weigh in on the Georgian crisis.

HONOLULU, Hawaii (CNN) - How do you spend your time in a state famous for its sunny tropical skies? You spend your afternoon in a movie theater.

Sen. Barack Obama did just that Monday afternoon, taking in a matinee of the latest Batman sequel, 'The Dark Knight' - and giving him an opportunity to assess the acting ability of campaign supporter and Democratic Senate colleague Patrick Leahy of Vermont, who makes a cameo appearance in the blockbuster film.

Watch: Obama arrives in Hawaii for weeklong vacation

Post-movie, Obama went for a 4-star meal for the second time this week: Monday night it was 'Mariposa' at the Honolulu Neiman Marcus. The restaurant's Web site promises exceptional Hawa'in cuisine served on an open air lanai, situated to catch the island's legendary sunsets.

Activities for the Hawai'ian-born presumptive Democratic nominee so far have included a jog along the beach, a round of golf, and a carbeque along the North Shore, which is known for its killer surfing. Obama has also made several visits to his grandmother, who has lived in Honolulu for 50 years and who he affectionately calls his 'Tùtù.'

What is a "carbeque?" Oh, I know, it's like a carb-loading barbeque! Do they grill pasta?

CNN = worst proofreading team on the web.

Meanwhile John McCain is claiming he is responsible for making Hawaii the 50th State and his energy policies were what made the weather favorable to growing pineapples.

so? That's the best you can do? Why'd ya bother posting at all? The man needs some downtime to unwind after putting up with McCain's immaturity and Mark Penn's staggering stupidity trying to divide the party for his own sorry gain.

Obama get some rest, or you will end up looking like your competitor: tired and worn out looking.

    I second that cj!!!
I think the media, J/M, RNC and the GOP are going to get a rude awakening when his team really step up the campaigning!! I think everyone is really under estimating what he is about to happen in the next few months!!!

All i can say is WATCH OUT!

Take your time and get some R&R, Senator. Then you'll be ready for the long haul.

Meantime, McCain is being handled beautifully by your staff. He's being shown up as the anti-job, big oil-loving, saying-anthing-to-win Republican politician he really is!

Hey the guy deserves a break. Since McCain doesn't work on weekends he can afford not to vacation. By they way McCain will have much time to vacation after November.

    Things younger than John McCain:
    Howdy Doody
    Area Codes
    FM Radio
    Peany Butter & Jelly sandwiches
    Automatic Car Transmissions
    40-Hour Work Week

I'm leaning towards voting for the presidential candidate NOT endorsed by the worst president in American history.

Why is the media following him around on his vacation? Can't he have a little down time with his family (esp. Grandma). Please!!

This is nonsense, I dont care what he eats, what movie he saw, or any of that, basically he done what any of us would do, provided we have the time and money to do it, if the media had anything constructive to report they would say Obama is on a short vacation and leave it at that, but they are part of the problem , we he comes back from vacation, they can monitor his every move, including how many brush strokes he used when he was brushing his teeth...this is pathetic.

    Texas Trail Dog,
I bet you can't even espouse 'why' you hate the Senator from Illinois so much. (other that what Fox news has pounded into your psyche over and over)...

but taking a cheap shot, for the sake of taking a cheap shot... it is just stupid, petty, little, small minded,

(unless, of course, you are one of the people on these blogs who are paid to spread hate from any Democrat who happens to breathe)...

a la.... (wait for it).... FOX NEWS...

dude... turn the channel... try the BBC for some OBJECTIVE news.

LOL! Actor George Clooney is in constant close contact with Obama, advising him on body language, the Middle East and Iraq! You just can't make stuff like this up! The man is the quintessential slick, Chicago-style politician.

An agressive Russia invading a democracy and he is on holiday. Hurm I guess Obama and Bush have more in common than I thought--------------------------------

What exactly, according to you and given your expertise, should Senator Obama do at this present time in the Russia-Georgia conflict? As a presidential nominee and Senator, he would not be in a position to make nor take any diplomatic policy stance as would or before the President of the United States or the Secretary of State. There is a chance that Russia will veto any action taken by the UN and Georgia isn’t a member of NATO as of yet.

    Stop blowing hot air.
