Will Clinton's name go into nomination? Stay tuned

Sen. Hillary Clinton can win votes from delegates at the convention even if her name isn't placed in nomination.
Sen. Hillary Clinton can win votes from delegates at the convention even if her name isn't placed in nomination.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - If Sen. Hillary Clinton's name is placed in nomination in Denver, Colorado, this year, it wouldn't be the first time that a candidate was beaten in the primaries and still formally contested the nomination at the convention.

But it would be the first time in the modern era of presidential primaries that a losing candidate has so visibly endorsed an opponent so many months before the convention, and then gone on to have his or her name placed in nomination.

CNN Election Center: Who will be Obama's VP

Clinton can still win votes from delegates at the Democratic National Convention even if her name is not placed in nomination. Delegates are free to vote for anyone they want to at the convention.

At past conventions, delegates have even been known to vote for fictional characters (Archie Bunker) and dead people (George Orwell).

It's likely that Clinton will pick up some votes unless Sen. Barack Obama is nominated by acclamation.

If her name is in nomination, or she supports any thing that will be disunifying at the convention, she wil not get my vote in2012. It is an outrage that she is contributing to disruption at the convention!

I will never vote for Hillary in 2012 if she somehow screws this election up for Obama. Not only will I not vote for her, but I will join anti-clinton campaigns as well. Right now though I still love her and think she is great. But now its time to prove to her party (which she supposedly still believes in) that she is a team player...

Btw any woman who votes for mccain deserves the chastity belt he will give you. Luckily I live in California where no matter what we will always have abortions...

I have no concern if they put Ms. clinont's name out for nomination as she will NOt win no matter how much her supporters wish it. The Democratic party has gotten behind their candidate and the Superdelegates will vote for him. The pledged delegates HAVE to support the delegates they are pledged to (in the first round unless releasede by the candidate) and so Mr. Obama will take the nomination in the first round and Ms. Clinton will be able to say she was doing it for her supporters, which I do not believe. But I reccommend that Mr. Obama remove her from the scheduled speakers if she does leave her name on so she will not have a platform to further smear his name. He is a good person, however, and so will not do that, unfortunately for him.

If Clinton doesn't get the nomination and doesn't get the VP slot, you can bet that she will continue to work for the people of the United States to improve our health care system and work through the challenges yet to come. She is an advocate for the people and she will continue to work to make our country better, whether as President, as Senator or some other capacity.

  8. Hello!!!

hey biff biffington.....do you know about the chaos that the delegates are planning if her name is NOT called at the convention?????? This would make them happy and provide a more respectful convention. Her supporters just want respect. Something the DNC, media, and BO supporters refused to give her.

HOW EXCITING CAN A CANDIDATE BE THAT WHILE HE'S ON VACATION THE NEWS HAVE BEEN SLOW INCOMING. AND WHAT DOES THE MEDIA DO? THEY INVOKED HILLARY RIGHT BACK INTO THE NEWS OR ASK OBAMA WHY HE DIDN'T COME BACK TO THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL BECAUSE OF THE RUSSIA AND GEORGIA CONFLIC WHILE THE SITTING PRESIDENT IS ENJOYING THE OLYPICS IN CHINA. IF THAT'S NOT BIAS AND DISPARITY IN TREATMENT I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS.

I watched CNN dig into Obama yesterday for being on vacation while there's a conflict btwn Russia and Georgia. What the commentator forgot to mention was that the sitting President was in China enjoying the Olypic games.

Everyone should just back off Hillary & Bill. They aren't the one's saying this and that, it's the media just trying to get ratings. They know as long as they keep bringing up Hillary that people will tune in. They love the drama. Unfortunately, OBAMA is the nominee and Hillary is trying to support him. She is campaigning for him for pete sake!!! The media keeps saying all this about how "is she really trying to help him", "does she really want him to win??" Give it a rest!!!! Of course she wanted to win but due to the bias media coverage and the hag Pelosi...she didn't and know she's being a true Dem and supporting him...so give the poor lady a break!

Something is strange about this campaign year...Something is definently wrong...and Obama even gets more queer as time progresses. I think Obama will do anything to get a vote. Too bad none of us seem to really know him.

Well PUMA's I kind of hope they do submit her name and she some how pulls out the nomination. Then all of the Obama supporters can cry, kick our feet and pout, all while voting for John McCain and sending our country into ruins. Sounds like an excellent idea. Whats that you say?
Oh I see, we're being immature and childish. Hey, we learned all the tricks from you.

  23. MCCAIN ALL THE WAY

When Obama loses in November it's going to be labeled as Hillary's fault no matter what she does...so if I were her, I would run on an IND ticket or pursue McCain to be his VP and say to heck with the DNC...they sure didn't care how they treated her. She can't win for losing...no matter what when the Golden Boy doesn't win all the true racists out there and the media will swear that it was Hillary's fault. Must be nice to have so much power :)

Hillary's supporters are a collection of ill mannered, ignorant prima donnas. Obama won the delegate count fair and square, according to the DNC. The Clintons are egotistical pigs who won't take no for an answer. She is a lying, manipulative sociopath. Be prepared for the riots if she ruins Obama's victory,. The Clintons are lying, backstabbing, manipulative slobs.

BTW, to all you idiot PUMA pigs ( a collection of disgruntled women, who husbands have left them for younger, prettier women–no doubt) She'll be destroyed by Obama's legion of supporters if she tries to come back in 2012. AND–just because she places her name does not guarantee that she'll be the nominee. There are rules, even for the fat pig Clintons.
