Barack Obama is up by 6 points in the latest CNN poll of polls.
Barack Obama is up by 6 points in the latest CNN poll of polls.

(CNN) – Barack Obama continues to hold a solid lead over John McCain with just over 80 days remaining until the presidential election, a new CNN poll of polls shows.

According to the average of several recent national polls, Obama registers 47 percent among registered voters nationwide with McCain at 41 percent.

That lead has basically held steady over the last two months: A CNN poll of polls on June 20 also had the race at 6 points, 46 percent to 40 percent.

The national general election poll of polls consists of four surveys: Pew (July 31-August 10), CBS (July 31-August 5), AP-IPSOS (July 31-August 4), and Gallup tracking (August 10-12). The poll of polls does not have a sampling error.

I love John McCain, but that idiotic Paris Hilton add really tarnished his once-great image. Apparently sometimes you can underestimate the intelligence of the American public, and in this case, whatever genius came up with the add proved the point. C'mon guys, how 'bout engaging in a civil campaign and addressing serious issues?

US it seems losing the leadership to Europe and the last crises in Georgia showed clearly. With McCain I am sure USA won't gain any trust from the world.

This is like a horror movie unfolding before my eyes. Democrats are about to control both congress and the white house. They will run our country into the ground. Stupid Obamabots.

As long as the Senator from Illinois wins the election, I don't care what the margin is. We need a Democrat in the White House.
the Senator from Arizona is sounding more strange every day. He is totally out of touch and determined as hell to get us into another conflict.

Pundits were trying to say John McCain is catching up.

Despite all the egative ads he remains 6 points below Obama

Soon or later all Americans will see through his misleading negative ads and then the margin will increase dramatically.

    Go Obama 08

As much as I love Hillary, it will be impossible for Obama to lead with Hillary at his side. There cannot be two or three president, in additions the repugs will use the words of Hillary against Obama.

McCain is not nice at all. War war andar. Now he wants to go to war against Russia because "we are Georgians". My friends let this McOld go home!

The problem is that historically at this time of year the democrats are ususally ahead by 20 – 25 points in the polls.

A 6 point spread is nothing this time of year, you may as well call it tied.

Hey Bob, you identified the "endless war" as being your concern.

What makes you thik Obama will end it? He originaly said he would, now he has come out and basically said his "timeline" will be subject to preconditions on the ground. That sounds very familiar. . . .ya, I know why. . . . .McCain has said this from day one.

So, why are you under the impression Obama would be bette than McCain when it comes to this "endless war"?

As far as I can tell, they have the same views, and, I would rather have McCain, a man who has MANY more years of experience with foreign affairs.

    Just my thoughts!

If you include the Rasumssen daily tracking poll, which gives Obama a small 2 point lead, your poll of polls would be lower!!!! Why didn't you include the Rasumessen poll? Oh, because it would bring down Obama's numbers and we can't have that. Pretty bad CNN.

To: Wow a Person who hates America is winning over Americans?

Obama and his wife do not hate America. It was just a thesis paper. The school didn't seem to have a problem with it. The Reverend Wright only speaks for himself, not Obama. He's not an empty suit. Your must be a Hillary fan, a McCain fan, or just someone whose really scared because the reality of the situation is that he will be the next president. You know African-Americans are citizens of this country too. The Constitution does not say that they cannot become the president.
Get a grip. Get a life. Go Away.

THE WASHINGTON POST JUST REPORTED: While Aide Advised McCain, His Firm Lobbied for Georgia

Sen. John McCain's top foreign policy adviser prepped his boss for an April 17 phone call with the president of Georgia and then helped the presumptive Republican presidential nominee prepare a strong statement of support for the fledgling republic.

Wow, So THIS is McCain's doing! He's such an LOSER when it comes to foreign policies.

He has sold his soul to the devil!! What a true American hooker!!

wow–we have one candidate for president who has not committed adultery. on the talk show haverdy??? asked, "if a man will not keep his promise to this wife why would he keep it with the american public". He was talking about Edwards-but when it was pointed out that mccain committed adultery the right winger said, "he had his body broken in prison" and "edwards wife has cancer". So the logic taught in college says, THEN IT IS OK TO COMMIT ADULTERY IF YOU WIFE IS NOT SICK OR IF YOU SERVED YOUR COUNTRY. by the way, i am a vet also and now have an excuse–my wife is not sick and i am a vet. wow

I'ts been amost a week + all wknd that John McSame had the floor to campaign all by himself; yet he is still struggling with the polls.

McIGNORANCE has not been able to break past 43%; spouting gibberish war "surge" about Georgia and how he has been jet skiing with the president as close buddies, yet CAN'T BACK UP HIS WORDS WITH ACTION!

My friends (cough*) John McSame has been talking this Washington game for 26 YEARS, AMERICA; YET he is only now realising that he has been on the WRONG SIDE of the issue all along!

John McSame judgement to lead = talk tough games just like he has been doing all his celebrity life in WASHINGTON!

John McSame = SAME OLD WASHINGTON POLITICS = TALK TOUGH, BUT NO ACTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OBAMA '08/'12 – YES, CHANGE IS COMING!!!!

Kerry and Gore were up by a lot more than 6 points at this points during their respective election cycles (try double digits). Moral of the story? Don't count on anything until the polls close in November.

I have a feeling there's gonna be a lot of backlash amongst the democrats once Hillary's supporters realize that she's not gonna be either a presidential contender or a choice for VP.

Once again, these polls don't mean a thing... let's see what happens in November. I predict Obama will lose. It may not be a landslide win for McCain, but it will be big.

Remember, John Kerry was always 'up' in these biased/liberal polls too and we all know how that turned out.

Was for Hillary, now for McCain.
