Obama up in Pennsylvania, New Jersey

(CNN) - New polls out Wednesday show Barack Obama is leading in two Northeastern states - one of which will likely play a key role in deciding the next President of the United States.

A Franklin & Marshall poll out of Pennsylvania shows the Illinois senator leads McCain by eight points (44-36 percent) among registered voters, while a Quinnipiac poll of likely voters in New Jersey puts Obama up by 10 there. The Pennsylvania poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.9 percentage points, while the New Jersey poll's margin or error is plus or minus 2.6 points.

Pennsylvania is a perennial battleground state and will be heavily contested by both candidates this fall. In 2004, John Kerry carried it by less than 200,000 votes. New Jersey may be a safer bet for Obama - the state hasn't voted for a Republican presidential candidate since 1988.

The truth is Obama is widely favored by the voters.

Attack ads won't stop anyone but the source of those ads: John "Bomb Them All" McCain.

What person in their right mind would take the 'experienced' war monger who voted 95% in favor of bush's policies over the guy with BRILLIANT judgement? BTW mccain is supporting Bush's request to rescind the edangered species list. There goes mccain's claim that he is an environmentalist.

while i am pro obama, im sick of these polls, why are we paying attention to these polls when the elections is months away

if these polls came out like 3 weeks before the election, then id be excited, until then, im going to ignore the media trying to make a big news story out of these polls (one week he's down, and the pundits declare Obama dead, the next week he's up, and its a different story, im sick of these superficial media reports!!!)

BE RESPONSIBLE AND REPORT THE NEWS FAIRLY, DON'T MAKE THE NEWS

LET'S GO OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DEMOCRATS IN 08!!!!!!!!!

Here we go with the bias again. Among LIKELY voters Obama is leading by just 5 points in PA. That's down 1 point from the prevous poll. Why did you decide to show the poll from the registered voters and not the poll from the likely voters like realclearpolitics has doen? WHEN WILL YOU STOP YOUR BIAS CNN????

Yes, Americans voting for Obama see the truth. Those who vote McCain...well voting for someone who is yet to tell the people what he is doing for America tells you a lot or better yet a little.

Oh yes, the Panamanian is fixated on Russia.

McCain's campaign is in trouble and if it weren't for the news media, especially his campaign staff at Fox and ABC, this thing wouldn't even be close. But folks are seeing the desperation of the Republicans coming out.

    Obama 08/12!!

The Democratic Party NEEDS a MAJOR! OVERHAUL!. Forget about 2008 (Barack's gonna come out short, i.e no 270 EV for him in Nov.) or 2012 (The electoral college's gonna change because of the 2010 Census). So start thinking about 2016. You got 8 yrs. You've! been! warned!.

  22. Am I still a republican???

    CNN. Post this one!<

Its strange how everybody hereis blaming CNN and other MSM. McOld fans say CNN is Obama's network and Barack's fans says cnn is given McDrill a free ride with all his mistakes !
Looks like this time all the karlrovians tactics won't work as easyly. You cant fool people 3 times in a row !
And to all die-hard republicans-dressed-in-Hillary fans, you'll experience a major desillusion in november. Time to join the ship!

Matthew, Philadelphia, PA – the real news is why the new guy on the block is continuously beating the so called 'experienced' guy who has been around forever? John McWar has not lead once in any poll i've seen, that to me and most people is news.

I'm cautiously optimistic also. Yeah, it would be nice if the numbers were little more for Obama but I think in the end both PA and NJ will see that more of the same will not help any of us.
I'm hoping that Obama is conserving his energy for a blitz in Sept and Oct. I think that the debates will be telling. McCain is already telling the media that he does not speak as well as Obama.

Luis, unless you have something constructive to say, why not just go over to Fox's boards. You sure are not making any kind of case for McCain.
