(CNN) - New polls out Wednesday show Barack Obama is leading in two Northeastern states - one of which will likely play a key role in deciding the next President of the United States.
A Franklin & Marshall poll out of Pennsylvania shows the Illinois senator leads McCain by eight points (44-36 percent) among registered voters, while a Quinnipiac poll of likely voters in New Jersey puts Obama up by 10 there. The Pennsylvania poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.9 percentage points, while the New Jersey poll's margin or error is plus or minus 2.6 points.
Pennsylvania is a perennial battleground state and will be heavily contested by both candidates this fall. In 2004, John Kerry carried it by less than 200,000 votes. New Jersey may be a safer bet for Obama - the state hasn't voted for a Republican presidential candidate since 1988.

if these polls came out like 3 weeks before the election, then id be excited, until then, im going to ignore the media trying to make a big news story out of these polls (one week he's down, and the pundits declare Obama dead, the next week he's up, and its a different story, im sick of these superficial media reports!!!)

Matthew, Philadelphia, PA – the real news is why the new guy on the block is continuously beating the so called 'experienced' guy who has been around forever? John McWar has not lead once in any poll i've seen, that to me and most people is news.
I'm cautiously optimistic also. Yeah, it would be nice if the numbers were little more for Obama but I think in the end both PA and NJ will see that more of the same will not help any of us.
I'm hoping that Obama is conserving his energy for a blitz in Sept and Oct. I think that the debates will be telling. McCain is already telling the media that he does not speak as well as Obama.
Luis, unless you have something constructive to say, why not just go over to Fox's boards. You sure are not making any kind of case for McCain.
