A Clinton adviser tells CNN her team worried about chaos at the convention.

(CNN) — A source close to Hillary Clinton insists the former presidential contender never pushed Barack Obama’s campaign to allow her supporters to place her name into nomination at the Democratic convention, and approached his team only when her camp grew “worried” over news that rising resentment among her most loyal supporters might lead to chaos in Denver.

The source describes negotiations between the Clinton and Obama campaigns as “collaborative and friendly” since she suspended her presidential run. But the source said recent talks had been focused on the logistics of campaigning for Obama.

“When [the primary campaign] was over, we sat back and waited to see what would happen,” says the Clinton adviser. “But the voices grew louder about what could come down at the convention, all those kinds of realities started to take place, the reality of what outside groups had in mind, the rumblings.

“More and more groups started to pop up. So we said ‘We are worried we are not going to be able to control it, that it might ruin the convention. What should we do about it?’”

The Obama campaign responded that Clinton’s name should be placed into nomination, says the aide. The source says that Clinton’s own suggestion at a recent fundraiser that putting her name in nomination might be “cathartic” for her supporters was merely a hypothetical response to a question.

The explanation comes amidst some complaints within the party that the Clinton camp has been out of line in its “demands.” Clinton’s supporters have also come under increasing criticism – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told one interviewer this week that the loyalists had been “less than gracious.”

Clinton herself is sending a letter to her superdelegates Thursday relating the decision, and the importance of unifying behind Obama while at the same time honoring everyone who participated.

The Clinton adviser said Clinton will cast her vote for Obama at the convention, and urge her supporters to do the same. Asked how Clinton, a superdelegate, would record her vote for Obama, the adviser said the actual details had yet to be worked out. It is also not clear whether the vote on Clinton’s nomination will be a voice vote or an electronic one, an option that has been raised in discussions.

This amazes me! Obama is the one who is destroying the party and she's the one who gets blamed unbelievable! I cannot stand this man and I hope that by placing her name up for nomination the superdelegates wake up and realize that she is the best choice for this country. Obama is nothing but drama and talk. He is the problem, not Hillary.

mary   August 14th, 2008 11:09 pm ET

As an Obama supporter, does Hillary really believe that if she usurped the nomination from Obama that I would vote for her now or ever should she decide to run in 2012. HA! She has another thing coming. If Obama loses, I will blame it on her and her sleazy husband and I will become an Independent and write in Obama's name.

Doesn't anyone commenting here know any history. Is this the state of American education. It is normal an expected that candidates names will be put in nomination for a roll call vote. The idea that she wouldnb't wasd the anomally and reflected the Obma' camps lack of perspective/

Frank from Peterborough   August 14th, 2008 10:59 pm ET

Most of the anti Obama comments you read in these blogs aren't either Democrats or Independents but Rush Limbaugh Republicans doing what their party does best is cover up the facts and the issues with slander and fear.

If Americans buy McCain then it will be incumbent on all other countries to start divesting their ties to the U.S. and let the country go where the voters have decided to take it.

Tammy - KCMO   August 14th, 2008 10:57 pm ET

I guess we will see at the convention what will happen. I don't trust her and I don't believe her. However, I would hope she isn't stupid enough to believe she would have the public's support behind her if she causes any problems. If she's wise, she will request everyone throw their support behind Obama when it's time for her to speak.

Erika, KS   August 14th, 2008 10:51 pm ET

Oh, it's always "Hillary cannot be trusted"… and similar crap. In reality, it's Obama who cannot be trusted. You way left wingers better watch yourselves before you fall over sideways! Clinton's career will 'not be over' as you nuts put it. In fact, I'd bet Obama will fall on his face long before Clinton ever will. She will be around for a long time. Obama? Well, it's just another question in a long list of questions about him.

From New York   August 14th, 2008 10:50 pm ET

Very very sad……all the pathetic Hillary' supporters are doing this move to take her "alive" and help her in 2012…..why now the Clinton has to help Obama if she knows that she will be honored to run in only 4 years??? and thousend young solgers will die in Iraq for her "nice" face. Shamed on you Clinton and her supporters!

Texas Trail Kitty   August 14th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

Texas Trail Dog, you are an idiot. Hilliary did not win and she is just a sore loser. If you can trust McCain, then you can trust Obama. What's wrong, are you afraid that a black man may be the best president of all??

ree   August 14th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

This is not the way to get Sen. Clinton supporters to vote Obama.

We accept she lost and we just don't feel like voting for him.

Can't trust someone who reminds me of Bush. Same inexperience, same attitude, thinks is knows it all.

Texas Trail Kitty   August 14th, 2008 10:43 pm ET

Janet, no,. Hilliary is not and should not be the nominee. Obama won and he should not be saddled with this dame. Geez people wake up. If you can trust McCain, you can trust Obama.

Texas Trail Kitty   August 14th, 2008 10:40 pm ET

Blast it all Hillary. Please go away. We need to win this one and you and those crazy PUMAS are not helping. I don't believe that you did not have anything to do with this. You lost. You may have gotten 18 million votes, but there are more than 18 million people in this country, so SOME OF THEM VOTED FOR OBAMA.

Obama can win without Hillary. Just like he beat Hillary and Bill, the so-called old pros, the so-call inevitables, he can be John McCain. He now has EXPERIENCE beating OLD Pros.

BILL NY   August 14th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

I am so shocked and disgusted by all of this PUMA crap. I believe the root of this is just racism pure and simple. For decades minorities have supported Democratic candidates over Republicans. If Obama loses because of this racist PUMA attitude I will personally encourage all minorities to move to the Republican Party. George Bush is probably the worst president in history but as far as his appointments go he puts the party that is supposed to be the party of all people to shame. The first and second minority Secretariesof state . What's up Democrats? There are white Democrats that are no better than the KKK! Minorities should not support a party that when it comes down to it really sees them as subhumans. I remember seeing this very rich white woman being interviewed on CNN talking about how she did not trust Obama and that he was elitist. This coming from someone who went out and made hundreds of millions of dolloars a quickly as she could while he wroked in the community for 20 grand. I bet if you went into her corporate offices the only black or brown faces are cleaning toilet bowls. After decades of a sneaky slave master mentality this is becoming the last straw for me.

KNOWWHAT?   August 14th, 2008 10:32 pm ET

Meglomaniacs and narcisissts [sp?] Whatever! Wonder if the shoe were on the other foot. If Hillary won fair and square which she did not, wonder if she'd like this happening to her. How you treat others speaks more to your own character than the person you are speaking about. I was Hillary fan until the Jesse Jackson thing, and never ever would have believed all the negative things written about them. Vince Foster killing himself and Hillary sending her aide to retrieve documents the night of the incident. Just don't trust them and just because my husband is a surgeon doesn't qualify me to perform surgery. All the hard work she has done for civil rights, etc., now pale in this shameless act of not wanting to take her azz home. Her supporters are pathetic and we shall see who needs who when this is all said and done. Hillary supporters have lusted for and tasted power for years only to have Obama beat her fair and square, yet she can't let go. I wouldn't want a woman in the white house who has whined and side stepped her way in. To me shows a lack of integrity on their part. For us Obama supporters Hillary is a necessary evil; but when you try to manipulate something, it NEVER TURNS OUT THE WAY YOU PLAN; THINGS COME IN TO PLAY YOU NEVER IMAGINED SO MARK MY WORDS AND REMEMBER ME WHEN THIS BLOWS UP IN HILLARY AND BILL'S FACE. They wll be sadder than Tommy Mottola and Mariah Carey when MC was up for 12 yet got NOTHING. Shameless is what this is. I have every belief that Obama will win because he's the right person at the right time. We need clear, transparent authentic leadership now, not someone preseving their legacy. To think I supported these people at one time. So, the bad things people have written about them ARE true. It's not about the American people; it's all about the Clinton egos and those who refuse to acknowledge that their time had come and gone and THEY LOST!

Obama O8   August 14th, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Hillary Clinton suporters crack me up with the constant threat that we need to suck up to them for support. If Obama loses to McCain, Hillary chances of winning in 2012 will be zero. For as many people who like Hillary, there are more who do not.

Charles   August 14th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

The pledged delegates Clinton and Edwards won in the primaries are required by law and DNC rules to place their votes for their designated candidate in the first round of votes at the convention.

To refuse Clinton delegates the opportunity to place their votes for Clinton would have broken the very rules that also gave Obama the nomination when a majority of the super delegates pledged their support to Obama.

RB   August 14th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

HRC had better figure out really quick that those puma and "no deal" idiots are republicans trying to kill two birds with one stone. I saw their sad excuse for spokespeople on MSNBC. They are idiots. HRC should denounce them immediately and bar them from the convention because those republicans only intend to stir trouble. Wise up HRC. John, you are a real American. Observer, you are half mind, eyes, ears, and brain. Curtis, if Obama really want to unify the Party, he sould accept Michigan and Florida revote, he blocked it. Sherry, Atlanta, I understand you, I switched party to Independent because DNC supported disqualified candidate, I will vote for McCain, I gave up lifelong Democrats. Cynthia, You think what the best for the Democrat Party, but I am thinking what is the best for our Country.
Henrie Ware, you are lower than fungus. Republican for Obama, liar, liar, liar, your judgement is groundless like Obama's. Ardnuas, Obama already destroyed his party by his supporters like you who don't know how to respect real qualified politicians. Read Obama supporter's comments, none of them know the truth. Anyway, what is Obama supporter's problem with Hillary supporter's justice? Why they are afraid if Obama won fairly at Primary Election? They knew Primary Election wasn't fair, Real Obama's face shows more and more, that's why they don't want Hillary's supporters right. We should play the fair game through the Convention.

Obama O8   August 14th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

Why is Hillary and her supporters still counting 18 Million? How many of the 18 Million where part of Operation Chaos? The latest polls suggest that Hillary does not have the support of 18 Million. In elections, no matter how close, the loser doesnt own voters. So I dont get this 18 million thing. Bill and Hillary are up to no good. The winner is entitled to the prize and the loser, no matter how close is in no position to bargain.

Don't get me wrong…she has every right because Obama is the PRESUMPTIVE nominee. The committee should choose between the two.

But the real tragedy is that the Dems and Republicans are both sacrificing our liberty and freedoms. So Vote for Barr!!

Chris In California   August 14th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

Barack Obama thumbed his nose at Hillary Clinton and those of us who support her and now he is trying to play nice? It makes me even angrier than I was before.

I believe he is responsible for the disenfranchisement of voters. I believe he demonstrated sexist actions during the primaries - he also never spoke out against the media misogyny that took place. I think he was arrogant in thinking he was going to succeed in his self-serving goals without us… Now he knows he needs us to win.

There may be a portion of Hillary supporters who will vote for Obama, but I will bet that the majority will get into the polling booths and write-in Hillary Clinton's name or vote for John McCain.

There was a time that if Obama had picked Hillary as his VP runningmate, I and others like me could have had some healing from the disgraceful things that took place during the primaries. But now, I cannot let go of all he and his camp have done - playing the race card on Bill Clinton who does not have a racist bone in his body and who was entirely undeserving of that! And, thinking it was okay not to allow Florida and Michigan to have a Democratic revote and allowing the sexism without ever speaking up against it - I think he even participated in it. I think he is also responsible for allowing 30 people sitting around a table in a room to substitute the votes of legitimate voters with their own. His campaign said… oh, the Hillary supporters will come around… blah, blah, blah… It is NOT happening as he wished and I don't think it will. I think that he, the DNC, the RBC, Donna Brazile (a deceptive entity, in my opinion — and, a fake), Dean, Pelosi, et al… DESERVE to lose this election.

As a lifelong Democrat, I would like to see a loss for us in this election. I think we deserve to lose in November because of the anti-democracy that has been rampant throughout this election process thus far.

Donkey Party   August 14th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

What it amounts to, is Hillary and her rabid cultists holding the Democratic Party and future President Obama hostage to her self-serving interests. Thanks to the attitude and behavior of Hellary and her loyalists, I will find it nearly impossible to ever again consider voting a woman into the Presidency, thanks to the sore-loser mentality and overly emotional outbursts of her and her minions. By the way, she only got 17.4 million votes, that doesn't round up to 18 million, the amount that more closely represents the amount of Obama votes.

Obama O8   August 14th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

If Hillary support of Obama was genuine all this would not be happening.

Mariann Pepitone   August 14th, 2008 10:12 pm ET

Cathy: Where have you been? Obama needed the Clinton's that why he made calls to them and wanted them to endorse him plus campaign for him. Obama craves for attention that's why he chose so many speaker's at the convention. He already acts like he is the president. I agree with the book about him that was just published and the PUMA. They know exactly what they see in him that this generation doesn't. If they would stop drinking and start thinking they would be better off. This convention is going to be a mess like no democratic convention has ever been and Obama made this mess. Obama would never be able to run this country like McCain unless he had a VP that is well experienced and knows foreign policy. If he doesn' choose Hillary I hope the majority of her supporter;s then vote for McCain or write her name in.

i will never vote for a clinton again as long as i live. this woman pushed her agenda long after she knew she couldn't win. not only that but then she had the balls to ask Obama to help her raise $20,000,000.00 to pay off her bills which was half out of her own pocket. she not only has done both of those things she also split the party in 1/3 vs 2/3. as far as i can see it has to be all about the clintons well i got a news flash it's all about the American people. and thats why i will never vote for a clinton again.

What I want to see is the after the voting of the delegates that instead of Obama becoming the nominee, that the delegates vote for Hillary Clinton and she becomes the nominee. To on and beat McCain in November. Obama has NO chance of beating McCain in November.

I am on of those that will either write Hillary Clinton's name on the ballot, or I will vote for McCain before I would ever vote for Obama. The only way that Obama would get my vote is if Hillary Clinton put him on the ticket as her VP!

So much for caring about the future of the country. She care about Hillary, period.

J: Obama is a disgrace to the Democratic party because he has a background of being a racist, anti-american and white hating. A true American doesn't attend a racist church like he did for 20 years and then wants to be president of this country? You better get a grip. The voters that voted for him when he was campaigning are not true American's as far as I am concerned. McCain is a true American with a clean background, not a racist. Its people like you that are a ruination to this country like the rest of this generation's college student's with their drugs and booze. And Obama was a drugger himself. What a mess this country would be in if he is elected.

Stop the Drama, the Nominee Is Obama!   August 14th, 2008 10:01 pm ET

Sorry to disappoint so many of Hillary supporters that are wishing and looking forward to "fireworks" and any kind of real disruption at the convention. It's not going to happen. There will absolutely be a few outbursts and some sable-rattling by Hillsupporters at the convention. However, everyone is forgetting that the goal of the convention is to "UNITE" behind the nominee who won the primary, and that is Barack Obama. Believe me when I tell you, those politicians have been in this thing a long time and Hillary Clinton isn't the first candidate that has lost and wanted her name put in the nomination. The DNC has laid out the rules for puting Hillary's name in the nomination, the majority of the superdelegates aren't going to risk fruther dividing the party just to accommodate Hillary, and the most important thing of all, SENATOR OBAMA IS NO DUMMY (even Bill Clinton stated that on national t.v.), HE IS NOT GOING TO ALLOW SOMETHING THAT IS GOING TO HURT HIM! He will be the nominee. Trust me!

Katherine   August 14th, 2008 10:00 pm ET

I think it important that Hillary and her supporters save face. This is one election for the history books. It was a honor just to be a part of it on the forums.

I'm looking forward to this convention. Lots of drama. And Yes lots of Creative Artists. I'm also happy that the artists got involved this election year. Their voices count too and they have fans. Despite Rove and Schmit's plan to take them out of play and just label them all celebrities.

David from Ohio: I think you lost it. If Hillary's name is on the ballot even if he is the nominee that gives people the right to vote for her in the general election. And yes, she earned it getting cheated on the MI and FL delegates and also the superdelegates. Also, Edwards knew he couldn't win and should never have campaigned for the presidency. I think he did that so that Hillary would lose because he and the DNC didn't want Hillary to be president. Well, maybe so but who said that Obama would win the general election. He could lose and McCain win. No one knows what the outcome will be. Obama is having so many people speaking at the convention he must have a fear of losing. McCain doesn't need that many at his convention.

Typical Clinton supporter response… ummm… she's a strong woman.

Do you think we have elevated language going on in all this in some fun and jest between Clinton and Obama ? Catharsis ? Look that up as it relates to Greek drama. Thespis in the giant out door theatre of which was the hellenistic period. Prefer the comedies and Peace 421 BC ! Now enter Obama's reply today, Peace In The Kingdom ? You guys that's a musical parable about shalom and look it up ! You'll also see under the musical written,it's a jungle out there ! Us or them, more ! more ! more ! Isaiah 11:6-9. Look ,Roosevelt went to the convention and was shot delegates and won. Tell me who in America has ever heard tell of getting half credit for a vote. One way or another we'll peace out together and winner take all ! So,what will McCain be ? The Wiz of Oz ? Hee !

An Independent   August 14th, 2008 9:42 pm ET

I hope this really is a collaborative effort to strengthen support for Obama. I'd have voted for Clinton had she won the most delegates in the primary and been the Dem nominee, but seeing how she and her supporters have acted in the past few months makes me worried that she's got plans for a bunch of backroom deals to end up as the nominee.

I hope I'm wrong because if that happens, I think McCain wins in November and our country will go further down the tubes. If Sen. Clinton does what's best for the country and gives her unqualified support to Sen. Obama, then we can get to work on the recovery from the disastrous Bush/Cheney administration.

georgia   August 14th, 2008 9:41 pm ET

This is absurd !!! I've said all along the Clinton camp can't & should not be trusted !!!They have fractured the party worse than any Repub. could . I won't be surprised if she doesn't register Repub. next year. I hope New Yorkers send her packing as well in the next senate race.
I find it amusing that these "18 mill. backers " "love" her so much but won't pay off her debt. The party needs to put her on the shelf where she belongs. I've never seen a more decietful , self serving politician in my 59 yrs! Oh , I forgot about swingin' Bill !

Mariann Pepitone   August 14th, 2008 9:39 pm ET

Curtis: Why should she end her campaign. She got cheated out of delegates along with superdelegates and this is the best news ever. I agree with PUMA, good for them. If they didn't agree to put her name on the ballot all her voters could have written her name in during the election and that would eliminate thousands of votes for Obama. That's the good news, maybe not for you but for me and her voters. This was a dog eat dog campaign and and if I was Hillary I would not have endorsed him or supported him. If she didn't do that maybe some of the Governor's and Mayor's that endorsed her would not have endorsed Obama. And many of her voter's would vote McCain. I am not voting for Obama and hope McCain wins the election.

Love ya Hillary   August 14th, 2008 9:38 pm ET

I wish Hillary was the nominee. Trying to get past all that I know and frainkly disslike about Obama.

Joann   August 14th, 2008 9:37 pm ET

I really wish all you Obama supporters would just SHUT UP already with bashing Hillary. Whether you wish to believe it or not there 18 million people who did not support Obama and still there are millions not willing to support him. Obama nor his advisors are not stupid. If they want to get some of the Clinton supporters this is the exact thing that MUST happen, You are all so quick to run your little fingers on the keyboard and call her terrible names and place blame for what? She ran for POTUS, got millions of votes, how many of you couch potoatoes have ever come close to anything like this. Give her the respect she deserves and quit playing armchair politicians!!

bt   August 14th, 2008 9:37 pm ET

I really hate that her name is going to be placed in nomination…she lost and thats that…I don't trust them any further than I see them…the clintons and their clan…we know who has won so what is the point…they are going to get behind Obama or they are not…plain and simple…all the rest is b/s…..

Never Hillary   August 14th, 2008 9:36 pm ET

I am a democrat and I liked Bill Clinton but Hillary is disgusting. She has done nothing but divide the democratic party along with her supporters. She did not have 18 million supporter because some of those votes were from repubs and she still cannot manage to get her debt paid off. If she thinks her little prank will get her a nomination in 2012 she is dreaming. If O loses she will never be elected for president. The PUMAS seem to forget that in order for her to win she would need O's supporters. She will be trounced if she tries to run for president again she has let her ignorant PUMAS ruin her chances at being elected for anything.

None of the Above 08   August 14th, 2008 9:35 pm ET

For some reason I am not surprised this happened.

What is the rationale behind it?

I think something is being left unsaid.

Is the DNC worried about something? Is Obama worried about something?

Don't mean to sound like a conspiracy theorist but no politician (or political organization) ever gives the full story.

Paris   August 14th, 2008 9:28 pm ET

Even if she did push it was her right to do so.

Clinton, no, wait, McCain Supporter   August 14th, 2008 9:28 pm ET

Clinton didn't have to compromise. The Obama operatives are really quite cunning. Wait until it's safe to say we should count all the votes. Wait until enough delegates have dutifully signed on to back "The One."

Then avoid controversy and engage Clinton supporters by throwing them a bone.

But this is not about Clinton. It's about the DNC, Obama, Dean and the other thugs in $3,000 outfits chosen for the occasion.

I hope the Democratic Convention is a disaster. I hope Clinton supporters try to take over the podium, stage demonstrations, block streets.

Then I hope the Clinton supporters will all vote for McCain so we watch "The One" dig himself out.

Willy   August 14th, 2008 9:27 pm ET

Letting the camel (Clinton’s) stick its nose under the convention tent. This is where Obama will loose. The Clintons will suck all the air out of Denver. No bounce for the inexperienced one.

Robert   August 14th, 2008 9:26 pm ET

Let me just say this…….for months we have heard distain from Obamaites and their arrogance. They also have claimed all this time that we are just 'cry babies' and 'they don't need us' and 'there is nothing to this - they are just a loud minority' — 'they are not true democrats'.– and the most untrue on of all 'Obama and Clintons are very similar on issues' (by the way - until he flip-flopped on major issues, that may have been close to truth - no longer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…………………….Last laugh is ours idiots.

We have know all along that we are a huge factor and WITHOUT US Obama will loose - and all this kiss up will not change that he will loose! I heard a report today that no matter what Obama is the nominee ———————————Loser!

So your 'win' was short lived Obamaites…….we fighters are for what is fair and right (not Wright) will prevail and our votes in November will hand Obama a huge loss. He is NOT what America needs. But for all those egomaniacs…………….ha ha ha What a weak creep!

We are 18 million strong - still - Obama is weak and succomed to the Clinton power - she is the better politican, she is the better leader, she is what America needs. As always (look back at the debates) Obama following Clintons lead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loser! Vote for America……..DO NOT VOTE FOR Obama!

I doubt there will ever be unity in this year's Dem Party. Hillary has made it too devisive. She and her supporters just can't get over it. She HAS to be president, dammit! Obama's camp should NEVER have allowed this. Her people will never give it up.Clinton and her suddenly racist husband will campaign only half-heartedly. The pathetic, childish Clinton backers will only prolong their temper tantrums. Imagine somebody who calls himself a Dem saying he'll be gleeful if McBush wins. Hypocrisy at its worst! I'll be booing Billary in front of TV, then I'll switch her off.

A catharis ? Is there elevated language in jest going on in all this or simply a hypothetical reponse to a question ? Umm ? In the Aristotelean tradition, serves the purpose of purging the soul of the fear and pity which most of us carry around,Aristotle called this a catharsis. Thespis in the giant out door theatre of which was the hellenistic period viewing Greek drama. It's a comedy and Peace 421 BC ! Now let's look at Obama's response today stating,"Peace In The Kingdom." You guys that's a musical Parable. Look it up ! A musical parable about shalom. Also ,under the caption of you'll see,It's a jungle out there! Us or them,More! More! More! Isaiah 11:6-9. Or is it,"Just my imagination once again, running away with me…" They're both pretty clever ! "Follow the Yellow Brick Road !" Ha ! Go Clinton !

One can understand letting her name be put in at the convention But still be cautious because Hillary talks like she lies. And that is why very people trust her.

Bill may be the appointed 'bad guy' since he cares little of anything any ways. He says they tried to impeach me and it just rolled off. And now I'm the untouchable because they invited me to speak.

Be ready to turn-off the mikes!

First we are not Obama fans, we are Obama supporters. You can stop pretending you are anything but a sheep who will spew out republican talking points. I know Sen. Obama is the biggest celebrity in the world. Yet, at the same time all of you mindless sheep are calling him the worlds biggest celebrity, you are saying that nobody knows enough about Obama. He is too risky because he is unknown. SO WHICH IS IT. IS HE THE WORLDS BIGGEST CELEBRITY OR IS HE TOO UNKNOWN. YOU CANT HAVE IT BOTH WAYS!!

independent   August 14th, 2008 9:19 pm ET

I still can not trust anything she says. I think I'll nominate Jeb Bush.

CM   August 14th, 2008 9:19 pm ET

Lets be real people. HRC's name is gonna be in nomination but the supers won't suddenly lean towards someone who hasn't been campaigning since the primaries ended. Obama has also been estimated to have over 66% of HRC's supporters now in his camp. 18 million voters is now a myth, I'd be surprised if she could muster even half of that now.

Those who seem to be pushing for something to happen better get another excuse ready as to why they won't vote for Obama now. Leave the drama for the soap operas, we're out to take back the WH come Nov.

Another reality check here, do the PUMAs actually think HRC can come back at the convention and then people would magically fall in line behind her? And if you vote for McCain and by some miracle he does win then how are you so sure that HRC would be nominated next 4 years when many still blame her for fighting an unfair primary campaign?

RJ, CA   August 14th, 2008 9:17 pm ET

It's not easy being green — is it, Obama? Darn! People just don't take you seriously!

Koral   August 14th, 2008 9:16 pm ET

If Barack Obama had lost (and remember, she had nearly half the Democratic vote), I would completely support his name to be placed into nomination. These were two historic candidacies. They are two great candidates who both deserve to be honored at the convention. It's about symbolic, stupid!

Obama's supporters would do well to follow the lead of Obama himself and take the high road. You know, the one of integrity.

The Obama team is simply writing the convention script. Conventions used to decide something. Now they're media events. The reality is settled. Prediction: Hillary will bask in the name in nomination hoopla and then withdraw her name for the good of the party. If she inflicts a vote on the convention, she's not serious about helping Obama, but I think she does want him to be President now that she can't be.

Salina   August 14th, 2008 9:10 pm ET

Hillary and her crazy outrageous supporters are a disgrace!!! She is supporting this garbage and I hope she gets booed off the stage at the convention. The DNC should disallow her from attending the convention. Divide and Conquer, that's their motto.

But it won't work. Obama will be our next President.

Let us get this straight people, Obama was not elected he was selected and that leads to a dictatorship.

This is America for God sakes, not some Russian backward country. Votes are suppose to count and every vote should be counted.

Disenfranchising Americans, caucuses vote intimidations, all third wolrd tactics.

The Wrong has to be made Right!

A closed, private, personal vote between Obama and Clinton should be the first order of business, and may the best wo/man win!

Donna from Colorado Springs   August 14th, 2008 8:55 pm ET

I'm sorry Hillary. I once was one of your supporters. No more. I loved it when Bill was the president, The economy was wonderful and everyone had jobs. That was then. Now, I feel that you and Bill are trying to undermine the huge accomplishment that Obama has made by beating you fairly in the primaries. I just feel that you two are really trying to take over what should be Obamas shining moment because of jealousy and pettiness. Tone your appearance at the convention down and let someone else shine.

KC   August 14th, 2008 8:54 pm ET

Lies, lies, and more lies. She claims she did not want this to happen, but she has done nothing to stop it. Why didn't Hillary just say "NO" to having her name in nomination.

I use to have a large amount of respect for Sen. Clinton. However, her actions at this stage of the process are truly sad. I for one could never again vote for Sen. Clinton.

Obama and Clinton did not debate 21 times one on one. Obama refused and now he refuses debates and town hall meetings with McCain. Obama reads what is written for him and every time he doesn't he loses points in the polls. Wake up he is a script and he is trying to get elected without the people hearing Obama himself. His campaign knows he does not have a clue what he is doing.

All you Obama fans who are putting Senator Clinton and her supporters down about her name being place into nomination at the convention should get a grip! You should investigate what the convention is all about. This is nothing new. It is however the first time in sixteen years that it has been done but it is nothing unusual. If we can believe what the media is saying, it was Senator Obama who urged that her name be placed for nomination so quit blaming Clinton.

Of course the problem really is that Obama and his fans want the convention to be all about Obama, all the time , that is what this is all about. The media continues to do it's part by still making everything the Clinton's say or do negative. You Obama fans don't help the situation.

For all you Obama fans, please understand that not everyone thinks Obama is the one. Those people are not racist, hateful, sore losers or any of the names that are being thrown around. And, not all of them are white. Some people just don't think he was the best choice at this time. That is one of the greatest things about America, we don't have to vote lock step we have the right to decide who we think is the best person to run the country.

Clinton needs to do the right thing and insist that her delegates vote for Obama even if her name is on nomination. If Clinton plans on running for President in 2016 (after Obama '08 and '12) Clinton needs to support Obama 110%. Democrats need each other…so we can get this country back on track.

Remember…Obama needs the Clinton supports and Clinton needs the Obama supporters.

CAW in MD   August 14th, 2008 8:17 pm ET

Enough already. It's perfectly legitimate for Clinton to be in the roll call vote — it's how the convention usually goes. Obama will win the roll call vote, and it'll be over.

For all you PUMAs/disgruntled Hillary supporters — do whatever you like. You are irrelevant. Support who you like — that's your right as an American. Just stop boring the rest of us to tears with your juvenile whining. Own your choice, and go away. No lectures about how Obama split the party, or is to uppity, or is an empty suit — that's all baloney, and you know it. If you don't, then you're not smart enough to understand reality. Either way — go away.

Wow - it's so sad that the Clintons still won't let go. Of course the Clintons are pushing for this - anyone who thinks differently is pretty naive. However, It behooves the Obama campaign to make it took like she's being gracious lest they be accused of being unfair.

Well, as long as Obama ends up the official nominee, I'll endure the pain of sitting through a couple more nights of "Clinton glory" - it's their last time so let's let them have it. Then it's on to the White House!

Someone really needs to tell that darn woman that she LOST. As a woman , I just want to say that she is a poor excuse for a human being. I am so tired of her and her " supporters". Some supporters, why can't they take that same energy and PAY OFF HER DEBT. I hope that the people of NY give her a taste of what's to come in 2012 and vote her out of office.

mary   August 14th, 2008 8:01 pm ET

riigghhhttt. She claims she wants to be the first woman who is nominated at a major party campaign. Surprise! Or expose the lie, at it were. Your earlier post:

If this happens, Clinton will not be the first woman to have her name placed in nomination for president at a major party convention. Maine Senator Margaret Chase Smith was placed in nomination at the 1964 Republican convention, and New York Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm was placed in nomination at the 1972 Democratic convention.

Pelosi is who has ruined the democratic party–If McCain pulls a VP such as Rice Or Powell it's all over for Obama if he doesnt put Clinton on the ticket. Pelosi will get her political pay back.

Conspiracy theory!!!!
You don't have to take her word for it, and you don't have to like her.

The Clintons may be ambitious (so is BARACK) but they are not stupid (NEITHER IS OBAMA).
Nor are they so powerful that they can silence millions of people with a wave of a wand.

No superdelegate should or Will change their pledged vote during the primary (except Clinton), so Obama will win the nomination handily.

If you guys want to worry and sweat about it, knock yourselves out.

If this works for the HRC supporters, do u PEOPLE REALLY THINK THAT PEOPLE WILL VOTE FOR HRC IN 2012! OR ANY OTHER TIME PERIOD!!!!!!!

Rob indetroit   August 14th, 2008 7:57 pm ET

By speaking at the convention HRC and billthink they are setting up her run for 2012, but what you are really doing is ending your political life.!!!!!!

JIM...TX   August 14th, 2008 7:55 pm ET

SURE Billary had no part in pushing her name for nomination…and G Bush will go down in history as the greatest US President ever! What a witch…if she was trully behind the Party she'd denounce all this crap an really really get behind Obama. Don't hold your breath waiting on that though.

Linda31   August 14th, 2008 7:54 pm ET

I guess we conveniently forgot the little video of her talking to supporters about such a thing.

Copperfield   August 14th, 2008 7:52 pm ET

Being an Obama supported I was sort of apprehensive to this whole idea, but in truth, she did somehting historical and deserves the recognition. Hopefully it stays within reason though :)

REMEMBER THE MOVIE WHAT ABOUT BOB. SHE'S LIKE BOB, SHE'LL NEVER GO AWAY.

Sue/PA   August 14th, 2008 7:40 pm ET

Hillary Clinton's name will symbolically be placed into nomination at the Democratic National Convention, but then she will quickly turn her delegates over to Barack Obama and cast her superdelegate vote for him.

Read people…………symbolic not actual………..MSM's are making false fodder out of this. HYPE HYPE HYPE

Obama supporters and those attending the convention…do not boo or hiss about this….be dignified, simply because we ARE very dignified supporters..lets prove it.

Obama..The Peoples President 08/12

Pumas can only be racists, sneaky republicans, or man haters. There is no other logical explanation for their behavior.

Mary   August 14th, 2008 7:39 pm ET

Here we go again. Riling the Clinton supporters up again, then they'll fail, then the anger will return. Bad move. Hopefully by November they'll have moved past their anger and will vote for Obama.

JMM   August 14th, 2008 7:38 pm ET

It makes me laugh to see comments by holier than thou Obama supporters accusing Clinton of getting her supporters angry. She didn't make us angry, we think for ourselves, unlike them. Obama's campaign was negative, divisive and devious. He had his disciples do his dirty work so he would look clean. Clinton supporters are angry with Pelosi, Dean & the DNC for orchestrating his win. He is inexperienced and mired in crooked connections. He won't win because the Republicans will publicly hammer away at his past as soon as the convention is over and Clinton is out of the picture as she only suspended not ended her campaign.

Becky   August 14th, 2008 7:37 pm ET

She didn't have a choice but to concede. The DNC controlled what happened and crowned Mr. Obama the nominee. What a shame and a sham it all is. It would serve Obama, Pelosi, Dean and all of the other manipulative, jealous, spiteful people involved if Clinton gets those delegates and keeps them herself. We're all sick of this insipid Obama lovefest. He has shown NO SUBSTANCE at all! I want the man to debate without script. I want him to talk without a pre-written speech. Obama can't and won't do it. Do you ridiculous followers ever even wonder about that?

Vegas Barbie for Obama   August 14th, 2008 7:35 pm ET

Oh, she never "pushed" for it…how 'bout that footage of her talking to supporters in front of some building that looked like a small biz or house, and she spouted all her "catharsis" talk…lady this ain't THERAPY for your supporters, this is the Democratic Convention to give the nomination to the man who won it, not to give your pathetic, gotta-find-a-life supporters the warm fuzzies. What an appaling, pathetic maneuver on her part.
OBAMA/BIDEN '08 & '12 TAKE BACK THE CENTER STAGE PRESIDENT OBAMA!!
