Oprah to head to Denver for Obama nomination

Oprah hit the trail for Obama during the primary season.
Oprah hit the trail for Obama during the primary season.

(CNN) - Oprah Winfrey will be on hand when Barack Obama accepts the Democratic nomination in Denver – but the talk show host, who was a key presence at rallies for the Illinois senator during the primary season, won’t take the stage, a representative from her production company told CNN Wednesday.

The spokeswoman also denied rumors Winfrey was planning to spend thousands renting a home in Denver during the convention.

In June, shortly after Obama effectively clinched the Democratic nomination, Winfrey – who appeared with him in several key early-voting states, including Iowa, New Hampshire and California – said she was "euphoric” over his victory.

“I've been doing the happy dance all day,” she said in a statement then. “I'm so proud of Barack and Michelle and what this means for all of us, the new possibilities for our country.”

She added that she’d be happy to hit the trail again on his behalf: “And if he wants me to, I'm ready to go door to door."

Great news Oprah. Glad you are going; and glad you are taking a low profile. You have taken a lot of hits for supporting Obama; a lot of hits for giving to Africa... You know bettter than anyone that you cannot please everyone; and so I am glad you are thinking of "O' and also of what is best for Obama. Go girl!

Celebrities back McCain... nobody shouts but when they back Obama then it is bad... Folks grow up! I thought McCain's negative attacks will change the polls... but the reverse is true.
PUMA or whatever the call themselves take the challenges USA and the world faces seriously. If u stood 4 Clinton then u'll support Obama and not McWar.
So wake up and drop all these smears! America first.

    Another Celebrity moment for Obama.

Forget being our first biracial President – he will be our first "Celebrity" President who won with a marketing campaign rather than a political campaign.

I just don't know why it isn't a landslide yet. He should be up 20 points with all this going for him.

    Jack Colson,

Who can we trust to work on USA being American?
Who puts America first in America?
No matter how it is said, these comments seem awfully racist. I dont know if that is what you ment, but it sure comes across that way.

I agree with Opra here, where she says, "what this means for all of us...the new possibilities for our country.” NO more GOOD OLD BOYS NETWORK cheating the people in favour of Lobbists and the Elite at the very top in this world!!!!!!!!!!

Americans have lost all common sense and seem to forget that this is not a popularity contest .
Constant headlines bragging of which celebrity is endorsing whom , makes your election process nothing more than a page out of the gossip pages.
This is an unstable world we're living in , economy is in trouble and you have men and women in harm's way .
If you are saying that people like Oprah help you to make your political decision , than you deserve what you get.
No other country creates a media circus around political elections like you do .

You liberal democratic idiots with your name calling: McSame, McShame, McBush etc...you really are showing the magnitude of your intelligence. But hey, two can play at that game. Osama gets the backing from a firefighter's union?? Geez whiz, no one saw this coming.....morons.

Republican tyranny?? Hilarious. Let's just follow the Democrats idea of letting the terrorists do whatever they want. Let's not forget when these terrorists started organizing and planning their actions...yup, that's right, while 'ol Bill was getting pleasured from Monica. So shut your hole Susan.

I'd love to see McCain and Osama in a debate before the election...Osama would crumble at the idea of putting substance behind his ideas. Experience is huge, and serving in the military gives the Commander in Chief an added advantage, that's why I'm voting for McCain, and not Osama.

Oprah, Paris, Brittany, Osama....such a perfect fit. This Democratic campaign is comical that you base your ideals, values and morals on words from an inexperienced, untested person. Sorry to say, but I think Hillary would've actually done pretty well against McCain. But she has John Edwards to thank for that.

Wow!! Oprah at the convention?!? I'm buying my ticket now!!

She is a has-been and a joke. Went from saying she will never endorse a political candidate to making an exception based on race. Showed her true colors – lost respect of many.

    Stay home Noprah.

How could Oprah attach herself to Obama. Obama is the same man who promised to help fund the Kogelo runned down school in Kenya and he never delivered that promise. Look it up folks. If Obama delivered every promise he has made it would cost more than the war in Iraq. Maybe Oprah will help fund Obama so he can deliver his promise. We need a realistic president.

Why is it so hard for some people to just accept CHANGE?!!!!

Jack Colson, what do you mean by..."Has nothing to do w/color of skin, etc. Obama is 1/2 white and that should be mentioned moreso." I have always heard that if you are 1% black, you are black. I'm sure you have heard this, too. Besides, if people don't already know his racial background, then it's their own fault.

Oprah will, no doubt, have her own key to the Lincoln bedroom. I have not watched Oprah since she and Obama played the race card way back.

So Oprah used and keep using her power and money to support a candidate for the main reason of having an African-American first president. That is racist why not support or help a Native American, or a Hispanic candidate or cause. She is all about a section of America and not for the whole Nation. Is not only black people who have suffered discrimination in this country and this election had been only about that in complete disregard of the history of other minorities like Natives or Hispanics. After all they saw their land and rights taken away from them. But people like Oprah and Obama for their own selfish interest just present a portion of the story a portion of the whole History in USA.
