(CNN) - John McCain's campaign is denying Democratic charges the presumptive Republican nominee flippantly dismissed a new book attacking Barack Obama that includes several documented falsehoods.
Asked by the Associated Press earlier Friday what he though of author Jerome Corsi's new book, "The Obama Nation," McCain said, "gotta keep your sense of humor."

Those comments were immediately slammed by the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee, which e-mailed its 3.4 million supporters declaring, "John McCain thinks smears and lies are funny."
"Despite pledging to run a respectful campaign, McCain is just standing by while Corsi and his publisher, former Dick Cheney aide Mary Matalin, poison this presidential race," read the e-mail from DNC Rapid Response Team.
Watch: Is Obama being swift-boated?
But McCain spokeswoman Brooke Buchanan said later Thursday the Arizona senator actually did not hear the question, and would not be commenting on the book.
The book, which is expected to debut No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list, repeats many long-discredited falsehoods about the Illinois senator, including the claim that he is Muslim.
Corsi, who has said he's on a “mission” to take down Obama, also co-wrote "Unfit for Command" - the 2004 book that spawned the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth attacks against then-Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry.
huh?? what?? gotta keep your sense of humor.
Give me a book deal and I will gather all of the misleading and outright lies that I can find on McCain
McCain didn't hear the question? So why did he answer?
That old man McCain can't even lie effectively.
Of course McBush thinks that smear tactics and lie are funny, unless he happens to be the target. He tries to laugh everything off, but he is deeply involved in a smear campaign of his own against Obama. He is using typical republican tactics to get his message of lies across to the public. But, let me tell you that if this book by Corsi was directed at McBush, he'd be singing a different song.
I haven't read the book and don't intend to, but I would agree that, by and large, the Obama campaign and supporters don't have a functioning sense of humor. Too bad, too. There's a lot to laugh at these days.
If the rest of the world thought we were stupid electing W to four more years, I can't wait to see how we are perceived if McCain is elected president!
DNC and Obama are whining a lot these days.
STOP, this is not a fashion parade Mr Obama, compete diligently. fight it out like a Prez or keep crying and shutup.
If you have the facts, present them.
And send Kery packing, he will ruin your campaign, like he did to himself.
McSame didn't hear the question? What the heck is he doing running for President if can't hear?
President Obama all the way.
Yo lay off McCain! He gets a nap, you're gonna see some cognitive fireworks!
mcsame, mcold needs all the help he can, and it still won't help him. sen. obama, will be the next president of the united states of america. talking about sense of humour, mcsame has none. old goat.
He, it is still a free country (at least that is what it was until 0-babmi), a man can write whatever he chooses to. If the whinning o-bambi-bots don't like, oh well, too bad, free country, see if you could win in a court of law. Good luck. Too bad, live with it.
So is McCain prone to answering questions that he didn't hear?
The democrats are so stupid! This has nothing to do with McCain's campaign. The Dems are a bunch of wimps. That's what happens when you have a weak candidate.
He can dance,
He can lie,
Having the time of his life,
See that twirl,
Watch that scheme,
McCain's a dancing queen,
"gotta keep your sense of humor."
Apparantly McCrypt had the ABBA albums volume a bit to loud in the '70's and it has affected his hearing in his 70's.
Lol.....Wow. I've lost the little amount of respect for J McLame that I had. I like poster number 1 wonder if he would feel this way if we talked about the witch looking Barbie McLame???
McCain was in a meeting with Pickens. Reporters were far away. It was a photo op not a one on one interview. Cameras were clicking and there was comotion. McCain thought the question was about the attacks on Obama meaning the paris hilton ads. . McCain has many times said those ads were based on humor. This exchange is being taken totally out of context. Obama is many times asked on rope lines questions and doesn't hear the questions with all the commotion.
John McCain is either too old or too dishonest to be president. Take your pick.
Gimme a break! Tempest in a teapot. Obama ought to be concerned about and focused on the events in Georgia.
This is to easy...lol....lol....lol
Of course he has no comment. Like Bush, McCain knows that you have to lie, lie, lie, over and over and over again so that the brain-dead geriatrics and racists will believe you hook, line and sinker. Bald faced lies are his only chance at winning the presidency.
Talk about no character, an empty suit and no moral center! McIpedia is a lobbyist-supported, GOP lackey!
THEE MAN IS A OLD OLD BUSH AT HEART
GET OFF MY LAWN!!
Why doesn't someone have the balls to sue slime like this Corsi for
slander and defanation of character...what he is writing is known to be false, is harmful to reputation, and are lies with intended consequence.
Where are the people who will bring suit? and why aren't even honest Republicans (if you can find any) as outraged as normal people?
