Campaign says McCain didn't hear question on attack book

McCain isn't commenting on Corsi's new book.

(CNN) - John McCain's campaign is denying Democratic charges the presumptive Republican nominee flippantly dismissed a new book attacking Barack Obama that includes several documented falsehoods.

Asked by the Associated Press earlier Friday what he though of author Jerome Corsi's new book, "The Obama Nation," McCain said, "gotta keep your sense of humor."

Those comments were immediately slammed by the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee, which e-mailed its 3.4 million supporters declaring, "John McCain thinks smears and lies are funny."

"Despite pledging to run a respectful campaign, McCain is just standing by while Corsi and his publisher, former Dick Cheney aide Mary Matalin, poison this presidential race," read the e-mail from DNC Rapid Response Team.

Watch: Is Obama being swift-boated?

But McCain spokeswoman Brooke Buchanan said later Thursday the Arizona senator actually did not hear the question, and would not be commenting on the book.

The book, which is expected to debut No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list, repeats many long-discredited falsehoods about the Illinois senator, including the claim that he is Muslim.

Corsi, who has said he's on a “mission” to take down Obama, also co-wrote "Unfit for Command" - the 2004 book that spawned the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth attacks against then-Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry.

McCain didn't hear the question? So why did he answer?

That old man McCain can't even lie effectively.

Of course McBush thinks that smear tactics and lie are funny, unless he happens to be the target. He tries to laugh everything off, but he is deeply involved in a smear campaign of his own against Obama. He is using typical republican tactics to get his message of lies across to the public. But, let me tell you that if this book by Corsi was directed at McBush, he'd be singing a different song.

I haven't read the book and don't intend to, but I would agree that, by and large, the Obama campaign and supporters don't have a functioning sense of humor. Too bad, too. There's a lot to laugh at these days.

If the rest of the world thought we were stupid electing W to four more years, I can't wait to see how we are perceived if McCain is elected president!

  8. Obama whining

DNC and Obama are whining a lot these days.

STOP, this is not a fashion parade Mr Obama, compete diligently. fight it out like a Prez or keep crying and shutup.

If you have the facts, present them.
And send Kery packing, he will ruin your campaign, like he did to himself.

The democrats are so stupid! This has nothing to do with McCain's campaign. The Dems are a bunch of wimps. That's what happens when you have a weak candidate.

Apparantly McCrypt had the ABBA albums volume a bit to loud in the '70's and it has affected his hearing in his 70's.

McCain was in a meeting with Pickens. Reporters were far away. It was a photo op not a one on one interview. Cameras were clicking and there was comotion. McCain thought the question was about the attacks on Obama meaning the paris hilton ads. . McCain has many times said those ads were based on humor. This exchange is being taken totally out of context. Obama is many times asked on rope lines questions and doesn't hear the questions with all the commotion.

Of course he has no comment. Like Bush, McCain knows that you have to lie, lie, lie, over and over and over again so that the brain-dead geriatrics and racists will believe you hook, line and sinker. Bald faced lies are his only chance at winning the presidency.

Talk about no character, an empty suit and no moral center! McIpedia is a lobbyist-supported, GOP lackey!

Why doesn't someone have the balls to sue slime like this Corsi for
slander and defanation of character...what he is writing is known to be false, is harmful to reputation, and are lies with intended consequence.
Where are the people who will bring suit? and why aren't even honest Republicans (if you can find any) as outraged as normal people?
