Our government has been asleep at the switch.
The military services and other agencies who use large amounts of energy--have been focused on conservation and alternative plans for decades--despite the fact they have received little guidance from the executive branch since Al left as VP, and both the DEM and GOP controlled congresses have been absolutely incapable of creating compromise.

At least now--enough Americans are angry enough to make our elected leadership--all of them--aware that action must be taken from all branches of government.

Thanks T. Boone, and Al Gore--for holding their feet to the fire.

Forget off-shore drilling, go with alternatives (and not the disastrous ethanol route).

But first, tap the Bakken Formation. USGS survey: 3 - 4.3 BILLION barrels of recoverable oil. Check it out!

I just heard about some supposed health hazards caused by living too close to wind farms. Not necessarily proven but, having worked in the wireless site development field for years and attended many zoning hearings for wireless sites where the possible health issues were brought up, I can tell you that T Boones plan is going to be a difficult sell when these so called health issues become known to the general public.
So McCain should not totally buy into T Boone plan as it is going to be difficult to sell to the folks who will live near the wind farms.

"Billionaire" oil man T. Boone Pickens made his billions in the oil industry. Is he now planing on shuting down all his oil operations and start another venture? I think not.

There was just a stiff gust of wind outside my window. Someone please explain how Pickens, Al Gore, The Obama or anyone else is going to renew that energy.

Expended energy (used) is NOT renewable.

"Gotta keep your sense of humor" about getting smeared with crazy lies in a book pushed a top the best seller list with bulk buys from right wing groups? A book published by long-time GOP operative Mary Matalin, who defended it as "scholarly".

Why didn't McCain laugh it off when he was accused of having an affair with lobbyist Vicki Iseman? Why didn't he laugh it off when Wes Clark rightly challenged his credentials to lead? Why didn't he laugh off the South Carolina smears that attacked his wife and daughter and questioned his sanity because of his stay as a POW? McCain found that so odorous that he almost left the Republican party because of it.

McCain condemned the swift-boating book in 2004 when it was used against Kerry? What has changed? Is McCain willing to sell out his honor and morals for any political gain?

Russia is waging war in Georgia ("they're baaaaack!"), including bombing oil pipelines (all the oil comes from hostile places), the economy needs help, and we need new (and realistic) energy sources that we control and protect ourselves. McCain has been working all of these issues - as in this article.

Meahwhile, the vigil continues in Hawaii...

Personally, I like what T. Boone Pickens has to say on the energy issue, however I don't trust him because of some of his past politics. I don't see McBush adopting any such plan as it has not mention of kickbacks or funding for lobbyist. I would like to see Obama jump on the T. Boone Pickens plan…however after what he did to John Kerry it’s unlikely he can trust the guy. Obama will be the next US President so this meeting was a total waste of time…unless John got a check out of the old rich guy.

Hopefully, T. Boone locked McCain up in a room and made him watch his TV ads, which loudly proclaim that we won't drill our way out of the energy crisis. Drilling will shave about 4 cents off a gallon of gas, about four years from now (that's how long it takes to build a rig). So all you drilling dummies, shut up and read.

Drilling offshore is for idiots. It's already been proven to be financialy ineffective to everyone EXCEPT Big Oil. WAKE UP, AMERICA!!

Pickens will tell that to McCain in the meeting, and then McCain will ignore it and keep pandering to the rest of Big Oil because they're financing his campaign like the did Bush/Cheney.

When is it going to end? WAKE UP, AMERICA!!

McCain is the only one with a real energy plan.

Obama's plan continues the plan the democrats in Congress have put into place this past couple years that has given us a doubling in gas prices.

McCain advocates drilling responsibly while pursuing alternatives.

Obama's plan? NO drilling, NO anything.

What a sad excuse for a candidate the dems have come up with this time!!

LOL!

T. Boone should put a windmill in front of McCain's mouth, and then ask him about the surge. That'll power the entire eastern seaboard for a century

To get Pickens and people like him involved in developing McCains Energy Policy is an excellent move. I say again, Drill Here, Drill Now and make every effort to develop all alternatives. Let the markets decide what works and what does not.

Obama adopted weeks ago the plan that Pickens speaks about with wind power. McCain is now jumping on the band wagon. I was insulted by McCains ad showing wind power in the back ground, why didn't he show the nukes he is proposing. Talk about flip flop. Does he think that the American people are stupid?

Yeah, drill now so that we can see a drop of oil in 7-10 years. That will sure solve the countries energy and oil crisis. It's nearing the end of the Summer, so of course gas prices are going to go down, just as they go up around the start of Summer; Memorial Day. If you want a real energy plan, go to Obama's site and actually read something instead of believing gimmicks. Educate yourself, think for yourself.

T. Boone Pickens has a very good plan. He's a smart man. I'm on his mailing list and I keep up with what he's doing.

I say, drill to meet our immediate needs (we are now beholden to the Middle East for about 70% of our oil....they have us by the short hairs). In the meantime, develop and implement alternative energy sources for running our country, while we also create and perfect the technology to make vehicles that don't depend on petroleum.

We dug ourselves into this energy hole. Now we have to figure a way to get out of it.

A vote for McCain only reenforces the war in Iraq was right and the rest of Bush's failed policies. Think about it.

As T Boone Pickens says.... "we can't drill our way out of this crisis". Development of alternate energy is the only true way to energy independence. And, in response to McCain saying "you gotta keep your sense of humour" when asked about the book of lies from Jerome Corsi, I am outraged that he did not immediately repudiate that book. McCain, who I supported ardently in 2000, has lost my respect and my vote due to his attack lies and flip flops on energy, taxes and the war in Iraq. For shame.
