RNC reports $26 million in June, nearly matching McCain

McCain and the RNC are well-positioned financially.

McCain and the RNC are well-positioned financially.

(CNN) - The Republican National Committee reported Friday it raised $26 million in July, a fundraising haul that nearly matches John McCain's campaign during the same timeframe, and had approximately $75 million cash on hand.

The RNC and the McCain campaign combined began the month of August with $96 million cash on hand, a total that may keep pace with Barack Obama and the relatively cash-strapped Democratic National Committee.

Earlier Friday, the McCain campaign announced it had raised $27 million in July, the presumptive Republican nominee’s largest one-month fundraising total to date. The campaign also said it had $21 million cash on hand, all of which must be spent before the party's convention in early September because of McCain's choice to accept federal campaign dollars. The Republican Party is free to spend its money through Election Day.

The RNC also announced Friday it had surpassed one million individual donors this election cycle, while the McCain campaign said 600,000 individuals had donated to the Arizona senator. Earlier this week, the Obama campaign announced it had passed the two million donor mark.

Barack Obama's campaign and the Democratic National Committee have yet to announce their fundraising hauls for the month of July. For June, the Illinois senator's campaign reported raising $52 million with more than $72 million cash on hand. The DNC raised $22 million during that time period, all of which was available to spend.

Marek: Is McCain selling their shoes or their fish? MY soul however is now and always be intact and not for sale to anyone Republican or Democrat! I wish if you people were going to slur others, you would at least learn to spell so to at least APPEAR to be educated.

Why, under "Latest News," is there a selection entitled, "Ticker: Obama Plan Called 'Economic Disaster'" when it directs me to an article about how much money the RNC has taken in? What does that have to do with Obama's economic plan? Who is saying Obama's economic plan is a disaster?

Is it that the current White House economic policies are not already considered an economic disaster? Sensing more of the same from "McBush" is all I need to jump into action to support a different path, maybe one purposed by Obama.

Hey Mediator? How come every post I've made (which has always been politically correct and respectful) has never made it past your desk? Granted I'm more conservative, but I'm moderate? Have you read these guys? It's more of a liberal mosh pit than anything that would attract someone interested in finding facts and intelligent ideas. Have you ever thought about raising the bar on what comments you allow to go through? Just a thought.

PS. If you happen to know of a news source which provides balanced news coverage that informs rather than incites – please let me know, you have my email.

    The photo says a lot.
If you just read these blogs–you would be convinced that all conservatives are racist, ignorant, inbreeders, and violent.

Guess what–conservatives are educated, some are idealists, many are college educated, most have gainful employment (on a continuous basis), most don't actually own guns.

Conservatives live in reality and they pick their elected officials based on reality–some even vote outside of party lines quite a bit. But most won't vote for Obama.

The Obama supporters are getting nervous. Do I smell buyers remorse? I love how they complain when a little girl holds a McCain sign, but love when a little girl holds an Obama sign. Does that mean like in the primaries that the little girl with the McCain sign is a racist and the little girl with the Obama sign is educated?

  11. The Truth

Tomorrow night we will see which of the two presidential candidates is prepared to become Prersident of the United States. We will witness the benetits of a true relationship with God and a good education.

Senator Obama made the most of his educational opportunities; however, Senator McCain squandered his educational opportunities. Senator Obama graduated with high honors from the Harvard Law School; but, Senator McCain barely graduated from the Naval Academy of Annapolis. He managed to graduate # 894 out of 899., the bottom 1 percentile. What does that tell you?. He could not have learned much from his educational experiences.

Senator Obama has been married once and and is still with his first and only wife and children. Senator McCain deserted hs first wife and children for another woman and started another family. So, let us talk about family values! The truth will set you free!

Is McCain in bed with big business?
    McCain is big business!
In fact – America you are very close to having a monarchy not a democracy.

If McCain gets in you will have the “BEER QUEEN” in charge of your country.
There will be a whole new meaning to “THIS BUDS FOR YOU”

Just joking – adding a little humor to the campaign just like the repubs

BOTTOMS UP!!!! Hale to the BEER QUEEN!!!

They are going to need more than that to get them back on the map after November. We are MAD and tired of the leadership that this Republican party has delivered . President Reagan would be amazed as to what has happened to the Republican s . What took him years to build from 1966 to 1988 is gone....and believe me the "Maverick " is no Ron Reagan.

  17. Go McCain

Barack Obama and John McCain have run even once again in the Gallup Daily Tracking poll (August 12-14, 2690 RV, MoE +/- 2%) - tied at 44% each for the third time in the last two weeks. According to Gallup, Obama has averaged a 3-point lead since securing the nomination in early June, and just two days ago Obama's advantage was at 6 points.

That is a large drop in two days, and Gallup suggests the narrowing of the numbers could be due to Obama's absence on the campaign trail this week. Another possibility - which could be somewhat related to the first - is the conflict between Russia and Georgia. McCain's admitted strength is his foreign policy experience, and he has been speaking up about the conflict on the trail since it was first reported a week ago. Obama has issued statements on it as well, though he has made no public appearances this week.

This great man Obama does not have ANY lobbyists on his campaign and he takes NO money from big oil.

The above is factually uh, uh, uh inaccurate or a lie as some would say. The truth is all candidates have lobbyists and all candidates get money from big oil.

Do your homework before posting and voting.

Obama did say "typical white people", Obama did say that if his daughters got pregnant "he wouldn't want them punished in having a baby" , his wife did say "American is a downright mean country", she did say "for the first time in my adult life I am proud of this country and only ONCE did she add in Really proud" to name a few of their actual remarks besides HOPE and CHANGE.

McCain is no prize, but if Obama and his lack of experience are off limits, what do we base our vote on, his words and his actions and group of friends that include a terrorist who held is his intitial fundraiser, a convicted felon who gave him a couple of sweetheart deals and a preacher who hammered the country and aint exactly a friend to white folks.

Holding my nose for McCain and begging him to choose Condi or Powell.

The MEDIA says it is an Economic Disaster because they report ANY anti-Obama hack they can find. The media and energy/oil industries are going NUTS trying to figure out ways to stop the Dems and Obama this year because when they take over they will again impose RULES on the industries that are "SCREWING" Americans with lies and stealing their money. Just what a government is SUPPOSED to do, unlike what the "ALWAYS RIGHT" thinks.

PG&E on the W. Coast just ordered Solar Power farms LARGER that all of last years solar sales... Get the hint RIGHTIES, renewable energy is going to make it DESPITE the republicans filibustering the last 7 votes to renew the tax credits for them! McCain "TALKS" about renewable energy but hasn't made ONE comment on the republican's filibusters. Obama should step up and REPORT this fact to Americans as SOME rightists DO want solar and FREE energy.

With the media's reporting of "partial" facts you have to check the WHOLE story...Like how Obama's plane "minor incident" was actually a "MAYDAY: incident which was kept from the public by Bush-Co FAA and a non-investigating media.... What a coincidence... Betcha they'd have investigated more if it was McCains' plane.

I love how these college democrats talk about brainwashing. What do you think happened to you in college. Idiots. All of you. No child that age has any idea what is going on. Including all the kids who suppot Obama's...wait, what does he believe in now. It changes so often its hard to keep up. Seems to me Obama is falling into the role of McSame more than John. Anyone who thinks McCain and Bush are the same truley knows nothing about McCain. McCain was one of Bush's biggest opponents. Sure he supported the surge, but after all, it worked.

I would like to thank everyone for donating to Obama's campaign.

It let me know that you are doing your research on both candidates.

One thing McCain said that made me laugh so hard.

When I am president. I will make Congress go back to work.

Silly rabbit, by that time. Congress will be back to work way before January 09. He doesn't listen to himself when he say something. He just read whatever is in front of him. He has no clue. I am surprised Cnn did not catch that.

Remember everyone, when something isn't working, keep trying it exactly the same way. That's what McCain's slogan needs to be, because it's precisely what his economic and military plans are.
