RNC reports $26 million in June, nearly matching McCain

McCain and the RNC are well-positioned financially.

(CNN) - The Republican National Committee reported Friday it raised $26 million in July, a fundraising haul that nearly matches John McCain's campaign during the same timeframe, and had approximately $75 million cash on hand.

The RNC and the McCain campaign combined began the month of August with $96 million cash on hand, a total that may keep pace with Barack Obama and the relatively cash-strapped Democratic National Committee.

Earlier Friday, the McCain campaign announced it had raised $27 million in July, the presumptive Republican nominee’s largest one-month fundraising total to date. The campaign also said it had $21 million cash on hand, all of which must be spent before the party's convention in early September because of McCain's choice to accept federal campaign dollars. The Republican Party is free to spend its money through Election Day.

The RNC also announced Friday it had surpassed one million individual donors this election cycle, while the McCain campaign said 600,000 individuals had donated to the Arizona senator. Earlier this week, the Obama campaign announced it had passed the two million donor mark.

Barack Obama's campaign and the Democratic National Committee have yet to announce their fundraising hauls for the month of July. For June, the Illinois senator's campaign reported raising $52 million with more than $72 million cash on hand. The DNC raised $22 million during that time period, all of which was available to spend.

Martin August 15th, 2008 1:37 pm ET – Obama may have a lot of cash. But he has NO message! NONE! NOTHING! Only the stupid will vote for Obama!

Obama does have some things. He has Alaska by 5 points (a Red State) and Michigan by 7 points. He also is leading in PA and will take Ohio and Virgina. And he'll give McCain a run for his money in Florida. Now i would say those people in addition to the others who live in the States going to or leaning towards Obama come to an awful lot of stupid people. But hey, whose to say. Although I frankly think it is smart to support Obama I have to admit many supported GWB in the last two elections. Now that was stupid!

  3. Obama is an Economic Disaster

Obama is going to send the economy into the toilet due to taxing the only part of the economy that is actually doing well right now. Lets tax oil companies and see where that gets us. Not too smart if you ask me because those taxes will go straight to the consumers. If you don't like oil prices now just wait until this tax burden is placed on you at the pump. Obama (like most democrates) obviously never took Economics 100.

Even with that money we'll still see the GOP defeat in November. Those that are opposing Obama on this board obviously haven't read any of his plans and are just saying they're 'scared'.

Well the path the country has been taken in the last 8 years hasn't 'scared' you enough? Go ahead and vote for the same already voted for it twice before anyway.

Look at the haul by the RNC and you will know everything you need to know about why Obama didn't accept federal funds.

He said he would do so only if his Republican opponent would agree to independent expenditure limits, which McSame would not even discuss.

That's the aspect of the story that McSame's fans in the corporate media wont report. It doesn't fit with their "narrative".

It is nearly September and we have yet to have a debate between these 2 men. Obama can get all the fame and money he wants, it will not amount to a hill of beans once the debates show Obama does not have anything of substance.

    HRC crushed Obama in debates
McCain crushed his opp. in debates
Mcain will crush Obama in debates and the GE

McCain manages to get himself captured during Vietnam. If he's elected president get ready to raise the white flag as soon as a major conflict with another superpower starts.

McCain appears to be making his move. Funds are flowing in at increasing levels for McCain and the RNC. At the same time McCain continues to erase Obama's edge in the polls. The Gallup tracking poll that is included in CNNs poll of polls shows a tie between Obama and McCain for poll taken 8/12 to 8/14. The Obama ship is sinking fast.

Hey RNC, you're rich now. How do I sign up to get paid to recite McCain talking points word for word on blogs like this one? I can take the money I get for cutting and pasting a little nonsense and donate it to Obama.

    Fight the smears!

McCain has no character. This old man has been dispicable since he collaborated with the enemy in the Hanoi Hilton. Before he got shot down he only had 20 hours or combat time. Would you beleive it he received 22 medals when he was released. McCain Sr. had a lot to do with that. There were soldiers on the ground with 3000 combat hours that barely got one medal and never got captured. It only took a few days of slapping McShame around he asked to see a officer. He gave more than his name, rank and serial number. That is how he got the nickname (songbird). We he was freed he thought he was coming home to his lovely wife only to find out she was disfigured from a auto accident. He immediately started screwing around on poor Carol. That's when he met Cindy. He ask Carol for a divoce and offering to pay all her medical bills for life and buy a nice condo on the beach. McShame was divorced and married all in the same year. In 1991 Five senators were in the Lincoln Savings & Loan scandal. McCain and George Bush's brother were two of the senators. This fiasko cost the taxpayers well over 3 billon dollars. You remember the "Keating 5" don't you.? How about that for a fairy tale.

What a waste of money. To actually donate Monday to a party that is mostly responsible for the last disasterous 8 years in hopes that we can have 4 more just like it. Pity...

I feel for Mary and all the others that will lose their jobs soon but she is being naive to think that her little request to McCain one day produced a congressional hearing the next day. It's funny how Mary claims Obama is using this horrible situation as a political issue but doesn't see that McCain own actions for political gain.

Those jobs are long gone and I feel for the State of Ohio because it’s because of NAFTA those jobs will be lost soon. Mary, McCain supports NAFTA and after he left your town hall meeting he went to Mexico and touted how great NAFTA was for the US.

I wish the best for Mary and all the Ohioans out matter who is elected.

Martin: Only the stupid will vote for Obama. Then how come he won every primary in the category of those with a college education. He has a message, he has a plan, he has policies. You can decide that you don't agree with him but everyone that says he is nothing but an empty suit isn't paying attention. Why? Because they don't want to hear the truth.

$27 mil? That's all? Why don't the McCain supporters want to help him? What's up with that? The GOP is $10 in the hole for their convention, why won't you McCain supporters help with that? Can't put your money where your mouth is?? Very telling.
