(CNN) – The Democratic National Committee raised $27.7 million in the month of July, according to an e-mail Saturday from Karen Finney, the DNC’s Director of Communications.

“The strong fundraising numbers are a testament to Barack Obama's message of change and hope and his vision for America's future,” Finney wrote in the message.

The July number includes donations to the DNC proper; the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising endeavor between the DNC and the Obama campaign; and the Democratic White House Victory Fund, a joint fundraising endeavor between the DNC, the Obama campaign, and the presidential campaign of Sen. Hillary Clinton.

The Republican National Committee announced Friday that it raised $26 million in July.

nadeem   August 16th, 2008 2:43 pm ET

This is the first time i've seen the DNC out raise the RNC.

Obama always kicks McCain's butt despite all the lobbyist money going to McCain.

Bit with the DNC now outraising the RNS, the Senate and house dems are also outraising the GOP.

Looks like it is time to turn the page.

former democrat   August 16th, 2008 2:32 pm ET

They did it all without a penny from me. Bunch of fools !!!

All that money just to be in a dead heat with McCain in the polls. Any other Democrat right now should be way ahead of McCain.

Obama/Clinton   August 16th, 2008 1:25 pm ET

Where is all this money coming from? At last check, more and more families cannot afford gas for their cars which are partked and acting as homes because they've been foreclosed upon.

Sad, our American Political system cares more about a 60 second spot that helping pay for health insurance or keeping families in their homes.

Lou R   August 16th, 2008 1:25 pm ET

Funny thing, the reported donation amounts seem to be at odds with the daily poll tallies. During July the McCain campaign collects less than half of the Obama's campaign and the polls are statistical ties? Both the Rasmussen and Gallup poll voter category mixes and numbers have become suspect or those being polled are not being forthright in expressing their views.

Bill   August 16th, 2008 1:21 pm ET

Brilliant, BO we have your back

Ken, LA California   August 16th, 2008 1:20 pm ET

To raise 28 million with no Lobbyst money is success, we are taking back our country from lobbyist.

mike   August 16th, 2008 1:16 pm ET

Yes, yes, yes… thanks Mcsame for all those stupid ads you ran. w/o them, the Obama camp would have been in the 30s, and now we are able to be consistent in microtargeting areas of concern. Hence, running ads in Indiana and Ohio and making McSame react to them and spend his money…

More microtargeting please, big key to wining in the fall…

Denise   August 16th, 2008 1:14 pm ET

Great.

Lets waste EVEN more money on electing worthless politicians.

That is the proof of our democracy.

Hypocrits for Obama   August 16th, 2008 1:08 pm ET

Obama SAYS : hope, unity and change…

But then he says HRC is an old style washington insider- but she has no experience and is a war monger.

AND… with his silent blessing and encouragement, His supporters and campaign say: monster, racist inbred morons, same old politician, Bro before Ho and iron my shirt.

So the message is mixed and garbled and divisive and hypocritical.

RJ, CA   August 16th, 2008 1:07 pm ET

Fleeced again, Dems!

tigerakabj   August 16th, 2008 1:02 pm ET

There is Obama nation in action!!!! I'm $500 dollars shy from maxing out with Obama's campaign; however, I gave $200 to the DNC last month.

Bulldog   August 16th, 2008 12:57 pm ET

So much for the RNC fund raising lead. People are sick of the GOP and their stagnant no solutions policies. The GOP has only hurt the United States over the last decade led by John McCain.

unity by division, hope by hatred   August 16th, 2008 12:56 pm ET

You still can't buy an election. Even if you are selling it, Americans aren't buying it.
After blowing off the Democratic base for moveon.org's money, I think the question should be presented to Howie and Nancy……………..Are you happy now?

Gallup Daily: McCain, Obama Tied at 44%
Obama’s support down slightly
August 15, 2008

Someone has to save dems from their pathetic leadership, and now that they have handed the reins over to the BO campaign, it is all slip sliding away. Pretty sad commentary considering this was supposed to be a landslide win for dems in November. Why do the dems make it so easy for Republicans? Has anyone considered it is turning out exactly how they hoped it would?
