Schneider: McCain makes a surprising reference

(CNN) - Interesting that McCain brought up the issue of his own personal failings, in light of the recent John Edwards scandal. He never quite acknowledges it, but he is the one who mentioned it.

Wish that nut would quite calling me his friend. I'm not. He's an idiot.

I'm for Obama, but I don't McCain has been dodging his failings in his marriage. He hasn't admitted cheating with Cindy before the divorce, but he has said he sucked as a husband and was selfish. Good for him. Just because I'm Obama, doesn't mean McCain is evil – just WRONG.

So CNN, where's the story? What is his failings: Did he cheat on his first wife to get Cindy McCain? While he's at it why don't he mention the Keating five banking scandal that he was a part of? If this was Obama, CNN will be killing this story over and over and over and OVER again to try to to crucify the man.

Gosh...McCain only talks about war. This is disturbing. Is that the only thing he knows? Bill Schneider and Candy Crowley please help me get the answer to this question. Thanks.

Cause he knows it's on everybody's minds, so he might as well break the ice first?

CNN never amazes me how quick they are to create a negative headline for anything leaning right. It there was a Truth detector for new stories, CNN would fail miserably. Fair and balanced are real concepts, not
    conservative values.

YEAH HE SAID IT IN THE CONTEXT AS IF HE ONLY DIVORCED HIS WIFE, NOT GIVING ANY NOTION THAT HE CHEATED ON HIS WIFE BEFORE HE LEFT HER, NOT THAT HE COULD NOT ACCEPT THAT THE WOMEN WHO WAITED FOR HIM TO RETURN FROM VIETNAM AND BORE HIM THREE CHILDREN WAS NO LONGER PHYSICALLY BEAUTIFUL DUE TO HER ACCIDENT, NOR DID SHE HOLD THE CONNECTIONS AND MONEY TO BUY HIM A POSITION. EVERY QUESTIONS HE HAS TO ANSWER IT IN THE POSITON OF THE VIETNAM WAR...WHAT IS YOUR PERSONAL FAITH AND HOW WILL THAT GUIDE YOUR DECISIONS HERE AT HOME AND INTERNATIONALLY.

It only took the first ten minutes of the interview – McCain has my vote.

His response to his own personal failings was honest, direct and sincere. Period.

i feel that Pastor Warren should have pressed him further on this issue like he pressed obama on abortion...

Did he feel it to be a moral failing when he committed adultery with present wife Cindy, and then divorced crippled first wife Carol who stood by him for five and a half years while he was a prisoner of war? I wish Rick Warren had asked him to expand more on this moral failing of his. How can the religious right accept a man who has committed these awful moral failings?

Senator McCain "seemed" to dump his wife of many
years for a hot little blond number half his age.
Yes as we grow we learn and past transgressions
should be forgiven but at least be fair about that.
Forgive Obama his pastor, and forgive McCain
    ditching his wife.

    Peace

If marital fidelity is going to be a campaign issue it would be more pertinent to ask McCain if he's been faithful to Cindy, especially since there's some online testimony already indicating he refuses to answer that question.

James Dobson brought up the adultery months ago. Dobson seems to forget about asking and receiving forgiveness from God.

In my view, John McCain never directly answered most of the questions. I do not think McCain's personal stories for most of the questions were adequate. I prefer a president who is looking forward rather than one living in his own history.

It's really too bad that the media hasn't talked about this being more than a failure. It was abandonment, pure and simple, of a disabled woman for a younger RICH woman (after MANY other dalliances) who John McCain obviously had no problem defining although he artfully (?) dodged the question about wealth during the forum. Hmm .. I wonder why? What a low human being he is.

McCain mentioned his failed first marriage but the whole truth needs to be exposed just like Edwards.

He never told the entire truth about his first marriage. He did just as he has done about his life, pretend he is like everyone else and not tell the entire truth. He rambled and never told how he left his first wife for the one he is married to now. How he left the first for the second. He never gave the truth about what occurred.

John McCain is not an honorable man.

What he didn't say is the condition he left his wife in when he was having an affir with Cindy. Then to have his mother sue her is unbelievable!!!!!!

I would have liked to hear McCain expound upon his failed marriage. The way he answered the question made it seem like his marriage simply didn't work out. Indeed, it didn't. However, he was a major reason it didn't work out. Having an affair with Cindy and asking his wife for a divorce while she was recuperating in the hospital from a major accident, is something I think the American people need to know about McCain. We know that Sen. Obama experimented during his teens with drugs & alcohol so I'd like to know more about McCain, what he learned from the experience and how it impacted his life. I was very disappointed that I didn't hear more.

John McCain just said enough to get the heat off his back from the blogs about his affair with Cindy while still married to Carol. He wants people to think he has been unfront and forthright when actually he has not been. He committed adultry which is a sin – a 10 commandment sin.

Perfect forum for McCain to excuse his behavior! He knows people are talking about his indiscretion with another woman and true to his Bush doctrine, he launched a preemptive strike!! The guy is such a hack! People are going to fall for his rah rah rah BS ! AGAIN! This is such foolishness, no wonder voters put Bush back in a second time! Remember the old saying "you can fool some of the people............."
