(CNN) – It was a tough retort from Gov. Tim Kaine, a Democrat from Virginia.
Kaine responded Sunday to comments made by Republican strategist Karl Rove earlier this month criticizing Kaine's potential vice presidential credentials.
On CBS' "Face the Nation," Rove jabbed at the governor, saying "again no disrespect to Gov. Kaine. He's been a governor for three years. He's been able but undistinguished. I don't think people could really name a big, important thing that he's done."
The Democratic governor - who is rumored to be on Barack Obama's potential VP list - pointed out that his state was voted best for business three years in a row by Forbes.com and said "maybe Karl Roves and the Republicans don't care about business climate, that would explain why we're in the situation that we're in".
"Governing Magazine was also named Virginia as the top governed state in America," Kaine told reporters, "maybe to Karl Rove that isn't an achievement that would explain a federal government that couldn't respond to a hurricane a Katrina and couldn't figure out how to start and manage a war."
Kaine spoke to reporters in Washington after shooting a televised interview Sunday morning.
By the way, in the 2008 Governing Magazine ranking, Virginia shares its top A- rating with two other states: Washington and Utah.

Yet at no point does he actually offer one "big thing" that he has done as Governor . How much does he influence the business viability of the state? I honestly think Kaine would be a weak choice for Obama. Virginia is probably up for grabs this election with or without him on the ticket.
If you took the federal workers for the goverment and goverment contracts away from virginia they would be in a hurt. Kaine inherited the good situation that Virginia is in now from his predessors and all the politicians that hang out in Virginia due to its proximity of D.C. Yes Look america we need to inexperienced liberals to run America
I like this guy. I think he would be a good VP for Obama regadless of only being a Governer for 3 years. We need something new and the republicans keep trying to tie in the same old politics that got us in the situation this nation is already in. Think about it...How much experience did Bush have???Then again Let look at MCcain he was right there in the Senate look how much experience he had and things still didn't go in the right direction.
Gov. Tim Kaine shoots back against criticism from Karl Rove. That's it hit that Old Scumbag Karl Rove Low and Hard !!!! Rove your puppy is following You thanks!......Here Boy come on Sean!!!
Karl Rove???? That guy has no place saying anything about anybody. Until he respects the legislative branch of this government, he has no right speaking on any subject.
Besides, what makes him distinguised when he feels he's above the rule of law. Laws that any American citizen would feel compelled to obey. Testify before a Senate committe that servved him with a subpoena, then maybe I'll give credence to what comes out of his mouth. Until he distinguises himself in that manner then we would be better served if he keeps his mouth shut.
As I think on it maybe Rove is distinguised alright, distinguised as a mudslinger. A distinguishment he should try to rid himself of. Agreed????
Karl Rove is scum of the lowest order. You have to hold your nose just to meet him on the street going in the opposite direction and hope the wind is blowing in side ways to you.
He is right, this intellectual challenged administration could not and still cannot think how to get out of paper bag with the top open.
I do not see how in the world there ever could be another administration as inept as this one.
They have no knowledge of history, economics and apparently do not have the ability to ask some one who is knowledgeable about them.
This administration thinks their opinion is better than science
I saw this segment he was GREAT!!! I hope he is the V.P.! He is exactly what Obama needs to emphasize and put an exclamation point on his candidacy! Naturally the Rove's of the world will be haters for this is all they know! The fact that he is cricizing Kaine shows what a great candidate he must be and how scared he must be making our dear GOP friends.
They can't handle the truth. Good job Governor Kaine!
I can't believe that LARRY CRAIG look alike[ KARL ROVE] is still trying to influence any part of government. He contributed to every decietful and crooked aspect of the Bush administration knowing that Bush was to confused with logic to keep up with this bag of garbage that Rove spewed out. Hopefully he will still be brought to justice or at least caught in illict activities while at the minneapolis airport visiting one of his kind.He needs to be in a jail in an opencell and shower.
did you know that mccain is using the same people hired by bush to attack him in 2000 against obama? mccain said he doesn't want to tax the rich i.e. his family. with 10 homes and an expensive taste in footwear, for instance, do you think he can really feel your pain? i wish someone could just whisper in mccain's ear that the white house is not a retirement home.
There would be two do nothings on the ticket.
way to go Tim!!
Good job. Gov Kaine. Peoplelike Karl Rove should not mess up with GOv. Kaine. Who is Karl Rove to determine who is qualified or not for VP? What makes him qualified to judge good administrators? Karl never run an administrative office . Advising George Bush does not make anybody an expert. Karl Rove is arrogant to the limit.
Karl Rove earlier this month criticizing Kaine's potential vice presidential credentials. We know A lots about your Dirty Politics
Karl Rove WORST Person!!!!
You tell 'em Kaine!!!! True facts just can't be disputed.
Obama '08
Go get him Governor Kaine!!! Karl Rove has made a mockery of politics for too long. He used GW Bush as a tool to degrade the office of the President of the United States and to destroy the reputation of the USA in the world arena. He needs to tarred and feathered, and then confined behind bars for life with Bush, Cheney, and a few others.
Rove should be in jail. Who cares what that treasonist thinks.
I watched him on meet the press Sunday morning. He sure did give it to Karl Rove who actually asked for it. Gov. Kaine didn't have to critcize Karl Rove he just pointed to how out of touch Karl Rove and the Republicans are. They talk so much about experience as if his candidate had any before the neocons pushed him to the national arena to carry out their pre arranged agenda. If any one has Link TV they once ran a documentary on how the neocons planned to carry out their agenda through George Bush. And they succeeded in putting their agenda through George Bush.
You go, governor!
Right on point Mr. Kaine. Everyone is quick to forget Hurricane Katrina. We can send billions of dollars overseas for a war, send aide to Georgia but mismanage aid going to our own fellow country men. People also tend to forget Laura Bush's insensitive statement that some of the Katrina victims were now "better off". This current administration has done such a poor job it's hard to believe that Americans are willing to risk any more of this by electing McCain.
And, what was the distinguishing characteristics of Bush? Driving businesses to the brink of bankruptcy, using insider information to sell stocks and make a fortune.
Yep, Karl, Bush sure did what he does best, make a fortune while screwing everyone else.
Kaine is very sensitive and defensive but this is characteristic of the losing team!
Mccain 08! He gets it!
Karl Rove was the man behind the election (???) of GWB, the worst president of the USA history. That's enough!
That a way Gov. Kaine.....tell Rove the way it is, he lost his credibility as far as I'm concerned...
Republicans are learning the hard way that if you keep kicking a dog one day it will bite you. CHOMP!!!!!
