I hope it's part of a consistent and continued effort to let people know who John McCain is. He is in the pocket of the big guys at Big Oil. Let's not confuse that with Obama getting contributions from the rank and file who work there.

And I got to say it....JohnBoy, please get your facts straight or go lock yourself in your house until November. McCain is not a Muslim and neither is Obama. Obama is an American running for President, he was born in Hawaii. McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone. Using your logic, who is more American?

Where is the new high minded campaign style that Obama promised? Gone the same way as his promise to use public money. Gone the same way as his promise to bring all the troops home in eighteen months. Gone the same way as his promise to......You fill in the blank..........

Private donations from employees of oil companies is very different than accepting PAC money, corporate donations, etc. Private individuals cannot go back to Obama later and ask for favors. The media needs to tell this like it is. Everyone has an opinion and has a right to support a candidate. If they happen to work for Exxon or an oil company, so what? The important thing is that the candidate is not beholden to any special interest.

Obviously, the low level employees are donating to Obama, and the upper management and CEO's are donating to McCain. That's why $1.3 million donated to McCain compared with roughly $400,000 to Obama.

More people at Exxon are sending money to Obama... looks like the employees at Exxon want some kind of change in our government. Makes you wonder why??? Maybe the Exxon employees realize how much their company is raping the American public and want a President that will make changes. WAKE UP, AMERICA!!

I'm a Democrat and supporter of Barack Obama...but ignorance is ignorance. While the oil companies are reaping record profits they are also one of the few corporations that can also put huge sums into R&D for alternative energy. British Petroleum and Chevron have been moving in this direction - Exxon still lags. I didn't like the McCain campaign's tire gauges and similarly don't like these Democrat based stress toys. This campaign season is a joke....with Republicans leading the way but now it seems Democrats are following the lead.

McCain makes a big splash with his visit to an oil rig today...and his continuing ridicule of Obama's comprehensive energy policy. Odd, 'tho...that McCain's trip was delayed supposedly because "...The presumptive Republican presidential nominee's earlier trip to a rig was canceled because of weather."...when in reality the rig was dealing with an oil spill. Not exactly a confidence builder.

Obama has been tied to magical mystery fuel, or MMF. First conceived of at Woodstock, MMF evokes all of the feel-good energy of the 1960's! MMF is 100% organic, nontoxic and can be used in any type of engine. MMF's only emissions include warm UV-free rainbows, sugar cubes and pure water!

"Let there be no mistake, the oil and gas industry knows that Exxon-McCain is the ticket to four more years of record profits and skyrocketing energy costs," said DNC spokesman Damien LaVera. "Our political opponents can try to muddy the waters if they want, but Big Oil Continue Steered Far More Money to the Exxon-McCain 08 campaign Then Obama for a reason. John McCain's promise of more of the same reckless giveaways and tax breaks for Big Oil and obstruction of alternatives to oil is exactly what Big Oil is looking for, which is why Exxon-McCain is their ticket this November."

Thank you Sarah!!!
Obama has raised almost 3 times as much as McCain with almost 4 times as many donors. It's just like the lobbyist faux argument. McCain takes money from actually registered lobbyist and to try to tie up Obama the media tries to say that Obama takes money from lawyers who work for firms that lobby. Thats's silly. 25% of my friends are lawyers and I know a ton of them whoo have donated to Obama. They are in no way lobbyists. I believe that there is a conspiricy by the media to kee theis race close for ratings.

Don't forget: Oil drilling is not about bringing down the price of oil. It costs so much to sink a deep-water well, that drilling the OCS is only economic if oil sells for north of $100/bbl. So what, then, is it about? Ensuring the profits of big oil companies Maybe? This is what McCain has signed onto, so the sticker is appropriate. And don't believe McCain when he touts alternative energy, he is only paying it lip service.

Hmm? Looks like the DNC made a typo error. Exxon is really Obama's big oil company of choice. Should say ExxonObama08.

Of course McCain gets all the other big oil companies. Typical greedy Republican. Of course McCain knows that drilling off shore is good for Big oil, and for reducing US dependency on foreing oil, and for keeping more dollars in the US by bying more of our oil from US oil companies, and that drilling offshore will create more American jobs to man the oil rigs, and create more tax revenue for our government. McCain just wants it all doesn't he.

It is not the amount of money that is given, it is the actions, nor non-actions that the politician takes as a result of the donation. McCain did not vote at least 8 times in favor of tax breaks for alternative energies. Obama missed only 1 vote. Republicans have killed it so far. Guess who is in the pocket of big oil.

I did notice that McCain almost word for word copied Obama on saying we need a comprehensive enery plan. That not just drilling was going to get it done. Though he did say drilling (Drill, Drill, Drill),
should be the first option.
Anyone else notice how prices are dropping and rising based on speculations, not drilling. So much for that theory!!

Democrats drill already. Please stop sending out 2 Billion dollars a day for oil. Pelosi please go back to Washington. Stop making rediculous arguments and then expect us to believe nonsense. Stop saying Oil companies are the way to green energy, it would be a conflict of interest to them. The whole idea started with a marketing ploy with Shell in Holland, but has it really gone anywhere. Financing and project research should be taking place at the goverment level so we can please progress on this critical issue now.

Considering Obama has raised easily over twice as much as McCain has in general, $339M to $145M, a 20% advantage at Exxon is much lower than one would expect. The fact that McCain has raised over 3 times as much from the oil industry is astounding.

A dollar donated to McCain is 8 times more likely to have come from the oil industry as a dollar donated to Obama.

Much of that advantage is due to the fact that McCain received a huge influx of cash right about the time he started pushing drilling in coastal areas and ANWR - how convenient! He has lobbyists from every major oil company on his campaign staff, several in key positions.

One of his top foreign policy advisors, Randy Scheunemann, was a registered lobbyist for the foreign government of Georgia, having taken hundreds of thousands of dollars from them. McCain's position in the recent conflict was decisively pro-Georgian. Scheunemann's firm is still lobbying the U.S. Government on behalf of Georgia.

McCain, the best government money can buy.

The donations were private and personnal choices............EXXON's political position is NOT tied into their employees preferences. This is silly CNN. Who has had the most influence from lobbyists from oil companies??? Say, over the last 30 yrs. ???

The Republicans and Senator McCain have had seven and a half years to do something about energy in this country. Instead, theyve been content to increase our dependence on oil and spend our national blood and treasure on wars in oil-rich regions.

It's time for a change! It's time for President Obama!
