Kaine to campaign with Obama on Thursday in Virginia

Kaine is one of Obama's most ardent backers.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – With vice presidential speculation reaching fever pitch, Barack Obama's campaign said Tuesday that the Democrat will campaign in central Virginia later this week alongside V.P. contender Gov. Tim Kaine.

Kaine and Obama will host an invitation-only town hall meeting on Thursday in Chesterfield County, a suburb of Richmond. Kaine's sturdy performance in the traditionally conservative Richmond suburbs helped vault him to the governorship in 2005.

Kaine, the former mayor of Richmond, is widely regarded as one of the three top candidates for a slot on the Democratic ticket, along with Delaware Senator Joseph Biden and Indiana Senator Evan Bayh.

Obama has scheduled a campaign event for Saturday at the Old State Capitol in Springfield, Illinois, where he kicked off his presidential bid - but the campaign would neither confirm or deny whether the candidate will appear with his running mate.

Obama will also stump in the commonwealth on Wednesday with Virginia’s other two Democratic stars, Senator Jim Webb and former Governor and current Senate candidate Mark Warner, who is scheduled to keynote the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

VP candidate: the only sure win is the GAL who has been taking the punches since the early 1990s.

The biggest mistake of the DNC this primary is their failure to recognize how deeply respected and loved the Clintons are, by those who have been observing for quite some time.

The legacy will haunt them come November, if Hillary is not running beside him, because she has proven over the years to many of us that She is ALL that!

Tim Kaine would be an excellent choice for Obama! Their policies are so much alike. Together they can expand government social programs and spending until our country is *cough* "great"!

Lisa, You wouldn't receive a text from Senator Obama about his VP pick, ONLY HIS SUPPORTERS will receive the text message ahead of the public. On EVERY SINGLE BLOG about Senator Obama (AND EVEN THE ONES ABOUT McSURGE), all you do is tear Senator Obama down and post your negative, attack comments about him. Surely you're not now trying to say you're one of his supporters?!!!

Biden just flip flopped on this comment on Countdown.
The though of the VP being someone other than Biden
makes me physically sick. Bayh and Kaine are great but
Obama needs Joseph Biden JR. He even looks the part
with Obama. They remind me of the characters played by
Matthew McConaughey and Donald Sutherland in the
John Grisham movie "A Time To Kill," They would be
unstoppable this fall. Barack, I have been waiting for
this moment for a year. Please do not disappoint me
and the milions of American who adore you and Senator
    Biden!

In America, we are really good at electing "dumbos" to the Presidency. Just count the following:

    1. George Bush
    2. Bush Senior
    3. Regan

Now, we are ready to elect another senile guy, rather than a presidential scholar, to the presidency!!!

HATE TO SAY THIS.... BUT I BELIEVE OBAMA IS GOING TO HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO PICK HILLIARY AS HIS VP. The only bright side to this is that they will win the election BIG TIME !!

    Go Kaine and Obama...

That latest poll of polls is drivel.....

Look at how the margins have changed in the last two months:

    Obama's lead was 5, then 2, then 3, then 1, then2, then 4,5,4,5,6,8,7,5,6,8,4,6,3,5,5,3,5,5,6, and now back to 3....

    What's it prove?
We are all watching the Olympics and enjoying the summertime of course:):)

that obama man sure does a lot of stumping on somebody else's coat-tails. one thing we can't accuse him of, is standing up for himself by himself.

Kaine just looks scary to me and what's more his resume is even thinner than Obama's. Not the ticket I would want to run this country. And as for Biden (he's about as arrogant as Obama), and Bayh seems like a good guy, but again light on experience (sorry but I think you've got to have experience to make good judgments).

    Obama/Clinton or NOObama . . . .

Obama has to pick Kaine. He is the newly elected Governor of Virginia. Of all of the names mentioned he is the only one with less experience than Obama.

It's Kaine or some school board member from Ohio.

Governor Kaine needs to take better care of Virginia, before suggesting he is VP worthy.

We're on the cusp of a hugh fiscal shortfall, which the governor's economists are keeping quiet until AFTER the election, hoping to help turn the state blue. Virginians, wake up.

Come home, Governor Kaine. Do the job you were elected too!

    Scott L,

No. If an illegal immigrant got a kidney instead of me I'd still have my soul intact and those of us with souls understand a dying human being is a dying human being. I would not care if that person was an American citizen, an American immigrant, an illegal immigrant, or some John Doe who washed up on shore. A human being is a human being and organ donor recipients are chosen based on need and their standing on the donor list. It's uncaring people like you that suck the humanity out American society. Stop your hate mongering and go help people who don't have the resources to help themselves. It would open your eyes.

"Kaine and Obama will host an invitation-only town hall meeting"

    ----------------------------------

Guess they don't want to answer any hard questions just pre-screened ones. Guess after he fumble the other night you would expect this. Obama is a joke, he has no principles, he'll say anything to get people to vote for him. Maybe that's why more people are seeing through him now. He came down to Houston, TX to hang out with the wealthy Dems to raise money but wouldn't show his face anywhere else, wonder why?
