Obama's event Saturday is at Springfield’s Old State Capitol, where he launched his presidential campaign.

(CNN) – Barack Obama's campaign confirms that the Illinois senator will hold an event in his home state Saturday, kicking off the "roll into the convention" - but would not confirm or deny reports that he might be joined on stage by a running mate.

The event will be held in the Old State Capitol in Springfield - where Obama first launched his presidential bid a year and a half ago.

Wouldn't it be ironic if more folks show up than they did in Berlin? Don't expect it to happen though. More people live in New York City, NYC, than the entire state of Illinois. And that does include Chicago.

He needs all the extra hoola he can generate. I can't believe how weak

he came across on the debates. And this guy is a lawyer and taught ?

I hope DNC officials give him a crash course on being a more effective

debater. If the recent debate is any indication, he's going to lose the

elections when the country sees how sheepish, not in control, coward

like, and hard question avoidance tendencies he portrays.

PUMA is a joke. On Saturday, they were trying to raise $4000 and someone posted on their blog that if everyone gave $5, they would make it. Everyone? That means there are 800 PUMAs. No wonder they can't pay down her debt.

Yolanda, it's not going to be Hillary. So I guess we know what you'll be doing come November. Trying your best to ruin this country by giving us four more years of a Republican administration. Shame on you!

To all Hillary Supporters: Please keep in mind..that McCain was VERY clear about his intentions to overturn Roe v Wade. It would be a serious mistake to vote for him if you REALLY believe in Hillary Clinton. In addition, if Barack Obama loses this election…THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL HILLARY WILL WIN IN 2012. She will be held SQUARELY responsible for his loss and your "18 million votes" will mean absolutely squat in getting her elected. Please, PLEASE keep that in mind

Anyone switching from Hillary to McCain was never a true democrat to begin with. If you have things your way, Roe vs. Wade will be overturned and we'll see the largest power grab in history- even larger than what we've experienced under the current administration. By all means, vote your conscience- you'll only have yourself to blame if that conscience gets you much more than you bargained for.

Why is everything Obama does "major"? Is he trying to make himself seem larger than he is or are you guys at CNN just trying to pump up his candidacy as much as you possibly can? Either way, it won't work. He will have a "major" defeat in November.

I really resent that Obama puts on this 'preacher attitude' thing and throws out ambiguous spin and goads on the people to back him up with religious ferver. The empty suit people speak of is actually a manipulator and clever talker. His biggest downfall is that he is a Ted Kennedy in young skin.

They threaten is life, question his patriotism, call him the anti-christ and he just continues a long. I fully support him but really do feel sorry for him. ...Oh I really Thank and appreciate the educated, intelligent and truly patriotic americans supporting Barack. I only hope there are enough of us to get him elected. I really have doubts if we still require a High School education here in America. Most people that extend their education, realize Barack Obama is a "thinker" and therefore most of his supporters can relate. Even if you haven't received a formal education and support Barack, you deserve to be commended for realizing his qualities and simply looking past the foolishness.

Obama '08. To all you Hillary supporters: get over it. She brings nothing to the ticket but Bill and which one of you would want to have two vice presidents undermining you for the next four years. Biden is the best choice – smart, seasoned, foreign policy expert, takes no bull, and will help get things done. Hillary has done nothing but whine and according to the Atlantic article she couldn't even run her campaign or finances effectively – who owes money and who has plenty to spare – so why would anyone want her as part of the administration. She made poor choices and she has to live by her choices just like the rest of the world. GO OBAMA!!!!!!!!

Respect + Experience = Russians pull back (visions of the only reason the Iranians gave up the Hostages is when they heard Ronnie Ray-Gun had been elected) from Georgia, allowing the Isaraeli's,again, as they did in 1986, to blow p the Iranian Nuclear Reactors, being partners with Europe......ending another mistake of a war and getting Washington D.C. spending under control, preventing Boeing from hijacking another procurement -

With conservatives her negatives are even worse and would bring out every single conservative to vote in the Fall against her. Obama would immediately fall behind Mccain in the National Polls if he were to pick Hillary. The close races in Ohio and other States would be lost because those independents and the growing number of outraged republicans would be so great Obama would immediately fall behind in these key States.

On the other hand Obama can afford to lose a few die-hard blind followers of Hillary as you and still win the election. So why would anyone in their right mind pick Hillary.

If Obama chooses anyone other than Hillary Clinton, he will lose in November against McCain. Biden will not be any help to change my vote.

This will make it far more difficult for the McCain camp to leverage your pick .....

"Yes, give rousing speeches — that's all you are competent for."

Seriously, outside of rousing speeches and selecting a competent cabinet, that's all a president has to be. Nobody expects a president to do everything, just like nobody expects a CEO to be his own secretary. The job of the president is to be the figurehead leading the nation. That's why looks are considered so important in the campaigns.

He'll probably have more people there than McCain at his "BIG" Ohio event.

And to the people who have already posted that Hillary is his only choice for VP... answer me one question....

Tell me how Hillary would be more qualified for the position than someone like Biden, or Hagel. This isn't a popularity contest.. this is about who's more qualified to do the job.. so I don't want answers like 18 million votes, or we need a woman.. or any stupid answers that mean nothing when it comes to actually doing the job. Tell me... What qualifies Hillary above these guys who have served much longer, have had MUCH more experience, and so far have NOT tried to stab Obama in the back countless times while begging him to pay off her debt?

I know experience isn't everything.. and Obviously these guys have more experience than Obama.. but Obama is the nominee already and there's nothing you can do about it... so I don't want to hear anything about Hillary having more experience than Obama at this point.

McBush will drive for war, let the oil barons have their way and we'll have a continued infrastructure falling apart, more Katrina's, more unwanted pregnancies, women lose the right to choose and poverty will grow.

Obama is our hope because he's a HUMAN unlike these other Washington panderers. Obama will set a new tone and he's urged all of us to keep him on track.
