(CNN) – Barack Obama's campaign confirms that the Illinois senator will hold an event in his home state Saturday, kicking off the "roll into the convention" - but would not confirm or deny reports that he might be joined on stage by a running mate.

The event will be held in the Old State Capitol in Springfield - where Obama first launched his presidential bid a year and a half ago.

It boggles my mind how folks can think "No Hillary, No Obama". It just makes no sense. Why were you for Hillary in the first place? Which candidate remaining is closest to that view? How can it possibly be McCain?

To all Hillary Supporters: Please keep in mind..that McCain was VERY clear about his intentions to overturn Roe v Wade. It would be a serious mistake to vote for him if you REALLY believe in Hillary Clinton. In addition, if Barack Obama loses this election…THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL HILLARY WILL WIN IN 2012. She will be held SQUARELY responsible for his loss and your "18 million votes" will mean absolutely squat in getting her elected. Please, PLEASE keep that in mind

These people who say "If Obama doesn't pick Hillary, I'm voting for McCain" are insane. Hillary supporters like that: Obama is far, FAR CLOSER TO HILLARY'S IDEALS than McCain is. A vote for McCain would be like slapping Hillary in the face-THINK ABOUT IT!!! SHE wants Obama, NOT McCain!

And you jokers who are going to vote for McCain because Clinton isn't on the ticket.........you aren't really democrats anyway.

Everyday around the world innocent people are dying, women are being raped and children are orphaned as a result of political unrest, violent aggression and war.

While this all happens, what are Hillary Supporters doing? Jumping up and down in the Starbucks screaming "PUMA PUMA PUMA'!

    Yolanda, comme tu es stupide.

Anyone switching from Hillary to McCain was never a true democrat to begin with. If you have things your way, Roe vs. Wade will be overturned and we'll see the largest power grab in history- even larger than what we've experienced under the current administration. By all means, vote your conscience- you'll only have yourself to blame if that conscience gets you much more than you bargained for.

I feel as though America has been on crack cocaine for the last 8 years. But now she's out of rehab, and ready to come back for her finest hour.

p.s. using the rules as laid out by others is never a dirty trick.

always be careful when a republican accuses you of something.

because as they accuse you, THEY are always the ones doing exactly what they accuse you of.

Why is everything Obama does "major"? Is he trying to make himself seem larger than he is or are you guys at CNN just trying to pump up his candidacy as much as you possibly can? Either way, it won't work. He will have a "major" defeat in November.

Is this going tobe the final phase of the "magical mystery tour", or is this the kick off for a forth book tour. I still don't know why Barack feels he is entitled tobe the President?

Our Girl Hillary could be the beneficiary of a win win situation, either she gets the VP position in 08. Obama looses a close race.

I really resent that Obama puts on this 'preacher attitude' thing and throws out ambiguous spin and goads on the people to back him up with religious ferver. The empty suit people speak of is actually a manipulator and clever talker. His biggest downfall is that he is a Ted Kennedy in young skin.

I really don't know how Barack does it. Always remaining positive, humble and gracious with groups attacking him like: The current WH, McCan't camp, Hillary camp, Pumas, Notfallinginline, many MSM's, and every pointy head white sheet trailer resident in america. They threaten is life, question his patriotism, call him the anti-christ and he just continues a long. I fully support him but really do feel sorry for him. He should be respected for what he's trying to do. He's treated any way but
