(CNN) – Barack Obama's campaign confirms that the Illinois senator will hold an event in his home state Saturday, kicking off the "roll into the convention" - but would not confirm or deny reports that he might be joined on stage by a running mate.

The event will be held in the Old State Capitol in Springfield - where Obama first launched his presidential bid a year and a half ago.

    Obama '08. To all you Hillary supporters: get over it. She brings nothing to the ticket but Bill and which one of you would want to have two vice presidents undermining you for the next four years. Biden is the best choice – smart, seasoned, foreign policy expert, takes no bull, and will help get things done. Hillary has done nothing but whine and according to the Atlantic article she couldn't even run her campaign or finances effectively – who owes money and who has plenty to spare – so why would anyone want her as part of the administration. She made poor choices and she has to live by her choices just like the rest of the world. GO OBAMA!!!!!!!!

    It's my understanding Barack will attempt to raise from the grave Abraham Lincoln himself. What a moment this will be. Hold on...President Lincoln is a Republican!!!! Gosh darn, back to the grave Abe. False alarm, false Prophet.

    Just as Abraham Lincoln knew it was time for a change in the direction of this country. So does Barack Obama. And just like everyone said Lincoln was too inexperienced. Obama will show the world that once again vision and judgment will lead this country into the future. God bless and good luck Senator.

    No Hillary!

    Plus Ann and Yolanda, you should be focusing on fundraising for and donating to Hillary! Hillary's campaign still has a lot of debt in which you, her die-hard supporters, have not paid for!

    Barack, we your base love you and will continue to keep you lifted up in our prayers! Keep your head up, focus and stay strong. Don't get distracted by all of the the hate and even jealousy that has and certainly will come along in your journey. Remember – in humility there is strength!!

    Joshua and Yolanda need to grow up. I can't believe grown people are acting like such sore losers. Wow. Then again, maybe you're closet neoconservatives who purposely troll these boards to create a rift in the Democratic party (or at least the appearance of one). Nice try.

    Yes, give rousing speeches — that's all you are competent for.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ..and all Hillary is competent for is voting for unnecessary wars alongside Bush/Cheney.
    Barack is going to lose his voice of change and the Presidential bid in November, because Biden, like many other Washington politicians, is paid and bought by foreign lobbyists that will dictate White House policies if Biden is in the White House. Biden is not much different from McCain, a hot headed and radical man! Many will stay at home in Illinois, Michigan and Iowa if you choose this man as you running mate!
    Kevin- If by dirty tricks, you mean following the rules exactly as they are written...
    All of Obama's oponents incorrectly filled out the nomination petitions, and he didn't. Just so you know, this is the dirty trick you are refering to.
    Wouldn't it be a hally lou jah salute if he ended it there. I think this country is going to find that if obama is the dems choice they once again kick them selves in the butt and spew crap all over the place. The DNC and the DNC alone will be the reason McCain wins the election.
    See how obama is fading already and he hasn't even started down the home stretch.
    Change can be good, Change can be bad. Unknown commodities like yourself bring to mind visions of a Democratic version of either GW(OJT but count on Dad's old cronies) Bush, Jimmy (Iranian Hostage) Carter or god bless him, Michael Dukakis driving around the grounds in a Tank.
    Respect + Experience = Russians pull back (visions of the only reason the Iranians gave up the Hostages is when they heard Ronnie Ray-Gun had been elected) from Georgia, allowing the Isaraeli's,again, as they did in 1986, to blow p the Iranian Nuclear Reactors, being partners with Europe......ending another mistake of a war and getting Washington D.C. spending under control, preventing Boeing from hijacking another procurement -
    We get all that in Johnnie Mac!
    IF NO HILLARY THEN NO VOTE FOR OBAMA.
    Yolanda:
    You don't understand. Obama can't pick Hillary. Her negatives with the Independents are huge. With conservatives her negatives are even worse and would bring out every single conservative to vote in the Fall against her. Obama would immediately fall behind Mccain in the National Polls if he were to pick Hillary. The close races in Ohio and other States would be lost because those independents and the growing number of outraged republicans would be so great Obama would immediately fall behind in these key States.
    On the other hand Obama can afford to lose a few die-hard blind followers of Hillary as you and still win the election. So why would anyone in their right mind pick Hillary.
    However, lots of Independents will vote Obama!
