(CNN) – Barack Obama's campaign confirms that the Illinois senator will hold an event in his home state Saturday, kicking off the "roll into the convention" - but would not confirm or deny reports that he might be joined on stage by a running mate.

The event will be held in the Old State Capitol in Springfield - where Obama first launched his presidential bid a year and a half ago.

    ObamaRocks says "old man Mccain".

How would you feel if people referred to "black man Obama"?

Maybe some Obama fans can tell us which "ism's" are OK in the New Order. So far we have age and sex discrimination is OK.

It's been a long hard road getting this far, and with the full team in place, Obama will start the sprint for the finish line this Saturday. It's an exciting time to be an American!

If Obama chooses anyone other than Hillary Clinton, he will lose in November against McCain. Biden will not be any help to change my vote.

If no Hillary, NO vote and will vote for McCain.

Obama thinks he is the second coming or something like it. What a joke he is making of the Democrat Party.

Hillary Clinton needs to be the nominee and our next President. Anything less will cause our country to go further down hill!

We get it...you're not voting for Obama.

The rest of us are, we want the US to start back on the road to recovery now, not in 2012.

I'm looking forward to watching this one. And as for all you PUMA fools – get over it! Hillary is out of the picture, Obama does not need her and Bill as a VP and neither does the rest of the country.

  8. Sick & Tired of Nobama

After his pathetic performance at the Forum I am surprised that he can hold his big head up. He really ought to be ashamed of himself and all you obama robots drinking that koolade ought to sober up.
The DNC nominee is a joke and will not win the white house, get used to it.
Why would USA citizens want an upatriotic clown and his unpatriotic wife in the white house? They are both a joke and will have to go crawling back to Chicago.

    Senator Obama -

Please keep the VP slot open on the formal agenda at the Convention.

Woutd the like to see you announce the VP selection via text and e-mail on the day before he/she is to address the convention. May I suggest late Tuesday evening after the end of the convention's business that day?

This will make it far more difficult for the McCain camp to leverage your pick .....

(a.) in making their selection or
    (b) in trying to steal the Democrats "Thunder" after the convention.

Obama isn't going to be bullied into picking Hillary as his VP. Hillary reminds me more of a mother-in-law than anything. She would just be such an overbearing VP with many hidden agendas, and smiling all the way.

"Yes, give rousing speeches — that's all you are competent for."

Seriously, outside of rousing speeches and selecting a competent cabinet, that's all a president has to be. Nobody expects a president to do everything, just like nobody expects a CEO to be his own secretary. The job of the president is to be the figurehead leading the nation. That's why looks are considered so important in the campaigns.

I wish all these PUMA trolls would shut up.

Even if Hillary was the VP, or even the candidate, you still wouldn't vote for the Democratic ticket because you're a bunch of Rush Limbaugh operation chaos morons in disguise who are trying to create trouble in the Democratic party, yet failing miserably.

Is Obama going to have a free concert before he speaks? I would be willing to travel across the state line if I knew who Obama was getting for the opening. Nothing like a free concert to get the crowds.
