Potential VP to attend major McCain event in Ohio

Portman will be on hand the day McCain is expected to name his VP.
Portman will be on hand the day McCain is expected to name his VP.

(CNN) – Former Rep. Rob Portman - who reportedly figures high on John McCain’s VP shortlist - will attend the major campaign rally in Dayton, Ohio next week where the presumptive Republican nominee is expected to make his vice presidential announcement, amid mounting speculation the former Ohio congressman may join the GOP ticket.

Portman representative Rob Lehman confirmed that the former Bush official would be on hand at the event - which is scheduled for Friday, just hours after the Democratic convention officially ends - but added that his presence at the rally is not unusual. “He always tries to attend events when McCain is in Ohio," Lehman told CNN.

Portman campaigned on McCain’s behalf last week in Indiana.

Well.. if only 5 people show up to the convention.. you gotta figure every one is going to be a potential VP :)

Seriously though... why is it that every single person either candidate speaks to, or is seen with, is now a potential VP. Maybe if I can get my picture taken with Obama... I may become a potential VP too!

If he's the pick, expect a smug, melodramatic editorial from renowned political analyst Natalie Portman to be featured at HuffPo in the next couple days, explaining, as if anyone cared, why she is suddenly ashamed of her familial name.

McCain V.P selection is been done by a Lobbyist and Dick Cheney, and even if it's a Woman, with McCain been so ant-woman, anti-immigrants, anti- (socalled) minority, McCain will never be President. He talks about the military so much, but everytime he voted in 27 years he VOTED against the military? Immagine McCain as President, obviously we ant smarts to represent these great United States and that Smart is OBAMA. McCain is another example of the Ole boy system, and the reason he wants to be President is like Hillary, he too think he is entitled to it, but no no no no, NOT THIS TIME!

McCain can pick who-ever he wants – HE will WIN.
Obama is an Arrogant, Radical FRAUD – he will NEVER be elected.
The American People will NOT vote for a FRAUD.

Okay that's one more Republican who will attend other than George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Lieberman and Ridge. Gosh, it will look like George W. Bush running for president all over again.

Obama appears headed for a disaster in the convention in which the

headlines will eclipse the VP pick. He's brought this onto himself by

not being in charge of his positions, which changed substantially and

provided the ammo for the Clintonites to continue putting the spotlight

on Obama's lack of experience and unelectability. I pray for peace.

Soldier 4 OBAMA. Usually anti-McCain blogs have a bunch of falsehoods and maybe one grain of truth. You've achieved 100% falsehood rate. Congrats. Where do you get your facts, DC Comics?

Even the Bush-like candidate McCain is exponentially better for America than the far left Obama. Anyone who seriously considers voting for Obama has not done any research on the man or his beliefs. Be careful what you wish/vote for, you might get it.

I had rather vote for George Bush again rather than to vote for John McCain.

Mccain has not won a war but voted to get the USA into one.
McCain has no experience on foreign policies.
McCain is a mean, angry, old man.
    McCain is not a leader.

    Dream on folks.
McCain will pick a hypocritical old white guy, cause that is what the Republican party is.
Why aren't you all tired of this? Do you believe the Republican lies that their tax cuts will make you all rich?

    Time for a change......

Molly... This American person is voting for your so-called fraud... because what we've had in the last 8 years has been worse then fraud.. it's been the Murder of the American image amongst the world.

How you can possibly vote for McCain when he's openly anti-woman, and constantly votes against military benefits, and wants to continue the same policies that have driven our economy into the ground is absolutely beyond my comprehension. Rather than calling Obama a fraud.. why don't you explain what issue(s) or policy (s) of McCain's it is that you agree on, and what issues or policies of Obama's you disagree with.

Cindy McCain has consistently stated that she was "the only child" but today I heard on NPR that in fact she has a sister from the same father who is pissed that Cindy is lying to the media. Her sister, Kathy, is content that her and Cindy's dad gave Cindy the family business and only gave her $10,000 in his will, but she is pissed that Cindy continually lies to the media about being an only child.

The American people will VOTE OBAMA!! Hopefully once its finished you all can refresh your memory from this post. As far as this guy..check the statistics on Ohio. What have they done for the people there? The unemployment rate as well as new business opportunities is horrible in the state. Housing is needed and the state itself needs to be cleaned up. McCain has a history of FAT POCKETS. If this country likes name brand VOTE McCain. If this country wants change and fresh ideas vote OBAMA!!
    We Love You OBAMA!
