WASHINGTON (CNN) – A federal judge Wednesday denied a request by Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens to move his corruption trial to his home state so he could continue his re-election campaign.

His trial is scheduled to begin Sept. 24 in Washington.

Its been almost a year now and I have had the same home phone number and cell phone number and I have NEVER EVER EVA EVA EVA been polled. So my advice to all you who have not been polled, don’t believe this because after almost a year of campaign polls that the media keeps reporting on you cant tell me AFTER A YEAR they could not have found the time to call either of my phones by now.

As a matter a fact no one I know has been polled. I bet CNN won’t post this because they don’t want people to know that these polls are a load of BS and that they are Media Driven.

Less of people like Moore in the political process would be great. Electing Obama is like electing David Duke. Black or white racism is the same.

Greg   August 20th, 2008 3:38 pm ET

The sad part is that he probably would get re-elected.

What's the whirring noise? Oh, I believe it's the founding fathers in their graves.

ej   August 20th, 2008 3:30 pm ET

Maybe they should try it in Connecticut where they found a former Republican governor guilty of similar home repairs–he had to resign.

PG   August 20th, 2008 3:29 pm ET

He should not worry. Why? Because if Panamanian McCain wins he will either become part of McCain's administration or will receive a pardon.

WHAT ME WORRY? No, my friend you are one of us!

Re-election campaign? Is Ted delusional? Alaska is voting for a Democratic senator this year.

I would not mind seeing the LA DA go down and the same for Rep. Jefferson. I also want to see Stevens, Karl, Rove, Alberto Gonzalea, Tom DeLay and all of the other corrupt "public servants" go.

Thomas   August 20th, 2008 3:12 pm ET

I completly agree that William Jefferson needs to be tried as well.

There should be no favouritism when expelling vermin from Congress.

sharon walker   August 20th, 2008 3:09 pm ET

DEAR FRIENDS:
NO MAN CAN AND IS NOT SUPPOSED TO GET A FAIR TRIAL AND REPRESENTATION EQUALLY OF THE COURTS.

Observer   August 20th, 2008 3:04 pm ET

Ummm...as I recall, Stevens was the one who wanted the trial to begin BEFORE the election, not after. He certainly shouldn't complain about the venue when he was the one who wanted the date moved up. He needs to take his chances, just like everyone else.

The Slovak   August 20th, 2008 3:03 pm ET

Wondering, when is the trial of William Jefferson, Democrat, LA starting? Will there be a change in venue?

I mean, how often do we find $90,000 or so in cash in a freezer in an elected officials house???????????

I guess he doesn't trust the bank with his hard-earned dollars.

bush = niaCcMMcCain = bush   August 20th, 2008 2:58 pm ET

Since Stevens loves his pork, I just have to say; da di da di da di da di, that's all folks.

Kitten for Obama   August 20th, 2008 2:55 pm ET

A fair trial will be in Washington and not Alaska. Why do you need to run again?

S.M   August 20th, 2008 2:54 pm ET

Stevens doesn' t need a change of venue. I guess Stevens felt that he could find a jury of his own peers; Rich and Republican. I know there are some folks who would line up just to serve on that jury.

kathleen   August 20th, 2008 2:52 pm ET

Oh, my God, The Republican convention could include Bush, Rove
Cheney, Hannity, Limbaugh, Delay, the Catholics and the Evangelicals!!!!! What a night!!!!!

TERM LIMITS. Both parties are filled with these criminals!

Texan going independent   August 20th, 2008 2:51 pm ET

Yeah, Ted, move it to Alaska where you can intimidate possible jurors or where they're all already beholden to you in some way.
Sorry, you got caught red handed on this one... if you don't get convicted, then our justice system is in worse shape than I thought.

Michelle, PA   August 20th, 2008 2:51 pm ET

He honestly thinks he'll be re-elected? Are you kidding? What a moron, what an ego!

kathleen   August 20th, 2008 2:50 pm ET

Ian   August 20th, 2008 2:43 pm ET

One more reason to impose term limits.

Brendan H., San Antonio, TX   August 20th, 2008 2:39 pm ET

This is the same Senator Stevens that went on a rant about integrity and family values during the Minica period during Clinton's term.

I'd rather have 8 more years of Clinton than five minutes more of this guy. I wonder how much other corruption is on this guy's table that we haven't heard about yet?

Kent Fitzsimmons,Kewanee, IL   August 20th, 2008 2:34 pm ET

Re-election? Gimme a break. You are all done. They brought this on to you to get rid of you after too many years in office. Get a good set of golf clubs............

Where is the converage of the Repuplican from Forida (Buchanan). This guy made Tom Delay look like Mother Theresa......

Justin from West Haven, CT   August 20th, 2008 2:29 pm ET

I hope this guy goes to prison and loses to the Dem.

Charlotte   August 20th, 2008 2:25 pm ET

This is the type of pork barrel spending McCain is going to stop. A bridge to nowhere, is typical of some things that get attached to bills along the way to becomming a law. Senators should be ashamed of themselves when they attach stupid things to bills that start out as good for the country and end up a bunch of garbage.

Is there a possibilty that someone could take back all the "fringe benefits" he got for his home? Pull that wrap-around porch off if you have to, or make him pay for every red cent at market prices.

No wonder they fight tooth and nail to get into Congress, what a life.

Linda from Prescott AZ   August 20th, 2008 2:11 pm ET

And yet, that democRATic congressman from Louisiana that was caught with $90,000 in cold hard cash in his freezer still walks free. A democRATic congressmant in a democRATic state, geez, no fraud there.

Maggie Muggins From Selwyn   August 20th, 2008 1:57 pm ET

The difference between William Jefferson and Ted Stevens is when Stevens is convicted Bush will pardon him for following the party's platform and policies.

Actually the American people are getting exactly what they deserve by electing these people based on their lies and fear mongering. Hopefully McCain will also get elected and the country gets what it is asking for and it might be just too much to endure.

Thomas   August 20th, 2008 1:54 pm ET

That is optimism for you. Asking your trial for corruption to be moved back home so you can continue campaigning so you can go back and take more graft. Does the good Senator realize that he will probably be going to jail for his crimes?

It is not like these are a few minor trumped up charges. They got you dead to rights Senator. Not only won’t you be reelected, but you probably won’t be allowed to vote. That’s what we do to felons.

As far as the Strawberry woman calling all the women supporting McCain as old hags : guess what their is more old women than their is young Hags.

Dave - Phoenix AZ   August 20th, 2008 1:42 pm ET

I am still waiting for the trial for William Jefferson, Democrat, Louisiana

If corruption is corruption, than we should be rooting it out everywhere it is found.

Rudy NYC   August 20th, 2008 1:42 pm ET

His trial is scheduled to begin Sept. 24 in Washington.

The Justice Department scheduled a trial prior to the election. Just in time for it conclude near Election Day. He is being thrown under the bus by his own party. Good job, Republicans. Clean up your house.

Raymond Duke   August 20th, 2008 1:42 pm ET

I think the trail should be moved to wherever the crime occurred. If it is Alaska then so be it. I saw you closed the article real qyick on (MICHAEL MOORE) wanting Caroline Kennedy to be selected for VP. As you can see by this Obama has the most left of Liberals supporting him and people who have openly stated their hatred for america. Just what moderates need if she was chose to be the on the vp ticket. Another far left wing Kennedy. I guess when you got a great american like Michael Moore endorsing you what can you do but vote for McCain.

Bulldog   August 20th, 2008 1:41 pm ET

Thank you. It's about time money doesn't buy these politicians out of their responsibilities. I sure hope the trial itself is handled the same way. Stevens should be in jail.

Ern   August 20th, 2008 1:38 pm ET

Even if he wasn't so corrupt, it is time to get this idiot out of office.

Susan   August 20th, 2008 1:36 pm ET

tigerakabj   August 20th, 2008 1:35 pm ET

Good. No special treatment. Maybe though, in the middle of his trial, the judge will let him speak at the GOP convention, to really liven up the criminal atmosphere there.

Carl from MI   August 20th, 2008 1:32 pm ET

He's going down for the corrupt Senator that he is. He is the newest member of the Republican Party's Culture of Corruption. Money and Party BEFORE Country, that's their slogan!!!!

And yet, people still vote Repuglican!! This party is corrupt, overflowing with scandal, have completely TRASHED our country and wasted our military on a unnecessary war, and have shredded our Constitution... and yet, you people still support them!!

Alcoholics Anonymous says it best: The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and each time expecting different results." This applies to having a Republican President. WAKE UP, AMERICA!!!

Bob Indianapolis, IN   August 20th, 2008 1:32 pm ET

Tick tock....the clock is ticking for all of these bums. Get them out of Washington. Re-election? Are you kidding me, he needs to be under the jail.

Jeff   August 20th, 2008 1:25 pm ET

Stevens is a crook! He should be indicted for the "bridge to nowhere" if for nothing else. It's time to send a message to congress that the american public will no longer tolerate dishonesty.
