If the country gets swayed by negative advertisements then I guess we deserve another Bush which is what McCain is. McCain is a complete failure in Senate whether it is Campaign Finance or Immigration. He has flip-flopped on Bush taxes, oil drilling and immigration. He was a big supporter of Iraq war, the biggest foreign policy blunder and now is covering up with his support for surge. If people can not see through; I guess we deserve four more years of Bush (at least).

No doubt Cafferty will find some way to make this fall in the polls HRC's fault. I'm from Illinois and I knew eventually every one would see that the Emperor has no clothes. Maybe he should spend less time giving interviews to People Mag. and other fluff mags. that feed his ego but does little to address the problems of the nation and spend more time trying to prepare himself to be President. Oh! wait a minute when ask upon election to the senate he said he wouldn't run because he didn't have enough experience and would have to spend the next few years preparing for the job. He didn't spend that time preparing but it doesn't stop him from running.

I took a poll from my cellphone took about 10-15 minutes and I was not for McCain. I think I blew off a call like this before b/c it sounds like a telemarketing call at first.

Polls are so unreliable in this day and age. With many people using cell phones as their personal lines and with most on the do not call registry how is this reliable? I know if I get a phone call that I do not recognize the number or suspect it is a telemarketer I do not give them the time of day. Let's also factor in a time which this could be occuring... dinner? No one picks up the phone then, later? You get angry people trying to go to bed or put their children to sleep. Earlier? People are working. I'm sorry but I don't trust these polls. How about people just judge for themselves. Polls always have a bias, think of the people who don't own landlines, either for cell phone use or just for the fact that they can't afford them. Nope, don't trust polls.

Obama is still AHEAD!!!!! It only takes ONE vote more than Mcbush to win doesn't it? There were times when Hillary was close in the polls, and we all know how that turned out.
(((Donna from Missouri))))) Hillary was NOT pushed out,she LOST!!!
If you're NOT ok with her losing,I feel sorry for you. It was a contest, with a winner and loser. Did you expect Hillary to be 'given' the nomination, even though she didn't get the votes?
BTW,I've asked this question of other Hillary supporters, without getting a answer....Are you making contributions to help her retire her debt???? That's the only support that's going to help her now.
If you're 'hurt' because obam won the nomination, how bad are you going to feel when he becomes President????
It's going to happen you know!

I don't care about any polls, period! The people in this country are smarter than that. They realize that John McCain is not even remotely qualified to be President, and he will not win. I am 1000% positive Obama will win easily! Get used to the idea!

Does anyone not listen to Chuck Todd or Cafferty? They are the only ones that will speak the truth about these stupid polls and about anything else. The polls mean nothing especially when the polls are being done in an area is that strictly for one than the other. When you ask 1000 people their opinions and they are asked in republican states, of course, the results will be for a republican. People are not dumb. Who cares about these made up meaningless polls. The one that will count is the exit poll and that will freak out the republicans.

Go Obama.

Benedict Arnold was reprimanded for profiteering during the Revolutionary War. He got angry about it, but it was true. That was in the eighteenth century. Now here we are in the twenty first century and not only do we have just one person doing that but a whole administration applying the Benediction practices. Bush, Cheney and just about the whole administration is guilty of this, yet no one dares bring it up. I have not heard one mention of even the possibility that this is occurring. Strange.

So here comes McCain with the same aspirations. He's no different and is just as guilty. Yet once again, no one is taking these greedy men to task about it. We, the people, act as if we don't have a clue. McBush, pumping up his; "drill here, drill now" nonsense with his sights not only on off shore drilling, but also the Georgian pipeline and Iran too. God's judgment will come down on this nation with a fierce wrath and it will be well deserved. Go ahead and elect this baseless and moraless, unprincipled, untrustworthy man if you people want to. But remember, I told you so.

And when our sons and daughters continue to die for unjustified wars, don't cry and complain because we the people like whatever lies are told us to satisfied our national ego. Shame on us. We, the people, will also be judged by God too. And might I add, justly so. So like I said go ahead and vote for McWar, but don't complain about the death toll of our children and grandchildren.

We are a nation of idiots and fools with absolutely no common sense....

P.S. CNN, apparently I'm on your black list as evidenced by the countless times you have refused to post my comments. No matter what FREEDOM OF SPEECH will prevail, even if my voice is silenced. Tell candy I said hello and try to be objective rather than subjective.

Obama supporters - do not fret over polls. Here's the poll you need to look at: If McCain were really up in the polls, why then why, is Obama raising $50,000,000 a month in campaign contributions versus McCain who raises a little over $20,000,000? THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS ARE SUPPORTING OBAMA. If Obama were really down in the polls, it would show in his contributions. Obama has raised more money than any candidate in US history.

Also, for those that do follow polls, Obama's numbers may have slipped a notch or two, but McCain's numbers have not risen at all. McCain is stil in the lower to mid 40%. Also, let's not forget Obama has over 20,000,000 energetic, enthusiastic, youthful foot soldiers who will be working the ground on election day getting out the vote. McCain does not have an army of young, energetic foot soldiers. This election will be won at the ground level. Obama will win, I have no doubt.
OBAMA '08

OBAMA '08

If the American people as a whole can't see that Barack Obama is the best person to be the next president , then we are in for a lot of trouble in this country. John McCain is just another Republicain who will lie ,cheat and degrade to become president. Are we going to be fooled again by a man who is just George Bush with white hair? Mr. Obama just cant seem to get a break from those who hate the idea of an African American president. That is the main reason his lead in the polls will never reach above 50%. America, wake up and elect someone who have your best intrest in mind for a change. These Republicains are the same people who sent our sons and daughters into Irag to die for a lie. Are we just going to forgive them and put them back into the white house?

Repug sleeze tactics + dumb electorate = 4 more years of Corporate rule of America.

If McLame wins I will ask anyone complaining about their low paying job, lack of healthcare, and general lot in life if they voted for McSame - if the answer is yes, then my reply will be, " then shut up".

People really are stupid to fall for the same old sleeze and fear politics. I'll try to explain to my kids why America was destroyed by morons voting for more of the same. God help us all!!!

I live in Missouri and I know of ten people or more that were Clinton supporters that are now saying they are going to vote for McCain.
I have been trying to listen to McCain more since Clinton gave up when all the media started pushing her out,(SHE WAS RIPPED OFF AND PUSHED OUT) ....
Some things McCain is starting to get my attention on and also I felt he did better then Obama when the Pastor questioned them.
I know people will vote for Obama if he has Clinton as his VP because we feel she is more concerned about our health and other issues that effect us as a person, instead of treating us like we are a herd of cattle to be taken care of.
MAYBE if he asked Caroline to be his VP we wouldn't feel so bad for what everyone did to Clinton.
We don't care if Clinton is okay with what happened or not because it was US THE PEOPLE THAT WERE HURT NOT JUST HER*****
Thank you,
Donna in Missouri

What is wrong with America? Why can't we see that being lied to, bullied, and disrespected for the last 8 years will continue with the election of McCain. This man is running a VERY negative campaign full of lies and innuendo. I haven't heard any policies from him that are the polar opposite of Bush. Every town hall meeting is full of criticism of Obama. Please America don't be fooled this year, vote smart, and vote for the candidate that DID NOT endorse this war that got us into this mess in the first place!

Obama supporters are showing very agile rationalizations for his continuing dip in the polls. The real answer is he is the worse choice since Jimmy Carter and people don't vote for losers.

Obama is still ahead isn't he CNN? Even after the constant negative press from you and the other so called Journalists out there. If you covered the McCain campaign as much as you do Obama and continually question and attack him, then you would also see this down turn in the polls that you do! Let the American people see a more objective poll. That will come on election day when we all vote.

Those voting for Obama are not worried. I put nothing past the republicans and because of that I pay no attention to the polls. The polls at the beginning indicated that Obama didnt have a chance at becoming the dems nominee.... And it happened anyway. Just know this, Our country is in state of depression like I have never seen before. Barak Obama will win, make no mistake about it.

If by any chance McCain does manage to lie his way into the White House there may only be one scenario that will save the U.S. and that would be to take all your citizens currently in prison and arm them and send them off to fight the wars you will have throughout the world.

Then after all the prisoners have been killed off you can reinstate the draft and that will end some of the wars as the elite won't be sending their relatives to the slaughter house.

It is amazing to me how dumb the majority of Americans are. Bill Maher said it on LKL last night, and isn't it the truth.

The intellegent citizens, the ones who read up on each candidate, don't listen to the spin and rhetoric of the media and make an informed decision, based on fact, not TV commercials are in the minority.

For them, myself included, it is a celar and easy choice.

Obama is the choice. McWalkingCane isn't even an option.

And I have NEVER been polled!!

My friends... Obama's ahead though is he not? Let me give you some straight talk.. With McCain and his Republican base throwing every sort of dirty attack at him. Calling him the world's greatest celebrity, a fundamentalist muslim terrorist in disguise, the anti-christ even. Saying he's not patriotic, he's elitist, that he doesn't care about our vets, that he's only running to fullfil self-ambition (something McCain accused himself of in 2002 as we now know.)... using some of Hillary Clinton's 3:00am tactics, And Obama's ahead is he not?

Give me a break CNN. Why not report on McCain's "I'm running for President to fullfill self-ambition" admission that he made in 2002? Oh.. I understand. You don't want to do anything that'll damage his image since if he wins he'll line your pockets along with other big cooperations.

Correction: No doubt that republican is the party of the simple minded. Country folk who comment on the Olympics in racial terms. It's easier to judge something by its color, it takes less brain power and attention span, as it is easier for them to just maintain the status quo (Bush and the rest of the republithugs).
His lead hasn't been cut nearly enough to suit me. He should drop out for the good of our country. He would only bring great misery to the USA as he favors other countries first, and tells us up front to expect great "sacrifices" (now just what do you think that is, Obamaniacs? --a loser, who wants to bring USA down to deprived levels of other countries).

Kelby's question of questions. HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE PARTICIPATED IN A POLITICAL POLL?
There are two things in this world that cannot be denied, they are;
The love and grace of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ
And the fact that Barack Obama will be President of The United States.

You all can believe these polls all you want. What I DO know is, I've yet to meet a black person who has been "polled", and we will show up in droves on election day to make sure that Obama wins the White House. You can take that to the bank!

When the election comes and McSame wins, these polls will be meaningless. Exxon Mobil/Walmart has already picked McBush to work for them and this election will be yet another farce. It is sad!

Obama is thinking to attack McCain to get his polls up but he does not understand that he is losing his ground because he is nothing. He has no experience and no judgment. What a shame to be presidential candidate for democrats.Give it up Barack. You have to grow up.

To "The World is Watching" -

I agree with you 110%. Because of Hillary's antics.....and the emotional crap that her PUMA females are still going through is a BIG set back to ever getting a Woman in the White House.

I have a Daughter and Granddaughter and would love a woman in the White House. Just not Hillary. She would have never done it anyway. Her negatives are too high and people who hated McCain would have still come out to vote for him just to vote against her.

Wake up all you bitter emotional women.

SO, and you are saying that to say what. We all know that the only reason the polling is like that is because he is a blank man running for, present . John McCain would actally be beating Hilliary Clinton.

It will be a sad day for this country should the McCain/Clinton strategies win the day. Negative campaigning is effective, if despicable,
However, my money is still on Obama, his intelligence and decency. He has the potential to be a great President, given the chance.

I wrote a rather lengthy respose to this earlier but I guest it was a little too critical of the News Media and a small percetage of the electorates REAL issue with Obama. But that as OK. But let me just say this...when have you EVERY HEARD these as the reason a person SHOULD NOT be elected:
1) Too Popular
2) Too thoughtful in giving answers
3) Lying about their relegion ( Even though EVERYTHING in his history says he is what he says he is)
4) His rhetoric is too positive
5) He doesn't have a REAL plan ( even though there are pages and pages of it on his website)
For 10% of the electorate it has nothing to do with his character....I think you can figure out what the REAL obstacle is...That is why the polls are still tight.

Something to note that CNN does't talk about is that Obama's number have stayed stable throughout all this.
8/19: Obama 46% - McCain 43%
8/13: Obama 47% - McCain 41%
8/8: Obama 46% - McCain 41%
8/6: Obama 46% - McCain 41%
If you go back further, the numbers stay the same. There is maybe 1-2% fluctuations to McCain from the undecideds, but Obama's numbers stay stable.
