Source: Obama was 'hung up' on change vs. experience

While making the rounds in Virginia Thursday, Sen. Obama told reporters that he'd decided on a running mate but refused to say any more.
While making the rounds in Virginia Thursday, Sen. Obama told reporters that he'd decided on a running mate but refused to say any more.

(CNN) - The VP choice was a difficult one for Obama, a source close to the Illinois senator tells CNN's Gloria Borger.

Watch: "I've made the selection," says Obama

Specifically Obama was "very hung up on the experience versus change,” the source said, and how his message of change may conflict with a longtime Washington insider.

The source doesn't know who Obama ultimately chose, but confirms Sens. Joe Biden and Evan Bayh, along with Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine are all in the running.

    Hey Bitter

    How rude.

The country has no values that uses propoganda to go to war. Fellow citizens calling others white trash and looking down on others. If you haven't noticed the country is losing it's standing in the international community, fellow Americans losing their homes and jobs. I hope you are using you high standing to improve on the state of country

    Biden is a TERRIBLE choice
    1) No one knows him like HIllary
    2) His so called "foreign policy experience" wont help obama
    3) It will go against Obama's message

    HILLARY IS HIS ONLY CHOICE.

    HILLARY FOR VP

He's the change, now he needs experience on the ticket. Come on, people, he's trying to win over more supporters, not get his own to support him even more.

I THINK MOST WONT WANT TO ADMIT IT BUT THEY HAVE A HARD TIME ABOUT IT BECAUSE OF THE COLOR OF HIS SKIN

WE NEED FRESH BLOOD IN THE WHITE HOUSE BECAUSE THE LAST 8 YEARS HAVE TORN OUR COUNTRY DOWN

THE ONLY PEOPLE HUNG UP ARE THE PEOPLE WHO MAKE $5 MILLION A YEAR OR MAYBE $3 MILLION OR ARE WORTH $100 MILLION, WHAT A BORING LIFE. THE WHITE HOUSE WOULD BE JUST ANOTHER HOUSE TO GLORIFY WHILE LIVING TAX FREE AND AMERICANS ARE SITTING ON THE SIDELINE WATCHING AND PAYING.

Obama has put himself into a corner–He has to choose between the best of 2 evils-
    Experienced VP-
    Hurts His Change Deal-
    New Face-
    Not enough experience–
Either way he loses and putting himself in this position is an example of inexperience–

Kim, if you think Obama's hair is gray now, wait until he has been president for seven years.

But back on topic.... Gloria, your article reads like a National Enquirer piece (of dung), all gossipy with an "Unamed source" to boot.

What's up, too many reporters on the Kayla story?

He is probably afraid to pick a VP because there may be someone to outshine him! So.. he has started all this hooplah about his VP to get some "free" media attention!

I'll take fresh ideas over bad experience any day. Everyone screaming about experience... but everyone who's running with all this experience has shown what that experience has led to... the worst economy and foreign policy we've had in decades!

So.. go ahead and tout your experience... because the experience we've had so far has been bad experience.. with no new ideas to bring us out of our bad times.

Don't get me wrong.. I don't have a problem with having an experienced VP... but I'm glad we'll have someone with fresh ideas calling the shots.. and someone with experience with whom he can temper his ideas with.

    Yes Kim

Obama starting to show some gray hair is all just a political ploy created by the dems to make him look experienced...

I think South Park said it best. 25% of the population of this country is retarded.

I wish these Hillary people would stop now! In response to the nut above, where is Hillary's loyal following? Hillary can't even get her loyal following to pay off her multi-million dollar campaign debt. Hillary has distanced herself from her PUMA's, where are all these throngs of people still devoted to Hillary?? At this point in time, Hillary has ceased to become a viable Senator. All this talk of her grand career after the Primaries seems to have vanished like all the cameras that were once trained on her around the clock. Hillary, thank god, is disappearing even faster than I could have hoped for.

So you believe in his collecting tax payers hard earned money for 26 years and he leads all congress people in being Absent (AWOL)..No wonder we are in the miss we are in with Bitter/Uneducated in the facts of life/real world people like you..reap what you sow

Let's hope that the vice president is more electable than Obama because he is going down the tubes, he is being flushed out.

The only way Obama can win the presidency is if uncle George Soros buys it for him, and that will never happen.

So, we can be sure that the Democratic Party ruined their opportunity to govern this great country and because of their corruption and selection of a candidate they will live to regret it.

So, get ready for President John Sydney McCain

RE: a Bitter mid westerner who loves guns and God – you’re a sick puppy and you need to refrain from drinking and blogging .

I have absolute confidence in Obama. Obama has shown no propensity for gambling or carelessness and exhibited the highest moral standards in how he has lived his life.

    August 21, 2008 08:50 pm at 8:50 pm |
  23. what is experience?

    let's see McCain's and his buddy's experience ...
    lying to the American public,
leading the country to a wrong war,
    destroying America's foreign relations,
leaving the country in thrillions of debt,
    bombing this,
    bombing that ...

sure Obama doesn't have that experience.

Anyone he chooses on that list has more experience than him, was it tough to figure out which one wouldn't make it so obvious?

  25. McCain is such a HATER

All these PUMA voters are good for is mouthing off. This has been proven by the fact that hillary is still $25 million in debt. She only rasied $2 million last month towards her debt. How come? I thought she was 18 million supporters strong? Oh yeah that's right, that's all they're good for, is complaining and stomping their feet like whiney children who didn't get thier way. If they'd take a few minutes out of their ranting sessions and write a $1- $5 check to her campaign, maybe she'd be out of debt already? You puma's do realize her mis-management of her funds has completely ruined her political career right? The funny thing is, the only comments on these blogs that I read where people are saying that they donated to hillary are usually teh Obama supporters. Weird hey? I doubt I'd ever see a PUMA donate to Obama's campaign though.
