(CNN) — After hours staking out Joe Biden's Delaware home with no sign of the prospective VP candidate, reporters are now witnessing a flurry of activity.

Cars have recently pulled into the driveway — including a police car — and Biden's daughter, son, and wife are now believed to be inside.

Is the Delaware Democrat gathering his family ahead of a big announcement?

Republicans need to stop pretending to be Hillary supporters.

Obama made a smart choice in not picking Ms. "Intitled"!!!

JAC   August 23rd, 2008 12:05 am ET

Does anyone else wish it were Biden/Obama?

Coach   August 23rd, 2008 12:05 am ET

Uhhh…Lisa. You can't write in a Vice Presidential candidate. They call it a 'ticket' because you have to vote for both or neither.
I hope you do more homework before you actually vote for who will be my next president.

Reasonable Observer   August 23rd, 2008 12:05 am ET

A Senator with more negative comments about Obama than McCain = Biden. Not to mention that Biden got " the most important" decision wrong.

Most importantly if this happens - the Democratic ticket looks backwards. The experience needs to be at the top of the ticket.

Larry in TX   August 23rd, 2008 12:03 am ET

Whatta ya know, Joe?
Apparently, quite a lot.
Take care not to show up your running mate
While coverin' the number two spot.

Oh please! Biden is as old as McCain! This is change????
I don't think so…. politics as usual. You Obamafans just don't get it do you? He's a career politician!!!! Biden AND Obama! How's that 'change' gonna work out for you? It's not. Obama is lame. He's a joke.

Steve   August 22nd, 2008 11:58 pm ET

Biden is one of the few people that would make me strongly consider voting Obama. Joe has a great record of public service and was my choice to be our next president.

arlene, CA   August 22nd, 2008 11:31 pm ET

Obama/Biden the winning team.

Dena   August 22nd, 2008 11:21 pm ET

Haha if it is Biden the Repubs are drooling and doing the happy dance…They have so much to attack Biden on its gonna be a feast…I cant wait till Mccain mops the floor with Nobama! GO MCCAIN

Two pompous pricks, both full of themselves - great combination.

Seth Jordan   August 22nd, 2008 11:17 pm ET

How about Hillary for Secretary of Health?
That would give her the opportunity to finally implement the much needed Health care reform that she and Bill always promised, but were never able to deliver on. With Obama in the White Hose and a Democrat Senate and Congress, it could happen now and she could take the credit.
Would you diehard Hillary supporters really prefer more Republican incompetence and corruption over the next for years, rather than an Obama administraton that included the Clintons?

james   August 22nd, 2008 11:16 pm ET

HOW THE HELL IS OBAMA GOING TO REPRESENT "CHANGE" WITH THAT WASHINGTON INSIDER BIDEN ON THE TICKET???.

SAY HELLO TO MCCAIN 'O8 AND HILLARY '12

lovable liberal   August 22nd, 2008 11:15 pm ET

If Biden is the pick, well, I know people who will be happy, but I don't see it as helping win, and that's the only criterion I have for a VP pick.

Ramesh Shrestha   August 22nd, 2008 11:14 pm ET

Stop yelping all you jackals!!!

end of the suspense

Michael   August 22nd, 2008 11:12 pm ET

Evan,

I just spent the last 8 years on the moon and the earth looks just stunning from there. You get this wonderfull clarity. You should try it some time.
I had to mail my 2004 ballot with my vote for Bush the day after both Bush and Kerry were officially nominated, mail takes a long time from the moon.
I'm back on Earth now though, now internet connection on the moon.

tom   August 22nd, 2008 11:11 pm ET

I had a lot of money and credibility riding on it being Bayh or Kaine!

They would be much better choices than the prolix and "articulate" Biden!

CM   August 22nd, 2008 11:06 pm ET

Go ahead and write in Hillary's name and waste your vote. It'll be counted as other and won;t matter anyway. Go ahead and vote McCain, you know you want to anyway. I don't think even HRC on the ticket would have changed your minds.

I'd love to see you 'ballot writers' figure out how to write-in on a voting machine.

No threats for VP from you closet repubs.

An American voter   August 22nd, 2008 10:55 pm ET

If the choice is Biden, it is an outstanding choice ! There is no one better suited to step in and boost Obama's campaign than Joe Biden………………..He will really take it to the republicans big time !

NO VOTE   August 22nd, 2008 10:48 pm ET

NO VOTE FROM ME FOR OBAMA/WHOEVER

Matt   August 22nd, 2008 10:46 pm ET

Hopefully this means something. I hope it will be Biden, he would bring experience to the ticket and would crush McCain into the ground. Bill Richardson would be a good choice. But I just hope he won't choose Sebelius, that would be a automatic loss of all Clinton votes, cause they would be like, if a women, why not hillary? And where did this Chet Edwards guy come from? He wasn't on the short list until today. But since Obama made his choice I will respect who it is.

Barack Obama
Joe Biden

Cleve   August 22nd, 2008 10:46 pm ET

Mr Biden ran a spirited campaign and knew when it was time to get out. He got out and did not employ the slash and burn technique like someone else we know of.

Monica, Texas   August 22nd, 2008 10:44 pm ET

I hope his choice is Biden…Hillary folks need to remember this is Obama's choice in spite of what anyone may think through out the primaries and the general, Obama has run an outstanding campaign compared to Hillary or McCain. This let's us know how he would manage being the President. Everyone needs to stay focus on the big picture and stop the bickering. This should be about uniting and regaining the WH.

LOU IN MINNESOTA   August 22nd, 2008 10:43 pm ET

Vote McCain in 2008

Nate in Pittsburgh   August 22nd, 2008 10:43 pm ET

I love this pick if it's true. It's time for a pit bull and that's definitely up Biden's alley. And I especially love how angry this will make the Hillary crowd. Keep up your crowing about not voting, or even better voting against your own best interests out of spite. Every time you people moan about it, it proves that the right person truly did get the nod. We've spent 8 years listening to morons like you, just from the other end of the spectrum. We don't need 4 more. The soap opera is over you spoiled brats. Time to turn the channel on you.

Dave in Chicago   August 22nd, 2008 10:42 pm ET

Biden is an old school politician who's run for President twice and didn't get enough votes in either set of primaries to get elected dog catcher. What does he add to the new politics the Obama promotes? Oh, thats right, promoting is only a marketing thing that has no basis in fact. He'll fit right in.

Pierangelo Presti   August 22nd, 2008 10:42 pm ET

blah… oh well i guess it's better that he loses, that way Hillary can have another shot in 2012, seriously, democrats are so stupid for choosing Obama,,,, they should be winning by more than 10 percentage points by now

Steve in Kentucky   August 22nd, 2008 10:39 pm ET

Biden has more experience than Clinton, so what's wrong with that? A VP must be ready to serve as President, if needed. Biden is well-qualified. How can you argue that Clinton would be a better VP? It's less about earning votes, more about qualification.

ellen   August 22nd, 2008 10:38 pm ET

who cares who Obama's running mate will be. Nothing could make
Obama a good president.

BA   August 22nd, 2008 10:37 pm ET

Not picking Hillary will be an insight into what may be his total ineptitude. It will also secure McCains vote from me!

Meltzu   August 22nd, 2008 10:35 pm ET

Gotta hand to The Bama–he's proving to be a media maestro that way he's orchestrating this…a promising trait to be sure and once again showing more finess than Mac Kane.

Dem   August 22nd, 2008 10:35 pm ET

A 3:00 a.m. text message might be viewed in poor taste if the choice ISN'T Clinton, since she made a point of being available at that time in case of an emergency. The Obama camp would be making a point, yet risks alienating Clinton supporters.

BKoi   August 22nd, 2008 10:34 pm ET

How can someone that believes in Democrat policies and principles, want to vote for McCain, if Hillary is not chosen ?? What does that tell you about yourself? Really, it doesn't make sense, does it ? If Hillary is the person you think she is , she will agree with me !! Is she voting for McCain ? Get real will ya?

Mel   August 22nd, 2008 10:32 pm ET

I have received a text mesagge from Obama. Here is the text:

-My VP is Biden….

Then I received another text message saying:

- I will lost the november 2008 election!

Michael   August 22nd, 2008 10:30 pm ET

Mitt out spent McCain 2 to 1 in the primary too but lost. Obama is doing the same thing and losing.

People just have to see McCain a couple of time to recognize he is the real deal and no amount of negative ads will change peoples minds. Obama can spend all the money he wants, but McCain is mainstream America.

If the VP nominee is Joe Biden, old man McCain may need smelling salts. The VP nominee will be the attack dog and McCain will be shredded to pieces. McCain won't know what hit him, which means McCain will keep taking the weekends off to recuperate.

Burt in Texas   August 22nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

I can't believe he made us wait all week for Joe Biden. Yawn. What a gimmick, and the media have nothing better to do than fall all over him. Even less can I believe his treatment of Hillary. It's really all disgusting. I like Obama alot, but what respect I had for him as a candidate is gone. This is one in 18 million whose come to the difficult conclusion that McCain is the choice in '08. Obama's window of opportunity to gain our trust has slammed shut. He thinks he can win without Hillary; he has no one to blame but himself if he can't pull it off. What arrogance.

Denise   August 22nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

I want to know why no one seems to think that it is news worthy to report on Cindy McCain’s lie about being an only child. There have been reports on Obama and his half brother in Kenya, however no stories on Cindy and John McCain’s black balling her sister who lives here in the U.S. She has been interviewed on talk Radio confirming that she was not invited to her father’s funeral and would NOT vote for her own brother-in-law. Despite all you have reported about her helping charities, she gave her sister $10,000 from a multi-million dollar inheritance from their father! Is the media discriminating? Seems like it to me!

John, Portland, Oregon   August 22nd, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Biden is the best pick. He is outspoken, tough, tested and would be a great voice inside and outside the White House. He brings in some Clinton voters, independents, Catholic voters and all in all I think Biden knows that if he ever wants to be President this is probably a smart move. I just cannot wait to see him on the stump because John McCain will get his head handed to him by the hour. Lindsey Gramm and Fox-hole Joe Turncoat will get their lumps too. Biden was my first choice in the early primaries so having him as the Veep is just going to be great.

judy   August 22nd, 2008 10:25 pm ET

i would love to have joe biden as his vp, so he can eat up mcshame and all the airhead republicans. The little children that supported hillary your need to suck it up, get over it and grow up. we need to stop this country from going further into recession and wars. let get behind the dem so the rich don't get richer and the poor don't
get poorer. remember mcshame doesn't remember how many houses he have because he owns too many. i'm trying to understand why hillary supporter are still angry when obama have the same policy as hillary. i'm sure hillary will have a position in obama's cabinet.

If it's anybody but Hillary, it shows more bad judgement from Obama. I don't care if it's the old guy, "Hair Plugs" Biden, or anybody else. The only one who is fully qualified to be prez and won the People's Vote is Hillary.

Hey Art,
I've meet some Hillary people and they don't need any help from Republicans getting stoked up. I don't know what their raw numbers are, but they are like a bunch of wolverines. The only thing that saved me was I admitted I was voting for McCain. It was like an enemy of my enemy moment.

DNC party should be fun, like a cage match, last man or woman standing.

Obama has a very slim lead in the feel good national vote. McCain has the lead in the one that counts, the electorial vote, 274 to 264. Looks like dejvu all over again.

You have got to be kidding me….with all that is going on in the world now CNN has to sit in front of our elected officials homes to see if anyone is moving around so they might possibly be a running mate???? So what if Biden is the VP candidate, the election is still over two months away and the race is going to be tight. This will mean nothing in a few days. Americans are so used to reality TV now that they cant live in reality themselves. Go out and do something for your neighbor or a family member. Give back to a country that is still the greatest ever in the history of the world!

Ask the Viet Nam vets, find out about the "cross-in-the-dirt" story in Solzhenitsyn's book "Gulag Archipeligo" - do you think he stole the story from McCain? But, wait, Solzhenitsyn's story had the cross in the sand, (my bad).

Texas Trail Dog   August 22nd, 2008 10:12 pm ET

Well if it's Joe Biden then OBAMA is admitting he does not have enough experience to be President. Enough said on that part. If he believes Biden is what he will need to gain the White House he is again so mislead. Biden is and has been a laughing joke in Washington. He is bad as the Kennedys, Kerrys, Deans, Pelosi and the like.

Will   August 22nd, 2008 10:11 pm ET

Hey RJ in CA. I hate to show your ignorance (it's too easy) but any poll that is dated August 18-25 is probably not acurate, as it's only August 22nd. Nice try. Desperate times (and angry, old, senile, lying, cheating adulterers) require desperate measures.

It was "'I think I have a much higher I.Q. than you do"–a bizarre videotaped putdown that Biden immediately called into question with five (5) boasts about his academic record, four (4) of which turned out to be easily disproved B.S. …

Michael   August 22nd, 2008 10:02 pm ET

So this is his Delaware home, does that mean he has more than one home? Just curious because I am going to vote for the ticket that owns the most homes. McCain has a big lead though unless Obama's VP has a slew of them. I figure the richest guy is the one who knows the most about the economy. Obama says he knows best about how to fix the economy. But I say show me the money.

Adam Garzoli   August 22nd, 2008 10:02 pm ET

If he picks Biden, even a Republican like me might be forced to support Obama. Biden's background is one that I can truly identify with- the common man of the race.

Joyce Becker   August 22nd, 2008 10:02 pm ET

We are all playing into the suspense, it is starting to get me down, enough already, get it over with already so the signs can be printed and I can go to sleep peacefuly tonight.. If it is Joe Biden, it is an excellent choice, but not really earth shattering. As for McCain's choice, if he picks Romney, they can have a lot of fun counting how many houses they each own–the rich will rule and us common folks don't stand a chance.

Kevin   August 22nd, 2008 10:01 pm ET

To quote Rush Limbaugh, conservatives are saying "Please, please, please, let it be Joe Biden." There's just so much ammo that can be used against this guy.

I agree with Art that it's not going to be close, but it's going to be the other way. Historically, the Democrat usually has a large lead at this point, then the Republican makes up ground. Even Dole made up a lot of ground from how far behind he was earlier. If it's basically tied right now, I think that means a landslide for McCain. Obama's just got too many negatives.

Scrapiron   August 22nd, 2008 10:00 pm ET

Either that or he's marshalling his forces to attack the media out front.

F A N T A S T I C….HOPE, its Joe Biden.

KO   August 22nd, 2008 9:59 pm ET

Well, that's cable news for ya…they have all time in the world to talk about these things as oppsed to nighly news cast. It may have been a little much to have camera crews out there all day. But I'm betting it's Biden now.

Matt   August 22nd, 2008 9:59 pm ET

Setting up stakeouts at the homes of all the VP choices is silly and outlandish. Use the time to research and educate the public of the issues the next president and vice president will face so they can intellectually voice their opinion. Leave the stalking to the paparazzi.

Alice in Florida   August 22nd, 2008 9:58 pm ET

The only ones who look more foolish than Barack at this point are the MSM

Paris makes BOTH Barack and the MSM look, like, TOTALLY STUPID at this point

EVEN BRITNEY looks smarter than ALL OF THEM at this point!!!!!!!!!!

Like, at this point, who CARES anymore??????

It's not Hillary, so the race-card-playing-empty-suit will go DOWN in November

We PUMA's will MAKE SURE of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bye, bye, Barack - time to go rejoin your racist hate-filled church to make CERTAIN you'll still be a Junior Senator from Chicago

I'm SURE all those "Christians" will revote you into office

DannyCali   August 22nd, 2008 9:58 pm ET

I think Biden is another Dick. After this announcement more of Hillary supporter going to vote for McCain because Obama is lied, he said his ready but the real thing is he not ready yet.

Voter from NC   August 22nd, 2008 9:58 pm ET

I don't really care who Obama names as his running mate. I can't wait to get ino the voting booth in November and vote against that empty suit, He is by far the most unqualified person ever to run for president.

R Wolf   August 22nd, 2008 9:57 pm ET

It's interesting how the media acts like all this is so silly, but the only silly ones are the media. They are so desperate to say anything that they spend hours talking about the same mindless rumors. There are so many things going on in this Country and World that are newsworthy, so just wait until tomorrow and stop this childish behavior.

Emma   August 22nd, 2008 9:57 pm ET

Biden is amusing, and that's about all I can say. If he's the one, Obama is going to need a lot of help to get elected. With Hillary he would have stood a better chance.

Just think CNN - what if you all were stuck in the radio world - we don't want to be stuck in the previous century either !!!!!!

If a president isn't forward thinking, we're all in trouble. (frankly, I'm sick of hearing about NAM - we have bigger fish to fry)

Make 'em all WAIT Obama! Send out the email on Monday! Everyone's talking about it - even the haters.

Too bad no one's excited over McCain's pick. It's simple, really. Repub/conservatives are in fits over the candidate in general, and his Veep "short list". So instead of jumping up in anticipation for the future and flag bearer of their party, they're busy trying to bring down the Dems and stoke Clinton anger among the party.

Don't worry G.O.P., America will focus on McCsame - and when they do, they'll see a wealthy warmonger maverick with no support from his own base, and who's going to get seriously hurt by the Barr libertarian candidacy.

Heck, even T. Boone Pickens met with Obama!

Congress seems to be sleeping and if this election drags on any longer so will most of the citizens of this nation.

The hype, the childishness, the breathless speculation, is all from the media. Just as McCain will do eventually, Obama is going to name his choice on his schedule, not the press's schedule.

SPL   August 22nd, 2008 9:25 pm ET

I'm personally hoping that Obama goes against the norm and has a two part announcement, 1) Chet Edwards or Bayh for VP, 2) If elected, Biden will be his Sec. of State. Edwards has foreign policy experience and represents change, while announcing Biden as the Sec. of State would give a third person to fundraise, answers all foreign policy questions, and means that Biden's mouth is less of an issue. Unlikely, but it would be close to flawless.
