Fake VP announcements sent...even to White House press

Obama has yet to name his VP candidate.
Obama has yet to name his VP candidate.

(CNN) – Eager VP-watchers waiting for the text message announcement of Barack Obama’s choice of running mate have gotten their answer: It’s Hillary Clinton. And Tim Kaine. And Kathleen Sebelius.

Since declaring the Democratic vice presidential pick would first be announced over e-mail and text message, several hoax announcements of the Illinois senator's choice have circulated, purporting to be from the Obama campaign.

The latest came in e-mail Friday morning that hit the inboxes of many White House reporters, carrying the subject, "My Vice President."

The e-mail, from the address obama08campaign@aol.com, was purportedly from Barack Obama and read, "I said you would be the first to know, and you are - I have selected Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine as my running mate!”

No word on when the real e-mail will be sent.

As childish and boring as Obama's playing "I've Got a Secret" is, anything beats having had a fraud as president for the last 8 years.

This is not a game! Those of you who think it is, you can thank the media.

If I remember correctly, Barack said he would announce his choice for VP sometime Saturday... if I am not mistaken – it is still Friday.

Please, save your breath and do not speculate things that have already been known for some time... grow up.

    CNN please post my comment.

I am suspcious of who may be behind these hoax e-mails regarding Obama's VP choice. When the real e-mail comes from Obama, people may think that it is also hoax and don't care about it spoiling all the excitement built up so far.

The media sold a lot of advertising today, hoping that he would announce today. If they don't get viewers like they promised to the ads they sold, then they don't get paid. This is an example of the media doing whatever they can to get those viewers.

He's having too much fun watching McCain take a thumping over his 7 to 10 (who knows?) houses. Why interrupt a perfect news cycle with some actual news?

Let 'em sweat, Senator! We can wait!

"to everybody writing a retort to the initial story, or lack thereof. If you want to be taken seriously, then use spell check. I can't and won't take anybody seriously if they do not know how to speak the very language that is one of the building blocks to our culture, and our society."

You need a capital for your opening sentence. No need for commas prior to or as well as and.

Oh... and your second sentence is a run on.

So, once you know, then what? There is so much more the Bloggers and corporate media could be checking out and reporting, rather than taking the easy path of it-makes-no-difference entertainment. Election outcomes seldom is ever turn on VP selections.

I hear old man McCain is seriously considering Paris Hilton for V.P. He was so impressed with her commercial responding to his attack on Obama, as well as her energy plan.

Now that is one sex video I can do without.

  19. McCain's pick

Why all this hateful stuff directed at Obama? This is no big deal - the media is doing or will do the same with McCain and he has pretty much been as secretive as BO. Plus, as far as "playing games" goes, McCain is the one timing his announcement to distract from Democratic Convention news blitz.
If you don't want to vote for Obama, then don't. Why all the hate? And of course, these fake Clintonistas fool no one - no real Democrat would ever vote for McCain.

Have you bashers actually READ the article above? The fake messages are not frmo Obama playing games, they are pranks. I personally think the text thing was a wonderful idea, and a great way to reward his supporters for being there for him. Reminds of when Michael Jordan came back from retirement and sent a fax to ESPN that simply said "I'm back." Why should the media be the first to know everything; Especially as negatively as they try to portray Obama.
