Fake VP announcements sent...even to White House press

Obama has yet to name his VP candidate.
Obama has yet to name his VP candidate.

(CNN) – Eager VP-watchers waiting for the text message announcement of Barack Obama’s choice of running mate have gotten their answer: It’s Hillary Clinton. And Tim Kaine. And Kathleen Sebelius.

Since declaring the Democratic vice presidential pick would first be announced over e-mail and text message, several hoax announcements of the Illinois senator's choice have circulated, purporting to be from the Obama campaign.

The latest came in e-mail Friday morning that hit the inboxes of many White House reporters, carrying the subject, "My Vice President."

The e-mail, from the address obama08campaign@aol.com, was purportedly from Barack Obama and read, "I said you would be the first to know, and you are - I have selected Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine as my running mate!”

No word on when the real e-mail will be sent.

With the Olympics on TV starting at 8PM and the 7PM major news networks taping around 6PM, he needs to do this soon. I plan to vote for him and I have to admit I'm getting anoyed.

I am suspicious who may be behind the hoax e-mails regarding Obama's VP. When the true e-mail comes for Obama peoople may thing it is also a hoax.

Wow, no wonder we're at war in so many countries. It's that easy to send fake emails into the White House.

Now it's just insulting. This isn't American Idol and now just ridiculous. It's nice to see my party (Dems) lose this election so methodically and almost on purpose. It seems since Clinton had almost as many votes as Obama and is strong in states he's weak in, she would be the most logical. But logic and politics would be too easy.

Well, what did you expect? The MSM is fawning over every move that Obama makes (cost Hillary the primary). Of course some idiots are going to do something like this when they see all the attention they're going to get. Big Surprise!

This is really pathetic, if he is calling all the LOSERS first and telling us about it later, does he think his supporters who got him here in the first place are not as important as the LOSERS?

Barry, make the announncement and let's get it over with.

You and your VP candidate are going to lose in November anyways, so why be so dramatic about it.

Barry's a socialist and big-spender of American's hard earned tax money...why would anyone vote for him?

I agree with Mario...I'm getting to the point that I don't really care who it is.
Soon the announcement is going to be anti-climatic......unless the choice is Hillary Clinton. Hm-m-m!

  13. Why is this news?

Report on it when it actually happens. Besides, THIS is old. First you announce that someone is dead when they're not, and now this? get real.

What a goofball. Juvenile and stupid. And you guys want him to be the President of the United States of America. Here's a good one....McCain is going to pick Hillary Clinton. Then he would win in a LANDSLIDE and make history too.

Doesn't matter much to me who Obama picks, he's got my vote anyway. I just hope McCain doesnt pick Romney. We don't need another religious lunatic near the white house.

I don't agree that Obama is doing this for media attention. He probably has a few things to take care of before he makes the announcement. It's the media thats causing too much hype about it. Let him take his own time... it's his decision!

    Bill from Florida,

It doesn't say that Barack's campaign sent it, it said people pretending to be him did. This is the problem with over the top conservatives, your education has not allowed you to be able to read a full story before forming a conclusion. Slow down a minute, take a breath, and read for once. If you get a migraine stop and relax, and try again. We Democrats have learned to deal with headaches, we've had a huge one since January 20th, 2000.
