Biden criticizes Obama - in new McCain ad

A new GOP ad shows Biden criticizing Obama.

A new GOP ad shows Biden criticizing Obama.

(CNN) - John McCain's campaign is going to the tape.

Wasting little time attacking the newly-minted Democratic presidential ticket, the McCain campaign released a television ad Saturday morning featuring Barack Obama's running mate criticizing the Illinois senator in a primary debate last year.

The 30-second spot, set to air in key states, features an August 2007 primary debate during which Joe Biden was asked if he stood by his criticism Obama is not yet ready to be president.

"I think that I stand by the statement," Biden is shown saying.

The ad also features a 2005 interview of Biden during which he praised McCain, saying, "I would be honored to run with or against John McCain, because I think the country would be better off."

Americans don't deserve to have Obama as their president. After picking Bush to Gore in 2000, and bearing in mind all the atrocities of the Bush administration (forging a CIA letter to justify the Iraq War, destroying US's and World's economy and the flawed response to hurricane Katrina, just to name a few), even considering voting for John McCain (that is no longer the maverick he was 5 years ago and is tied with Bush in almost every policy) shows how naive they are.

O'Bama and O'Biden 08 Why not? What more can you ask for? You wanted experience, now you got it all! Change, smarts and someone who calls a spade a spade. Don't even damage Biden's reputation by comparing him to McSame. There is no comparison!

I am delighted about the choice of Joe Biden as Obama's VP running mate! He is brilliant, understands international affairs far better than I believe John McCain can claim. He has been a civil servant a decade longer than John McCain. Also Joe Biden can relate better to the plight of the typical American. He comes from a humble background and has not married into a great fortune. He compliments Barack Obama perfectly.

The fact that John McCain is bringing up statements that Joe Biden made during the primaries is interesting. If, as suspected, John McCain chooses Mitt Romney as his running mate, the Obama campaign can bring out multiple tapes of John McCain ridiculing Romney with derisive laughter. That, to me, is far worse than Joe Biden stating that he believed he had the most experience of any of his rivals durng the primaries.

What is this person thinking? seriously yeah Big Mac?
I really don't understand why everyone has such a problem with barracks experience. He had the right state of mind not to vote for the war. Experience isn't only how old you are, but what you have done with the time it took you to get where you are.
McCain's history is built with bullets and beer, and a house or two here and there. How can someone relate to the general public like that.
Barrack's history is painted with working for public works and trying to improve chicago.
He speaks to me, a 20 year old college student with a mound of debt, who doesn't own even one house let alone 20 like McCain. I wish you Defunked Hillary fans would realize what your really doing.
Stop voting to spite, and realize they aren't very different.
    Start the change in 08

  7. what is mccain for????

boy McCain has sure turned this GE into a circus...and i still don't know what he is for. i supported Hillary, have concerns about Obama.....but i have no idea who McCain is or what he is for. i do know he is anti-choice and said something about reinstating the draft. now i am a mother of three, i have 16 twins (boy and girl) and my oldest an 18 year old boy...i don't want my kids dying in some war with Iran, so i am going to take my chances with Obama...i am a white woman in afraid to watch McCain take her kids.
i just wish McCain would tell us what he stands for instead of just him being against Obama.

Amazing – people voting for McCain so they can vote for Hillary in 4 years.

Meanwhile, Roe v Wade will be overturned, our economy will fall farther into the abyss, we will re-up for a war that we never should have been in for 100 more years and give takes breaks to anyone who makes less than 500 million dollars.

All because Hillary didn't get what was rightfully hers.

    Makes complete sense.

Biden is a great pick for Obama. Caroline did a terrific job.
An articulate Obama and a seasoned straight talker is a great combination.

Now McCain may want to select Ridge for his VP.
I think Ridge would be better than Romney.

However, Senator McCain is not a warmonger.
He is anti-waterboarding and he will do everything to prevent a war.
No candidates have suffered as much as he has from wars.
It is unfair to call McCain a warmonger after his service to our country.
    But I have heard worse.
If this name-calling continues, who, in the right mind, wants to run for any public office in the future?

I think obama made a good choice. McCain will have a difficult time picking a VP that won't also be picked apart by the Dems. Scary that Clinton supporters will go against everything Hillary believes in to try to elect her in 4 years. That is a long time to leave the country the way it is now? McCain has recently said he supports a "draft" & of course will run a "pro life" White House. I can't imagine anyone who supports Clinton wanting to vote for McCain's policies.

I'd wager that even after releasing this Ad, McCain will still pick Romney as his running mate. Romney said some very disparaging things about McCain before he clinched it, now Romney's his biggest attack dog.

Yeah........yeah..... look in the primaries everyone's out to destroy the other guy's chances. "All's fair in love and war" as they say. And its not personal .........ITS POLITICS!

I think that Sen. Obama choose wisely, I am proud that Sen. Joe Biden is on the ticket. Biden will bring years of experience, wisdom and he's a great talker. Joe Biden will be a formidable debater!

ya ok, and this guy McSame is the guy who also says that Obama is running for president just because he wants to be president; the same guy who accused Obama of the aforementioned admitted HIMSELF IN HIS OWN BOOK about his own ambitions for running for prez.

Biden was obviously saying anything to boost his credentials, but still, an Obama-Biden ticket is a great choice!

  17. Racists Are Cowards

Good, the Republican party will get more racist to vote for their ticket. As if they need more racists.

This is America, you absolutely have the right to vote against Barack because he's black. But don't have a change of heart on your death beds. Racist are usually cowards, and they go out wimpering in the end.

Proud to vote for Barack, and prouder to be black.

People are crying and upset over the GOP ad? Who cares if Biden and Obama were competition? Does that mean he lied back then?

All he said was that at the time he did not believe Obama was ready to lead. (2007 – when Obama was a potential candidate)

He also said he thought that "he" running WITH or AGAINST McCain would be good for this country. (2005 – McCain was still in the back of people's minds as a possible 2008 GOP Pick).

I see nothing wrong with the add – it highlights statements made by Biden against both GOP and DNC candidates. Jesus, you people don't think the Obama camp knew about this statement that was taped? They knew it and picked him anyways.

    Get over yourselves people.

This is REALLY low. I have zero respect for McCain now and would never vote for him.

How low is he willing to go? I can't stand these guys. It is the ultimate in dirty politics and makes me ashamed to be an American.

I am so happy with this add. is the reality. This race is becoming more like a joke. We have another joker on the podium who is arrogant and thinks that he knows everything. He copies rhetoric from the text book and tells the American people. It is too risky to place our great nation in these jokers' hands. It is becoming mor obvious that they are trying to discuss and discuss, have committees after committee and waste our tax-payers money. White house becomes a learning center. Get a life.

They proclaim to be christians yet when it comes to helping the less fortunate they dont........Doesnt the bible say feed the hungry and clothe the poor?
