Biden criticizes Obama - in new McCain ad

A new GOP ad shows Biden criticizing Obama.
A new GOP ad shows Biden criticizing Obama.

(CNN) - John McCain's campaign is going to the tape.

Wasting little time attacking the newly-minted Democratic presidential ticket, the McCain campaign released a television ad Saturday morning featuring Barack Obama's running mate criticizing the Illinois senator in a primary debate last year.

The 30-second spot, set to air in key states, features an August 2007 primary debate during which Joe Biden was asked if he stood by his criticism Obama is not yet ready to be president.

"I think that I stand by the statement," Biden is shown saying.

The ad also features a 2005 interview of Biden during which he praised McCain, saying, "I would be honored to run with or against John McCain, because I think the country would be better off."

Biden was chosen to improve on Obamas few weak spots. McCain obviously needs a younger, down to earth, and in touch VP to make up for all that he is lacking.

Shannon, the FISA vote was a "republican trap" Barack was too smart to fall for it. He'd rather see the country safe than worry about "low info" americans hanging on Rethuglican talking points.

He was running for President. He said this on his last 'Meet the Press' appearance with Sen. Lindsay Graham. That is why he and politicians say anything during presidential debates that seem contradictory in the future.

I'd like to know when and in what context Biden's comments on John McCain were.

What a terrible pick for Obama! His campaign was already falling apart over the past two months and now he picks the man who wouldn't even vote for him as a running mate.

As far as McCain and the number of houses his wife owns (remember some of them are investment property). We have to stop talking about it, it makes democrats look stupid. We defended Kerry and his 6 homes. When we talk about McCain and his 5 + 2 investment homes, we look like 4 years olds. We have to unite and mature as voters for this party, Obama needs all the help he can get.

There is plenty to go after McCain about that's worthy, the house thing is not worthy.

Hillary '08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She needs to argue her case NOW because Obama has lost already!

  12. Hypocrisy has to stop

How are you going to call someone and congratulate them, then run a negative campaign ad behind it. Where was the secret service when John Mccain stabbed Biden in the back.

Romney lit McCain up in the primaries. The old man was quivering like a stroke victim.

Auggie: YOU HIT THE NAIL RIGHT ON THE HEAD BABY!!!

Conservatives condemn (yet they are the biggest hypocrites on the planet). They love to hate people, yet some of them fix their mouths to say they are Christian. NO WAY!! Rick Warren and folks of his ilk (the Evangelicals) are a disgrace and an affront to true Christianity.

I AM PROUDLY CHRISTIAN, AND PROUDLY INDEPENDENT!! There is no way I could ever support the Lying, Hypocritical, Judgemental, Hate-filled, Mammon-chasing Republican platform.

We need people who can think things through, and people with integrity, and sound judgement. McCain has none of those qualities. I'm a 24 year Air Force veteran who is proudly voting for Obama.

    WE NEED RADICAL CHANGE!!!

IF WE DON'T CHANGE COURSE WE'RE GOING TO WIND UP SELLING APPLES JUST TO GET BY.

  15. Hillary supporter for Obama

What I want most is for Hillary Clinton to be able to make the changes she knows this country needs. I wish she could do it as President but she can't. But she certainly CAN'T make any changes with a McCain Presidency.

If you really care about Clinton and her ability to implement policy in the senate, you won't get it if McCain is President, but you CAN get it with an Obama/Biden administration.

Lots of things get said when running against someone for the nomination for the presidency. DUH???????
They can forgive and forget when all is said and done. It is called maturity, which is somewhat lacking in the opposition. MATURITY IN THINKING AND RHETORIC, I MEAN.
I personally would prefer a Clinton/Biden ticket, and maybe the convention can make that happen.

  18. Hillary is not the one

Hillary has zero experience, time for you all to let it go.. I can be married to an accoutant, that doesn't make me a CPA

The reason the world hates her is her sense of entitlement, like she just should have been handed the nomination

  19. Roberta McCain and John McLiar

Isn't it funny how John McCan reacts to everything Obama does? I mean do we want a leader or a follower 894 of 899? If George set us back than McCain is looking to start piling on the dirt. I can see it now Russia, Iran, China, and every other country in the world starts to build its diplomacy around the world and look who would follow...McSame. Russia, China, Iran start to build energy efficient cars and who would follow McCrypt keeper. He seems to be so far behind everyone else. Wasn't he the nominee in March? And he hasn't picked a VP yet? The Republican Party is the FTL party (Follow The Leader).

Of course McCain is going to use this type of information. PLEASE! Obama leading our country is like putting a primary student in charge of a school district. Obama is still on training wheels as Biden can atleast drive a bike: Fear the day we elect a street activist, anti american, USA hater in Obama.

Isn't this the same Biden who two days ago made a point of telling the press that he was not the man, he knew nothing, had spoken to no one. In fact, HE LIED, bold faced to the press. He not only did it once, her did it twice. What a man!!!

All the other potential VP choices made a point of saying nothing when asked, but Biden just couldn't help himself. So now we have a liar (Biden) and inexperience ( Obama) running together.
    Good choice Obama!!!!

McCain has to be thrilled that Obama picked Biden, like a dream come true.

Obama is so scared that McCain is ahead 274 to 264 in the electorial polls, that he picked an attack dog who will in fact do not better than sink his own ship.

So this is how Obama performs under pressure. Just proves what Biden said. He is not ready.

Obama chose Biden to try and match mccain on his experience. I think he is looking at the gerneral election and where the reps can attack him. Obama has little foreign relations experience as well as little time in DC. Biden on the other hand has more experience than any other senator and balances the card. It is a very wise move that hopefully wont alienate too many hillary fans. Lets face it though.....do you really want another republican in office. I couldnt take another 4 years of facism!

What's the fuss? Everyone knows everyone lies during a campaign, saying what's advantageous in the moment... in which case what's the point of dredging up old news clips?

Oh ... and I guess the Republicans will be after Obama for choosing a VP that balances his lack of experience in Foreign Affairs ...

Balancing the ticket ,,, ah, yes ... so obviously McCain will want to get his ticket balance right by choosing a VP who is very intelligent ...
