What do I think about the design / timing of the unveiling of the VP? I think it couldn't have been more brilliantly orchestrated--in keeping with democratic principles, too.
Remember that 3 a.m. call? It came, but not at the White House. And, not for the President. Here is the irony: As much of a tease as it was, the unveiling was designed to put the power to the people again. AMERICA got the 3 a.m. call. We were so stunned because we haven't seen anything resembling democratic leadership in about ...... eight years. (As an educator, struggling to work under the NCLB mandates since 2001, walking through the last two Presidential terms has been a slow and frightening walk with the four horsemen.)
I like to think that in some small way, I answered this administration's first 3 a.m. phone call -- the one that brought one of MY "Jane Democrat" civic responsibilities to the apron of the great proscenium on Monday. Our 3 a.m. call signaled the moment that all people in favor of a FUTURE put animosities and egos aside and get this democracy back in motion again.
POWER to the people.

I am a woman who thinks highly of Hillary Clinton and admires her achievements. She has broken barriers and changed the role of gender in U.S. politics. She would have perfomed well in the White House, but as president, not as veep. I'm looking to 2016 for an unbeatable Hillary Clinton.

Hillary Clinton wants to steer her own ship, and will continue to break barriers. I am glad that she will do this under the Clinton flag. And we will no doubt see the Clinton flag unfurled at the 2008 Democratic Convention. Let's honor Hillary's 2008 race, pledge to support her in the future, and elect Obama-Biden in the fall. By supporting Obama-Biden and becoming a Democratic Party powerhouse in her own right, Hillary and her 18 million supporters will burnish her reputation and position her for many more great things, including leadership of the Senate AND the presidency.

Let's give Obama-Biden our support, while continuing to honor Hillary Clinton and the 18 million who supported her. Hillary for President , 2016!

I can't belive there are still HRC people out there saying the won't vote for Obama. There was a primary people, and she lost ! She fought the good fight and was defeated by a person who has a different vision of America. A vision that most democrats were in favor of.
It's your choice to vote for McCain, yep, 4 more years of what we have experenced for the last 8 years.. Your either democrats or your not.
If you don't stop this nonsence soon you will give Mac the white house.

C'mon, let's be realistic: even though HRC was probably the best veep choice, to have two minorities on one ticket would be a recipe for disaster. This way, the dems actually have a shot at swing voters. Sebellius was obviously not going to get picked, she just had the potential to carry Kansas, so Hillary is the first woman in line for a prominent role in Obama's cabinet. I wouldn't be suprised if Hillary doesn't get a cabinet role, but still, she will for certain be the president in 2016, so for now, HRC supporters, let's get Obama in the White House; I really don't think we need another four years of Bush.

Dear Hillary Supporters: If Hillary had won the election, then I hope she would have had the right to pick whomever she wanted to for VP. At this point, none of us have been privy to the conversations between Obama and the Clintons, but I am confident Hillary will get a significant position in the new administration which will not only highlight her strengths but help heal her candidancy for a future shot at president. Please remember that Obama has been very gracious in trying to work with the Clintons to ensure they have a respectful place at the convention. Let's give him his due and recognize the efforts he has made. Moreover, let's not forget that this election is not about obama or clinton, it's about the future of country. If you step back and look at things from that perspective, then you will see that mccain will be a disaster not only for women and our country but for our children. Let's stand up and take back our country from the Republicans, and special interests groups!

To the PUMAs -

I understand your disappointment in Senator Clinton not getting the nomination (and yes I voted for her). What I do not understand is the lack of common sense.

Voting for McCain is a vote for our troops staying longer in Iraq and Afghanistan, the possibility of another war with Iran which brings with it the very real possibility of the Draft being reinstated (it does not take a military analyst to realize that our troops are spread thin), a greater tax burden being placed on people who are already over taxed, more tax breaks for the wealthy and corporate America (who already have ridiculous tax breaks - think oil companies) a reversal of the reproductive rights (abortion and birth control) that women now have, etc.

I just have one question - are you going to accept the responsibility that goes alone with your vote?

I am a woman and I support Obama/Biden. I am happy Obama picked Biden. I would not have been happy if he picked Clinton. Just because she was second in the primaries does not mean she should have been VP. I think if he picked Clinton the Republicans would have had more than enough fuel to attack and win. With Biden, Obama forces his critics to calm down on his experience on foreign policy. And for all those women out there who are now saying they will vote for McCain then you can kiss your rights good bye! A McCain presidency will erode women's rights, African American rights, and so on. If that happens then I am going to hold you Hillary Supporters responsible because you sold out the party! We need to take back our country and get us back on track. 4 years of McCain is for more years of Bush policy. I hope you Hillary supporters can live with that when you make that choice.

Wow, I have to wonder about people who say "No Hillary, I'm voting McCain"!

Are you really Hillary supporters or are you just pretending and trying to stir up the pot? The differences between John "more of the same" McCain and Barack Obama couldn't more startling. Obama proposes moving away from the republicans' idea of reward the rich and maybe the trickles will help everyone else. The last 30 years couldn't make it more obvious what studies have shown, that the economy, businesses, and all citizens do much better and even are generally happier under Democratic administrations than with republicans in charge.
Wars, spying on it's own citizens, unwarranted arrests, indefinite detention, polarization of all political discussions, etc, etc., are all the result of what George Jr has brought us. Now John McCain wants to continue and, in some cases, go further than Bush with those same policies.
It is time America regained its top position in the world, financially, influentially, and morally. How can that happen when we refuse to acknowledge that the rest of the world does exist and needs to be a partner in so many dire issues we all face.
John Sidney McCain wants to continue fighting the VietNam war as a solution for all that ails us. And as far as experience, someone please explain to me what experience he has and how it is relevant. I am curious to know, because from where I sit, his experience has not given him any way to actually use it for the good of this nation

As an Obama supporter, all I can say to those bitter Hillary backers is that if the roles were reversed, I'd be voting for her. Because we Democrats must win. Win to end the war, restore the economy, bring fairness back to the tax code, find a viable solution for healthcare for all, and restore the image of America with the rest of the world. You can't honestly tell me you think McCain/Romney will do a better job of that than Obama/Biden. Think of your kids, think of your grandkids, I know I do, every night, and I believe Barack and Joe do too. C'mon people, enough ranting, let's turn our anger where it really deserves to be directed - at this administration, at the party that wants four more years of the same, BEAT MCAIN!

It's time fo ryou Clinton supporters (if that's what you really are) to stop acting like whiny, spoiled, immature ignorant sore losers and get with it. If you want to reinstitute the draft, lose your job, end up paying $12 per gallon for gas and put the U.S. in an eight year depression, by all means continue with your temper tantrum and vote for McCain but whatever you choose to do on election day, please just shut up and stop screaming and hollering already. Hillary Clinton will not be i the White House again for a long long time (hopefully never again) and you PMSing idiots better get used to it. It doesn't matter of course because Obama will be president whether you insecure bigoted wingnuts trying to disguise yourself as Hillary supporters like it or not. Please pick up your marbles and take your stupid, childish behinds home already.

Has anyone considered that maybe Hillary doesn't want to be VP? Maybe in their conversations, Obama and Hillary agreed that she'll play another role in an Obama administration. This is politics and a lot happens behind the scenes that we don't see.

How could anyone call themselves a democrat and vote for McCain? A President McCain would lead to the reversal of Roe vs. Wade, set-backs for women, gays, latinos and all minorities. The poor will get poorer and the rich richer.

A vote for McCain makes you a Republican so call yourself what you are.

Remember now it was Hillary Clinton that took herself out of the VP race by wanting her name printed for nomination of President at the DNC in Denver. So Barack Obama made a good, sound choice with Senator Joe Biden as his VP.

I am sure we all will be satisfied with Obama/Biden in office come November.

Thanks.

I'm confused... didn't a handful of you former "Hillary Clinton" supporters push for her to put her name into nomination in the Denver convention? Aren't a couple of you still writing her name in to be President in November? I thought I read that a few of you will vote for McCain who's platform is polar opposite to the Obama/Clinton/Democratic platform?

Then... why so upset about her not being picked as VP? You can't have it both ways. Either you supported Hillary in her support of Obama, and by doing so would have opened the way for her to be VP. Or you supported those of her "supporters" that pushed for her to be nominated as President after Obama won the nomination.

By saying that you would only vote for Obama if he picked Hillary, and given how devisive she was toward the end of her run, she was pushed away from any possiblity of serious consideration for VP.

Sue, I understand your disappointment, but I don't think Obama was ignoring women, my gut says his inner circle knows a lot more dirt on Bill than they want to publicly say, and that's why he couldn't have picked Hillary. It would have been like if he picked John Edwards before the public new about the affair.

Just this May there was a rumor that "fix news" was preparing a dossier of women that Bill had cozied up to after Monica if Hillary got the nomination. Obama just couldn't bring all of that to his campaign.

The real way that he's remembering women, is by supporting our right to choose, giving us back a $1,000 on our taxes (if we make less than $150,000), helping to support a more universal healthcare plan, and having a woman like Michelle at his side who is strong, educated, and can do more than nod her head and smile adoringly.

Obama apparently knows his history. In 1796, Adams was elected President, and Jefferson Vice President. They clashed over many issues - states' rights, foreign policy, etc. It created unneeded tension in the administration.

The same applies to Obama and Clinton. They've fought too hard, too bitterly, and with too little room to compromise that it would be nearly impossible to reconcile. Clinton supporters need to realize this and support Obama. To go from Clinton to McCain, as a quarter of Clinton supporters are doing, is a dramatic change. Stick with your principles and vote for the party that upholds them.

People like "AsBee" are the reason McCain is pulling ahead in the polls. Seriously, don't let grudges get in the way of your judgment. Biden was a really smart move for Obama.

As a registered Democrat, and Hillary supporter, it never ceases to amaze me how completely ignorant democrats can be. Those that would rather plunge this country into further war and chaos by choosing another self proclaimed "Maverick" who goes against just about everything we Democrats stand for, just because their first democratic choice was not nominated, are insane.

It's like rooting for China during the olympics because your favorite olympian (Michael Phelps) didn't qualify for the medal rounds, even though other americans did. Where is your loyalty to what you believe in?!?

Tell me you would vote for McCain because you truly believe in what he says he will do and I can totally dig that. But switch sides and basically become a traitor to your party just because Hillary wasn't nominated for Pres or VP? These are the acts of 5 year olds and ignorant people. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

I vote for who I believe will best guide this country in the right direction. Hillary didn't make it. Ok. I accept that. But I sure as hell ain't going to screw this country by being spiteful and vote for another Bush in McCain. That's the worst thing Hillary supporters can do to themselves. If McCain gets elected and things get worse (and they will under his rule), you will have yourselves to blame. Vote with your brain and heart, and not with your ego.

MS. Sue of Michigan - please unite now if you are truly a DEMOCRAT. The people have chosen OBAMA and Hillary lost - that's why there is a thing called PRIMARY where we select our party's nominee...it's as simple as that. Wouldn't you like and be proud that we are going to have an intelligent and thoughtful President in front of a podium - I can not take anymore eight years of a joker in front of the world audience - AMERICA is way better than that!!! Let's have Statesman in the WH instead of a cowboy and a so called maverick. Am sure HRC will have a prominent place in the cabinet but OBAMA need not shout now in the convention or in his campaign - just unite and let;s pray our PARTY wins this election.

OBAMA/BIDEN08 - am fired up!!!!

Sue from Michigan - you better do some research on Joe before you go off like that. He is the LEAST wealthy person in the entire Senate and actually listed is net worth at -$300,000...yes, NEGATIVE $300,000, a couple of years ago. That means YOU are probably more wealthy than he is.

I love this choice of Obama's. He went for integrity, back-bone, character and experience, and he got it! Those of you still moaning and groaning over HRC need to send her a buck or two so she can hold onto her 100+ million personal funds, and resolve her campaign debt, then get on the bandwagon or shut-up! Your continued whining is beginning to make a great many of us quite ill!

To those of you who still think Hillary should be CROWNED, please remember the virtue of good sportsmanship.....she LOST, fair & square, to the better candidate...I will NEVER undertand why you think that she is ENTITLED....sure, maybe a high position in the cabinet would be appropriate, but honestly, with you folks trying to tear our party apart, you CERTAINLY are not helping her chances....you probably cost her the VP slot....you are the "whiners" the Republicans love...Hillary, because of you, has lost her legacy...Bill, as well !

Great choice-anyone voting for McCain and who-ever he picks as his running mate, get what they deserve and have no right to complain when they get the same of what we've had for the last 8 years…
This Obama/Biden ticket is a great balance no matter what the pundits and Republicans will be saying. Team work is what is needed to make what was once a great country, before Bush, great again
