Some in Clinton's inner-circle are outraged.
Some in Clinton's inner-circle are outraged.

(CNN) - Even as Hillary Clinton praised the newly-minted Democratic presidential ticket Saturday, some in her circle are furious Barack Obama did not appear to give the New York Democrat serious consideration for the No. 2 spot, or even ask for her consultation on the matter.

"Set aside that Obama said she'd be on anybody's short list, set aside anybody's feelings on whether she was deliberately snubbed and the pros and cons of whether it should be her," a former Clinton strategist told CNN's Candy Crowley. "Focus on the politics of it and you have about a quarter of Clinton loyalists still not joining the caravan…for God's sake, not to even make a show of taking her seriously is flatly stupid."

A top Clinton advisor also told CNN they were "outraged," over how the process was conducted.

"You can't put [Obama VP vetters] Eric Holder and Caroline Kennedy on an hour plane ride to Chappaqua just to check the box? They should have done it just for the optics," this person said. "Barack never even said to her, 'Here's how I envision the job'– not one discussion with her about [the position]."

"They thought her supporters were mad before? They are really mad now," this person also said. We knew it was never going to happen but you would have thought they might at least make a show of it."

Former Clinton strategist Paul Begala echoed similar frustrations on CNN Friday night.

"I think there are a lot of Hillary voters who are going to say, 'Hey, wait a minute, man You said you were going to put her on the short list. You know, you didn't even vet her. You didn't call her. You didn't seek her advice,'" Begala said. "By the way, he didn't seek President Clinton's advice either. He's actually the guy who I think picked the best vice president in American history. You would think maybe you would sort of check in with him."

Meanwhile, two sources familiar with Obama's VP search tell CNN's Roland Martin Clinton was very much under consideration, and it's wrong for anyone to suggest that she wasn't.

One of the sources noted the Clintons have lived a very public life, and it's inconceivable for anyone to think that there really is more that needs to be learned from them by requesting additional paperwork, citing the release of documents by her during the primary season.

The other source said both Holder and Kenndey are very familiar with Sen. Clinton and that there was substantive and lengthy conversations among the Obama team with regards to Clinton as vice president.

As an ex-Obama supporter turned Independent, I find it puzzling that Clinton supporters refuse to back someone who agrees with their former candidate roughly 95% of the time. Instead, they would actively vote AGAINST someone who shares nearly all the policies and values of their candidate. They claim it is a matter of "experience," which John McCain does not have either. McCain has never held an executive position, but believes that since he was a POW for five years that he qualifies to be Commander in Chief. As evidenced from the Faith Forum just last week, McCain is as closed-minded and intellectually illiterate as George W.

It doesn't matter who wins the election, because neither one of the candidates can solve America's problems. Just like the Greek, Roman, African, Spanish, Portuguese, German, and British Empires, the golden days of America are unfortunately over. America will soon fall and the new world power will be China.

Bill   August 23rd, 2008 10:37 pm ET

if Clinton's "people" read between the lines, or, better yet listened to her, they knew that she would never have accepted the VP vote. She wanted to be #1, and thats it.
I understand that many think that she should get "something" for her "effort". However, it's a democratic society, and Obama won the nomination. Live with it.
Turn to the GOP, and YOU will live with it, YOU will have something on your mind for then next four years, or beyond......... A question that internally will keep you asking yourself...........Why did i do that.
I'm 52, and, yes, we need a change to try to take control back to OUR COUNTRY. Look at the math, look at the GOP record over the past 8 years. Go ahead, vote for Mcbush, but don't you dare come back in four years and say that you made a mistake.

"When my five year doesn't get is way, he whines, cries, and stamps his little feet, resulting in a spanking. 'c'linton supporters act exactly like little senseless children. They whine, cry and stamp their little feet because they don't get their way. Sounds like 'c'linton supporters need a nap, or a spanking."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just remember, we don't want to hear any whining and crying from you when, either Clinton wins the roll call vote and sends BO packing....or THE ENTIRE ELECTORAL MAP IS A ROSY REPUBLICAN RED ON ELECTION NIGHT. You might find yourself in need of a nap or a spanking yourself !! You are in a rapidly shrinking minority. Face the Facts!
Obama Biden Laden for President? You want Change Obama? I changed my mind   August 23rd, 2008 10:30 pm ET
What has Obama done? He blew it all away i cant believe it. He had a chance to unite the democrats with Hillary Clinton and instead he chose Biden as his choice. Bad move, no wonder Hillary Clinton supporters are angry for not only showing disrespect to Hillary Clinton but to Bill Clinton as well. Now i know why Bill Clinton was angry at Obama. Sounds like the choice of Obama Biden Laden. I do not want John McCain as president and i do not want Obama as the democratic nominee. He has failed to unite the party and disrespected 18 million people. Because of Obama's move he now officially failed to unite the democrats. This is a HUGE MISTAKE, i really cannot believe it. Obama is not qualified to run because he is inexperienced and is weak on foreign policy. Obama sadly has started a civil war within the democratic party, and quite frankly the only thing he has made long time democrats do as he promised "change" is make people "change their minds". From the looks of it i already hear a large portion of Clinton supporters will vote for McCain because of Obama's attitude. I hope that Obama changes his mind and takes off Biden and gives Clinton the number 2 spot. He is failing to unite the party. Sadly because of his choice of Biden he has divided the democrats. The fact that Obama has stated before that he would have direct talks with controversial leaders who are considered enemies of the United States is scary and not too mention the huge coincidence that OBAMA rhymes with OSAMA and Biden with Bin Laden?? OBAMA BIDEN LADEN ohh gee what a huge coincidence that these two are named after the worlds most famous terrorist!!
Away Kid   August 23rd, 2008 10:28 pm ET
It's amazing how disgruntled and how silly these comments are about how Hillary wasn’t consider for VP. I can guaranteed she was closely and I mean very closely consider as a VP candidate. I think as for as tactical reasons she was Barack's choice for VP, but Barack wisely could not chose her because of strategic reasons, although he probably really wanted to. I think he put the country first in the reason why he could not chose Mrs. Clinton. I think Joseph Biden was the best candidate that Barack could have chosen because Mr. Biden fills more squares tactically and strategically for helping Mr. Obama consolidate a coalition to finally defeat Republicans in November.
Bronx, NY   August 23rd, 2008 10:27 pm ET
As a Democrat for 33 years I 'm very dissapointed with Obama's supporters and Obama's decision, I believe in my heart Obama couldv'e made history as the first black president and first women to become VP.
Obama stated he wants change but he chose someone in politics with the same politics as Clintons.
Hilllary has demostrated to be a true Democrat without a question, by being there for him right after the primaries were completed. I wonder if Obama would've done the same thing for Hillary?
Congratulations President McCain.
lilacs   August 23rd, 2008 10:25 pm ET
The republicans are laughting all the way to the white house about how they so easily control how the democracts pick there nominee for president. they want to go against obama,and they got want they wanted the weakest candidate and all they had to do was make everyone think that Hillary was the candidate,that they wanted ,reverse physcology.Worked like a charm,and who did the put agaist the dems worst choice why there worst choice and obama still lost the lead, so he pull out biden thinking that will unite the party. wont happen. Just like bush not a uniter but a divider,so When obama doesnot win it is noones fault but obamas and the dnc for making sure he was selected. I vote with my mind and my loyalty lies with my country not the party,so come nov Iwill vote but not for McCrazy or the devil advocate. By the to all Obama nut tis still a free country and freedom to speak and choose still exist. So if Clinton supports want to vent there choice , when Obama loses let see how you vent, just remember he lost the election and and no one else.
Pat   August 23rd, 2008 10:05 pm ET
The some of the Clinton supporters who are outraged should get unraged and behind the winning Nominee like Hillary has done!
Their performance is totally ridiculous. I can understand to a point their disappointment but the point has been made long ago, it is now time to get on with reality like the rest of us. If you want to vote McCain or the Green Party than do it! But no need to make history in the process!
syed   August 23rd, 2008 10:04 pm ET
Clinton supporters are making a joke of the election process and what democracy is all about. just of out spite they are going to go and vote for a guy who is if elected will exted the 4 years of war, economic slide, and the same dirty politics that have infected our country now. if McCain is elected and the country continues it's downfall then we can't blame the republicans or Mccain, the blame is going to fall squarely on the clintion supporters because they chose to vote for someone out of spite and their personal feelings instead of what really matter, THE ISSUES. They have made a mockary out of democracy, let's stop trying to spread democracry around the world and bring it back to american first. the clinton supporters who choose to vote for McCain just because they are angry a obama are the epitomy of everything that is wrong in the country, forgetting the issues and letting their irrational, greedy, and ignorance mentality drive the coutnry into this downward spiral. forget them, just like hilary and bill they need to shut up and go home, we don't need them. Obama/Bidden all way hilary and bill go away.
Stupid Clinton Voters   August 23rd, 2008 10:04 pm ET
Everyone pretty much knew that Hilary and Obama would not work out, so why are you complaining now that it is offical? Moreover Hilary supporters will not vote for him but yet turn around and declare their vote vote to Mccain because you are mad? Another 4 years of this? Hopefully Clinton voters realize then they are talking about the people suffering from the current goverment, THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT YOU!!!. But hey, if you want to continue to live in poverty and complain, HEY GO AHEAD. Its going to be your house forclosed and your pathetic jobs going overseas.. Soccer moms..
It's more than just "some' that are not happy...just wait and see what the polls look like in a couple of months.
Ilona Hussein Proud Canadian   August 23rd, 2008 10:00 pm ET
I wonder how all of those Hillary Supporters, who have said that they are going to protest at the Convention, will feel, WHEN THEY GET THROWN IN TO THE WAREHOUSE/JAIL. This is really going to be very interesting, and very exciting. I cannot wait to see how many Clinton Supporters will be thrown into this JAIL! THIS SHOULD BE FUN!
Frank, thank you, I got a good chuckle out of your comment, but I think they are acting more like they are going through the terrible twos. It really IS TIME FOR THEM TO GET SOME SERIOUS TIME OUT?
MikeD   August 23rd, 2008 9:57 pm ET
Consult either Clinton? I'm LLOL. She lost, the Clinton era is (thank goodness) finally over.
Time for all these 'mad' supporters to get over it and move on. Everyone else has.
Elephantwatcher   August 23rd, 2008 9:57 pm ET
Please people let's get it together. The Democratic party has a large tent. I am a 50+ year old female who grew up during the feminist movement. What I am seeing and hearing from all of these Hillary supporters is not what the feminist movement was all about. We rose and fell with dignity. We did not expect to get a seat at the table just because we were a woman or came in #2. We knew that we had to work for respect and then accept both our victories and our losses with dignity. There is nothing dignified about the way some of you are acting here. McCain does not support women's rights. That was and continues to be a part of what women's rights are about. Ask yourself, Are you willing to see Roe v Wade reversed or see us backtrack on equal pay or domestic violence? If you can answer yes then you should vote for McCain. I don't think that those of you who are still rational will be able to answer that question in the affirmative.
In your face, Obama.
I am sick and tired of the Hillary supporters feeling disrespected. Get the hell over it. We are in economic and international misery. They should make a commitment to support the man they think is best for this country. I don't care who they vote for. I just want them to close their pie hole and stop spewing their hatred across this earth.
bernard mahoney   August 23rd, 2008 9:56 pm ET
i remember bill clinton saying he would campaign his heart out for the democratic primary winner , clinton is such a lair hes to busy with prostitutes and hookers and chaseing young skirt to campaign for obama . infact ive never seen bill clinton campaign hardout for anyone except a clinton , good point i thinkso .
Percy Smith   August 23rd, 2008 9:55 pm ET
I really like Joe Biden. In fact, he was my second choice during the primary. However, I thought that Senator Obama missed a real opportunity to show he was the bigger person and to unify the party. The individuals that are for Senator Clinton are very displeased and honestly I would not blame them if they stayed at home. If Senator McCain picks Sec. of State Condi Rice the Republicans will continue to hold the Whitehouse.
Yeah Right!!   August 23rd, 2008 9:55 pm ET
Joe Biden knows he was wrong when he said that rubbish about not being ready to lead. Hillary knows she was wrong also. It was merely campaign rhetoric to blindside voters.Too bad John McCain's strategy is seemingly working to convince some of you. Especially since Rigged Warren's hoax of a discussion( and McCain's prepared impromptu deliveries questions he heard while in transit.
Sheila   August 23rd, 2008 9:55 pm ET
Tom, ALBUQUERQUE, NM, I say to you and all those PUMA's and the racist of this country, go ahead, vote for McCain and you can kiss your homes, your jobs, your right to decide if you want an abortion, contiued high gas prices, your sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, sent into another war and your taxes raised why the rich get richer. Go ahead and cut off your nose to spite your face. John McCain is about as senile as Ronald Reagan was, sitting in the White House with Alheimers and Nancy Regan running the country in the end. John McCain is clearly losing his memory. He's a lyar and a womanizer, if he can't be faithful to his wives, what do you think he will do to this country. If McCain gets in, Jack Cafferty said it right, "you will get what you deserve".
I like to point out Obama supporters act exactly like little senseless children as well.
They get upset if any one talks bad about their god.
Obama might have beat hillary but lets face the fact she is a person no one in their right mind would vote for.
She will say or do anything just like her husband in order to get a vote.
For the person that believes Hillary is gracious and gives anyone a sense of her inner strength. I only have one thing to say to you get off the drugs.
Gracious is not what any one would call that woman.
Rob   August 23rd, 2008 9:54 pm ET
Hillary, America and the Democrats spoke to you when they chose Obama as the Democratic nominee. Its HIS choice for his VP. She would have been a horrible choice because she doesnt know how to sit back and let the PRESIDENT do his job. Stop complaining and try again in 2012.
Brad IL.   August 23rd, 2008 9:54 pm ET
from the same state as Obama , he was crap as a state senator and he was crap as a U.S. Senator . That is the only reason why I and my Family will vote for John McCain . Hillary didn't have a whole lot more experiance than Obama but she had Bill. He had 8 great yrs. Obama has nothing but a angry Preacher and a skank wife. Live around Chicago for awhile and see where all your Tax dollars will go. More welfare than you can shake a stick at. John McCain has a good record for voting for what is right and we will take are chance with John . This will be the first for voting for a Republican but it is all about change , Right .
T. Scarletti   August 23rd, 2008 9:54 pm ET
Hilary lost, deservedly so in running a devisive, negative, prejudiced campaign. Who is she that Obama has to consult with her? And her supporters seem to want to have McCain W. Bush get in the White house and continue the downward spiral of the USA. Obama needs to distance himself from the Clintons. They both showed their true colors and inner ugliness in this campaign. Obama should get a medal of honor for wanting to be the next President with all the insanity he faces if he's elected. We need to pray for America's future.
Fed Up with Politics   August 23rd, 2008 9:54 pm ET
Funny...
Anyone figure out that this nomination of Joe Liden as VP has a familiar ring to it?
Put Obama and Liden together on a ticket...have the (bleep) Democrats lost their minds?
Those two together almost rhymes with Osama Bin Laden
Obama (Bin) Liden
Now that's a ticket I WON'T be voting for
If or when Obama loses, you better believe that Obama supporters will start a movement.
It won't have a nice gimmicky name like "PUMA" . I was thinking something like "PIAB" for "Payback is a ___" or maybe PFTB for "Payback for the ____"
Bill   August 23rd, 2008 9:51 pm ET
I am glad that Senator Obama did not pick Hillary Clinton because when he losses and he will Hillary Clinton will be able to run in 2012. Also until today even MSNBC Chriss Mathews knows that Senator Obama cannnot win without the Hillary voters. I just loved it when he asked a Hillary Clinton voter would she be upset if she did not vote for Senator Obama and he lost. The guest stated I would not lose any sleep over it. That is also my feeling I will not lose a bit of sleep either. Remember it was the super delegates who gave Senator Obama over the top. Therefore the super delegates will be the ones that will not be able to sleep for the next four years. Giess what I will not be voting for Senator Obama either. I also will not lose any sleep over it either.
im so sick of u clinton supporters. get over it she lost. face it. clinton knew that if she went after obama hard that it would bite her in the butt. i dont know if obama will win but he has a better chance than if he picked clinton. most in the south wont vote for a african american what makes u people think that clinton would help. if anything he would lose votes. he made the right choice. for u clinton supporters who are gonna vote mccain you are a shame on the democratic party. get over it clinton lost. make the right choice and vote for obama. mccain is just another bush.
Phylis   August 23rd, 2008 9:51 pm ET
I can't believe any woman who supported Senator Clinton's historic candidacy would be foolish enough to vote for McCain out of spite! Don't you realize he will get at least two supreme court nominations if he wins? You foolish, spiteful creatures will flush years of progress away on women's rights if he wins and you help him.
Grow up and act in your own best interests!
tennisguypitt   August 23rd, 2008 9:50 pm ET
I'm happy Biden was chosen to be Obama's VP. He would bring tremendous foreign policy experience to the table. It's a perfect combination.
You "Clinton Supporters" need to shut up and grow up. She lost the nomination fairly. I'm pretty sure Hillary didn't want the VP position anyway. If McBush wins this year, Hillary will be held responsible and she doesn't stand a chance next election.
By the way... why don't you PUMA babies donate a dollar to Hillary? GROW UP! If you really do something like this, you deserve a man like Johnny McBush.
Hey: at least he is honest. He did not play the game of appearing to consider HRC...he's an honest guy. She was so divisive that there was no chanced she should be VP (and Bill makes it even less palatable). He was honest. What a fresh concept.
Stephen Bergie   August 23rd, 2008 9:50 pm ET
It's going to be a very close race and in the end, Obama will regret not having picked Senator Clinton. Unfortunately, he just can't win without her supporters–there are too many of them.
Georgian   August 23rd, 2008 9:50 pm ET
This is so ridiculous! How can you call yourselves a Democrat and just because one Democrat won over the other you will vote Republican. The Clintons are not entitled to anything. Obama made the decision(along with his advisors) for Biden to be on the ticket as the VP nominee. He considered areas that he had been criticized on and tried to strengthen those areas. For those who say that Biden spoke against Obama and he was stupid to pick him...where have you been for the past few months prior to Obama's win?? Clinton all but slandered Obama's name and Did you PUMA'S forget that Bill was impeached and comes with plenty of controversy that the Replublicans had a field day with 10 years ago. Give me a break get over yourselves. Clinton's debt has to be larger for paying all her supporters to keep telling reporters they will not vote for Obama since he won and now since she is not the VP nominee. Because that is the only way I could see you PUMA'S holding on to this idiocy.
Carl   August 23rd, 2008 9:50 pm ET
You know, I've been a big fan of the Clintons' even before they were in the White House (originally from Arkansas) and still am. But their "supporters" really need to get over themselves!! YOU are not the only people in the Democratic party! I mean ever since Obama won the primaries, they've been crying about him not helping her raise money and now that he didn't pick her for VP and worse than that he didn't give her a vetting process. Come on, she's been in the national spotlight for almost 20 years what is there to vet!! Thanks to the "right wing conspiracy" we already know just about everything about her and found out even more during the primaries. I still do love the Clintons and what they've done for the country and the world...so please get over yourselves and do what is best for the party and more importantly for the country and make sure we don't have another 4 years McBush politics.
I am simply becoming ill every time I hear about "Hillary" supporters who are "outraged", or "feeling snubbed", or whatever else has been/is being said about them. They too seem to have a sense of entitlement which may have been given to them by Hillary Clinton. Yes they voted in record numbers, yes they are entitled to be heard just like all the other democrats and republicans. They are not; however, more entitled to special compensation or consideration simply because of how they feel. If so supportive of Hillary Clinton and such a solid voting bloc (PUMAs???) why haven't they given her enough money to settle her debt? Why haven't they each given her just one dollar (that would make 18 million right??). Give me a break! They need to just pick a side (who cares which) and GET OVER IT!
Robert in Greensboro   August 23rd, 2008 9:47 pm ET
It's impressive to see how the political consultants, PR firms, media moguls, and spin-meisters have got so many people to exhibit more loyalty to a political party or a particular candidate than to their own country. That's quite an impressive feat. Of course, with the group-think, lemming mindset that is unfortunately prevalent in our country, I guess it's not a shock. It will be sad but fascinating to watch the continuing decline and failure of our "union" while the political infighting and polarization keep everyone occupied while Rome burns to the ground. Pop the popcorn 'cause it's gonna be one heck of a show.
Mary Stevermer   August 23rd, 2008 9:47 pm ET
FRIEDA   August 23rd, 2008 9:47 pm ET
Obama decision to pick an old time washington insider who is famous gaffer is sooooo disappointing.
How Biden fits into "change", "hope" and new direction????
He lost my vote.
MIAdam   August 23rd, 2008 9:47 pm ET
She really did not need to be vetted. They spent a LONG time running against each other. There really wasn't anything the VP team could have learned about her that the campaign didn't know already.
Hello all Clintonites,
You all just don't get it. I really thought that you all were informed enough to know why he wouldn't choose Hillary. You all Hillary is/was a great woman, but she has a huge problem and that's BILL!
That's why he didn't pick Hillary! It's BILL!
Now if you're not informed enough about Bill then all I can say to you is if you vote McCain then I hope that your life & your childrens lives are ready for more of what I thought you as die hard Hillary supporters were so totally against because Hillary is against McCain! Obama has said that he couldn't pick her (in a interview) because of Bill.
So who are you really hurting by voting McCain?
May God be with you all
drneutrino   August 23rd, 2008 9:21 pm ET
So let me get this straight. All you obsessed Democrat Clintonians' were for all Hilary stood for and now you're voting for McCain and the Republicans who will turn back the already out of balance Supreme Court for the next 50 years.
My father always said its like biting your nose to spite your face. You were worried about the right to choose and if you vote for McCain you'll be lucky if you can actually buy books or take them out of the library after his Supreme Court appointments are confirmed.
Don't forget the only reason Hilary got 18MM votes was because Republicans crossed over because they knew if she won it was a slam dunk for the Republican nominee whoever it was.
diane   August 23rd, 2008 9:21 pm ET
As an avid Clinton supporter, I've had to lick my wounds and merely suggest this, in the words of my 86 year old Irish Catholic Mother-McCain=Bush...CAN YOU AFFORD IT??? Stop the crying, lets move towards a new perspective, after all, it's going to take at least 4 years to fix the Bush annihilation of this country.
Frank   August 23rd, 2008 9:20 pm ET
When my five year doesn't get is way, he whines, cries, and stamps his little feet, resulting in a spanking. 'c'linton supporters act exactly like little senseless children. They whine, cry and stamp their little feet because they don't get their way. Sounds like 'c'linton supporters need a nap, or a spanking.
nag, nag, nag - shut up already crybabies   August 23rd, 2008 9:19 pm ET
Okay, we get it PUMA's you are not going to support Obama. You're sore losers and feel that Clinton was entitled to the office. He should have asked her advice, even though he ran a much better, more intelligent campaign and she's the one who lost and is in debt.
You want more of what you've gotten for 4-8 years more years. We hear you loud and clear. Now we don't need to hear from you anymore, but just remember, Hillary will run again and when she does..... I certainly do not have a short memory. What goes around, comes around.
Would the REPUBLICAN IMPOSTERS POSTING THEIR NEGATIVE COMMENTS ON THIS SITE, please stop pretending to be CRY BABY CLINTON SUPPORTERS.
Please, why do you CONTINUE TO POST YOUR COMMENTS HERE?
You have already told everyone in no uncertain terms, that you are either REPUBLICAN IMPOSTERS, or HILLARY SUPPORTERS WHO WOULD NEVER HAVE VOTED FOR BARACK, so what do you have to gain by continuing to post THE VERY SAME COMMENT OVER AND OVER ON THIS SITE?
We heard you loud and clear, but repeating yourself over, and over again WILL NOT CHANGE ANYTHING AT THIS POINT. The decision has been made, BARACK WON FAIR AND SQUARE, and he has now CHOSEN JOE BIDEN FOR HIS RUNNING MATE.
It is now time for you to FADE AWAY, AND IN NOVEMBER GO RIGHT AHEAD AND CARRY OUT YOUR THREATS. YOU ARE FREE TO VOTE FOR WHOEVER YOU CHOOSE, BUT PLEASE WE ARE TIRED OF HEARING YOUR COMPLAINS, AND AGAIN NOTHING WILL CHANGE AT THIS POINT.
Good luck to all of those voters who will not be voting for Barack in November, for every one person who won't for him, there will be two who will!
craig   August 23rd, 2008 8:46 pm ET
Coolbreeze Hussein   August 23rd, 2008 8:13 pm ET
For all of you so called Patriotic Americans that say you will not vote for the democratic presidential nominee because Hillary lost, I don't think you are very patriotic because you are putting your self pity before your country and allowing a chance for it to continue down the same path. It is clear to me that you want a change from what you have experienced in the past 8 years but you are willing to throw all of that out the window. Now some of you are saying that you can't believe Sen. Obama is tearing the party apart. News Flash!! It is not Senator Obama but it will be YOU if you continue with this self pity and youthful,selfish disregard for others and the well being of this great country.
Obama/Biden 08 and proud of it!
kat in your hat   August 23rd, 2008 8:06 pm ET
Biden: 9,500 votes for President.
Hillary: 18 MILLION votes for President.
To all the Oblow supporters who are talking smack about Hillary, her supporters, including PUMAs, you need to get shock treatment or something. You people have been brainwashed. There is no way Obama can win. Hillary was the only shot at having a democrat in the WH.
There is just no talking sense to you people. The country is NOT going to vote for an inexperienced far lefty, with such a radical history. Do you people even get off your own blocks? Ya'll need to go on a cross country road trip and see a little more of the USA and get a clue.
McCain will obviously be president now, because of YOU naive jerks.
Leslie Larson   August 23rd, 2008 7:48 pm ET
Hillary should have thought about this when she hinted that Obama may be a muslim, or all her other slights that the McCain campaign is now using against him virtually verbatim.
He would always be watching his back and I don't blame him one bit for not taking her. Hillary's position is self-inflicted and if her "supporters" are willing to give up their vote and country just out of spite, then so be it and the karma will be theirs to own.
And for the record, I was for her before she started taking the low road. And I'm white, and I'm 46, and I'm a woman. But first and foremost, I'm an American. And if the situation were reversed I would unquestionably support Hillary.
Obama-Biden '08
Suzanne   August 23rd, 2008 7:20 pm ET
I saw a clip of Hillary herself saying she did not need to be "vetted". She needs to remind her fans...or the media does. In every public appearance I have seen, she is gracious and gives anyone a sense of her inner strength. Any so-called Clinton fan who would vote for McCain, could not possibly believe in what she stands for. If McCain wins, the same fans will be out saying "I told you so". I, for one, don't want to be sitting at my ONE kitchen table hoping beyond hope that McCain does not take the food off of it (so I can pay for gas and healthcare). Obama and Biden will lift us up as a party and a nation. They are believable. So get out and vote with your other Clinton friends and move forward with the country. Who will you help standing still?
Frank   August 23rd, 2008 7:20 pm ET
There is no law saying first runner up gets the VP. In fact, we used to do this in the general election and amended the constitution because it was such a bad idea.
Better to pick someone who works well for you. Also, courting somoene for looks is as bad an idea in politics as it is in high school. You shallowness is completely transparent, and only wastes valuable time.
I am sure that Hillary would much rather focus on doing a good job as a New York Senator than have empty promises thrown her way about being VP: a position she was never really prepared to settle for anyway.
Adam   August 23rd, 2008 7:19 pm ET
I was glad when John King stated what we all are thinking. The Obama Biden ticket mirrors the Bush/Cheney Fiasco. Does Americal really need a inept, inexperience president and a bulldog VP to run the country. I am disappointed that Obama didnt select Clinton.
It was clear that that America has been energized by the two of these candidates and the right thing to do for AMERICA would have been to select HILLARY.
Good Luck Biden and OBAMA, as bad as things are we really need dems in the whitehouse, however I may even sit this one out as i think things in America really need to get bad for Americans to get mad and start voting with common sense.
Thank God Obama picked Biden! Biden is 20 times better than Clinton!
The sad part is I voted for Clinton in the primaries and even contributed to her campaign! That was before I knew she was so divisive and under sniper fire (ha)!
As a former Repub. I will be more than happy to vote for Obama...I would not have if he picked Clinton!
PS: Hey PUMAS Hillary is still in debt, why don't you help her pay it off...you appear to have the time!
the truth   August 23rd, 2008 7:19 pm ET
Obama didn't need to ask for Hillary Clinton's consultation on the matter because he is smarter than she is and he cannot trust her to give him good advice. Clinton wants to harm Obama.
Mary S.   August 23rd, 2008 7:19 pm ET
It is thoroughly disgusting to see the comments from the bitter Hillary supporters. I'm convinced you were never Democrats in the first place. To threaten to stay home or vote for McCain is endorsing the policies of the Republican party. You'll be the first to complain when conservative judges are appointed & Roe v Wade overturned. You should all be ashamed.
If you're a Clinton supporter turned McCain supporter....you'll be remembered in 2012 as the "sour grapes" that gave us McBush another 4 years...Clinton, with that listed on herresume won't have a chance in 2012 either.
Honolulu   August 23rd, 2008 7:15 pm ET
Because Obama is weak on foreign policy, he needed the right person to boost his credentials. Hillary can pull blue collar workers but what foreign policy experience does she have? I've been reading up on Biden because I didn't know what kind of person he was. After listening to him slam Bush on Iraq and with 35 years experience in this area, it was a natural choice for Obama.
You can have 4 to 8 years of change with strong leadership, or you can have 4 to 8 more of McBush. With the way our country is headed, the right thing is to vote democrat.
YOU PEOPLE WILL HAVE TO SUPPORT HILLARY - by making her an integral part of the Obama administration. Even though she is not the VP pick, she can climb the ladder to senate majority leader and still make a difference for OUR COUNTRY.
Abby   August 23rd, 2008 7:15 pm ET
To the obama gang here – NO – Hillary Clinton did not lose – she WON the popular vote. Obama blocked all re-votes in FL & MI – - she would of won, but – now – he wants to count all those loyal voters.
What a FRAUD – always for his own political gain – and the DNC allowed him to STEAL the nomination – but – without the MILLIONS of Hillary's VOTERS – he will NEVER win.
terri ohio   August 23rd, 2008 7:15 pm ET
MOst of the people said they would not vote for Obama because he didnt have any foreign policy experience what foreign policy experience does Hillary clinton have??? Hillary lost the nomination it is up to Obama to pick someone to HELP him run the country not give . HER HUSBAND HELPED HER LOSE THE NOMINATION AND HE ALSO HELPED HER LOSE THE VICE PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATION... THIS GUY WOULDN'T EVEN SPEAK TO OBAMA... WHY WOULD YOU DEAL WITH 8 YEARS OF THIS... IS THE HISTORY MAKING OF HILLARY CLINTON AS IMPORTANT AS EATING AND WARMING YOUR HOUSE, LIVING IN YOUR HOUSE, KEEPING AND GETTING A JOB i THINK NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brian   August 23rd, 2008 7:15 pm ET
Try "setting aside" your feelings of entitlement and anger, and work towards victory. These temper tantrums are immature and stand a greater chance of losing the Democrats the election than McCain.
steve dumford, Scotts valley ca.   August 23rd, 2008 7:14 pm ET
This arrogant fool has sealed it with millions of Hillary supporters. Releasing his choice at 3AM by text message is a direct slap at Hillary. Not only did this clown not even consider her, he decided to make his pick known in a sarcastic, mean spirited way. Totally unnecessary. How dumb can you get? This is the guy that wants to be President? Give me a break. I'm voting for Mccain.
Ron W.   August 23rd, 2008 7:13 pm ET
Her supporters SHOULD be outraged. It's not like he ran away with the nomination. He BARELY squeaked by into the nomination and then decides to snub the other candidate who garnered within 1% as many popular votes as he did? It's a big gamble. Even for someone as arrogant as Obama.
BobVB   August 23rd, 2008 7:13 pm ET
Its amazing – are all the residual PUMAs 7 years old or what?
Charles   August 23rd, 2008 7:12 pm ET
It is clear after reading these comments that a good many of the Hillary supporters are actually Republicans trying to keep this nonsense going.
If Hillary had not taken the dark low road in the primary perhaps she might be the candidate right now or at least might have been under consideration. Really, would you hire the mugger that stole your watch and wallet to be your financial adviser?
Hillnomore   August 23rd, 2008 7:12 pm ET
Originally I wanted Hillary for Pres, then for vp but after seeing how nasty and destructive her supporters (PUMAs) were and how she failed to show leadership & rein them in I can't see how she could be vp and really question whether she should be in government.
She's lost my respect
eahtorod   August 23rd, 2008 7:12 pm ET
Funny, the Clintonistas wanted to "make a show" of thinking about Hillary. One of the many lovely things about Obama is that he doesn't even have the cynicism to "make a show" of doing something he has no intention of doing. That's why he's where he is and Hillary is where she is. What a joy!
Dimitri   August 23rd, 2008 7:12 pm ET
obama just proved to me that he is no John Kennedy. All the obama's voters that dislike Hillary just remember that joe biden said the same thing about obama's inexperience and his inability to be a good president and being amazed that he is so clean and articulate . I 'm a registered democrat but i will switch to independent . i will not vote mc cain i might be staying home and wait for the obambis to win the election without the clinton voters.Also Roland you always said since day one that obama will never pick Hillary . You said it to cafferty and i have the tapes of you saying that. Stop taking us as kids telling us that Senator Clinton was under serious consideration as veep by the obama campaign.She was not. Good luck obama you just hand the election to mccain by letting your ego cloud any common sense of political analysis. it is just sad that every four year Democrats always shouting themselves on the foot.
Advice   August 23rd, 2008 7:12 pm ET
Everyone who supports Hilary and will vote for MCCain should now give her some money to pay her debt . If each of those 18 million give one dollar , that will be 18 million dollars. I will be able to understand their support now .
And next ask themselves if Hilary will cast her vote for Mc Cain in November?
Hillary Fan   August 23rd, 2008 7:12 pm ET
I adore Hillary, but I'm still trying to figure out why her supporters think that Barack needed her input on who he should choose for VP? Give me a break! I'm so sick of her suppoprters throwing out the word disrespect. Please shut up and sit this election out.
Christopher   August 23rd, 2008 7:12 pm ET
Anyone who is ignorant enough to call Obama arrogant for choosing someone who isn't a beltway insider with a husband who carries a ton of political baggage should educate themselves a little more and stop trying to be involved with politics until you do. If you're one of the people acting like an infantile crybaby throwing a tantrum and saying you're going to vote for the other side because you didn't get exactly what you wanted I hope the Republican you vote for wins and stacks the Supreme Court with Conservatives who will strip your Liberties away (beginning with abortion) so you can cry and whine and moan about how politics isn't fair.
In the meantime, stop coming to these sites and proving what an ignoramus you are.
Tim   August 23rd, 2008 7:12 pm ET
Can people in the Clinton "inner circle" really be this arrogant? Disappointment sure but outrage? Seriously? I thought this election was about the future of America and yet Clinton's cronies can only think about themselves. Simply disgusting.
Tonya   August 23rd, 2008 7:12 pm ET
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, you can be here one day and gone the next day my point is why are you Hillary Supporters so worked up on the fact that she wasn't picked fot the V.P and you keep screaming when Obama looses it will give Hillary a chance to run in 4 years you don't know if you would be living in 4 years so why not vote for a true Dem. this year instead of waiting 4 more years IF YOU WANT TO SEE GOD LAUGH THEN TELL HIM YOUR PLANS.
OBAMA/BIDEN "08
Beto   August 23rd, 2008 7:11 pm ET
The Clinton whiners have a choice – Obama/Biden or McCain/Whoever. Both Clinton and Obama went through the process and Obama won. He is the nominee. Now, it is the duty of every Democrat to support Obama/Biden. If they do not, either McCain will be elected or they will find themselves out of the loop for four, possibly eight, years.
About Hilliary's debt. Last I saw, it was about $22M of which $11M is what she owes to herself – that part is hers along. As to the remaining approx $11M, she and Bill can combine their resources and pay it off within a year or two. She knew the risk.
One major reason Obama did not pick Hilliary is Bill. Bill would have somehow ingrained himself in the Obama administration and Obama did not want that.
John   August 23rd, 2008 7:11 pm ET
She was never considered for several reasons: 1. she wants to be there if he falls to say I told you so and then try again in 2012, 2. she brings too many negatives aboard and would galvanize the republican base, 3. Obama's team would have to search through tons of clinton baggage and look at the donors for the Clinton library, 4. she doesn't even want the job!!! You Hillary supporters need to get over it now; she wasn't snubbed. If you care any one bit about what Hillary and her policies stood for then you are absolute fool to vote McCain. Does McCain care about abortion rights? Does McCain care at all for gay rights? Does McCain care to bring the troops home? Does McCain care for equal pay? does mccain care for universal healthcare? NO he doesn't. Wake up and smell the coffee
Molly   August 23rd, 2008 7:11 pm ET
Like Biden – but – I still will NOT vote for obama – he is NOT qualified and is a FRAUD. He should of picked Hillary Clinton – she is the best person to lead our country – guess the obama gang will see that in November when Clinton's 18 Million voters turn out for McCain.
This is yet another slap to Hillary – and her supporters – 3:00AM -
Really??? He could of at least made it look like he thought she was a good choice – his entire campaign is one big staged show – he could of pulled this off – for Unity sake!
Ally   August 23rd, 2008 7:11 pm ET
Hillary will best be known as the one who divided the Democratic Party and gave us 4 more years of Republican rule. Too bad, the Democrats had a good chance of taking back the White House.....
John Proche, Virginia   August 23rd, 2008 7:11 pm ET
I think probably the big problem in selecting Hillary was the lesbian question. The country is just not ready for that yet. If that could have been resolved to everyone's satisfaction, then I think she would be the next vice president. However, now she is finished because Obama if he wins will be president for 8 years and she will be too old, if he loses he will probably be the front runner for 2012. She is totally out of luck, she should have been upfront from the start and addessed the lesbian issue.
Paul   August 23rd, 2008 7:11 pm ET
jenniforhillary   August 23rd, 2008 7:02 pm ET
We are outraged by the DNC's actions. Barrack Hussein Obama is an inexperienced, unvetted, 143 day old Senator with a spotty voting record, highly questionable religious connections, and quite a few criminal friends. He would still be a man lacking everything except the resume of someone who should be investigated by the local, state, and national police force but for the DNC propping up this DIRTY empty shirt. The DNC has shamed itself, and for the first time in my life I am ashamed to be a Democrat. I will be voting Republican this year, straight ticket in fact, to state for the record that I am more than outraged–I have torn up my Democratic membership card and after this year I will only vote Independent and NEVER vote Democrat again. I'm taking my money, my vote, and my America back!
why would you have voted for hillary in the first place?
adding hillary would have been the ultimate cop-out.
uniting the party. false.
do you think someone who is so for change would overlook negative campaigning and general stupidity and go for 4 more years of Clinton?
Obama's "arrogance" is actually intelligence.
idiots.
Why would Barack EVER have considered Hilary?
I'm not a Dem, but one thing I know, the Clintons' in NO WAY would have had his back. If anything, I knife would be in his back. Is Hilary his friend? Is she someone he can trust? Do you go to "bed" with your enemies? Then why should he?
Barack is intelligent, I'm sure. Therefore, he is well aware whom not be bring into his immediate camp. You Hilary loyalist, put your money where your mouth is. Pay off "oh girls" debt, and then sit down and SHUT up. And if you must go with McCain, do so. But just be quiet, respectful, and please go away. Puleeze!!!
johnnytarmac   August 23rd, 2008 6:38 pm ET
Why does Obama need to acquiesce to the very people who would do anything to make him appear weak? Obama is our leader because he is strong, able, and intelligent, so don't think you can intimidate him with your childish threats. Grow up because you'll need to get on board for the next eight years and participate in the politics of inclusiveness.
I'm very dissapointed on Barak choice ,i was considering to vote for him , i was hoping he choose Hillary Clinton , i knew that was the ticket to win the presindency, even if they say she was in ther consideration list i know Obama deep in his heart knows that Hillary
was going to give him him the white House . She would have been a
good VP that at any moment she could run the country along
with a good Advisor Bill Clinton who left America in good financial
standing went he left office , I have not been a big Barack fan but i was willing to support the Democratic ticket now ,even if i did not want 4 more years of Replubican my vote will go to the republican Party.
wish you all the good luck Mr.Obama kiss your White House Dream good buy.
JPFL   August 23rd, 2008 6:32 pm ET
Consider that some of the "18 million" that voted for Clinton were republicans attempting to sabotage the primaries, knowing McCain could beat Hillary.
It's amazing to me that anyone would abandonded their principles and vote for the polar opposite candidate because they are a sore loser.
Ron C   August 23rd, 2008 6:32 pm ET
Why should Hillary be on ballot? I supported her but she lost. Take your ball and go home. Turn back on your party and look forward to 4 more years of Bush policies and arrogance towards our allies.
Clear as day   August 23rd, 2008 6:32 pm ET
Obama is not a puppet of Hillary. She has lost the nomination. Get over it. If it had been the other way around, she would not have taken him as a VP either. In addition, she is still leaving her name on the nomination list for the convention - and she talks about wanting to reunite the party?
Ryan   August 23rd, 2008 6:31 pm ET
What a bunch of cry-babies. Now what are they going to try to do, split the parties vote towards McCain? That'd look swell if she ever ran for office with the democratic party again. Maybe she should start her own party, or better yet just fade into anonymity...
Tonya   August 23rd, 2008 6:30 pm ET
Hillary Clinton fought a good fight, but she lost FAIR AND SQUARE!!! So from where I'm sitting that means no one OWES her anything!!! She ran and SHE LOST, end of story. I'm having a really hard time trying to understand why anyone would be SILLY enough to think she is OWED anything. How RIDICULOUS!!! Its time for this SMALL, MINORITY of people to stop whining like children, grow up, and be honest with themselves. The reason they are not going to vote for Obama has more to do with his skin color that with Hillary. You'll feel a lot better if you just ADMIT IT!!!! STOP using Hillary as an excuse! If you REALLY cared about Hillary Clinton, you would want the party to come together because this silliness doesn't help her, its going to hurt her if she decides to run again. With friends like you, who needs enemies???
On the fence   August 23rd, 2008 6:30 pm ET
As a woman and entrepreneur, I hoped to finally see a woman in the white house - which would have meant a major change, not empty posturing. I am concerned about the environment and savvy enough to know oil drilling is not going to help anyone except oil companies. We need alternate energy and this country has the capital and innovative capabilities to implement it. So both parties lost my vote when they endorsed off shore drilling, which is a major backward move for oil. I'm disappointed because as a baby boomer, I thought our generation was going to make a difference - a real difference – by this point in history. I hope candidates come out more strongly to support alternative energy sources, stand firm to protect what little is left of our precious natural resources and implement Medicare for All - so that citizens of the USA are guaranteed the same quality health care that virtually every other developed country already offers their tax payers. US medical care should be as good as Canada's. Canada has a good system and we can very easily create the same medical system in this country except private insurance companies will fight and lobby like mad to prevent that from ever happening. Wake up folks before it is your own life and welfare being weighed against the insurance profit margin! I wish I had a candidate to vote for in 2008. So far, I'm still on the fence and wish someone had the fortitude to take on big oil, private health insurance and get this country back on track. America is such a great place, but today it is being run by major corporations whose agenda benefits no one in the long run because the quality of life is slipping.
Tom   August 23rd, 2008 6:30 pm ET
To all the PUMA "democrats" and professional hangers-on who were hoping for a cushy job in DC if HRC got the VP nod:
Boo hoo.
Clinton's team of back-biting campaign managers are the ones who took what should have been a winning campaign and turned into a short-sighted quest for personal glory and the promise of a big payday. They're the ones to blame, not Obama. Get over it, already.
Jay Michigan   August 23rd, 2008 6:29 pm ET
As a life-long Democrat, I was really watching the VP choice this year. All me fears and concerns that Obama is not ready for the position, could have been eliminated with a proper vetting of top tier VP candidates. Instead he stuck with the status quo (no change here) by refusing to accept that Hillary garnered as much support as he did. I expected more from a candidate that preaches change and trys to appear so progressive! The party is all about gender bias and I'm no longer a Democrat! I will not vote for this ticket and sadly, I feel good about it.
I have heard through various sources that HRC didn't want to be vetted for VP, because they would have to investigate Clinton's foundation, etc. And neither Clinton wanted that investigated. It sounds logical to me.
William Sprus   August 23rd, 2008 6:29 pm ET
Obama will lose. Hillary will not be to blame. Obama will have to take responsibility himself! NoBama!
Puffy   August 23rd, 2008 6:29 pm ET
Has anyone in the democratic party realized why they haven't had hold of the white house in so long? They can't even get along among themselves, how anyone expect them to bring the whole nation/world together? They had so much potential this year and threw it down the tubes. Voting for McCain just because Hillary didn't get a look at VP? Seriously?
MJ   August 23rd, 2008 6:15 pm ET
What a lazy article. "Some people" is a lazy way to create an article that can't be checked. Didn't you go to journalism school? If your "sources" can't be named, they shouldn't be included in your article.
If the Clintonites vote for McSame, they deserve what they get. Four more years of Bush.
elmo   August 23rd, 2008 6:15 pm ET
it just surprises me that some of you clinton supporters forgets what the republicns have done to this nation & would vote for mccain just for spite? this country is litterally being bought by foreign nations, such as china, just so they can fill the pockets of the already too rich. wise up & think about your children & grandchildren. thanks for letting me comment.-elmo
MTG   August 23rd, 2008 6:15 pm ET
Hillary has been vetted through this entire process and more, so to speak. There was nothing new to be learned by vetting her again as a potential VP Nominee.
Those of you who will do everthing in your power to see that Obama fail are defeating the purpose of why you were supporting the Decomcratic party and Hilary in the first place. Did it ever occur to you that Hillary may at this point have something else in mind for herself like being a Supreme Court Justice. The presidency is for 8 years. Being appointed as a Judge is for a lifetime. I think she has made herself a sweet deal on side for something else, because she does not seem unhappy, it is just you Hillary-ites that just can't let go. She seems to have.
Jack Kao   August 23rd, 2008 6:15 pm ET
I am not going to vote for Obama.
He has lost the chance to get Clintons' Supporters.
I am going to vote for Green Party candidate.
speerbaby   August 23rd, 2008 6:11 pm ET
let's see here.....
You're going to decline to support HIllary's party in favor of the man who comes back from 'nam, cheats on his wife, then divorces her for the 21 year old rich woman?
Because Obama isn't respectful to women's right?
Riiiiiight. I'm buying that. But I do have this bridge in Brooklyn to unload. Interested?
davidbcoe   August 23rd, 2008 6:03 pm ET
Hillary Clinton and her supporters demanded that her name be placed in nomination at the Democratic National Convention. Obama agreed. Clinton's supporters can't have it both ways. If she and her supporters still consider her an active candidate for President of the United States she can't be Obama's pick to be his Vice Presidential nominee. It would be presumptuous of him to ask her and it is presumptuous of her supporters to believe that she can be actively pursuing both offices.
Ilona Hussein Proud Canadian   August 23rd, 2008 5:59 pm ET
PLEASE TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE HILLARY CLINTON 18 MILLION SUPPORTERS?
SINCE WHEN DOES THE PRESUMPTIVE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE HAVE To SEEK OUT ADVICE FROM THE LOSER, SINCE WHEN DOES HE HAVE TO SEEK OUT ADVICE FROM PAST PRESIDENTS?
When was this WRITTEN IN TO DEMOCRATIC POLICIES?
You know, people are talking about this being a HISTORIC PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION, and they are pointing to the AFRICAN/AMERICAN AND A WOMAN in the running reasons, but I think that there is another reason that this should GO DOWN IN THE HISTORY BOOKS.
This is, as far as I CAN REMEMBER, THE ONLY PRES. ELECTION, where many SUPPORTERS of a PREVIOUS CANDIDATE are attempting to HOLD THEIR COUNTRY FOR RANSOM.
I REALLY HOPE, that yes, this all goes down in the HISTORY BOOKS, but I would like to see ALL OF THE ISSUES DOCUMENTED, including the FACT that the PRES. NOMINEE is told that HE/SHE SHOULD HAVE ASKED one of the losing candidates, and past Presidents for advice ON PICKING HIS VICE PRESIDENT running mate!
If this was not so shallow and obvious, it would be FUNNY but FUNNY IT IS NOT!
When are Sen. Clinton's die hard supporters going to get over this and STOP HOLDING AMERICA FOR RANSOM?
By the way, have THEY PAID OFF HER DEBT YET?
Kennedy   August 23rd, 2008 5:54 pm ET
Not Hillary is entitled to get a spot on the ballot, we, the 18 mio voters who made her our #1 choice for president, are entitled to see her name there.
Of course I will be fine even after Mr. Obama slammed me into my face. And each of the other 18 mio Hillary friends will be fine too. But will Mr. Obama be fine after the election?
We do not need Mr. Obama. But Mr. Obama needs us.
Des Moines   August 23rd, 2008 5:54 pm ET
I'm sick of hearing about 18 million people who voted for Hillary.
12 million of them will vote for Obama, the rest are bigots.
As far as her help with her campaign debt? 2 or 3 months of Bill's speeches should take care of that.
Your shrill harpy lost the race. Her winning would be Sean Hannity's wet dream and the only way the Democrats could lose in the fall.
Confused in Connecticut   August 23rd, 2008 5:54 pm ET
MT, so you are going to allow your immature and childish bitterness over Hillary's loss to subject our country to four more years of what we're going through? You wish to have another four years of economic hardship, foreign policy blunders, and overall governmental tomfoolery?
I just cannot wrap my brain around the juvenile behavior of these rouge Clinton supporters. As another poster mentioned, she lost in a democratic process. That's what elections are. I too had campaigned for Ms. Clinton, but now, for the good of the country, I am going to swallow my pride, and do what's best for this country, and the generations which will follow mine.
To the others who had supported Hillary. Please, understand this is not a Student Council election in High School. There is too much at stake for immaturity and bitterness to ruin the best chance we have at bringing about change in America.
Please do the right thing, folks.
OBAMA-BIDEN '08
Alain   August 23rd, 2008 5:54 pm ET
I think that a Obama/Hillary ticket had all the chances of winning . Now it is doubtful.
John   August 23rd, 2008 5:53 pm ET
Putting it simply – I am outraged by Obama's actions!
Dee   August 23rd, 2008 5:53 pm ET
Get over it, Hillary supporters. You can't be too bright to go over to McCain because you didn't get your way. Do you really want another 4 years of the Republican party with their 7 plus houses? Do you think you and your family will be better off if you cut your noses off to spite your faces and support McCain? I was in a minority in my state to be against Bush, BUT I WAS RIGHT! The way things are now, with our country paying for a war that should not have been waged, gas prices through the roof because Rebpulicans are in bed with the oil industry and the housing industry in the toilet because Republicans let the lending institutions perpetrate fraud on the American people, I WISH I HAD BEEN WRONG.
martie   August 23rd, 2008 5:53 pm ET
I think you all need to stop this nonsense! Joe Biden is a good pick, even Hillary said so! Let's move on, its time for the public, especially the journalists and pundits to stop this nonsense about "Hillary's supporters" being upset about the pick. This is not Hillary's campaign! She or her "supporters" have to stop acting like they are entitled to ANYTHING! Lets move on!
David   August 23rd, 2008 5:53 pm ET
I'm a Hillary supporter. I'm also a male supporter of P.U.M.A. I will write in for Hillary and do everything in my power to see that Obama loses. I don't like McCain, but in 2012, Hillary will be the Democratic nominee for President of the United States.
In your face, Obama.
Gloria   August 23rd, 2008 5:53 pm ET
It's unfortunate that a trainee is in the number one spot while the person with experience and credentials is getting the number two spot. Biden should be running for President while Obama is still getting his ears wet.
Matt   August 23rd, 2008 5:53 pm ET
So what they are saying Obama should have wasted time and money to appease a bunch of sore losers who can't grow up? Yea, that makes sence. (sarcasm)
jeff - Dallas   August 23rd, 2008 5:53 pm ET
Look, the primaries are over. Clinton's camp needs to bury the hatchet and allow the Obama/Biden ticket to proceed.
Ted   August 23rd, 2008 5:53 pm ET
It is mystifying why some Hillary supporters continue to say they will vote for McCain rather than Obama. A vote for McCain is a vote against the very positions supported by Hillary, which are presumably the reasons why these people supported her in the first place. How is it in either your own best interests or the best interests of the country to vote for policies you believe to be detrimental to us all?
Biden is a brilliant choice by Obama and should help unify and galvanize the party. It is time for all democrats to demonstrate the maturity needed to get behind the ticket and bring an end to the disastrous policies of the Bush administration that would only be continued by McCain.
Alex   August 23rd, 2008 5:53 pm ET
I would like to name a few points:
#1 Barack Obama is not the democratic nominee until he accepts his nomination; you never know what will happen between now and next thursday.
#2 Bill Clinton was one of the best Presidents that the US ever had. Think about economic surplus and Hillary's constant fight for health care.
#3 How dare Obama voters tell Hillary Voters to "grow up" when we have a right to vote for whomever we choose. Barack Obama is NOT the democratic nominee (see point #1)
#4 Those who are voting for John McCain has their own reason. Everyone is different. Everyone has different opinions. We democrats do not vote for democrats, but vote for whomever we feel that will be the best interest of our party.
#5 Those who are telling Hillary Clinton to move on, well, she has moved on. She's been campaigning vigorously for Senator Obama. It is her supporters that are reluctant to vote for Senator Obama. If John McCain chooses Mitt Romney as his VP, he'll definitely get my family's vote for sure because we thought Mitt would have been a great President. These are choices.
People have choices. No one is a democrat or a republican. Everyone votes for whomever they "like" best to run the country. We Hillary Clinton Supporters believe that Senator Hillary Clinton is the best fit for the job and is upset that Senator Obama didn't choose her to be someone who can take the #2 spot. We are all disappointed, but now we have a choice to vote between Obama and McCain. Plain and Simple.
CM from Miami   August 23rd, 2008 5:53 pm ET
Give me a break people.
It is a loose-loose situation, if he doesn't make her a huge part in his decision, then you call him arrogant, but if he did make her a huge part then you would have said he's not ready to lead because he can't make a decision on his own.
The idea that you would put this country and your family's well being in jeopardy for another 4 years by voting for McCain with the hope that Hilary will run again in 2012 is insane.
This election is our last chance to fix this country. If you vote for McCain there will be no coming back. The US will become a Third World economy.
Avani   August 23rd, 2008 5:53 pm ET
Oh boo hoo....The Billaries need to get over it. Hillary handled herself and her campaign so poorly. Going in debt after having a quarter of a billion dollars. Shame on her and her campaign. The American people don't want a person like that as a potential president!!!
Steve   August 23rd, 2008 5:53 pm ET
Nothing short of making Hillary Clinton the President will ever satisfy the vindictive and whining fanatics who worship her like some kind of cult leader. It's past time for Obama to stop coddling her and her sleazy, petulant, egomaniacal adulterer of a husband. They ran an incompetent campaign, and she lost. The fanatics can either get over it or vote their rights into oblivion. But they can stop prancing around and demanding that everyone constant kiss their rears.
trent   August 23rd, 2008 5:53 pm ET
Are you kidding me? I just cant believe that any Clinton supporter, any person who believes in the democratic party, any person who has been fed up with the way the country has been run for the past 8 years, would be so silly and ignorant as to actually vote for any one else besides Senator Obama. Is Senator Clinton mad that she was not chosen as the nominee? Sure she is. Is she mad that she was not chosen as the vice presidential nominee? Perhaps. But I have a really good guess as to what her vote is going to be come November... Obama/Biden. Because she still has values.
Chris Freeman   August 23rd, 2008 5:48 pm ET
Hillary backers STOP WHINING, you were not snubbed! These 2 candidates share virtually ALL OF THE SAME POLICY BELIEFS!
If you can't get behind Barack, you weren't serious about Hillary.....You just wanted a trophy president!
DJ   August 23rd, 2008 5:48 pm ET
Sheesh are all these hillary supporters blind and dumb? They would vote for someone who is in total contradiction to Hillary's beliefs, just out of spite and vengeance? I really do feel bad for people like that. I just want Hillary to get back to her job as my senator, she's been pretty awful doing her job here. I've also had Mccain as my senator when i lived in arizona, and arizona was an open border and full of corruption during my time there. i'd never vote for either of the two because they do not do anything to improve my socio-economic status.
Hillary supporter for Obama   August 23rd, 2008 5:46 pm ET
If Obama loses in 2008, it will now be blamed on Hillary and she won't have a chance for President. Ever.
Not only that, but if you want to see Hillary Clinton able to implement any change in the senate, it will NEVER HAPPEN with a McCain presidency. Do you care about her policies? Do you care about the changes she wants to make? If you do, you'll support the Obama/Biden ticket as I do. If you'd rather have 4 more years of what we've had for the last 8, then why would you vote for Clinton in the first place?
Realistic   August 23rd, 2008 5:45 pm ET
There is no evidence that Hillary herself is anything like outraged, and in fact is probably relieved that she was not asked to serve at a position where historically the primary task has been to play golf and welcome minor dignitaries. The VP slot would have been a terrible and tedious waste of Hillary's talents.
On the other side, nobody would want a running mate who was $30 million in campaign debt, and who would more energize the opposition than her relatively few remaining supporters who have not already switched to Barack.
This is a lot more about a few hardcore Hillary supporters being carved out of the political process because they backed the wrong horse, than about Hillary who herself seems very pleased at Barack's choice.
Butch   August 23rd, 2008 5:45 pm ET
Big Deal...If she ever wins the nomination she can select her own running mate. She has no say with Obama.
Jim   August 23rd, 2008 5:45 pm ET
If Dems lose this election based on the PUMAs work to destroy the party, you can bet the farm that Hillary will NEVER be President. Not in 2012, 2016 or any year. Your idol Hillary will be exiled and marginalized forever. The *real* Dems who are working to unite the party will never in a million years back Hillary after these stunts. Guaranteed. Another qualified woman nominee? Yes. Hillary and her PUMA losers? Not.
This from someone who used to like the Clintons.
RufusVonDufus   August 23rd, 2008 5:44 pm ET
Awwwwwwwwwww, poooooooooooooooooooor baaaaaaaaaaaaaby!
Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
Why don't all you sniveling prudish and arrogant women crying over your Hillary realize that she and her hubby Billybob ruined any chance she ever had of being POTUS or VP during the campaign. They both proved themselves to be like little kids who would take their ball and go home. Now why don't all of you just go home?
McCain in '08 will be a no brainer!
JennyM   August 23rd, 2008 5:37 pm ET
CNN - Enough already. We don't care what Hillary thinks or her supporters. Hillary ran a campaign that was a disaster and is currently 25 million in debt. I would not let her run a dog show.
TONY   August 23rd, 2008 5:36 pm ET
Denise (Brooklyn, New York)   August 23rd, 2008 5:36 pm ET
(cont.)
Not to mention the fact that Biden only received 5,000 votes and Clinton 18 million. So who out IS LISTENING TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE? Surely not the Democratic Party. Wake up America and stop letting the DNC and the media brainwash you, Obama is still only the presumptive nominee. If Obama and Biden are officially nominated and further elected, next year this time, Obama supporters will be kicking themselves.
Tom, ALBUQUERQUE, NM   August 23rd, 2008 5:36 pm ET
This is one democrat who will be voting for John McCain. I encourage all Hillary supporters to cast their vote for McCain. To Hell with Obama and Biden, PUMA....
Paul   August 23rd, 2008 5:36 pm ET
Dear Hillary supporters,
All of you who now say you'll vote for McCain are insane. Hillary's positions and Obama's positions are within 3% of each other. McCain is miles away from your political beliefs. Now, if you go ahead and support McCain just because you're upset about Hillary's loss, you're dooming the country to more of the same bad policies we've had for the past 8 years. If you don't mind that being on your conscience, then there's no hope for you.
Peter of Oregon   August 23rd, 2008 5:36 pm ET
I thought she's putting her name into contention for the Democratic Nomination for President of the United States? Why then should the very same "supporters" who pushed for her nomination at the Denver convention be outraged at Obama not picking her to be his Vice President?
Your logic is as childish as your outrage throughout this campaign.
CurlyJoe   August 23rd, 2008 5:36 pm ET
"While I attempt to teach my children about trying to do their best in an honest and sportsman-like manner, and to be a gracious loser, all they see and hear are the supporters of Senator Clinton ranting like the spoiled children I tell my kids to ignore and pity on the playground. "
Honest sportsman like manner? gracious losers? In politics?? Let's be honest with our kids and let them know that these people all self self serving – no matter what party. What I would tell my kids is that politicians are like the playground bully – no self-worth and usually some dark side that makes them the disturbed sociopaths they truly are. And let's not be naive saying "remember the good old days" – check history, you could probably count on one had the number of honest politicians we've ever had.
I do commend your effort to explain this nonsense to your children – it's a tough job!
Johnny the Boy   August 23rd, 2008 5:36 pm ET
I met Biden on the train to DC a couple of times, he is as arrogant as Obama the Logo President candidate.
All my friends who were voting for Obama have jumped ship to McCain.
Donna Dowling   August 23rd, 2008 5:36 pm ET
As a 61 year old woman, I am so glad Clinton is not on the ticket. Enough with those two. If her suporters are so closed minded that they would let McCain become our next president, they get what they deserve. Four more years of the same old thing.
RJ   August 23rd, 2008 5:36 pm ET
I am outraged as to how the Obama Camp informed people of their choice for VP. A text message...Come on people. Is that how he is going to conduct politics. That sounds like teenagers having conversations. Hillary Clinton had the support of over 18 million voters. Their votes were shunned by the whole election process. Americans have no say so in who is elected to office. If everyones votes in Michigan and Florida Hillary would be choosing her VP this weekend. Its a sad state of affiars to say the least.
Michael J   August 23rd, 2008 5:36 pm ET
I didn't expect Obama to name Hillary as his VP, but to not even consider her is a bad move.
Whatever happens now, the Dem Convention is going to make good TV, wake up and smell the chaos people!
Geoffrey Sperl   August 23rd, 2008 5:36 pm ET
As CM said: "Hillary will have a pretty prominent position in Obama's cabinet."
I agree. Health and Human Services, I suspect. And I think that will put her in a position to better champion her causes than being VP would.
Turning to the Right   August 23rd, 2008 5:35 pm ET
Biden didn't want to see Obama get the nomination in the first place...
Neither did I.
By Biden accepting the spot on the ticket, he betrayed what he said initially. Obama is certainly too inexperienced and should he be elected this inexperience will show. His empty rhetoric from the beginning turned me away from supporting him. Hopefully everyone else will see that he is willing to say whatever people want to hear, but he truly has no clue what he's doing.
I hope we don't end up with the Democratic version of GWB as President. God help us all if he gets elected.
Karen   August 23rd, 2008 5:35 pm ET
Why should Obama have to permission from a former first lady concerning who he chooses as his running mate? Sour grapes.
lost my vote   August 23rd, 2008 5:35 pm ET
well, that did it. i will not vote in the presidential election this time. i refuse to support either one. as an independent, i have leaned hillary and obamas direction, but this move from obama finished that. It will be an interesting election. As an educated white woman, i refuse to be a part of this. McCain will win and the country will continue to go nowhere.
Rick Browne   August 23rd, 2008 5:35 pm ET
Wake up Hillary supporters, it wasn't Obama that sealed her fate of not being asked to be VP. It was Bill Clinton's utter refusal to have his finances vetted, especially his payments for speaches in the last few years, and more importantly his "secret contributors" to his Presidential library.
Do your homework and stop whining, Hillary didn't ask for the nomination when she met with him at Diane Feinstein's home, telling him Bill would never agree to be vetted.
Bill Clinton, through his racist words, his arrogance, and his refusal to divulge his secret funding sources, took the nomination from Hillary. NOT Barrack Obama.
If you don't believe this just wait – it will all come out in the media after the election. Sorry, but those are the facts.
Sick of it   August 23rd, 2008 5:35 pm ET
This is exactly why the Republicans have so effectively and so completely commanded the government in this country for so long. They too are a fractious group with multiple agendas, but have the better common sense to realize they stand a better chance of coming closer to their goals by solidly aligning behind the Republican candidates. Democrats are too foolish to realize that, regardless of your differences with the nominated Democratic candidates, they would be far better off supporting them than not voting or by voting for the Republican. They don't register "non-votes" or "protest votes", so no one ever know your petty motivations. They will only know we have another Republican in power. One who will stock the Supreme Court over the next four years with the likes of Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. When your basic civil liberties are overturned by the new court and the executive branch is given carte blanche to spy on all of us and dictate our private lives, I hope you "protest" voters will be sitting happily and smugly at home knowing you "got" Obama for daring to be a politician and for daring to out-campaign Hillary. I was a Hillary supporter and voted for her in my primary, but I'm ashamed and disgusted by you PUMA pretenders.
johnson   August 23rd, 2008 5:22 pm ET
Stephan B – I think some of the ill will started when Hillary's IA Campaign co-chair was forced to resign for spreading the phony Obama Muslim email...or when her NH co-chair was forced to resign when he started to talk about Obama's using drugs in high-school....or when Ferraro was reprimanded by accusing Obama of being "sexist" (one of the more hilarious accusations). Here's the deal – Hillary ran one of the most negative, fear based primary campaigns on the Dem side, in recent memory. Its almost like a Greek tradgedy – when the powerful, old-guard establishment gets challenged by a young, inclusive movement, the establishment lashes out as Hillary's camp did. The problem is, they supposedly had the top Dem political operatives in the country, yet couldn't punch their way out of a paper box – they got hammered at the most basic of primary campaigning – things like not preparing for the caucuses, running a campaign based on entitlement....those are the things that cost her the nomination. She is owed NOTHING.
Bonnie NYC   August 23rd, 2008 5:20 pm ET
Hillary Clinotn did everything she could to discredit Obama during the campaign including "I don't think he's a muslim as far as I know" and the white working people's comment. She didn't deserve any more than what she got because she was a sore loser and so are SOME of her rabid followers. I guess some people don't remember all the unsavory acts she committed the last time she occupied the White House. She is completeing lacking in integrity and unfuit to be president of anything.
mark   August 23rd, 2008 5:17 pm ET
OMG!!!!!! This is ridiculous...it is not possible that there are 18 million Americans that are as crazy and foolish as the few Clinton freaks that will not be happy no matter what anyone does ever. They are mad and vindictive and clearly not thinking about anything other than payback. Someone should tell then that they are only hurting themselves...no one cares...so shut up!
jj   August 23rd, 2008 5:17 pm ET
Cmon how is Obama gonna bring in someone that just threw him under the bus a few short months ago! The republicans would have a field day with that one. Cmon ladies wake up!
josie   August 23rd, 2008 5:17 pm ET
I will vote third party. Neither Obama or McCain are addressing the issues. The council on foreign relations is in charge of the country yet the majority have no clue what they are. They are neocons who will push the war machine until this economy is tanked. And in the end other countries will own us. Look what is happening.
Everyone should be with a third party candidate to show the two big parties that we are NOT thrilled with what is happening.
lou   August 23rd, 2008 5:17 pm ET
Biden is a fair choice to cover Obama's weaknesses. Still don't know if it is prudent to vote for him due to his inexperience. This decision will affect the future of our country and possibly our very lives. Folks, we need to elect a leader not a prom king. Think carefully !!!!
Susan McClintic   August 23rd, 2008 5:17 pm ET
Maybe McCain should consider Hillary as his VP choice.
donna   August 23rd, 2008 5:17 pm ET
These so-called Clinton supporters are so ridiculus.
With all the things she said about Obama during the Dem's primary the McCain campaign would have had material for every day up to election.
Read theHoward Fineman article in Newsweek that says she did not want or expect to be VP because Bill would not let his financial records be vetted.
In any event she had been thoroughly vetted by the Obama campaign in the primary.
Stop whining and being so bitter-PUMAS -if that's who you really are.
Neutralizer   August 23rd, 2008 5:17 pm ET
Lets SIMPLIFY this, IF Obambi is the official nominee of the Dems after their convention next week in Denver, this is the BIGGEST LOSS for the Democratic Party, another McGovern scenario. The Dems are TOTALLY INSANE!
DOING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN HOPING TO GET A DIFFERENT RESULT!!
For 40 FREAKING YEARS, Dems occupy the Whitehouse ONLY three times, twice with Bill Clinton and one with Carter.
The Democratic Party STILL REFUSE to admit the UNIVERSE governance is CONSERVATIVE, there are MORE JACKSONIANS in this country than ACADEMIANS.
JWR4Obama   August 23rd, 2008 5:16 pm ET
Anyone who is in the "I will never vote for Obama because my girl Hilliary didn't get it" needs to let go of their anger that a white woman didn't get the nomination and look at the bigger picture.
What scares me more is that people wanted a woman so desperately to win they don't care who it was or even which party she was for, they would jeopardize their principles and party standing to help elect Exxon John just for the glimmer of hope she can get elected in 2012. Add to that Clinton is dragging this out even further by making sure they acknolwedge her at the convention is almost proof positive that not matter what comes out of her mouth this action clearly states "We'll show em in 2012 girls!"
That is the saddest thing I've heard in a long time...
Hillary Supporter   August 23rd, 2008 5:16 pm ET
I am shocked. OBAMA is going to distry this party.
McCain 08.
Irma   August 23rd, 2008 5:16 pm ET
For the first time in my life as a Democrat (34 years of voting)
I will vote REPUBLICAN for President and Democrat for everything
else.
Bob Loblaw   August 23rd, 2008 5:16 pm ET
Good lord – what are you people smoking? You'd rather have the Republicans win the election than the Democrats – out of spite? Take a step back and look at the bigger picture!
Hillary is not the nominee. Suck it up, and move on. This isn't about Obama vs. Hillary any more – it's about where you want this country to go.
Travis, CT   August 23rd, 2008 5:16 pm ET
@ Stephan- I wouldn't put much stock in the 18 million vote number people are throwing around. Long after McCain wrapped up the Republican nomination, there were still open primaries going on for the Democrats. So it is a little hard to imagine that the same 18 million who voted for her during the primaries would vote the same in November. The fact that she is getting called up for nomination is the reason why she is not going to be the VP. Instead of dropping it like the other candidates, she had to get herself in, front and center. Oh, and by the way, Hillary supported the plan to neglect Florida and Michigan until it was no longer convenient for her as well. Leaving the presidential box blank is neglecting your responsibility to have your values and stances on issues represented as a citizen. If you don't vote for the one who is closest to Hillary on these issues, you will have absolutely no right to complain if he loses and more of our brave men and women are killed, our economy hits rock bottom, and gas becomes so expensive that you have to sacrifice your first born child just to get it.
Dave G   August 23rd, 2008 5:16 pm ET
How do we know if Obama called her or not?
What if Clinton told him early on she wasn't interested in being VP?
We have no idea what's happening behind closed doors or over private phone lines. I think it's wrong for CNN to get involved in this kind of speculation.
CM   August 23rd, 2008 5:16 pm ET
HRC doesn't have 18 million voters anymore. This isn't the primaries, this is the real thing. Most of the 18 million are in Obama's camp now. Also Obama got more than 18 million votes and the majority of those people didn't want HRC either.
Hillary will have a pretty prominent position in Obama's cabinet.
Erick Vargas   August 23rd, 2008 5:15 pm ET
Here is the problem with picking Hillary as a Vp
She's a a good considiration,but we all know,she wanted to be president,and even after she lost ,she still wants to be president,when she was campaigning for Obama,she still wanted to be president.
Imaging the convention with a Obama hillary ticket,on one side,The obama supporters,in the middle the usual democrats,but there in the corner is the small Die hard Hillary fans,that believe she has to be president.I mean i'll be civil war there,the Obama supporters saying"Get over it she lost",then the hillary supporters screaming"she won,i mean she's hillary clinton"then the poor people caught in the middle Saying"can't we all just get along,And the fat old republicans and John bush maccain still doesn't know how many houses they own.
Joe biden not only beats maccain in expirience by 10 years,he covers all of obama's weaknesses,and adds many vital qualities.The man is a Foreign policy powehouse.
Obama is the new guy,that has a plan
Obama is change
Obama is the future
Obama is the next president
Not hillary
Not maccain{by that I mean a Clone of Bush that was created by Bush himself and his pack of oil rich fat guys]
OBAMA 08
for those dumb people who believe republicans like bush is the kind of people we need,i'll spell it out for You
O-B-A-M-A 0-8
P-R-E-S-I-D-E-N-T O-B-A-M-A
ps:i'm 16 years old,and yes i do understand politics
Disagree with me,well bring it on
ozzievoodoo   August 23rd, 2008 5:15 pm ET
Those people need to get over it and move one. Who in there right mind would want Hillary and all that baggage she has around her neck.
Lady   August 23rd, 2008 5:15 pm ET
It's time to get over the primaries. Obama has made a wise choice in Biden. This does not diminish others who were considered, it is simply his choice. To re-vet Hillary Clinton was not necessary. She has been vetted for years and has stood up well to close examination. Choosing Joe Biden does not mean that that Hillary is not respected. If you support the values of the democratic party you will do as Hillary does and support this amazing ticket.
Skeeve   August 23rd, 2008 5:14 pm ET
I am sorry to say it but the reaction of Clinton's supporters and some people here seriously reminds me behavior of a 13 year-old teenager who was not allowed to go for a party – pouting and tantrums.
Grow up people, grow up. The World is laughing.
Sherry for Obama   August 23rd, 2008 5:14 pm ET
We all need to come together and vote whats best for America and you know its to vote domocrat.
Obama for the heaking of our great nation.
No to more of Bush....No to McCain!!!!!!
Lisa   August 23rd, 2008 5:14 pm ET
I cannot stand Obama, this is a slap in the face to her supporters, Hillary, Bill and everyone else that wanted to unite the party. I just purchased my ticket to Denver to protest the nomination. I hope that Hillary's delegates make the convention a living nightmare for Obama and his team. He does not care about the American people all he cared about is himself. Obamee is his name, it's all about him. I'm so glad that most of the bloggers are upset with this choice.
Osama/Bidenladen 08 will not win in November!!! I can't wait until he lose . I don't like Mccain either, so I'm voting for Cynthia McKinney!!
J.Abrams   August 23rd, 2008 5:13 pm ET
I will be voting for McCain.
Obama has not earned my vote, and I will not simply give it to him because we are fellow Dems. Inexperience and constants flip-flopping - to say nothing of outright insulting Clinton - does not earn votes, only anger.
Obama is arrogantly misjudging the resentment he has caused.
Matt   August 23rd, 2008 5:12 pm ET
So what? The PUMAs already weren't gonna vote for him. Now they're really, really not gonna vote for him? Who cares? Why give them any consideration whatsoever when all they've done is insist they're staying home or voting McCain anyway? Obama will win with or without them.
John   August 23rd, 2008 5:12 pm ET
I cannnot believe the hubris of the hillary supportersr. She LOST! Move on.
Chris Richey   August 23rd, 2008 5:12 pm ET
I am outraged there wasn't more consideration for Senator Clinton. I supported her in the primaries, was a delagate for her at my county convention and argued fervently for her any chance I got. I understand that the VP choice is the Presidential nominee's, but let's get real, this primary was close, infact, you might say almost a tie and to snub Clinton and not even make the facade that you vetted her or asked for her input is to make those 18 million votes seem unimportant. For him to keep believing eventually the Clinton supporters will jump on the bandwagon without him actually trying to bridge that gap himself and make an effort is careless and way overconfident. I will not vote for McCain but Obama will be lucky if I even think of convincing anyone to vote for him until he recognizes the importance of Senator Clinton's historic candicacy and her 18 million voters.
Ben   August 23rd, 2008 5:10 pm ET
Well, they made their position clear...
doubletalkexpress   August 23rd, 2008 5:08 pm ET
This is such a non story. The truth is that this "outrage" is few and far between. This is just another attempt by the msm to keep the false since of division between democrats alive. Now bring on all the GOP trolls and their PUMA posts. I wish every one who believes this is an issue would do a little research on PUMA so they could see how insignificant they are.
Isn't it worse to have been heavily vetted and then found out your not good enough or not the type of person someone would want as a VP? I think everyone in Obama's campaign has been very respectful to Hillary's feelings in their talk about the VP slot.
Move on...
RobWA   August 23rd, 2008 5:08 pm ET
LMAO!! This "Whaaaaaa" behavior is the BEST reason to NOT pick Hillary. I really wish she would tell these whiners to LET IT GO. For her own future as a potential cabinet member for Obama she NEEDS TO.
Wanting Change   August 23rd, 2008 5:08 pm ET
The Clintons and their supporters need to get over themselves!!!
SHE LOST!!! THE END!!!
He doesn't need her advice and doesn't owe anything to her!!
Not to mention that had he gone out of his way to appease these people, he would have been criticized for that as well!!
The truth is, some people just aren't going to vote for him and they should stop trying to blame him for it!! He will never be good enough for some people and he will just win without them!!
Rob   August 23rd, 2008 5:08 pm ET
Let it go, Hillary. Let it go.
Bottom line, there was no chance she was going to be VP, so why "make a show of it?" That would have been a waste of everyone's time. Obama made a smart choice. He doesn't need the Clinton's blessing for everything he does. Sheesh.
Kurt   August 23rd, 2008 5:08 pm ET
If this was somehow a surprise to you, your an idiot. If you somehow don't understand why he couldn't pick Hilary, your really not smart enough to be voting anyway.
Neil   August 23rd, 2008 5:08 pm ET
wahhh, wahhh, wahhh!
Sorry Hillary, you lost, and he won. End of story.
Lori, Houston Texas   August 23rd, 2008 5:08 pm ET
PUMAs need to get over it. The Clinton ship has sailed. Now you have to decide, "do I do what's best for America or do I spite my country because I am bitter over the result?" Your decision will show what kind of person you really are. I suggest you suck it up and join us in making American great again. You owe your allegence to your country, not a person. After all, isn't that what we've been complaining about these last 7 1/2 years?
Bob S.   August 23rd, 2008 5:07 pm ET
But did Hillary really want #2?? She said nothing to indicate she'd take it. And, her supporters all yelled about NOT taking the #2 spot when Obama defeated her. What's this all about?
Are Clinton's supporters playing the "hurt little ones" now? And, consider her attacks on Obama during the primary. Good grief, she would have made a fine "attack dog" for the GOP! McCain's people loved her for that...and now her supporters are hurt???
Awwwwwww.....
And here we thought she was bigger than that. This is a disappointment!
RSH
Jed   August 23rd, 2008 5:07 pm ET
How about this, for every hissy fit they have, they should send Clinton a dollar..... debt solved.
Stephan Berberick   August 23rd, 2008 5:05 pm ET
If Barack can so easily disregard Hillary, someone who has 18,000,000 votes to her name... What is he going to do the people (the rest of us) that only have one?
Considering that her name is now getting called up for nomination in Denver, he should have thought a bit harder about his timing. Unity? He may have just tossed the baby out with the bath water. I can almost see this turning into a slug fest, something the Republicans are sure to poke and prod at come November.
My personal favorite? Only supporting half votes for Florida and half votes for Michigan when it was learned it would almost certainly cost her the election and NOW pushing to get full votes for both states at the convention when it suits and favors him? Does he forget we have good memories?
Good luck in November, Barack. I hope you win but you won't get MY vote. I'll still vote on my state and local issues and candidates but the preisdental box? I might leave that one blank for the first time ever...
Sincerely,
one of the 18,000,000 people.
Winston   August 23rd, 2008 5:05 pm ET
Seriouly this is has gotten old. I honestly believe that some of these Clinton 'supporters' are either closet republicans trying to sabotage the election or democrats desperate for attention.
They need to put their bruised egos aside and fall in line or vote McCain. Just remember that Obama has 18 million supporters as well and if you cost us this election. We surely won't forget in 4yrs when your high and might Hillary runs again. Do you really believe that after costing us an election and hurting the country we will support your candidate in 4yrs?
Dream on! Time to grow up and move on. These people have been cuddled enough- time for some tough love!
Bernie Moore-Knowles   August 23rd, 2008 5:05 pm ET
Sounds like both Clintons are sleeping in the bed that they made for themselves. They honestly thought that they owned the Democratic Party, didn't they? They burned the first bridge by their unethical treatment of Obama during the primaries and now?
In your face, Bill and Hillary Clinton. In your face.
Outrage? You and your supporters are outraged? I think Begala and Carville need to shut their faces.
As an educated, professional woman , still working 60 hours a week at age 70, and a Democrat for 25 years, I feel disenfranchised and insulted by Obama's ignoring and snubbing Senator Clinton. The issues on the table are healthcare and the economy and then national security. I have lost total faith in a man who I believed would be a bright shining star. He is, after all, a politician and one who must be intimidated by the senator from New York. He's lost my vote.
Obama = ARROGANCE
Speider   August 23rd, 2008 5:05 pm ET
I am so tired of the people who believe in their ultimate entitlement in this country. The democratic process went through the proper steps and there was, as always is in any competition, a winner and someone (or people in this case) who did not win.
While I attempt to teach my children about trying to do their best in an honest and sportsman-like manner, and to be a gracious loser, all they see and hear are the supporters of Senator Clinton ranting like the spoiled children I tell my kids to ignore and pity on the playground. Perhaps it is time we fail and fall behind as a world nation and let someone else take the helm while we sort out just what it is that makes us feel so strongly entitled to take our ball and go home when we are not picked for the best side of kickball.
If the Clintons are now considered to be the top advisers of what is right in politics, then someone has conveniently forgotten recent history. It was a history of lies, scandals, more lies, and self-serving behavior.
Mark   August 23rd, 2008 5:05 pm ET
Why should she be under consideration? Just because she was the first runner-up?
She spent much of her campaign actively trying to destroy his campaign. She wasn't snubbed, she made the gamble that, if she lost, that was it. He picked a guy he felt gave her a chance to win over someone who divided the party.
MT   August 23rd, 2008 5:04 pm ET
I am one of those Clinton supporters that is mad. I will be hitting the trail now for McCain. They could have even considered her – he snubbed the 18 million that voted for her.
Nate Hussein   August 23rd, 2008 5:04 pm ET
Why does it ALWAYS have to be about the Clinton's? Get over it...!
Bitter Allen Hussein, Visalia CA   August 23rd, 2008 4:31 pm ET
If Obama had vetted Clinton and chose someone else, they still would be angry. I think the PUMAs were born angery, are angry every day of their life and will die angry.
forbiddenmango   August 23rd, 2008 4:28 pm ET
Honestly... get over it, Clinton campaign. Outraged? Please.
Obama/Biden '08!
Dan   August 23rd, 2008 4:27 pm ET
Obama owes Hillary *NOTHING*.
She ran a ruthless and incompetent campaign, and the "dead-enders" are irrational people who won't be happy unless Hillary is installed in the White House.
Andy in Charlotte, NC   August 23rd, 2008 4:23 pm ET
She lost, get over it! She ran a campaign, that's now in debt because she campaigned for too long. If she can't manager her campaign's budget, how can she run America's? She's too polarizing to unite the country and get Independent votes. That's just the way it is. She may be intelligent an smart on lots of issues, but she just wasn't an overall good fit for Obama. Nothing bad, it just didn't work out.
Obama could've included her a little more in his VP search, and she could've been more outspoken about supporting Obama and talking to her supporters (who are supposedly going to vote for McCain!). Let's move on.
seankinney   August 23rd, 2008 4:19 pm ET
I think we all need to grow up a bit.
