CNN’s reporting forced the Obama campaign to scrap its original plan.
CNN’s reporting forced the Obama campaign to scrap its original plan.

DENVER (CNN) – Barack Obama planned to name Joe Biden as his running mate by text message at 8 a.m. ET Saturday morning, but was forced to move up the announcement when CNN broke the story after midnight, a senior Obama official said.

At 12:42 a.m. ET, CNN reported that Obama had picked Biden to join him on the ticket. Several other news organizations confirmed the CNN report shortly afterwards.

“Had a certain network not blown our cover at a certain time the text message would have gone out in the morning, 8 a.m. Eastern,” Robert Gibbs, a senior advisor, said with a grin on Sunday. “We told people they would find out from us. When we decided it was going to get out we decided to send the text out.”

Gibbs said he believes despite the fact that the rollout plan had to be altered, a “vast majority of the people” still learned by text message when they woke up in the morning.

Some Republicans and others suggested that Obama’s 3 a.m. ET email had been intended as a deliberate swipe at Hillary Clinton, who ran a primary season ad that referenced that hour of the morning to make the case she was more qualified to handle a breaking crisis.

BORING CNN,

It's amazing that CNN constantly acts like this Presidential race is about THEM? NO ONE cares what CNN thinks!!! Bottom line. CNN is just reporting this nonsense for "ratings" purposes. Come on people, do you really think CNN is not ALL ABOUT CNN? The media networks are NOT about the TRUTHS, their ALL about their ratings and doing everything and anything to raise their numbers!!!

Chris   August 25th, 2008 8:35 am ET

The best laid plans of mice and weasels often go awry.

dave in RI   August 25th, 2008 8:33 am ET

Shame on you CNN!!!! What gives you the right to announce something that should have rightfully been Obama announcement to make, not yours. Now to be fair, you better do this to McCan't also.
Go ahead and print this one, if you dare, you have so protective of your blogs and "journalists" that you are actiing like Bush, anything negative toward your organizations can not get out. I use to respect you, byt you have gone too far this time.

Nico Sciscente   August 25th, 2008 8:33 am ET

what a bunch of cry babies.......sore losers are what I call those Hillary supporters who are still holding out........you know what......either you are a loyal democrat or go vote Republican and enjoy another 4 years of crap!!......by the way...........I've renamed CNN.....it's now the Crappy News Network.........if you're going to show McCain ads which are blatant lies and not denounce them and let the your viewers know that in fact they are lies then you are a worthless, disrespected news network and I will be following the rest of the campaign on alternate networks!!

neville beaton   August 25th, 2008 8:33 am ET

Why are so many of you ditto heads buffons posing as unhappy democrats. We can all see through your childish crap. You people need to start thinking independly.Stop taking your marching orders from that that garish, overweight, impotent pig.

Pat   August 25th, 2008 8:33 am ET

To the Hillary supporters,

You better think wisely before you vote McCain, if you care at all for Hillary. She is the ONE you will hurt the most. If we do not get a Dem. in the White House, her political career will be over. She will be blamed for this horrible mess we our in.
Please take the time and look at what Obama is offering you. If McCain is elected we run the chance of losing the women's rights that we have work so hard to get and now he has mentioned bring back the draft.
I would not be surprised if Hillary is given a cabinet position, if Obama is elected. but if you don't vote Obama, you will be taking that away from her too. Please if you truly love Hillary, vote Obama.

That's not something to be proud of CNN. The Obama campaign did an amazing job of keeping it quiet for as long as they did. Way to blow it for them.

John King, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO YOUR HAIR??????????????

Lidia   August 25th, 2008 8:32 am ET

You may be more balanced than FOX, and I wouldn't dream of listening to that lot. But as the years go by, I listen to CNN less and less, because of little things like this and big things like misreporting what happened in Georgia. There was a time when I got cable just so that I could watch CNN. No more!!!

B J   August 25th, 2008 8:31 am ET

With Hillary getting more votes (not superdelegates), I expect we will never hear again how Bush stole the election? I doubt it.

Where is the change? This is the same old politics different package. I shouldn’t have wasted my vote on him it March.

Childish move by CNN. Whe cares which media outlet released this info first? They should have respected the wishes of the Obama campaign.

I compare this to the 13 year old that sill has to find out what his or her Christmas present was before Xmas morning. Big deal.

Why was it so important to "break this news"? Why couldn't you let the millions of Americans that signed up for the e-mail and text alert enjoy it. At least it worked out for people on the east coast.

Deb, Allentown, PA   August 25th, 2008 8:22 am ET

I tried all day yesterday to get this posted, but couldn't get it past moderation.

So now we see McCain courting the PUMAs. I'm sure he'll find some stupid and vengeful enough to throw their hat into his ring, but only if they want their children and grandchildren to die in his wars and want to return us to the era of back-alley abortions. I hope the majority will do the right thing and vote for anyone BUT him.

The smart ones will remember his disdain of Hillarycare and realize that 4 more years of Republican rule will further deteriorate this country, economically, globally and morally.

PLEASE BE SMART.

jj   August 25th, 2008 8:22 am ET

Sorry but she is still more qualified. Biden's a good choice to but I'm still voting for the top spot not a VP, so it will be McCain. Don't want a president who has no experience and has to rely on others for all the decisions. I want a PRESIDENT NOT A SPEAKER OR PREACHER.

gluvnast   August 25th, 2008 8:22 am ET

wasn't this over 200 comments yesterday????

anyway, y'all PUMA's will fall for anything...and SHAME on CNN for instigating drama.

For those that want to vote for McCain, because Clinton is not on the ticket , think before you do it . you are doing it out of angry. you are only voting for the same thing we are going thur now. Bush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

K.R.   August 25th, 2008 8:20 am ET

Although I was expecting one of the news outlets to break the story before hand, I was naive and kept my fingers crossed it wouldn't happen. I was disappointed to receive a breaking news text from CNN before the official announcement. It would be nice to return to a day where "mums the word".

Spanky Hussein   August 25th, 2008 8:11 am ET

Annie said: "And people still wonder why he is behind..."

Behind? I don't think so. Most major polls show him ahead in a close vote as far as the popular vote is concerned. And in the state polls, which reflects what the electoral college will do, Obama is winning.

The truth is that McCain will convince millions of Americans that he's a confused, angry and vulgar little man with a lot of money... he makes more progress with that every time he opens his mouth. I can't rule out the possibility that Obama might still commit some major gaffe or error, but failing that, he's going to win in November.

oh please   August 25th, 2008 8:08 am ET

The 3 am release of the text message has nothing to do with a stab at Hillary Clinton and everything to do with the fact that they had to get out the message as early as possible. Why? They screwed up. You would have had to not watch any news or be completely dumb not to have known it was going to be Biden. Every other potential nominee was carrying on like it was any other day, but Biden's entire family was driven or flown in before Saturday. It became like a reunion sans the balloons. Great surprise guys! Didn't see that one coming :P

TESAP;SAVANNAH, GA   August 25th, 2008 8:08 am ET

Forgot to mention, how MCCain is playing on the emotions of the Clinton supporters.. DO YOU THINK THEY REALLT WANTED HER AS THE VP WELL THEY DID, AND THEY WOULD HAVE RIPPED HER TO SHREDS.

Donn in Texas   August 25th, 2008 8:07 am ET

It appears that the childish, immature behavior is being displayed by Clinton supporters, not Obama. I agree with Mary Hussein that Ms. Clinton's campaign was not a well-run one, which led to her defeat. And thinking that the Republicans are behind PUMA–give me a break! More sour grapes (without any evidence it is uninformed opinion).

As an independent, I am amazed at the support Hilary Clinton has, despite the tarnished legacy she and her husband have provided presidential historians, but it just proves the point that most voters are ignorant of issues and character and focus more on personality and "likeability"–which is how most presidents get elected.

I don't have a horse in this race, but I think Obama's choice of Joe Biden (a well-regarded and respected man on both sides of the aisle) helps build in that experience factor. It's true in both politics and business: surround yourself with people smarter than you and weigh their counsel wisely..something the Bush Administration failed to do on all accounts.

Mike, Raleigh   August 25th, 2008 8:07 am ET

This is latest from other CNN story.

* Sixty-six percent of Clinton supporters - registered Democrats who want Clinton as the nominee - are now backing Obama. That's down from 75 percent in the end of June. Twenty-seven percent of them now say they'll support McCain, up from 16 percent in late June.*

27% of Hillary supporter will vote for John McCain. So 54% impact on Sen. Obama votes. Basically, there will be only gain of 10% (1.8 millions added vote to Sen. Obama).

McCain needs to get only 20 million votes (may be 20.5 million as repbulican African Americans will vote for Obama) to win election 2008. Congratulations Mr McCain.

NICE TRY. Either they meant to do it and the press is helping the Obama camp cover it up or they really screwed up and made it look like a dig to Sen. Clinton. Either way, the Obama camp fumbled.

According to the video I have seen, of John Roberts going nuts, waiting for the text message.

I don't think you pulled off a "coup."

Even if you did, would this be something to "strut" about?

Why don't you just do what you are supposed to do - report the news?

JP Bless   August 25th, 2008 8:02 am ET

tom   August 25th, 2008 8:01 am ET

Obama can make all the "swipes" he wants at Hillary. He is going to lose to McCain and Hillary will be president in 2012....unless the DNC manages to screw things up AGAIN.

Mitchell W Goodson   August 25th, 2008 8:01 am ET

In hindsight now, what's the big deal? If it were Sen. Obama's strategy to release the name of his VP pick at 3:00 a.m., it would of definitely had a better impact, however, since it wasn't released at 3:00 a.m. because it had became known by CNN before then, we can only view CNN as the spoilers.

Just because CNN was the first to make the official announcement of Obama’s running mate, doesn't make them the best news casters on television. I credit them with their coverage of this election year, but they too at times undermine Sen. Barack Obama's campaign strategy. Whose to say their inside intelligent didn’t come from the Hillary Clinton camp, or one of the disappointed selectees on Obama's short list. Even though those considered for the VP spot all say it's more about serving your Country then a job with a purpose, the odds are at least one of them would fill a little upset over it.

I have to wonder how many of these angry supposed ex Hillaryites are actually Republicans trolling for fights. Hillary wants supporters to vote for Obama. She gave her delegates over to Obama. She lost the primary, Michigan and Florida or not. She conceded. And no wishful thinking will get her on a ballot in 2012.

There's absolutely no reason Obama would take a swipe at Hillary with his veep announcement, and they all made it pretty clear that she wasn't in the running for the slot.

Another case of the self serving corporate media making the news rather than reporting it.

Maybe it doesn't really matter since the socalled elections are nothing more than a political version of "Worldwide Wesling Entertainment" (WWF)

A show and nothing more.

bobby   August 25th, 2008 7:52 am ET

Am disappointed to find out that it was originally going out at 8:00 a.m. I absolutely loved that it went out at 3 a.m., and thought that was intended. It was the perfect answer to the rediculous 3 a.m. ads put out during the "debates".

As to that being a "stab" at HIllary, consider it a delayed riposte.

Toby   August 25th, 2008 7:52 am ET

Once again, the media – and their big-business corporate owners – manufacture the news. You certainly don't go out an report it, now that headline news is dominated by right-wing screamers and the regular news is all talk and no reporting.

Voter in SC...   August 25th, 2008 7:48 am ET

I'm SURE that WAS an intended swipe at Hillary, Obama sending that announcement out at 3AM. He's been doing SO MUCH FLIP-FLOPPING, changing his GOALS such as, "Searching and searching for someone who can lead the country..." when he knew full-well that Hillary fit that description! that HE IS A DIFFERENT PERSON than he tried to portray.

Robert   August 25th, 2008 7:47 am ET

Didn't PUMA raise something like 50 grand for Hilary? So much for 18 million strong. Go vote for McCain and turn the clock back to the 1950's. We don't need you.

Miranda   August 25th, 2008 7:47 am ET

Hillary, at this rate, her chances for her current senate seat in New York is looking pretty shaky. Bill is no longer loved in Harlem. The Clintons are on the outside looking in and cant figure out how they got there....but after writing out checks to the tune of $12 million for her struggling campaign and now, knowing of all the infighting with the eglomaniacs of McAuliffe, Wolfson, Carville and Penn...why in the world would anyone want that group heading the country?? They couldn't handle a darn primary.

Sue   August 25th, 2008 7:47 am ET

And you're proud of this, why? My daughter, just turning 18 and voting in her very first election, was so disappointed not to have received that text, and upset with CNN for spilling the beans. But it's more important for you to get the story first. Shame on you.

elizabeth   August 25th, 2008 7:45 am ET

Maybe Hillary, has been promised another position in Obama, cabinet. I'm sure that all were considered for the VP pick. The best for the position was picked.

BK   August 25th, 2008 7:44 am ET

Is it really news that news organizations like CNN have no respect for anyone?

I can't believe people are still talking about Florida and Michigan. Even with those votes counted in full she wouldn't have won the popular vote. Either you accept the result of the popular vote or you admit that you don't really think democracy works.

I do both.

Andrew   August 25th, 2008 7:39 am ET

Why is CNN crowing about this? Getting enough gossip half a day before a candidate to reveal something that the candidate would have revealed doesn't seem like "front page" news. Isn't there any real news for CNN to report?

Cricket   August 25th, 2008 7:39 am ET

Have any of you HRC supporters listened to the way mccain answers every question asked of him?? It is always answered with a "military" tone. Does that not tell you that he will not only remain in Iraq as long as possible, but look until he finds another war to begin?? If you have sons, grandsons, nephews, etc., do you want to be responsible for putting their lives in danger??

Do you want someone who thinks 5million dollars is what it takes to make you rich forming an economic policy??

If you have thought these questions through and still insist on voting for 4 more years of bush-maybe you should seek some counseling-you need it!

CNN and the media is weak. What is the point in breaking a story like this before a candidate intends to release the news? It is nothing less than meddling and invasion of privacy. I would feel the same if it was done on McOldwar's side ... it's just the point of meddling which is lame.

I'm sure you can still get to the people re-pugs hate most....the normal working guy.
Hope ya'll have a nice day! GO OBAMA/BIDEN!!!

I was always thinking that Americans are educated people,

but what I've seen during this election process in America and after

reading a lot of comments in this blog , i realize that most of the Amis are

Dumb as their president Bush and all this Republicans P.U.M.A

Turquoise   August 25th, 2008 7:09 am ET

Hillary is not smart !!!!!! so-called supporting Obama but ok'd her name be in the "pot" she will never be THE PRESIDENT OF THIS COUNTRY !!!!!!!!!!!

h malloy   August 25th, 2008 7:07 am ET

I am amazed to hear on cnn that if obama loses this election Hillary will be blamed. The blame should go to the Kennedy,s. Carolyn and Ted. They are running Obama. They are the cause of all this friction. They will do anything to make sure the Clintons are not in power. Shame on you cnn for not looking into and reporting on the power of the Kennedys in this.

BH   August 25th, 2008 7:06 am ET

And you are proud of this ... You know, consumer news is really getting to be irrelevant.

SmarterThanAFifthGrader   August 25th, 2008 7:06 am ET

You know, as much as I'm for party unity, the Hillary Clinton Supporters need to just acquiesce to the nomination of Barack Obama & call it good. The FL & MI delegates need to be grateful they're even being allowed a voice at the DNC. They should humbly and uncontrovertedly put their support behind Barack, regardless of the fact that their pick (Clinton) was so unethical as to put her name on those states' ballots when both candidates agreed NOT to. These 9th hour stunts to attempt to divert attention from the presumptive nominee are, candidly, pathetic. SHE LOST! GET OVER IT!! And for everyone of the disgruntled Hillary-ites who feel slighted by Obama's pick of Biden as VP–do you honestly expect me to believe that she'd have chosen OBAMA as HER VP had she secured the required delegate count?! HMMMMM.....Wise Up America!

pat C.   August 25th, 2008 7:04 am ET

i am sick of hillary clinton and her insane followers. this race is no longer about her yet she wants to dominate his stage. as an obama supporter i am beginning to feel like we are less important to him than the idiots that he has to deal with trying to make hillary happy.
i think most of us are feeling a little left out right now so obama better be careful and show us a little love here. the news only wants to talk about HILLARY AND HER FOLLOWERS but let me tell you something folks.......it was barack obama followers that got him to this CONVENTION ...NOT HILLARYS CLAN. REMEMBER US OBAMA, YOU STILL NEED US!! CNN...STOP TALKING ABOUT HILLARY CLINTON! THIS IS OBAMA'S TIME!

Bernard   August 25th, 2008 7:04 am ET

Toot Toot...it is so nice when a news agency toots their own horn. We reported something first! Woo hoo! Sometimes, it is more important to report things accurately instead of quickly. How many times have we seen CNN report something incorrectly, a half-truth or just one sided. Shame on you CNN, you should NOT be proud of this (or many other things).

Nando   August 25th, 2008 7:02 am ET

Its funny how our standards for President have droped in the last 20 yrs. We have elected a C student to run our country, and its caught up with us. But I have to say If we elect JOHN MCCAIN who is a D student. WE get what we deserve !!

josh   August 25th, 2008 6:57 am ET

I am a Hillary Clinton supporter but I will not vote for obama and biden because I don’t want the same old politics to change there is no unity for us I don’t like the war in Iraq but we are there and we need protect the innocent from Iran we need a plan mccain has a real one I just wish the candidates would talk more on the economy and immigration I believe the only fair tax is the one where everyone pays the same% and illegal immigrants are give a chance for a clean slat and a green card if they start paying taxes and local and state governments to not get federal funding while they break the law and harbor illegal activities
I know its just one voice but I want it to be loud

bryen   August 25th, 2008 6:56 am ET

CNN didn't break the story. Whoever the inside source on Obama's team was that confirmed it broke the story.

Susan   August 25th, 2008 6:55 am ET

To all you Obama Supporters:

Why is it okay for Obama to want all the delegates from Michigan and Florida to get their full votes now (when he needs them) but it was not okay for Hillary? She never said they should not have their votes counted. She agreed not to campaign there and did not, but the Almighty Obama not only ran ads but now wants the full votes! You are all a bunch of hypocrits! And please don't tell us Hillary supporters that him releasing the text at 3AM had nothing to do with her ad, we were not born yesterday. I have not liked him since day one, he is as arrogant as his wife and as a long time Democrat I do not feel he can lead this great country of ours so therefore why would I vote for someone I don't believe in. This has nothing to do with Hillary but everything to do with him. If your candidate had lost you all would not be any happier than we are. This goes for any backer of a candidate who ran and did not win. But to demand that we vote for someone who we do not believe in and call us names will certainly not help and not make us change our minds. Last time I checked this was a free country and people had a right to do what they feel is right!

Jim   August 25th, 2008 6:53 am ET

I am 55 years old and still do not understand why News organizations think they have to be FIRST with the news? What is the big deal if Joe Biden's name is announced at 12:42 AM or 8:AM? News organizations talk about being FIRST, fall over each other over who's FIRST and then give awards to the channel/newpaper/radio show/reporter who "broke the story". I can understand that 50 years ago, CBS may have reported on Telstar and NBC didn't have it for another 24 hours, but today we are talking minutes.

Kelly   August 25th, 2008 6:45 am ET

Why are we (YOU ) still talking about HIllary....WAKE UP, she sis not WIN, GET OVER yourself. I was once a Hillary supporter, and after I truly listen and COMPREHEND what was being told to me, I made an INTELLIGENT DECISION. Like many of us, and being a WOMAN, my vote was because she had a SORRY HUSBAND, but my thoughts are she was not and IS NOT in the dark of her HUSBAND's infidelity. As you can see, she is still with him. LIKE MANY OTHERWOMEN. I am voting on the issues that will benefit my family and I not based on RACE, SEX, RELIGION, etc, all those things that is considered a volation of EEO.

Hillary ran the bet fight she knew how, unfortunately, it was not enough.

Those of you that are still angry, if it is 18,000 or so; why not send her a contribution to help clear her debt. I am sorry, that will become a tax write off. Stop gripping and complaining, it is OLD.

PJ, New York Independent   August 25th, 2008 6:41 am ET

Chris, you said:

Just so everyone know – PUMA = funded by the republicans.

Don't let them hijack the democrat party. They are disguising as Hillary supporters.
****************************************************************************
You're a moron, you really are! I'm not being funded by anyone. I, like millions of other's am just choosing my country over 'the party'. Obama is not capable/fit to be President of US. Therefore, I'll do whatever I need to do to get people to support the other guy (McCain). Also, yes, there still is some 'bitterness' there, as we do feel Hillary Clinton was pushed aside/bullied by her own party.

Just wait till November Chris. What will you do then when you see that millions of Clinton supporter's crossed over for McCain. What then, will we all be racists?

Hillary   August 25th, 2008 6:36 am ET

See Hillary is being smart and is playing it by the books. She know in order for her to win in 2012 she has to support Obama.

Because she know she will need Obama supporters down the road. It's her supporters that is blined by hate.

annie   August 25th, 2008 6:36 am ET

Yeah right!

The Obama camp new exactly what they were doing releasing the news at 3 a.m.

Another stab at Hillary.

Obama is such a vindictive childish egotistical candidate.

And people still wonder why he is behind......it's HIS EGO and childish behavior.

Kingsley Orji, Oyigbo, Rivers state Nigeria   August 25th, 2008 6:30 am ET

'Open Your Eyes 2008'

Your eyes are still closed if you are still talking about FL and MI votes at this time. It's a surprise people cannot accept the reality that Clinton lost and just move on except they are using it for an excuse for something else in them they cannot boldly mention (being racist?).

This election is not about Clinton or Obama but the USA. You can go vote for McCain if that suits you or else shut up.

PJ, New York Independent   August 25th, 2008 6:29 am ET

...and what a coincidence, it just happened to be 3 AM when they decided to send it out. I don't believe it and I'm sure MANY other Clinton supporter's don't buy it either!

The Obama people know that the '3 AM' thing is getting criticized right now, so now they're trying to cover it up, making it look like they were forced to send the text out at exactly 3 AM. Right!!

William   August 25th, 2008 6:23 am ET

This will be the second time in my adult life that I don't vote for my party's nominee. I wont vote McCain, but I just can't vote for the Obama/Biden ticket.

You know the old saying, "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with BS". That's exactly what's happening here.

C U in 2012, Hillary!!   August 25th, 2008 6:11 am ET

PLEASE don't waste your vote. PLEASE, don't write Hillary in...vote McCain. Tell the DNC that we won't stand for their strong arm tactics.

If not now...
2012 is the year for Hillary.

Katrina   August 25th, 2008 6:04 am ET

Um, "Open your Eyes," it's Hillary who's been pushing for this, not Obama.... it's a concession HE made to HER. And, no, that doesn't mean she wins. Remember, super-delegates? Rules? A country built on the rule of law?

Mary Hussein   August 25th, 2008 6:03 am ET

Maybe because all candidates agreed not to campaign in MI or FL because those states chose to ignore the primary schedule?! If you can't play by the rules....Hillary lost because she couldn't manage her campaign finances and in general, ran a lousy campaign – thank you, Mark Penn. By writing off the caucus states and by not planning for any state after Feb 5th, she was out-smarted and out-strategized. Obama's agreement to seat ANY delegates from either of those states was a magnanimous gesture at the time. We all need to get it together as Democrats, or the Republicans will again steal the White House and this country will not survive four more years of Bush's policies, both economic and foreign.

Liam   August 25th, 2008 6:02 am ET

Because thats not what this article is about. Maybe thats it?

Tom Swift, Shopton USA   August 25th, 2008 5:55 am ET

'
"Some Republicans and others suggested that Obama’s 3 a.m. ET email had been intended as a deliberate swipe at Hillary Clinton, who ran a primary season ad that referenced that hour of the morning to make the case she was more qualified to handle a breaking crisis."

That woman.... Hillary Clinton, needs to get over it.

`

Edwin   August 25th, 2008 5:53 am ET

To Open Your Eyes 2008.

Why don't you open your eyes, they broke the rules.

common sense   August 25th, 2008 5:51 am ET

I just woke up and I'm smelling the fresh cup of coffee in my hand...you should do the same; Hilliary Rodham-Clinton will not be the president of the United States. Nancy Pelosi has a better chance. Get over it already.

Renata Smith   August 25th, 2008 5:48 am ET

I was a disappointed at CNN. You would think they could have just waited to get their text like everyone else.

SAB   August 25th, 2008 5:42 am ET

Once Barack knew who his running mate was going to be he should have informed those that were not selected and notified the public instead of toying around with it. I think it was really silly the way in which this was handled.

Chris   August 25th, 2008 5:39 am ET

Just so everyone know – PUMA = funded by the republicans.

Don't let them hijack the democrat party. They are disguising as Hillary supporters.

Diane from Florida   August 25th, 2008 5:08 am ET

Well, unfortunately, it looks like we will have at least 4 more years of the Republicans thanks to Obama's lack of leadership and poor choices !!! I WILL ALWAYS BE FOR CLINTON !!

Diane from Florida

James   August 25th, 2008 5:05 am ET

Yes, those crazy folks over at the Obama campaign are decided that mocking Clinton this late in the game would somehow aid them push their guy to victory. That's really just plain silly. People need to make informed judgments about issues in this campaign. Sadly, we often get caught up in political soap operas. Any Clinton supporter who really prefers McCain to Obama obviously doesn't care about issues and is more concerned about issues of identity politics. We know what the Republican party platform is and what the Democratic party platform is. The nominee of each party reflects those platforms. I'm not voting for Obama because he's Black or because I think he's the perfect candidate, I'm voting for him because he's not another Republican offering us more of the same course.. We simply can't afford more of the same. If former Clinton voters can't resolve their bruised feelings after a tough race, I fear for the future of the Clinton legacy, Hillary's career, Obama's candidacy, my children, America, and the world as a whole.

How People Forget   August 25th, 2008 4:24 am ET

Can you say Spin....So where is this change that Obama keeps talking about wait here it is:
FL and MI, Your votes don't count, wait they do now but half, wait but now thats its to late we will count them in fill...btw.....Get the news media to talk about this, Hilary wins. Remember when the super delegates said they would vote for whoever had the most delagates count, while by reinstating the counts of Fl and MI, Hilary wins. Even if you look at MI alone, they had 128 delegates, and Obama was not on the ticket, so she gets the vote. Why is media not talking about this…?

Open Your Eyes 2008   August 25th, 2008 4:20 am ET

Can you say spin...so where is the change Obama talks about....
Here it is: MI and Fl
Your votes don't count, wait they do but half, but now that it is over they count 100%...IT changes sec to sec...btw Get the news media to talk about this, Hilary wins. Remember when the super delegates said they would vote for whoever had the most delagates count, while by reinstating the counts of Fl and MI, Hilary wins. Even if you look at MI alone, they had 128 delegates, and Obama was not on the ticket, so she gets the vote. Why is media not talking about this…?

fa   August 25th, 2008 4:01 am ET

so would you be the first to announce McCAins running mate. I really dont know what to think of CNN these days. Wolf Blitzer was my favorite and I did admire Jonathan Mann. Forgive me if I am wrong it seems Wolf has become a Republcan talking. The Situation room remains my most favourite CNN program. Mr. Blitzer please dont drive me away, where would I get my reporting from. FOx News?

John Air Force Vet   August 25th, 2008 3:42 am ET

Hey-real nice of you guys-disregard Obama's plan-disrespect those of us sighned up for text or e-mail. Do you plan on following him at Christmas to tell his kids what Santa bought them, too?

Nevada dude   August 25th, 2008 3:39 am ET

glad you guys were on this one. you should only have worked as hard covering all the scandals in the Bush administration, you bunch of geniuses!!!

James Carville   August 25th, 2008 3:30 am ET

yeah right... this is very sadistic on the part of Obama camp.

This was an attempt to mock the "3:00am phone call at white house" ad of Hillary for President campaign.

DJ Funktual   August 25th, 2008 3:28 am ET

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9P-eYwRUI1k

This guy should be DJing the Democratic Convention. Coolest Obama video EVER!!!!!!

Kathie in Arkansas   August 25th, 2008 3:26 am ET

Yeah right, so knowing that 3:00 am would look like a dig they couldn't have done it at 2:00 or 4:00, give us a break. Obama has already shown the world that his ego will not be bruised.

keith   August 25th, 2008 2:57 am ET

War with Iraq? Crickets. Obama's VP? Relentless investigating and reporting.

Do you see something wrong with this picture?

frank   August 25th, 2008 2:54 am ET

Obama was desperate because he does not know a thing about foreign policy that's why he chose Biden thinking that it will encourage more white people to trust him. I think it should be the president who is most familiar with the way of running things, instead of relying on political advisors.

Mark   August 25th, 2008 2:45 am ET

I really find it hard for CNN to justify this. They seem to relish in their ethical ranking of just a hair above Fox News. This network used to actually care about the news, not ratings. Now they have Wolf Blitzer creating and stirring up news. Time to turn to BBC news. So long CNN.

Josh   August 25th, 2008 2:44 am ET

I have never seen the mainstream media circle their wagons around a candidate like this in my entire life.
If Obama doesn't win this election with this election just off all the media support he gets, it's really saying something.

Jatovi, NC   August 25th, 2008 2:40 am ET

When did the world start revolving around the Clinton's?

Bentley   August 25th, 2008 2:35 am ET

In this election process we've been witness to the destruction of the Democratic Party. Isn't this what you wanted Donna Brazile? You made a similar statement in 2004.

What has been happening, is one of the largest movements in the history of the United States, against one candidate, Barack Obama. No one could get the leadership of the DNC to listen, nor to have them fully vet Senator Obama.

It started out as a small group in 2007. This group got together to do common research which turned into a bombardment of documented research. There is no question why Obama doesn't discuss the truth regarding his past and present live. And, the media sugar coated every move of this candidate never reporting the truth.

We continually warned the DNC and pundits what was happening. We were ignored. We are now a huge population of this nation who do not particpate in polls or continually waste our time trying to convince the media "why" we won't vote for him. We have been called several names by the media and Obama supporters, but we true Democrats have not left the party; the party left us.

You can take this message and accurately report that 8.8, as of mid-June did not support Obama. You won't catch this amount in polls, but trust this figure for now. You will know come November the accuracy of our defection. No one will stay home. We will send a message to all that we the people will not be lead to vote for a candidate that is so questionable. The Clintons cannot influence our votes, so stop blaming them and put the blame where it honestly belongs–on YOU.

ann   August 25th, 2008 2:26 am ET

I have never heard so many excuses for Obama not doing well.
I am one Hillary voter and I will not give that vote to Obama. He hasn't earned it so I will vote for McCain.
