Sen. Hillary Clinton will address the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday night.
Sen. Hillary Clinton will address the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday night.

DENVER, Colorado (CNN) - For six hours and with at least 60 speakers, Democrats will focus Tuesday on a theme of "Renewing America's Promise" at their national convention.

The headliners - Sen. Hillary Clinton and former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner - will deliver full-length addresses. But most of those appearing at the podium will have four minutes or less to get their message across to a sometimes less-than-attentive crowd.

The podium parade will feature 40 officeholders, including two mayors, 13 governors, 14 members of the U.S. House of Representatives and 11 senators - nine of them women.

The only state official on the list who is not a governor is California State Comptroller John Chiang, who is known for his clashes with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The remaining 20 speakers are primarily nonpoliticians, including a flood victim and people who recently have lost jobs or are about to be laid off.

<<<this college kid as a news for PUMA

Many college kids were younger and they held gruges in 2000 when the supreme court selected Bush...we were still young held gruges in 2004 when Bush stole that election too. Guess what, this year we are old enough to make our voices heard...AND WE DID.

So PUMAS, if you screw this up...we won't mind holding a gruge for 4 more years.

SO PICK YOUR POISON

lol@the constant marginalization of Obama supporters in these comments. Something tells me that if Obama was a tad bit lighter in complexion, and carried a name like O'Leary instead of Obama, the opinions and positions of his supporters would carry that much more weight in their eyes. You people need to really start looking in the mirror and examining yourselves. America is declining b/c of US ALL AND OUR INABILITY TO USE COMMON SENSE WHEN PICKING OUR LEADERS. 7 PLUS YEARS OF BOTCHED FOREIGN POLICY, ECONOMIC REGRESSION, AND A FAILING SCHOOL SYSTEM AND WE STILL HAVEN'T LEARNED YET?

mel from Ohio   August 26th, 2008 2:45 pm ET

Let's hope Hillary has gotten the message about what the second day is about. It's NOT about HER or BILL!!!!

sharon   August 26th, 2008 2:38 pm ET

on this 2nd day, I hope CNN learns froms it's shoddy coverage of day 1,and puts a lid on it's biased talking heads(eg Carville,Gergen,Wolf)who continued to criticize and spark dissent while talking over the speakers. The last thing one wants to hear is the adnauseam prattle of die hard Rep pundits at a Dem convention and opinionated reporting. They seemed to think they were the "stars" of the Hillary show. I'm sure millions of viewers tuned into Cspan(I know I did) where they could be their own pundit.

Tony   August 26th, 2008 2:12 pm ET

You go girl! Smear the republicant's in your speech, bring back your supporters and then write a book about the whole experience and make enough to pay off your debt.

McKAY   August 26th, 2008 2:12 pm ET

Is all about the Clintons and nobody else–that is why majority of Americans hate them now? She has done irrepairable damage to the democratic party. Let's watch and see if Barack loses this election whether she will even get re-elected for her senate seat..

Spencer from VA   August 26th, 2008 2:09 pm ET

I can't wait to hear Mark Warner has to say since he represents my state, so Hillary can kick rocks.

Patrick in Kansas City   August 26th, 2008 2:08 pm ET

If she wants to focus on renewing America she should start with getting her supporters to remember they are Democrats first, and Hillary Clinton supporters second. If they, or you, take issue with that synopsis change your party affiliation. If you're gonna be a Democrat and vote Republican we'd like to know who our traitors are. Get on board Clinton supporters or shut the hell up and move on!

The Democratic Party has gone upside down! time to shake it and see the rotten apples fall out and leave.

TXBad1 Never for Obama (X-Dem)   August 26th, 2008 1:57 pm ET

I'm sorry but the Democratic party turned there backs from top down on Hillary, I will Vote a straight Republican ticket this year for the 1st time in My Life! and I have always Voted Democrat till now!

Sick & Tired of Nobama   August 26th, 2008 1:54 pm ET

KICK HIM TO THE CURB HILLARY AND MAKE YOUR OWN CASE. HE IS SUCH A TAINTED CANDIDATE IT IS PATHETIC..
SHOW YOUR POWER AND BLOW THAT PLACE WIDE OPEN.

NORA, FLORIDA   August 26th, 2008 1:46 pm ET

The reality of the matter that those die hard Hillary supporters are forgetting is this: If Obama wins, Hillary will without a doubt have a position in his cabinet. Then she can pay off her debt.

However, if McCain win, she will be back to peanuts in the Senate. For PUMA's to claim fame to being so BRIGHT, they must be working of a 5 WATT bulb.

Irma in North Carolina   August 26th, 2008 1:45 pm ET

Most of all she needs to tell all the puma suporters, how childish and foolish they are, and tell them we dont need four more years of Bush. The puma people ought to open up their wallets to hillary and keep their mout shut about every thing else.

Pepou   August 26th, 2008 1:45 pm ET

If I hear McCain mention once more that he was a POW I will puke !!!

Silence Dogood   August 26th, 2008 1:28 pm ET

After Obama splitting up the party and all the back-door hate speech from his campaign, even putting her on the stage is sad and weak.

If she is such a "monster", why is she being allowed to speak? I would like to think it is because obama sees how smart and strong she is. But I also know the truth is that he needs to use her for a while.

No Obama
No McCain
Vote Green Party

Ken in Dallas   August 26th, 2008 1:23 pm ET

Good ideas, but Republican-style propaganda warfare beats airy visionary presentations every time.

If they want to get anywhere, maybe they should point out that Bush economics have brought this nation to the edge of bankruptcy, and that the United States can actually go under in four more years of borrow-and-spend faith-based supply-side voodoo economics.

NotFallingInLine.org   August 26th, 2008 1:22 pm ET

What will Hillary say tonight to convince me to vote for an unknown, inexperienced, unqualified and unprincipled neophyte who sleazed off with a nomination that he did not earn and does not deserve?

That's the question the MSM continues to ask.

Why should SHE have to convince me?

Isn't that Obama's job?

Besides, what can she say? Nothing.

KATHLEEN   August 26th, 2008 1:21 pm ET

Hillary and Bill should move to Dubai. Bill get paid millions to
speak. You think that the millions Hillary lost in the primaries won't be or isn't already refunded by Dubai? MONEY WILL COME THEIR WAY WITHOUT AMERICA'S HELP. COLUMBIA PAID BILL TO OURSOURCE OUR JOBS DURING THE PRIMARIES ALONG WITH PENN. THEY ONLY FIRED PENN WHEN IT HIT THE NEWS.Dubai is the place where the big wigs are running to
buy, invest and party.

Karen Raleigh   August 26th, 2008 1:17 pm ET

Hopefully , she sounds genuine–not easy for someone like hillary who expects obama to pay her campaign debt.

Steve   August 26th, 2008 1:15 pm ET

Why do we have to baby the rich Clintons? Sore losers.

Addendum   August 26th, 2008 1:15 pm ET

The first day of the convention was well done. The message was what it was planned to be and what everybody perceived.

Now we can all be overly critical and tear the best laid plans to pieces, and we can all also offer supportive, diplomatic suggestions.

What I do not understand is, Why was Democratic Strategist, James Carville even in the picture since he was so critical. And I couldn't believe Anderson was right there with him. What the heck were they thinking or not.

Why would a Democratic Strategist openly piss on the parade, if he is a Democratic Party Supporter? Maybe he and Anderson will be all praise when they see Hillary tonight.

Bulldog   August 26th, 2008 1:07 pm ET

Heaven knows America needs to be renewed back on the track after 8 years of disastrous policies of the GOP and Bush/Cheney. This country is definately at it's lowest point of my lifetime and John McCain will only make it worse.

The US abolishes century old clinton dynasty   August 26th, 2008 1:04 pm ET

what ever she says dont believe it, she is not honest, and she has to say something becuase she knows she has to secure her job in the senate
and that of her princess

dont trust the major PUMA and dont ever trust the clintons not until they reveal where they get their millions in the foudnation and in the library that day you will see

NoMcSame   August 26th, 2008 1:03 pm ET

She is ok because she said how stupid the PUMA people are and how hurt she was that her people are all mouth and when it came down to supporting her by giving her money they all turned their backs on her. She also said that she takes back everything that she said about Obama and how she wishes her husband loved her like Obama loves his wife. Billary has cleaned up everything and then she got her respect back and will be called Hillary again. Now we will all work together to beat down the republicans and kick George out of the White House so that Obama can move in for the next 16 yrs because after his 8 Mrs. Obama will have to do her 8. What a beautiful world.

I'm so sick of my party right now I could puke. If Democrats had any interest in "Renewing America's Promise" they would have chosen someone other than an arrogant con-man to be our candidate. Instead the only thing the DNC and the Democratic leadership is interested in is being part of a movement. Well the closest thing I have to their movement is a bowel movement!

Abby   August 26th, 2008 12:55 pm ET

Look for Hillary to give a blockbuster guarantee that she will not run in 2012 as we will have an incumbent president who will be running for a second term. She will redeem her legacy yet. Watch.

America's promise equals American entitlements to the liberal progressives..

therealist   August 26th, 2008 12:53 pm ET

Renewing America?? More like back to a second term of Jimmy Carter's failed 1970's policies..
