From

DENVER (CNN) — The line of the night so far: "That’s not a maverick. That’s a sidekick.’’

We will hear that line again.

"Four more months’’ is pretty good line, too. Bob Casey’s was the first speech to focus squarely on the Bush record.

Best one I've heard is the nick- name for McCain…"Grampy McSame"…

THE REPUBLICAN PARTY ARE AGENTS FROM HELL   August 26th, 2008 11:33 pm ET

THAT IS VERY FITTING, SO TRUE!

THAT'S NOT AN MAVERICK THAT'S A SIDEKICK"

julibear   August 26th, 2008 11:18 pm ET

Bob Casey was good by Dennis Kucinich was GREAT! Wake up America! He totally skewered Bush/McCain. I agree, CSpan is the best coverage-you miss everything if you watch CNN except for the rumor mill.

R J..Miamisburg, Oh   August 26th, 2008 11:15 pm ET

Lets put it this way. MY Union told us they were not going to support McCain due to NAFTA, HOWEVER they said they were not going to tell us to back Pope Obama The First, He who walks on water.. Most of the die hard union will vote for Obama,as they wil back any Dumorat, no mater what they run for..however I am hearing many of them saying they will vote 3rd party or not at all…OK for me. I am a Union member voting for McCain.. I don't want some one with less eperience then me as Pres..

Put it this way..

McCain-26 Years in Congress-Senate-Military Service 22 years..

Obama-3 and a half years in the US Senate-ZERO Military service.

NOW WHO DO YOU WANT sitting in the WHite House??

Sandi from Michigan   August 26th, 2008 11:12 pm ET

CNN you are there, on the floor…take us viewers there too!

Please be more thoughtful to us viewers who want to watch the speeches. John King's map is nice, and all the comments are fine…but please let us see and hear the more of the convention instead of just hearing you tell us about it, and what YOU think of it. I feel like you are the story instead of the DNC.

Karen   August 26th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

I don't think Bob Casey's ever had such a good speech. He's a good guy but really sort of a schmuck. I'll vote for him over Santorum any day though, for sure! Plenty of good speeches tonight — I crack up when people ask what the SUBSTANCE is behind Obama's words. There's substance but people don't have the attention spans for anything longer than 10 seconds.

Tom in Delaware   August 26th, 2008 10:31 pm ET

In the DNC is looking for a snappy sounding not-so-sugar-coated put-down of a nickname or cool sounding phrase all they need to do is look in the comments section of these blogs…they're about as funny as they come, unfortunately they have about as much substance as Barack Obama.

Ouch! The truth hurts!

AgentFoxMulder   August 26th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

Is Michelle the smart one, and Barak the sidekick?

She is the one who left the law firm and established the Chicago political ties that enabled Barak to become the state legislator. She made all the statewide connections for him. Maybe we should elect Michelle and Hillary?

Friend of Obama   August 26th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

CNN, your coverage is terrible. I am so disappointed, so I have decided to watch CSPAN!

Jason   August 26th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

When did the economy fail…. 2006 The year of the frist democratic change message! Yup.. the change left in your pocket after their done fleecing you and giving it to people that don't want to get jobs and just want to live off welfare.

Murietta   August 26th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

CNN, you are not showing enough of the speeches, you are talking too much. Boring

ARL   August 26th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

CSPAN has the best coverage. I want to see more of the convention instead of listening to talking heads worrying about Hillary's comments.

I know I wasting my time typing this because CNN is not going to post this.

Harold   August 26th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

How Could You?

For those of you who are easily distracted by divisive politics and verbal gaffs and somehow think that this irrelevant minutia actually will help you and your family – let me ask you simply – How Could You?

As a woman, how could you vote for a man (McCain) who voted in 2008 against the right for women to receive equal pay for equal work.

As a woman, how could you vote for a man who in 2007 voted against extending health care to 10 million children in the CHIP program.

As a veteran, how could you vote for a fellow soldier who was against the 2008 GI bill calling it pork barrel spending.

As a veteran, how could you vote for a fellow soldier who voted against the Health Care for Veterans bill, AND the Tax Extension Bill for veterans.

As a veteran, how could you vote for a fellow soldier who in 2007 voted against the bill entitled Expressing Support for the Women and Men of the Armed Forces bill.

As minority, or any decent citizen for that matter, how could you vote for a man who voted against the Employment Discrimination Act (2006) (I guess he thinks it’s ok to discriminate against others) and the District of Columbia Voting Rights Act. For Christ’s sake he voted against having a Martin Luther King Holiday.

How could you abandon the things you really believe in and be distracted by trash politics that are part of an overtly coordinated divide and conquer strategy. Don’t be fooled! Check it out for yourself http://www.votesmart.org

Henrita   August 26th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

I'd like to see the Democrats add "FOR THE SAKE OF OUR CHILDREN" to 'A CHANGE WE CAN BELEIVE IN." It's all about THE FUTURE, NOT THE PAST, as Senator Warner just stated. These phrases can make people catch fire! OBAMA campaign, please take note.

Porter   August 26th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

This has been horrible so far. Those who can speak sound corny and contrived (Ms. Obama). Those who can't speak (Ledbetter, Casey Jr., everyone only shown on C-Span) were basically dead on arrival. There's always hope the Clintons, Mr. Obama, and Biden will turn this thing up a notch. Big disappointment so far though.

Joe Reg   August 26th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

The fairy tale has become too much of a real force for Bill.

Obama's adventure is already a legend. A great American legend rooted in the beliefs of our potential of what we can achieve to secure our future.

Obama/Biden 08.

Josh   August 26th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

95% of Bush's policies was supported by McCain in the last 7 years.

Can you still argue that McCain is diffrent? If you do, I guess we just haven't noticed yet but it is the begining of the end!!!

Gary Mallen   August 26th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

I still think you guys are the best. Hoever ive been watching the convention and i really would much rather here all ( including the boring talks. As much as I love CNN you guys will not make up my mind, the people do .

R   August 26th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

I prefer WAKE UP AMERICA!

Terrence (Winston Salem, NC)   August 26th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

"George BUsh started at 3rd base…… and then he stole 2nd. " That's the line of the night.

Rick   August 26th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

When does the DNC take their vote???

Jason   August 26th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

"George Bush started on third base, and then he stole second."

That's another line to remember from the convention.

brian   August 26th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

Unfortunately the democrats are too intelligent and educated for the public, so they have to dumb it down to simple one-liners for people to cling to. It's been the GOP strategy for years.

VOICE OF REASON   August 26th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

HOW BOUT TRAIN WRECK A COMIN!!!!! THE OBAMAS HAVE ONE TOO…."YOU GONNA EAT THAT PICKLE?" OR WHATS IN IT FOR ME. OR I'VE HAD A CHANGE OF THOUGHT ON THAT RADICAL THINGY" OR MAYBE JUST "GOTCHA" MEET MY NEW FREIND UNCLE HUGO.

Obama Mama in Atlanta   August 26th, 2008 10:12 pm ET

SideKick, puppet, = McCaint, let's see if CNN will print this statement probably not since it's not a negative comment against Barack.

Fred   August 26th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

All the catch phrases in the world, doesn't change the fact, that when the next terrorist strike hits us, who do we want leading this Country? They are still out there, they are still planning our demise.

Former Hillary Supporter in Atlanta   August 26th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

If Bill doesn't attend he can kiss any support for Hillary in the future from the African American Community GOOD-BYE! WHAT A DISAPPOINT SORE LOSER!

Jean   August 26th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

Maybe CNN commenators should watch CSPAN so that they can hear all of the speeches!

Edgar - Orlando   August 26th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

DNC your making another mistake by saying that McCain is Bush successor! Big Mistake!

TheLeftNut   August 26th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

McCain'08->Putin'12

Change you can bereave in

NotFallingInLine.org   August 26th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

A "sidekick," eh? As catch-phrases go, it's about as catchy as "McSame," and just as empty.

Please, nominate a real leader.

We need Hillary Clinton.

Bamama in Atlanta   August 26th, 2008 10:07 pm ET

McCaint is a sidekick and he is a puppet as well just like George Bush, being told what to do by the likes of Rush Limbaugh and the others at Fox and unfortunately at CNN too!

Jane   August 26th, 2008 10:07 pm ET

I know you pundits really want to push the whole Hilary/Barack perceived family feud, but let me ask – So what do the Republicans have to brag abuot, they basically got stuck with Mccain by default out of a bunch of loser candidates. Just because the Democrasts were able to field a couple of strong candidates?

no wonder they think Obama is a celebrity – it's called 'honest enthusisam' for your candidate, somethign they clearly don't recognize.

Obama08   August 26th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Again…how would you know…you haven't been listening to these speeches…and Warner gave an Obama speech which seems to be beyond the CNN talking heasd who are stuck in the soundbites and red meat and divisiveness of the past!! That was what his speech was about..not sound bites…not attacks…just straight talk.

Disappointed Democrat   August 26th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

I know you democrats are going to be very disappointed in November when John McCain wins. I am not a McCain supporter but its pathetic to see how Hillary Clinton was treated and the nomination stolen from her. I will never vote for sleazy Obama because I don't like or trust him. So no matter what Hillary says I will not support him but I will still be 100% behind her.

John in Binghamton NY   August 26th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Ryan, that was true 8 years ago. This is not the same McCain that I supported in 2000. He is no longer a maverick at all. You are blind to call a guy that marches in lock step with the GOP 95% of time a maverick.

Take this from a former republican turned independent. The GOP needs to punished for the last 8 years. McCain has morphed into Bush to win the hearts of the GOP.

chris nguyen   August 26th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

vote mc caine so hillary can run in 2012

Marie   August 26th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

I thought both of these lines were great!! Way to go Bob Casey!

OBAMA/BIDEN '08!

Monica   August 26th, 2008 10:03 pm ET

Yawn. So far nothing riveting. I had to mute Warner which only made him more annoying. What's with the lousy speakers? No wonder they keep expecting Hillary to save the election.

THE UNDERWRITER   August 26th, 2008 10:03 pm ET

I agree on both. I heard them on NPR during a snack run to the gas station.

That's what the Dems need to be doing.

TheLeftNut   August 26th, 2008 10:02 pm ET

McCain'08
Putin'12

Guaranteed!

Dee N STL   August 26th, 2008 10:01 pm ET

I loved it, time for the Bush clan to ride their horses back to Texas

LT131   August 26th, 2008 10:01 pm ET

I can't take 4 more months, much less 4 more years. Go Barack!

barryc   August 26th, 2008 10:00 pm ET

can i just add what a great job warner did this evening…he has my vote come 2012 2016

j b   August 26th, 2008 9:59 pm ET

Very Original, Too!

Tbunny Upper Darby PA   August 26th, 2008 9:59 pm ET

four more months….No more Bush/Cheney policies….

vic nashville,Tn   August 26th, 2008 9:57 pm ET

I am listing the speech

Is he know what he is speaking

He speaking like pastor not like politician

I feel like I am inside the church

Very few attacks

there are lot to attack GOP

Josh   August 26th, 2008 9:57 pm ET

But then, that's why you're the Senior Political Analyst, I suppose.

Josh   August 26th, 2008 9:57 pm ET

And what did he focus upon? Do you even have the attention span to remember that? You say we're the ones that can't deal with more than simple catch-phrases. Is that us or all of you, who can't stop talking for long enough to listen to the full sentences, or (God forbid) paragraphs delivered by speakers?

Or is it that you don't know how to type from the home-row, and have to hunt and peck for "four more months," and get tired of typing so hard?

Voter   August 26th, 2008 9:57 pm ET

Not a good sign when the most the CNN reporter can find to point out is a catchy phrase. Twice.

Newly Independent Former Dem Writing in Hillary   August 26th, 2008 9:57 pm ET

Mark Warner just said we need jobs….all in east or mid-east towns and cities.

Don't you know….people on the east coast have NO CLUE there is anything west besides California!

Proud Oregonian…….we take care of ourselves!

Chuck   August 26th, 2008 9:56 pm ET

OK.. McCain is a sidekick.

Does that make Biden "The Token White Guy?"

Matt B   August 26th, 2008 9:56 pm ET

The ONLY catch phrase the democrats need to utter at the convention or in advertisements is "ARE YOU BETTER OFF NOW THAN YOU WERE EIGHT YEARS AGO ???"

For MOST Americans, the answer is probably a resounding "NO !"

Ryan   August 26th, 2008 9:55 pm ET

John McCain has a proven record of going against his party or reaching across the aisle to get things done, whether it be his opposition to the war in Lebanon under Reagan, or the McCain-Feingold bill. What has Obama done to reach across the aisle?
