DENVER (CNN) – A source close to Mark Warner who helped the Senate candidate craft his convention keynote speech said criticism by senior Democrats that his planned remarks were not partisan enough were off-base – because the Virginia Senate candidate's bi-partisan reputation is precisely why he was asked to speak in the first place.
“That is at odds with the notion that he should be the person ripping the bark off McCain,” this source said.
In a Huffington Post op-ed titled "Please, Democrats, Attack" Begala said he recognized that Warner was running this year in a traditionally Republican state, but that "Democrats should not have put Warner in this bind."
In his speech, Warner will include one of the Obama camp’s main themes – that the Illinois senator represents change versus four more years of the same - but the crux of his speech will be talking about working together with Republicans and the lessons and success he had doing that in Virginia.
WATCH MSNBC, A REAL NEWS NETWORK WITH REAL NEWS COVERAGE.
They won't cut to commercials or spew BS like Wolf Blitzer has been doing.
There is plenty of red meat, CNN just doesn't want you to hear it! They're worse than Fox!
Can anyone articulate Obama's greatest legislative achievement? Just wondering if anyone can come up with something he has done vs. something he has said he would do.
Mark Warner was one of the best Governor's that Va. ever had.He worked across party lines to get Va. out of the mess that our former Gov.Gilmore got us into.Va. was voted best run state in the union under his tenor.
CNN, Please stop talking and just broadcast the convention.
I am really getting tired of all the commentary. I have tuned in and am interested in watching the convention and what I end up watching is news commentators interviewing news commentators. I can see speakers at the convention in the background but do not get to hear what they have to say. The commentators keep talking and questioning each other about the same old things over and over and over and over. It was especially irritating to hear parts of Michelle Obama's speech before she even had a chance to give it. It's getting very tiresome, to say the least. Just SHUT UP FOR A WHILE and let us see and hear the convention!!
A loud shout-out to Voter: paid any attention to McCain's ads? Ralk about fear and smear – all the GOP has to offer and the only thing the GOP does well .... as their sheeple fall into line and fall over the cliff.
Obama has been civil: that does not mean he or his campaign are going to let the GOP get away with their usual lies ...
McCain promised us a civil campaign: guess either he "forgot" ( he does that a lot) or lied – and he does that too!
As for Obama = Karl Marx – the only thing that comes to mind is that ignorance can be cured but stupidity goes on forever ... any more scary words? You haven't used "mushroom cloud" yet ....
I can't believe the number of posts from Obama supporters saying "shut up" to CNN, PUMA, Hillary, or anyone else they don't want to hear at the time. I would never think of telling someone to "shut up"!! Don't these people have any respect for others?? Or are they just that young? Are any of these Obama supporters over the age of 16? Or do they just conduct themselves like self-centered, spoiled teenagers? All of the Obama supporters over the age of 16, please raise your hand. I thought so. No hands.
"Two wrongs, does not make a right"............Just give us the facts, we can sort out the "Snakes", their the one's; offering the APPLES!
Of course, a bipartisan speech goes counter to the Dems liberal, socialist agenda. Keep going Dems, your rapidly alienating about 75% of the country. Obama could actually lose points during this convention!!
"Heartlight", I'm a Republican and I couldn't agree with you more. We need MORE people demonstrating the ability to be bipartisan (not less) and on both sides. We can try to do that ourselves but it would sure help if those in power "walked the walk". The truth is we're ALL Americans, we all care about our country, and we generally care about each other. We've gotten a lot more selfish and self-centered over the years, which partly explains the partisanship (I have to have my way or else) but we CAN get past this.
Good post, Heartlight, and take care.
So, all the Dems are excited about Mark Warner and his uber-entrepreneur status. Have any of you looked at the market cap of Sprint Nextel lately? Its less than half of where it was 2 years ago. I suppose that is GWB's fault.
Markie Mark walked away with the cash and the shareholders (ultimately pensioners and individual stockholders) are left holding the bag.
That, folks, is what we call a transfer of wealth.
We can't hear you, CNN.
come out from the convention this bozo obama could not get any higher percentage in polls? just barely even with mc caine? hillary fans will vote for mc caine so we can see her in 2012
Mark Warner: BOOOOOOORING!!!!!
a speech without courage and without bite .. a self serving speech for his run for the Senate .. where is our anger against the most incompetend admiinistration in our history .. 10,000 mistakes from these clowns that have set us back for 50 years ,.. has not made us safer , wealthier or prouder ... Shame on the Democratic party for not reminding us the tragedy and traversty of the lsat 8 years .. 4 more year of more stupidity
MC cain and Bush are identical cousins
they talk alike
they think alike
you will loose your mind
cause there cousins 2 of a kind
We don't need to attack McCain, for God's sake, McCain is clearly showing early signs of senile dementia. Only a fool would vote for McCain when he is promising to tax the money employers spend on employee health insurance as employee income. That would raise my income tax $2000 a year! McCain is going to raise taxes on employees of every business in America, then he's going to give the money back to use as a rebate and tell us he gave us a tax cut! He's a liar.
Begala and Carville are unbelieveable. They think that hatred is something to aspire to. That Obama should be like Karl Rove. I don't want a democrat we can only win by teaching people to hate republicans the way republicans have trained their supporters to HATE democrats.
CNN, not Barak, Hillary or Warner took a nose dive tonite in my estimation. Somehow Wolfe and gang think they are more newsworthy than the news. Please, let us hear the speeches, experience the convention and draw our own conclusions. Enough of "the best political team on TV". They've fallen in love with themselves, but are falling out of favor with listeners.
