A new poll suggests more Americans feel John McCain is better fit on national security.
DENVER, Colorado (CNN) — A new national poll suggests there’s a reason why Wednesday evening’s theme of the Democratic convention is "Securing America's Future.” Without better marks on foreign policy and national security issues, Barack Obama may have a tough time securing his future in the White House. A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll out Wednesday morning indicates that the American public considers John McCain better than Obama on terrorism and Iraq, and voters consider McCain a stronger leader who would have better judgment in an international crisis. CNN Election Center: Inside the presidential race Fifty-eight percent of those questioned think Obama can handle the responsibilities of commander-in-chief, but that pales in comparison to the 78 percent who feel that way about Senator McCain, R-Arizona.
