DENVER (CNN) - Senator Mary Landrieu (D-Louisiana) won't attend Thursday night's presidential nomination acceptance speech by Senator Barack Obama, reports CNN National Correspondent John King.

With a possible hurricane headed towards her home state, Landrieu is taking the first flight to New Orleans Thursday morning.

Computer models show Tropical Storm Gustav heading straight for the U.S. Gulf Coast, arriving as an unwelcome visitor anywhere from western Florida - which is already waterlogged from last week's Tropical Storm Fay - to Louisiana, where cleanup and repair efforts are still under way three years after Hurricane Katrina slammed into the state.

Gustav is expected to strengthen into a hurricane upon entering the Gulf of

She's not missing much. Just someone trying to make a show of raw power.

You take care of those folks Mary – Barack understands.

No repeats of the Bush/Brownie mess while McCain celebrated his birthday with the people in a hangar when those people should have been in NewOrleans 3 years ago.

    – THANKS

  6. No Hillary = No Obama

I'm sure with Obama's for-profit audio tapes of his policies he will also have an audio tape of his speech, probably a DVD you can buy, probably posters you can buy, and whatever his money men think of. 400 Million and counting, that's what he's campaign has collected – how shameful – while military families struggle, children go hungry in America and homelessness runs rampant. And we are supposed to vote for Obama – hardly.

CNN should be ashamed. The best speech of the evening given by John Kerry–and CNN apparently deemed him irrrelevant. That's why I wash PBS.

It is ridiculous what the republican had done to this country in eight years. Coming from economics surplus from Bill Clinton to deep debt to China. This republican government is handing their white plate over to China and begging to barrow money from them. This has never been the US. Most of the time it always been the other way around. We are the one that used to lend money to the world.
These republican think that they have not done enough to the country and try to scare you away from a chance to take our country back. No way, No how, No McCain.

Who cares about whether Mary Landrieu is there or not??? Her actions were SO incredibly revealing during Katrina. I have never gotten over watching her despicable political maneuvering after the hurricane hit, and I now have no respect for her. She took the best stand for only herself during that tragic catastrophe. Better she not be there to put a damper on a perfectly good convention.
