As a Canadian watching this convention I was very pleased to see America changing their racist ways, Americans are viewed by most Canadians as very racist. I thought, they finally got it, we are all human beings, then suddenly all the talk is about the first black person to be a presidential candidate, the day Americans focus on the person in the running instead of their race, then and only then will they be truly united as a nation. It has been too long coming and I hope the attention changes to Obama the man, instead of Obama the black American.

Watching the news as one delegate, a Hillary Clinton supporter, was interviewed, I was amazed that he expressed that he may switch to McCain because of his disappointment with the Democratic party’s nominee.
There is also news that 30% of Clinton backers may defect to McCain as well.

How could anyone switch his or her vote to someone who stands for a completely different national policy based strictly on emotions.

Our government is in a dysfunctional state because some voters, including delegates, mindlessly voted the candidates into power.

The republicans have been in power way to long. When I came to america in 96 the democrats were in power and things were a thousand times better. My money was always plentiful but now I can not get a job. I can only buy the necessities in life. I tried to get a job with the government but they have a hiring freeze yet they want you to volunteer your time. How is that supposed to put food on the table for my kids? For the love of america vote for change. Vote for universal health care and a secure future for america's kids. I remember how strong the american economy once was. It was so wonderful to watch Hillary make the motion for Barack's nomination… two people who fought an intense battle with many hurt feelings left over came together and made peace in order to represent all people and all our opinions as best they can.

Hi Brain, California and Illinois yielded because if they had cast their votes, Obama would have been over the top before New York could vote. The closer he got to having enough votes, the more states had to yield (new Mexico yielded to Illinois who yielded to New York) so that HIllary could declare Obama by acclimation. It was very cool to watch! Go Mr. Obama!!!!!

Calm down people. We know that it has been a tough primary and it got ugly there for a while. This is now the time to unite and go for the greater good. Although I have been a staunch Hillary supporter and was particularly disappointed with the primary results, there are more important issues that should be addressed, and electing a Democrat this year is the initial step in solving our current problems (economy, energy, education, etc...). I still think that Obama is too green to lead this country, but if Hillary remains in the senate and accomplishes more with a Democratic president in place, I think she should be well positioned in 2012 or 2016.

I don't think that disparaging remarks against PUMA and other Hillary supporters would be productive at this point. Let's try to find some common ground, and help our democratic brothers and sisters to rally behind our nominated candidate for now.
