To citizen: Obama's state legislative record is the most liberal of anyone serving in the state senate - he was groomed by the Senate president (a godfather of sorts who handed bills for Obama to sponsor), Obama voted present over 100+ times and he has NOT served as US Senator for 4 years. He began to run for POTUS about a 1 1/2 years after stepping foot on the Congressional floor - didn't hold committee meetings on Afghanistan, etc. Get a grip.

YOU GET A GRIP KELLY. MCCAIN WILL TAKE AWAY WOMEN'S RIGHTS. I HOPE YOURS IS FIRST TO GO.

More credible than McCain, who caved to Bush's sleazeball attacks eight years ago, and has been sliding toward radical right toadyism ever since. Ford was more 'maverick' than he is. But as MI points out, it'll be overcoming or succumbing to racism that decides this election. McCain has no ideas other than being Bush Light.

For the first time in 40 years, I will either not vote in the Presidential election or perhaps will vote for a third party candidate in protest (have to do more research there first). Neither the Democrats or the Republicans are fielding a candidate worth a tinker's da##. We have an arrogant pretty boy of no substance on one side and a nice but kind of clueless guy on the other side. Neither of them should be President. The last 8 years have been a debacle that has cost this country immeasurably. I worry that the next 4 (maybe more) will be even worse-- no matter which of the 2 evils gets elected.

I am a registered card-carrying Republican. I want every single Republican kicked out of office in November. As a matter of fact, for the first time in my life since I have been registered to vote (over 30 years) I am actually thinking about voting straight party Democrat. The Republican party has become a party of greedy, intolerant, insensitive, misogynistic doddering fools. We are in a war we can't win, we have lost all of credibility with our allies, and we have people in this country that are suffering. Out with them all, dammit. Joe Biden, Pres. Clinton, and Hillary Clinton have thrown down the gauntlet. None of the Republicans have the balls to pick it up as far as I am concerned.

It's pretty evident that there is no pleasing Republicans so why bother? And after Hillary and Bill showed their support for Obama they still want to doubt Obama?

Please help guide this control in this direction and vote Obama/Biden!!

mcsame disgusts me. i voted for bush, and that was a mistake. i will NOT vote for mcsame. obama/biden 08!

Essentially what the Clintons have done - as much as they can turn the ship at this point - is say that they will support Obama as fully as possible. Now it's up to Obama - after he is the nominee - to win. If he doesn't it won't be The Clinton's Fault.

Let's not forget that the US military was reduced by almost 50% under President Clinton. So today, when we haven't got enough troops to go around, it's directly the result of Clinton as C-in-C.

Clinton doesn't need to mention that he was a good president just to make it so. You only have to look at the economic prosperity under his watch to see that it's so. Really, denying any credit to that is just a matter of disliking the guy because you're Republican -- just like you said in your very first sentence.

Clinton always could give a speech. Problem was, there was nothing to back it up, especially when it came to national defense. I don't think the Democrats have anyone that is strong on national defense, unless you count marching the troops across the White House lawn.

Senator Obama must be doing something right though. The strategy of ads from the "strayed" talk express to try to play up Democratic Party divisions has backfired badly. They ended up, through all of the hype they have fed to the media about the Clintons and the Convention just focused more attention on two extremely strong, extremely Pro-Obama speeches.
That would explain the panicked VP leak from the Mccain camp right before Senator Bidens speech to try to draw fire back to their camp.

WHY can Obama NOT be a great commander in chief ? Is not the best qualifications to be commander in chief to respect the troops when they come home and most important to NOT use them as cannon fodder in a nonsensical war as in Iraq. It seems he meets these important qualifications.

All I know is that we have Mc Cain, Obama, Hillary and Biden running off their mouths about how bad things are and what they intend to do about it. Hello? Are they not all Senators? Leaders who have been in a position to effect change and yet they have not. And now....since they have failed at effecting change in the "horrible" years of the Bush presidency, they are suddenly prepared to take that failure to a higher level and move into the White House. We Americans are basically stupid.

Ed -

Please tell the rest of your CNN colleagues to lighten up! Seriously, I've never seen so much joy and exuberance from reporters at a political convention in my entire life. Are they delegates in disguise or what??

Thanks.

And the political ignorance rears its ugly head yet again among both sides. Maybe you all should truly look at why we are where we are! It is because of these partisan attacks that both sides lob at each other. No one listens anymore because of it.

Both sides need to stop the attacks.

It is ridiculous what the republican had done to this country in eight years. Coming from economics surplus from Bill Clinton to deep debt to China. This republican government is handing their white plate over to China and begging to barrow money from them. This has never been the US. Most of the time it always been the other way around. We are the one that used to lend money to the world.
These republican think that they have not done enough to the country and try to scare you away from a chance to take our country back. No way, No how, No McCain.

Get a grip.
