McCain is reportedly on the verge of announcing his VP pick.

DENVER (CNN) – John McCain has decided on his running mate and will officially reveal his pick Friday in Ohio, multiple sources tell CNN.

A knowledgeable Republican source says there was a big meeting of McCain's advisors today that helped settle the matter.

Liberals, you do not need to respond to this story rudely. It is about our candidate. You got your time in the sun, now let us have ours. After all, Senator McCain is choosing the 47th Vice President of the United States. Don't you all have some Bush-bashing, McCain-hating worthless convention to predictably watch anyway.

It is sad how McSame alway inject himself into Obama events. He is only making his choice to steal the media from Obama becasue the media pay him not attention. This man will do anything to get attention just like a kid wanting his mother attentions. Also, McSame is in love with Obama and doesn't know how to tell Obama so he keep picking on Obama.

Value Voter - OH   August 27th, 2008 10:42 pm ET

This is it. I'm a Republican and I have been all my life. I believe in America, am proud to call it home, and know it's the best place on Earth. I begrudgingly supported McCain after he got the nomination. But after the last few weeks of his tv ads, his selling out American workers, and his too many houses to count, I’ve been on the ropes. I’m already considering Obama, and I’ve been impressed this week by the Democrats. If McCain chooses Romney, I’ll jump ship.

Mario Van Essche   August 27th, 2008 10:42 pm ET

His timing shows that he is afraid, very afraid of what the other side is saying at their convention. Obama picked a VP that can be president. McCain is picking one that can take primetime away from the democrats.
What kind of experience is that?

Sorry McCain.. Hillary brought me back to perspective

OBAMA-BIDEN ALL THE WAY!!!   August 27th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

LOL! Please let it be Lieberman! Or Huckabee! Anything to help defeat McCain. Pick someone who will turn off a few percent of hard-core Republicans.

Also, I hope Ron Paul makes a lot of noise at the GOP convention, and a lot of delegates nominate him for president. Then I hope that there's a Republican PUMA contingent, made up of those who think that the GOP unfairly crowned their messiah, McCain, while totally disrespecting the Ron Paul supporters in the primaries! Can McCain make nice with Ron Paul supporters, or will there be Republican PUMAs?

Evidently campaigning on merit of ideas isn't quite enough for intelligence and good judgment (i.e., Obama) to crush the opposition (McCain). So, if some Republican disunity arises, I'll be grateful.

American's brought all the problems on themselves. They reacted to the times and when the bubble burst like in the 80's they blame the government the president and everybody but themselves. Shame on them. We need John McCaine to turn us around in the right direction. Obama cannot do that. We do need atomic power wind mills and other resources as well. it was the democrats that said 10 years ago that it would take 10 years for it to help us. Now because of them we will have to wait 10 more years pehaps more if the Democrats have their way..... McCain in 08!!!!!!!!!!!

Some friendly advice from an outsider but China, Russia and Europe can't wait for Obama to win so they can exploit 'Change' and benefit from appeasement in the name of popularity.

America needs something more than a sound-bite 3 year senator to lead them. Or is that a 36 year seasoned veteran of the Senate and (aka the same old Washington)?

How cheap and desperate to make this announcement when you see your campaign getting pummelled from stage. A stronger gesture would have been to wait. But the Dems go it right this time. Bush is a disaster. If you're going to run deficits like this, you're not conservative. You're just short-sighted.

David   August 27th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

The timing is obviously done to take the headlines Friday morning. I think it’s important to note that this is another attempt by McCain to ensure that the American people do not focus on the serious matters that Barack is presenting and instead once again trying to ensure that the headlines are about anything except policy matters and understanding Barack’s actual stances (as opposed to those skewed by McCain’s campaign). McCain's biggest fear is that Obama's actual policies are publicly known and he's found another political trick to continue ensuring that the media does not focus on Obama's policies.

Todd   August 27th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

wouldnt be interested even if he picked Jesse "The Body" Ventura

Jason   August 27th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

Sources say that 2008 McCain is going to pick the much younger 1973 McCain. This will not only add youth to the ticket, but allow for 1973 McCain to retell his not often heard POW story.

The only problem, is that the two don't agree on any issues.
