From

DENVER (CNN) — In his first remarks since accepting the Democratic Party’s vice presidential nomination, Joe Biden told the Pennsylvania delegation Thursday morning “we cannot win without winning Pennsylvania.”

“Ya brung me up,” the Pennsylvania-born Biden also told the ballroom in a hotel on the outskirts of Denver.

“Scranton never leaves you, and Pennsylvania never leaves you,” said the Delaware senator, who is sometimes called Pennsylvania’s third senator. “I probably campaigned in Pennsylvania I can’t tell you how many times, literally hundreds of times, hundreds of times, because part of my heart has always been there.”

He stumbled trying to say “the Obama-Biden campaign” but once he got it out, quipped, “I’m getting used to this.”

Biden called the ticket a natural fit, saying the campaign is about trusting the people who are “a hell of a lot smarter you think they are.” After reading a quote from his speech announcing his 1972 run for the U.S. Senate, Biden joked that Obama could have delivered it “were he alive in 1972.”

“No, he was alive, he was alive,” Biden laughed. “By the way, if I hear one more time he was 11 years old when I went to the Senate, I’m going to smack somebody.”

Biden, who regularly tells crowds he doesn’t use hyperbole, lived up to his reputation for occasionally adding color to his accounts.

“There was somewhere between six and 10 busloads of people from Scranton who just spontaneously got on a bus and came down to Wilmington, Delaware to the train station,” said Biden of his 1972 speech. “There were hundreds of thousands of people.”

Barack Obama and Biden head to Pennsylvania on Friday, where Biden says they paln to devote an “inordinate amount of resources.”

“You’re going to have all the resources this campaign has available to us. That’s the good news. And the bad news is you’re going to have a whole hell of a lot of me, because I’m coming home.”

Ex-Republican for Obama   August 28th, 2008 5:04 pm ET

Obama now leads in virtually all polls done this week. Not by as much as we would hope. Polls will not elect our President however, we will.

Let's be certain we prove these polls wrong. Let's show up in force and push the margin into double digits, so we can tell them once and for all:

"NEVER EVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF HOPE AGAIN!! Never again give us a senile out of touch fool as a substitute for American family values and a world we look forward to living in. Never again fail us. Never again GOP!"

I thought Obama, the Democratic party……and CNN said he doesn't need Pennsylvania??? Guess that only mattered on the air right after Hillarys big win!

America for Obama   August 28th, 2008 4:59 pm ET

Dead CNN, please put up a "Ticker" about how the Bush Administration encouraged Georgia to attack Russian interests inside of it's territory, so that John McCain & the GOP could exploit the inevitable conflict for political gain, so that WE the American people can comment on the importance of such an explosive issue.

Thank You,

America For Obama

Jim - a Catholic   August 28th, 2008 4:47 pm ET

Obama and Biden are a perfect presidential team! Obama has demonstrated superb judgment in his first presidential decision – selecting his running mate.

Biden will be the FIRST Catholic vice president in US history. He connects solidly with voters in states like Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan – all of which will be in the Democrats' column this election!

PUMA 4 HILL   August 28th, 2008 4:29 pm ET

We are still talking about Hillary because she is the most qualified and was the truly elected one by the people, for the people.

Obama stole this election – and if you don't believe it you are either a part of it or you don't know what happened in the caucuses. I've followed it and witnessed it first hand. Disgraceful.

If you Obamabuttheads knew what really happened you would know that Hillary was treated horribly and is the real winner.

WE WON'T STOP TALKING ABOUT HILLARY SO GET USED TO IT.

Waiting for 2012….

Elizabeth   August 28th, 2008 4:27 pm ET

Since when was it a prerequisite for the President to have served in the military? Personally, McCain's persistent use of his POW status is getting old. You would think someone who was supposedly as "enlightened" as he claims to be would see war as a last resort.
The man is just so disappointing. He has nothing to say so he resorts to attack ads.

To Professor – your zealots put Bush in the White House, you should be ashamed of yourselves. The garbage you spew is hardly Christian. The right is just a bunch of hypocrites. And since when was being liberal a bad thing. Read the dictionary, it means "open-minded" . Hardly describes you. You people live in the Stone Age.

Angela from PA   August 28th, 2008 4:22 pm ET

When is Obama going to stand up and be the leader he claimes to be- he can't keep riding the coat tails of the Clintons or BIden either. Obama needs to come here himself and explain the comment – his own words- " bitter, cling to guns and religion" Obama is the nominee- he has to win this election- he wanted the job… he got it- he could have sealed a victory last week by picking Clinton as VP but his ego is too big for that.

PA is waiting- we are still waiting for an explanation of his negative comments towards the people of PA. Obama has a lot of work to do in this state!

PUMA 4 HILL   August 28th, 2008 4:22 pm ET

So Hillary was right?

Of course she was right. As Ohio goes and PA goes, so goes the nation.

You blew it DNC. BIG TIME.

Let the voters decide next time you bunch of insiders and self-serving liberals.

McCain is more qualified than Obama boy, it's that simple.

karen   August 28th, 2008 4:15 pm ET

My goodness, people have short memories. Remember when Hillary was winning the later primaries and after EVERY win, Obama would come out with some 'huge announcement' to take away her thunder.

John McCain seems to have more common sense. How is education going to improve if all Obama cares about are the teachers and not the opportunities for the students…John McCain was strong on Green way before Obama made any case for it….I´m a fence sitter…Obama has all the intangibles…John McCain is playing the game and I expect him to focus harder and faster during the debates. Obama is trying his hardes to look the part right now. McCain is relaxing, feigning, and doesn´t have the expectations that Obama does. I sorta´feel that more uneducated people are voting for Obama because he appeals to emotions more than intellect. Obama has a lot to prove…plus, there weren´t that many great anecdotes said about Obama in this convention…that is his weakness. Obama has to prove he has practical plans. If he pays off the national debt intelligently…I will vote for him. I see no signs of him doing that.

Stephina   August 28th, 2008 4:02 pm ET

Actually, Obama can't win period!!!

Some have asked why Clinton supporters want to vote for McCain??

To send a message loud and clear to the DNC that sexism won't be tolerated and we are not going to let your boy "Obama" get elected!!!

Since the Dems took over in Congress –

They have only been "in charge" for about 2 years. Bush and the GOP had both congress and the presidency and started us on this path. A narrow 1 vote majority is not enough. It takes 60 votes to block a filibuster or veto. Didn't you learn that in grade school or Rush never told you that?

The war in Iraq and the Bush foreign policy are the reason to blame for Oil prices.

He has taken his country back so almost complete communism. The elections in his country are a farse! Like anyone with a any common sense would listen to him.

On the other note…I live in PA and believe it will be a toss up to see which canidate gets this state. McCain will hold more then people think. It is gonna be an interesting run.

ron   August 28th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

come on Obama tell me again when you make your speech from your NFL stadium instead of the lowly Pepsi center how you feel my pain. tell us all about how we have a right to the American dream but don't forget to tell us the part about if we become richer than your family we will be ridiculed by your party. tell us all about the money you will give us for higher education so we can pay those enormous tuition fees at the for profit colleges and university who will surely raise said tuitions now that the government will be paying for them. tell us how you are not taxing these enormous windfall profits or at the very lease ask them to lower tuitions based on these profits yeah you tell us. it's what you don't say that scares us sen. Obama.

Jose Vazquez   August 28th, 2008 3:32 pm ET

I have a question to all of those people that are against Corporations, who will you be employed by? How do you intend to make a living? It is coporations that allow people to make money. The more profit they make the more employees they hire the more money is moving in our economy. Whne tax rates are raised on coroporations they stop hiring and in fact might have to start laying people off to keep the bottom line healthy. So any one that is saying that big corporations are bad have no idea what they're talking about.

Only McCain   August 28th, 2008 3:31 pm ET

Here is how I see it. Since the Dems took over in Congress, our gas and food prices have skyrocketed and our booming housing market crashes. Their approval rating is 9%, but we want to elect a member of the majority party from the same Congress. How is Obama different from any other Democrat in Washington? I also keep hearing things are going to change but not how they are going to change. How are you going to change things, Mr. Obama?

MCCAIN 08   August 28th, 2008 3:30 pm ET

He would if he had Hillary. I'm so glad Obama is going to lose to McCain. Don't like McCain, but VERY pissed that the DNC saw to it to pick the weakest candidate… yet again.

Kerry had 89% of democrat support in 2004. Obama has 80%. And we all know what happened to Kerry. Bye Bye Obama.

I am a resident of Pahokee, Florida, and a proud "Democrat”. I am out everyday registering new voters, these voters are excited and want to be part of history in the making. They are from all cultures, race and generations, and they want Obama to be the 2009 President of the United States of America . Please, do the voters in Florida a good deed, take the theme for the late James Brown: Please, Please, Please; stop giving the State of Florida to McCain. Because that's not going to happen. This is not 2000/2004,it’s a new day and different type of embracement. “ Can Obama, taking Florida by storm? YES HE CAN, AND YES HE Will"

This article, in my opinion, shows that politics has become a game – a game that involves accumulating as many states as possible, most importantly, by any means necessary. People no longer believe in a candidates view, values, morals, &c. &c. but believe in the words that he/she has at the moment. What kind of country has the United States become, where citizens do not vote for a candidate but for fleeting, ephemeral ideals that, as political history has shown, are not enforced. The facts are right there, both McCain and Obama flip-flop consistently without stopping on various issues. When Obama was leading in the polls he portrayed himself as a very complete candidate who honored McCain while McCain used Britney Spear and Paris Hilton related ads attacking Obama. However, when the tables turned Obama showed that he was no different than McCain, with his ad campaign. The US needs a candidate whose flip-flopping rate does not change with the polls, and whose views are consistent with his true beliefs. Where is the FDR of our time? Where is the Abraham Lincoln of our time? Instead we have two educated candidates who seem to be great until their popularity index slightly drops.

Al   August 28th, 2008 3:07 pm ET

I'm pleased a man of color is finally a real candidate for president. I just wish it was someone else. He's toast without Hillary as VP. He made a fatal flaw of choosing a 'safe' Biden as VP over the 'risky' Hillary in what would have put him way over the top in November. He's so deeply indoctrinated in afrocentrism, socialism, and whatever other -ism you want to add that the vast body of the voting public just ain't gonna go there. Moreover I see every four years at the convention, the composition the Dem party is made of… an amalgamation of any and every fringe element in society and the flakiness inherently so. I have no common ground in that structure nor do I sympathize. I regret McCain didn't beat W in 2000 primaries, because I always thought he has had a better head on his shoulders.

BK   August 28th, 2008 3:06 pm ET

PA is not going to forget Obama going to the rich in SF and telling them that they are bitter and clinging to their guns and religion.

This country is broke, and paying out millions and millions of dollars for politcal parties to throw bashes like this, is a good place to start saving some money. 50 million to Denver for security this week, another 18 million, which the Dems have added an additional 50 million to, is just sickening and does not make me think either party cares about the spending our government is doing.

Obama upholds perverted notions such as abortion and sodomite marriage. McCain is pro-life and opposes sodomite marriages. Clearly, voting for Obama is wrong, and voting for McCain is right.

The most important issue in this election is America's relationship with GOD. That relationship is dying! All nations that forsake Biblical
Christianity will be destroyed, and that includes the USA. The election of Obama for President will move us closer to annihilation. The election for McCain will postpone our judgment a little longer.

Dear Pennsylvanians and fellow Americans, please, please, please vote for McCain!

It's simple, just go to the ER since you can't be refused emergency treatment. Yep, that's the plan.

Great plan McBush !!.

For what it's worth, the Gallup daily tracking poll has Obama up by six points.

McCain'08   August 28th, 2008 2:43 pm ET

Yeah Franky and what exactly is your obama going to do for you? All we see is flip flop and others having to tell us what obama really meant to say….
Why not go ask my family in the military how they feel about Obama wanting to cut funding…

And I am well aware Franky-I was a democrat until obama…

Proud American   August 28th, 2008 2:40 pm ET

We will win. America is awake now!!

Desmond Sequeira   August 28th, 2008 2:39 pm ET

Putin's allegation that the Georgia conflict was orchestrated by the White House to benefit McSame is entirely believable – for the obvious reasons. The only way McSame can win is by people reacting out of fear instead of reaching for their highest aspirations.

Lisa   August 28th, 2008 2:38 pm ET

Biden's ok but he's no Clinton!!!

BK   August 28th, 2008 2:38 pm ET

Clinton had a lot of experience he was a governor for 12 years and he said what he had to say. Obama has never run anything or made any tough decisions. Obama is a motivational speaker with no experience and voted 130 times present. That is why he is always scripted and has been kept away from town hall meetings with McCain. After tonight the teleprompters go away and you will see what you are voting for.

Franky   August 28th, 2008 2:38 pm ET

"Democrats now in control of Congress, and you blame McCain?"

Well……yeah!! He does have his peeps with him! What is he gonna do, huh? Tell me what?? Because last time I checked, I'll tell you what the GOP did. I could give you a list if you want and from the Dems. You compare to see how the country has fared in the last 8 years…

Hey, I look for facts, not solutions…

Zachary   August 28th, 2008 2:36 pm ET

It's funny how people keep saying that the DNC is wasting taxpayer money. First of all…. Hello? Have you been paying attention the past eight years? and second of all you're just wrong.

Franky   August 28th, 2008 2:35 pm ET

By the way guys, are any of you gonna watch the speech?? I don't know but I may not watch it. Don't gte me wrong, it should be interesting but I don't know, I think because I'm a Conservative, LOL!! Plus, I hardly paid attention to the Dems convention. Here and there I seen a couple of speeches but overall, this is a job that they gotta do. I'm more focused about later on. If it were up to me, I'll be like, "Forget this convention! Let's just do this!" But then again, is just me, LOL!!!

But it should be fun for him, is a pretty good momnent for Dems. I'll just see them next week.

scott   August 28th, 2008 2:35 pm ET

You dem's are amazing. You remind me of a bunch of lost sheep.

The only reason you want change is because you can;t get off your butt and make the change yourself. This election reminds me of when Jimmy Carter ran for president. The same "lost sheep" believed what he said and look at what happened to this country.

Obama is the same as Carter. A big sheep herder to a bunch a winny sheep that have no direction. Maybe you losers will get what you have been asking for.

BABABABA CNN has not published my last 7 so I doubt this will go.

Cheney has a Lot of experience….. that turned out just great!!!!!

Clinton had little experience.
He balanced the budget and kept us out of illegal wars.

Ron Ft. Myers   August 28th, 2008 2:29 pm ET

I am disappointed that BO chose Biden. In case no one has looked at Biden, he is also an old man with very similar credentials as McCain. They both spent their adult lives on the dole working in politics and neither has set any records of achievement. The most powerful tool BO had against McCain was his age,ie failing health and he goes and selects a person in his mid 60's. There goes the leverage, not to mention the Rep. will now be plastering commercials all over the media quoting all the wonderful things Biden said about McCain previously. Biden's just another parasite in Washington. I am voting for BO because he has limited Washington experience, ie he hasn't had enough time to become contaminated. Now he has seated a rotten apple next to him that will only cause him grief.

Did anyone really draw a correlation between Bush and people that have higher mortgages than value in their homes. In Florida, we realize that these upside down scenarios are the result of investors driving up the prices artificially. That includes white and blue collar investors. Bush screwed up 98% of what he touched, but come on Biden, don't blame him for all the mortgage fraud, etc. That is walking away from reality.

On another note, it has always amazed me how individuals go into politicsa with small net worths and emurge rich. And on top of that, they ALL relate to the blue collar guy!

mary, colorado springs   August 28th, 2008 2:29 pm ET

Having to decide whether to vote for Obama/Biden or McCain/?? is like making a choice between filet Mignon and hot dogs. At least O/B know where they are going. McCain can only talk about where he's been: a POW camp in Vietnam, and thinks that should win him a free ticket to the White House. He was in the POW camp so long he has absorbed their scare tactics and is trying to use them to his advantage in his campaign. Show ads that he thinks will scare the living hell out of the voters. It won't work, McBrainless.

Obama/Biden all the way to 1600 Pennsylvania.

Las Vegas moved to Denver? From the McMansions that broke America in territory as well as the idiotic side of Hollywood, both take up too much space in the minds of the uniformed spectator. Obama, don’t you need to keep your hubris in some kind of check? Locking yourself in the gaudiness of capitalism is not change and it is surely not ecological. You will look like a LITTERBUG under those too big forged columns.

Brooke in PA   August 28th, 2008 2:29 pm ET

Well by all accounts, Joe Biden just lost the Presidency for Obama by that comment. Because I will tell you, he will LOSE PA. The only good news is he'll keep it closer than he did in the Primary. First Dem to lose this state in 20 years. Way to go. Hillary would have won this state by 20 points. Nice job, DNC.

Tony   August 28th, 2008 2:28 pm ET

Thanks for deleting my comment yet again, CNN. Nice to see that you're censoring conservative views and shamelessly backing Obama.

Dave   August 28th, 2008 2:27 pm ET

Oh well to bad, Obama should have put Hillary on the ticket. PA would have been his. His own arrogance and self centered ego prevented him from doing the right thing. I can't wait to see his face when he looses to McCain.

john   August 28th, 2008 2:26 pm ET

Obama, yes you need us. But you wont get my vote and my families' and my close friends here in Penn. It is payback time. Dems need to accept the consequence for nominating Obama. 4 year of MCCain is not so bad comparing to 8 year of obama, the thief, who stole the nomination and who does not have the ability to deliver what he promised. Mccain 2008… hilary 2012

FL voter   August 28th, 2008 2:26 pm ET

To all voters in Ohio, Michigan and PA. According to the reports I read, you are having trouble with job loss. Foreclosures are at all time highs, even though your states didn't have the speculators. Now, all of this happened during George Bush's watch. Why do you think it would be different under McCain? If you look at his voting record, you see that he supports the same policies that have been hurting your great states for the past 7 1/2 years. Isn't it time to strike back against those that harm you. There is no need to fear any longer. Vote to bring back jobs. Vote to raise your economy. Vote Obama!

Stephen Bates   August 28th, 2008 2:25 pm ET

The lot of you are sad.

Nothing concrete to attack Biden with.

You critics are cowards who clearly can't debase him on the issues, so you turn to smearing, whether its his hairstyle(who cares! i'd hate the be bald too), his speech style (he DID grow up with a stutter after all), or ONE QUOTE in ONE SPEECH he plagiarized unwittingly 20 YEARS AGO. Well guess what, the guy he borrowed the quote from, Neil Kinnock, all but endorsed Biden this time around, so I guess that criticism rings hollow now too.

How many of you who doubt his pull in Pennsylvania actually LIVE in Pennsylvania?

Joe Biden is a decent man, a great american, and I have no doubt if elected he'll take the terrible precedent set by Dick Cheney and turn it around, being one of the best Vice Presidents we've ever had.

So go ahead and whine if you want, PUMA cockroaches.

Obama chose Biden because a Vice President shouldn't just be chosen to win a campaign, but to GOVERN. Obama is thinking ahead. Something a lot of you don't have the ability to do.

NO more Obama   August 28th, 2008 2:23 pm ET

You decide who PA but remember when watching tonight-someone else wrote that speech for Obummer and that someone who has a stake in this is counting on you to be taken in but how much can Obummer really promise AND deliver to his fans? Not much from his record so far……
McCain is the real man for the job. I trust John McCain!

Ryan   August 28th, 2008 2:22 pm ET

Oh come on people… this was Biden trying to rally his "home" state not a freakin DNC strategy meeting.

I'm guessing voters in every state will be told "We can win without [insert city/state you're currently]" – by both parties.

rose, texas   August 28th, 2008 2:22 pm ET

that's probably all they r going 2 do is make history , their not thinking about the issues that r @ stake here. biden i don't think will help obama, i will b very surprise if they pull it off. i guess we better start looking ahead 4 more long years of the next bush.i think hillary would have done more 4 the obama ticket then biden. independent have not made up mind just yet, guess i'll wait till the debates.

George   August 28th, 2008 2:22 pm ET

Did you notice how the media treated Clintons while Hillary was running and pushed her out of the race? Did you notice some of the phrases that they were using like Clintonian, Clinton machine, and self-serving Clintons. Now that she is out, they have nothing but nice things to say about them. They are hoping that the same Clintons, once again, save the party. Hillary, say NO for the love of your country. Remember that your country always comes before your party.

JD   August 28th, 2008 2:22 pm ET

Obama's got it. McCain is a fool.

Bryan from Gettysburg   August 28th, 2008 2:22 pm ET

If Obama wants my vote, I need to hear actual plans, not pipe dreams. I am still undecided, but all I see Obama as is a wonderful speaker. I am sure he can rally people together, but I need to hear plans that will work now. Also, he stumbled when Georgia was invaded by Russia, which also makes me start to believe maybe he isn't ready for the international state. Please, Obama, don't make me vote for McCain. I would like to see a change and Obama promises that, but so have so many other candidates before him. This will be a very interesting race in PA. Also, Biden being from PA won't sway me either way, even though I know he will try and use that to his advantage.

Obama/Biden   August 28th, 2008 2:20 pm ET

McCain like Bush will bring more threat to our country. Obama/Biden ticket is very strong on national security and Biden as well as Obama is well respected around the world. Obama has better judgment on every single issues that we need on a president than mccain. That is why we must vote Democratic this November to prevent a second 9/11 and have someone who is ready for what ever decission to defend our national security in case of any plot.
Do not listen to the republican scare tactics and believe anything they have to say. The republican is the party we as voters should stay away from this November. They have done enough to our country and the economy and we cannot afford for more years of economic disasters and begging China to lend us money.

Nick   August 28th, 2008 2:19 pm ET

The importance of PA is overstated because of the media's east coast bias. Obama could win the election without PA if he sweeps Big Ten Country, which is highly plausible considering the DNC is now headquartered in Chicago.
Please Post CNN.

The Dems left two of the most important items out of their McCain survival kit.

#1 Nose plugs in case the old man can't control his bowels
#2. Polygraph devices to attach to all the repug speakers once they get on stage

I am a white person. I was at a rally for Senator Obama last night. It was history and I wanted to be a part of it. However, an African American expressed to me that this was a "black thing". It was a sad moment. I reminded him that I support Senator Obama because he is a good person.

And something in me also blurted out that Senator Obama is half white and was raised by mostly white women.

RIGHT AWAY I FELT BAD ABOUT SAYING IT. I HOPE WE CAN MOVE BEYOND THIS RACE ISSUE IN OUR LIFETIME.

As someone who grew up near Scranton, Joe Biden being called PA's 3rd Senator is news to me. I can't recall anytime he had anything to do with the city. But hey, they need PA to win, so if Joe can go from saying Obama's not qualified to claiming he's 'The' ONE, what's one more stretch of the truth. Not like anyone in the media is going to call them on it.

Rebecca   August 28th, 2008 2:01 pm ET

I think McCain is trying to pull every single thing out of his pockets since he can't face the harsh reality that he's already lost this election. I've noticed that I don't really understand the issues McCain is trying to push and I understand Obama's more because Obama is trying to stick to the issues in his ad, whereas McCain is using dirty tactics.

These guys are Warren G. Harding all over again. For those Bush/Mccain voters who don't know you can look that up on the internet too. Well McCain can't look it up because he does not know how to use the internet.

jimmy   August 28th, 2008 1:53 pm ET

Joe Biden was born in Scranton, PA, but left it for Delaware where hs is a 6 term Senator 65 years going on 66 this year. if they get Elected
he will be 70 in 2012 and 74 in 2016. At that age he will be older than Ronald Reagan when he ran for president. It looks like Hillary Clinton will still have a shot at being elected President of the U.S.
That is of course dependent on Obama-Biden ticket gets elected.
If Experience and judgement are what Americans want , McCain and Biden have more of it than Obama whom I thought should have
picked Hillary whose millions of supporters would have easily put him over the top.. Now Obama would have to climb the mountain on
his own merits and there aint much there. Will his Rhetoric do it?
we will have to see. We heard he is surrounding himself with ten ( obviously well known political figures) people at his accptance speech stage which looks like a Roman imperial throne room.

Did you all hear that one of McCain's top advisors said that there are really NO uninsureds in the U.S. All an uninsured person has to do is go to the emergency room for medical care; eventually their bill will be taken care of by the goernment.

What an incredible idiot. I wonder if he speaks for John McCain. The McCain campaign has already said that John McCain doesn't speak for John McCain.

And Tim and Shari, yep, I said that right from the get-go about Georgia. It's incredible that most of the U.S. population doesn't realize that the Georgians instigated that conflict. Guess we can tell who the MSM is in the tank for, and it isn't BO.

McCain is following the Karl Rove tactics and Bush is now following Obama's judgement. This is one of the many reasons why has lost the Republican supporters he had in 2000. McCain not only lacks judgement he also seems not to have the ability to use logic and common sense. Logic and common sense should tell McCain he can't keep using that some old tired and worn out POW story which has nothing to do with the economy which again, he knows nothing about. McCain doesn't know too much about nothing and nothing from nothing leaves nothing.

PA do the right thing and vote for McCain. All of my relatives in PA are going to vote for McCain and these are lifelong democrats. Why – he has no experience and his anti American ties.

susie   August 28th, 2008 1:43 pm ET

I am from Michigan and I will not vote for Obama. He really threw his weight around in May when he wouldn't allow the delegates full vote. In Colorado, he change his mind. Too late. He has to much "Chicago" type politics in him. I do not want the government to take over my life and that is what is going to happen if Obama gets elected. Too many soldiers died in the wars to protect our freedom to have it all thrown away with his election. He seems to mock what the majority of the country stands for.

Judy   August 28th, 2008 1:42 pm ET

You know if McCain used his time to promote himself and the republican party instead of slamming Obama and the democratic party he might have a lot more people ready to vote for him. I for one, will not vote for a person who spends his time slamming people. This business overpowers any statements pertaining to our country. I cannot justify voting for that kind of person. He needs to use his time more effectively. Yes, I know that Obama has also used this tactic on occasion. To me, they are showing me their true colors. I don't want someone in the Oval Office like that. We have had too many already.

Steve in Madison, WI – I'm in Madison too – and I wanted to let you know – I've TRIED to talk issues on here – you all keep saying anyone not voting for Obama is racist because they can't come up with reasons to vote for McCain. Every time I try to outline my reasons the CNN Moderators block me out – not sure why, I haven't even used words as strong as 'moron', must be the fact that I'm actually making a point…..this one may not get through either.

John in Binghamton NY   August 28th, 2008 1:41 pm ET

Yes, its true.

CNN please don't fall for old man McLame's dirty tricks tonight and air his garbage for free.

BTW here are the facts about intelligence and candidate from Gallup Aug 18-24:

High school or less O: 42 M: 45
some college non grad O: 42 M: 47
college grad O: 48 M: 46
Postgraduate education O: 56 M: 38

Its all there. People with an education support Obama and people who couldn't cut it in school support McCain.

Chi4Obama   August 28th, 2008 1:40 pm ET

Why are people STILL commenting about Hillary Clinton on this blog…..Have we not moved beyond her.

Even Hillary herself as moved on. I think some of these people need to grow up, and get back to reality.

John Kaleto   August 28th, 2008 1:40 pm ET

Let's not forget Biden is a plagiarist.

www.votesmartly2008.com   August 28th, 2008 1:39 pm ET

well did not Obama Loose Pen. in the Primary so I Guess they will Loose the presidency also! Biden as VP and No Answers Obama as the President, what a ticket!

Patrick   August 28th, 2008 1:39 pm ET

I like Biden. Didn't know much about him before, but he's a funny guy. Good at putting himself down, a real natural feel to him. He'll be a good VP.

Sharon   August 28th, 2008 1:39 pm ET

Why would Putin say it is our fault that he invaded Georgia. Why is Putin involved in America politics. The more important question is why Putin wants Obama to win? There is alot of leaders (enemies) who want Obama to win? Why!

bill mullis   August 28th, 2008 1:39 pm ET

biden obama you can win all states if you come out swinging this is a lieing munch of mcbush people that will throw mud just to see if their lies stick and thanks to cnn a lot TOO MANY HAVE STUCK

jimmy   August 28th, 2008 1:38 pm ET

The Clinton's have done their job ..Obama will probably acknowledge them tonight with their stirring endorsement of Obama.
Joe Biden has all the experience Obama desperately needs his Rhetoric has attracted many voters in this election , BUT Americans
will soon determine who has the better judgemabt and experience
when you take a good look at each candidates RESUME'.
We all watched the saddleback civil forum where hoth candidates were asked the same questions by Rick Warren. And the results were just unbelievable . Obama stumbled and mumbled while
Mccain was forcefull and deliberate. We will see in the three presidential debates if Obama is really ready to be Commander in Chief of our country. Obama will have to do better than his long winded thetoric to convince us to elect him.

Duke   August 28th, 2008 1:38 pm ET

PA will go Dem. The Repubs bluster the most when they know they are in trouble. Well, they are in trouble, the presidency is their last chance to have any impact at all. Both houses of Congress are gone and with the presidency lost the Repubs will be in the wilderness for the next 8 years. Turnabout is fair play, the Repubs have spent 8 years destroying this country now someone has to clean it all up again.

They are fighting hard but they see the writing on the wall. Alot of them will be retiring and moving on. Probably time for a new generation of Repubs anyway. The party is going to have to move to the middle instead of the hard right.

Add to all of that the fact that McCain's IQ is about as high as that of a lima bean and you get the picture. The Repubs understand this also and it is why they have taken over his campaign and scripted him so much. They know he cannot stand or think on his own. They hope they can somehow cloak his weakness and pull this thing off. I don't underestimate the Repubs they know how to get the maximum out of the minimum, but man, McCain is very very minimum. I don't know how much the Repubs can squeeze from him.

The man can't think at high noon, what do you think his mind will be like at 3AM.

Obama 08
and if not
W (shiesty) Bush / Dick (shoot you in the face) Cheney
I have more confidence in these 2 than I do McCain.

People make no sense   August 28th, 2008 1:38 pm ET

Any McCain supporter –

Please help me understand what type of judgement or leadership John McCain has that has shown to be great?

He's been in government for how long, and the only prosperous years for all Americans' were when Clinton was in the white house. Where was mr. maverick during the horrible Reagon, Bush 1 and Bush 2 years? Where was his great judgement and leadership?

What has he done to curtail the Bush adminstration and all the corrupt things they have done? How is his judgement helping all Americans?

He runs his whole platform off of being a POW. Although that is honorable that he served in that capacity. How does someone being captured illustrate a strong grasp for national security? He spent almost his entire military career incarcerated.

With McCain we already know what we are getting. NOTHING. No matter how you spin it, dress it, or explain it he brings nothing to the table that matters to the everyday American.

We don't know what Obama will bring, his resume is not that good but it is not tarnished either. Some of the greatest people in the world were amatures before being great. The definition of insanity is what…? I'll let you finish the quote and answer why McCain will not get my vote.

MCCAIN WILL WIN   August 28th, 2008 1:38 pm ET

OH COME ON PEOPLE WAKE UP OBAMA HAS NO CHANCE TO WIN THERE ARE WAY TO MANY SMART AMERICANS OUT THERE FOR THAT. WE WILL ALL GET BLOWN UP IF OBAMA WINS DUHHHHHHHHHHHH

Black Truth AZ   August 28th, 2008 1:38 pm ET

Wouldn't be nice if AZ voted for OBAMA? I know I will!!!

Spencer from VA   August 28th, 2008 1:36 pm ET

So true Joe. But there are other republican states that will be turning blue. My state of Virginia will definitely be blue this time around. Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton will bring us PA in November.

Obama/Biden 08

caywen   August 28th, 2008 1:36 pm ET

Obama is the lines of the picture, and Biden will be the color.

cmoore   August 28th, 2008 1:36 pm ET

No, Obama can't win without Clinton. He lost when he chose Biden.

Chi4Obama   August 28th, 2008 1:35 pm ET

Hey PA,
Let's remember a simple Math lesson:

BUSH = MCCAIN; MCCAIN = BUSH.

Johnny   August 28th, 2008 1:35 pm ET

Well Biden, you sure don't help the cause. You are the weakest VP pick since Dole picked Kemp. You don't bring a state or any voters, unlike Hillary Clinton. If you want to save your name from being the VP who helped Obama lose, step down now and let Hillary take your spot.

Chi4Obama   August 28th, 2008 1:34 pm ET

I'm a hard-core Democrat. But let's get real. PA, by itself, will not decide the race.

How about focusing on the 2 most crucial states that determined the last 2 outcomes (in '00, and '04).

Those would happen to be OH, and FL. These 2 states will determine our next President.

Enlightened Voter   August 28th, 2008 1:34 pm ET

I live in PA, we have registerd thousands of new democrats. We will win pa. And people quit with the no experience thing, they (the repuglicans) said the same thing about Clinton….GWB had experience….Obama has 8 yrs as Illionois Senator and 4 as US Senator. Someone on another blog said he only had 1 yr as senator period which is a LIE! Get your facts straight morons before you try and tear Obama down. BTW john mcsurge has never run a city, state or anything so what experience does he have honestly?

Voter   August 28th, 2008 1:33 pm ET

Perhaps long flowing robes with a fan trained on him – Charlton Heston images in smokey lighting…a huge lightning bolt just before he enters…a chariot drawn by black and white horses (get it??)…or drummers, ala the Beijing opening ceremonies…hoisting Michelle to walk around the top edge of the stadium………..

the possibilities are endless……it's only money – your money, Citibank's money, but who's counting?

Karen Raleigh   August 28th, 2008 1:33 pm ET

The Cecil de Mille is a copy of the Lincoln Memorial where Martin Luther King spoke–its the anniversary of his speech. McCain didnt get that either-makes a person question his intelligence and judgement dont you think???????? YES WE CAN

Surrealist, Fort Myers   August 28th, 2008 1:31 pm ET

Biden needs to speak a little slower–and let his lips catch up to his brain.

Chi4Obama   August 28th, 2008 1:31 pm ET

I think Obama and Biden complement each other perfectly.

Obama is younger, a bit cooler, and the more cerebral of the two. He is great at appealing to many of the "latte sipping" intelectual types, and pretty much anyone under the age of 35.

Biden has tons of experience, and is definately the more straightforward talker of the two. He is great for appealing to the typical "blue collar", or middle of the road wht American.

Together, they are a perfect blend of youth and experience.

I don't see how McCAin and the GOP will have a chance in November.

tim   August 28th, 2008 1:31 pm ET

I swear, McCain is the lowest and most disgusting person alive.

Don't we teach our kids not to lie… McCain must have missed that day.

Throttle on him, Obama!

Steve, Madison WI   August 28th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

Smear and fear – c'mon Repugs – is that all ya got? Let's talk issues – oops, you lose!

Michael   August 28th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

Well, then you're not going to win, Senator. Pennsylvanians in the main loath Barack Obama.

Judy from PA   August 28th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

Obama/Biden will win PA, just like John Kerry and Al Gore did.

John   August 28th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

Sounds like Biden already jinxed their bid by saying they can't win without PA.

Amy   August 28th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

Well, that is McCain's choice to attack Obama at this very moment night, In the future US history book, our new generation will learn how America, this great country, has crossed the big mile stone, at same time, how McCain painted this history moment to a gray, nasty color

no one to vote for   August 28th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

Mr. Biden, Hopefully your moderation will rub off on Mr. Cliche. I called your office during the Robert's hearings to give you info about Hitchcock's North by Northwest, a subtext of how America is drenched in fascism through the unopened eyes of the spectator. The history of cinema and staging broke into trajectories that hovered over those that make artifice and those that examine it and its affect on making fascist spectators. Happy you noticed Obama chose the path of cinema that made the artificial. This is what I wrote but the moderators are not posting, maybe they do not understand.

BIG CEASER PALACE DORIC COLUMNS
Thank goodness someone else noticed the gaudy ostentatious set for Obama. As clichéd as he, the Caesar’s Palace like Doric columns rage with the idiocy of his cult like campaign. The over doneness of their fakery, their counterfeit, their bogusness, matches the use of a football set for his crazed spectators. Another sign that the right and left unconscious imaging machines have blurred, merged into the display the spectator will rapture in tonight as they do with the poverty of Hollywood movies, not the intelligence of cinema that would critique this. No change, simply quicksand for the idiocy of America. It is so depressing.

Cindy from Georgia   August 28th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

McCain was wrong, Obama is right, Biden is Great! Keep telling it like it is.

Obama-Biden 08

Obama/Biden 08

Debby   August 28th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

Yep your right Joe and if Hillary was VP the Dems. wouldn't have to worry about PA. now would they? No one remembers you in Scranton and 1972 was decades ago. LOL

Pepou   August 28th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

We will win. For the first time since I came to this country in 1971 I am really proud of it ! It is a historic time tonight when Barack Obama becomes the first Afro-American candidate. We should all be proud.

Ben (New York) Hillary 2012   August 28th, 2008 1:28 pm ET

You idiots….you can't win period without Hilary!!!!!

Obama's biggest show of his already monumental lack of experienece (and now knowledge) was not putting the most popular
Democrat Hillary Clinton on the ticket.

And now its 4 more years of Republican rule.

Honest Abe   August 28th, 2008 1:28 pm ET

I hope Pennsylvania (my home state) wakes up (i'm from Calif. now). Come on people, let's win this election.

Enlightened Voter   August 28th, 2008 1:28 pm ET

Russia's president accused the US of encouraging Georgia in this conflict to benefit a presidential candidate (mccain). Here is the thing, mccains' own campaign advisor let slip this exact sort of thing a month or two ago. Also one of mccain's advisors received $200,000 from Georgia recently for lobbyists activities. We all know the repuglicans are very capable of doing this and I wholeheartedly believe they did. I put nothing past them. They blatantly lied about Iraq . The question is are those 54 million people still dumb? Or have they finally woken up?

Marc   August 28th, 2008 1:27 pm ET

No kidding…. It'll be McCain in November!

Sue   August 28th, 2008 1:27 pm ET

I believe they will win Pa, Michigan and Ohio! Come on people, it is our time- get out and vote for the party that isfor the people, not big government and corporations!

Biden you are lovely but you need to tone down Mr. Hubris. The Cecil B. De Mille set is overwhelmingly ostentatious. Did Las Vegas moved to Denver? From the McMansions that broke America in territory as well as the idiotic side of Hollywood, both take up too much space in the minds of the uniformed spectator. Obama, don’t you need to keep your hubris in some kind of check? Locking yourself in the gaudiness of capitalism is not change and it is surely not ecological. You will look like a LITTERBUG under those too big forged columns.

Tim   August 28th, 2008 1:26 pm ET

It's nothing we didn't already know, but Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has accused the United States of orchestrating the conflict in Georgia to benefit one of the presidential election candidates. Wonder who he is talking about? Bush and McCain, that’s who!!! Why else would the White House not tell McCain, who was not (and will never be) the President to but out of a dangerous conflict in which he spoke before the sitting President?

Voter   August 28th, 2008 1:26 pm ET

Looks like all systems are go, and that Obama, what a guy!

Even TCM is scheduling appropriate films: The Greatest Story Ever Told followed by Ben Hur!
And can’t help but note the similarity of the Invesco Stadium to the Bird’s Nest in Beijing.

The whole thing is kind of creepy – waiting for Obama to show up with a little moustache…

Tony   August 28th, 2008 1:25 pm ET

WAKE UP PENNSYLVANIA!

Vote Democrat or don't whine about the next four years.
