(CNN) — John McCain’s presidential campaign has decided not to reveal the name of his running mate until Friday, a senior McCain source tells CNN.

McCain will appear in Ohio tomorrow with his vice presidential pick.

“This is Barack Obama’s night,” said the source.

Yeah, cause to reveal he or she tonight would by like urinating in the wind. Nothing McCain says tonight can overshadow what the DNC just did on national television.

Obama 08/12   August 29th, 2008 2:41 am ET

Gee who could care about his choice for vp /he was going back and forth he knew /he never knew tryis to get focus off Obama but the funny part was/ and is who cares and who was watching McWar ?
This VP person must just want to see their name on vp list as McWar isn't going anywhere unless its back to Arizona or to one of his "13″ houses and "13″ tables .
Mark my word /I never said read my lips I recall hearing that Republican lie.

The first decent thing I've heard from McCain this campaign.

annie   August 29th, 2008 1:24 am ET

At least McCain knows how many states are in the country he is trying to represent (congratulations to Obama who claimed to have been to 57 states with a few more to go, you've found the lost states!) and McCain is not afraid to say he stands by America unlike Obama who refuses to put his hand on his heart during the national anthem because he doesn't want to take sides in international affairs and possibly offend other nations! Political views aside I can't vote for someone who says he doesn't want to take sides with America, the country he is trying to lead!!!

Scorpio   August 29th, 2008 1:15 am ET

Whoever his VP willbe , they can't defeat Obama

What is this, the millionth post on here about George Bush the third announcing his VP selecton on Friday?
They're still gonna lose, so he could wait till the second Tuesday of November and it wouldn't mean jack

To Hillary Supporters:

I was a Hillary supporter (and still love the woman to death). But now's the time to switch gears and vote Obama. I hate hearing staunch Clinton supporters ranting about how they won't vote or will even vote for McCain.
Just remember: If you vote for McCain—you will be voting AGAINST the very policies that Hillary supports. That means you only supported Hillary because of her person, which is no reason at all to support someone.

Also: A VOTE FOR MCCAIN IS A VOTE AGAINST WOMEN.

Brad   August 29th, 2008 12:26 am ET

The only really intelligent man that has thrown his hat in for president is Romney. Those of you that have been doing your own "vetting" would shocked at this guy's background in economics and administrative genius…..

If you cheat on your wife who waited for you while you were in the Hanoi Hilton does that make you a gentleman? If you leave here because she was in a horrible accident and doesn't look the same physically does that make you a gentleman? If you marry a woman with whom you are having an adulterous affair with does that make you a gentleman? Where does the famous "Republican Values" come into play here? Just curious.

Ken   August 28th, 2008 11:55 pm ET

Who cares ? This man does not have a Chance anyway. Not one original idea. His "My friends" that he starts every sentence with is from Ronald Regan. The "Celebrity" Ronald Regan. Same OLD politics of the PAST. Which he represents SO WELL ! He will take his place in History as the man who ran for the Presidency (How many times?). Barak Obama will take his place in History as the Next President of The United States Of America.

Christian, Tampa FL   August 28th, 2008 11:53 pm ET

I may be fighting my hardest on my university campus to defeat McCain, but today, I say God bless him and I offer my sincere thanks for his congratulatory ad and his decision not to announce his VP pick. Thank you Senator McCain and I look forward to a spirited campaign.

You Obama supporters have to get over your nastiness. Its like a sickness with you people. Did you all learn this from Michelle.

ricardo williams   August 28th, 2008 11:47 pm ET

Yeah McCain. It won't work. We don't care. You and George Bush are the same. If you were different your ads would have shown the difference, but instead all you do is attabk Obama, Show how your term will be different from George Bush and stop the dirty politics of old. And by the way Obama made his VP pick into a reality show. Please don't imitate him?

Michael Ray Thompson   August 28th, 2008 11:34 pm ET

Hello, RJ,
Well the Democrats have made their choice. Republicans will soon verify John McCain as their nominee. I think it's clear. John McCain is a national hero. Barak Obama is a one-term Senator. Is there really a comparison?

Demo's not even following Obama's lead???   August 28th, 2008 11:33 pm ET

As an undecided voter currently, from reading all these blogs and hearing 80% of Democratic hatefullness to anyone and everyone over absolutley anything or any which way anything turns out is pushing me away from the Democratic Party. I don't have to blame or attack anyone to make my opinion of an issue. I think it's pathetic!! I "BELIEVE" in myself therefore do not need to be down right ruthless. I "HOPE" you Democrats on these blogs learn by example from your Nominee and quickly "CHANGE" your behavior!

Ernie   August 28th, 2008 11:28 pm ET

Rebecca, Condi Rice has been the most useless person in Washington. (Chaney a very close second). Condi takes all of these "Vacations" to the Middle East and comes back and says something stupid like "There needs to be peace in the Middle East." No S–T.

Republican for Obama   August 28th, 2008 11:20 pm ET

Lack of originality, no suspense builder. What's up with this xerox. McCains veep choice, Mitt Romney, will have no consequence in the long run.

Obama-Biden 2008

Roy Cone   August 28th, 2008 11:09 pm ET

Barry failed to hit a home run. Sure, the Dems are happy. But independent and undecided voters will not be persuaded by his speech. McCain should play it safe with Pawlenty, although it would really be bold for him to go with a conservative governor who has executive branch experience and little attackable baggage, like Palin or Jindal.

aaron   August 28th, 2008 11:03 pm ET

McCain McCain he's our man - he believes we the people are worth nothing more than a spit in the pan.

A woman for McCain   August 28th, 2008 11:00 pm ET

Not one person that answers questions on behalf of NO-bama can honestly say what experience this man has that qualifies him to run the oval office. I will say that he is a far better speaker than Bush, but then so is my 11-year old daughter. We do not need a man that can preach! The next thing you'll hear out of him is that he promises free ice cream during lunch period.

aaron   August 28th, 2008 11:00 pm ET

come on McCain - choose your wife -

fred   August 28th, 2008 10:59 pm ET

to all those of you who say "Who cares" You are pretty much saying, who cares who our next leader is." Are you guys maybe a little bit too arrogant to think that possibly Obama won't be the next president. You guys claim that you thought Hillary was arrogant cuz she thought the nomination would easily be hers. Well what is the difference? Now you think Obama has the easy ride. What if you're wrong? If you guys would be a little more mature and actually care about who the candidates are, then maybe we would have a better congress, and a better America. Maybe if we were a little more positive about things, then we would be happier. Tonight isn't about Obama. If we think it is, then we are stupid. Ask Obama if tonight is about him. I guarantee he will say no. He wants to do good for the country, and so does McCain. So give them both a break, because we all make mistakes. Look at where they stand on the issues, and make your decision as to who will govern better based on the issues.

tired of insults   August 28th, 2008 10:55 pm ET

All dems., rep. and ind. stop the mudsliging and actually try to argue your point of view and try to convince them you are right. insulting will get us no where. Just all of you be glad That We are THE ONLY nation that lets you do that, if you talked about that to China's dictator, you would be dead. No questions asked.

Brett   August 28th, 2008 10:55 pm ET

Well I guess CNN (along with rest of Media Conglomerates) have voted OBAMA our next Prez! Too bad McCain doesnt get the same good "press time".

BK   August 28th, 2008 10:51 pm ET

There's a bit contrast for you. Obama reveals his VP pick as soon as he makes it to his supporters while McCain politicizes it to get more coverage and distract from other things.

McCain all the way!   August 28th, 2008 10:43 pm ET

I care and I m waiting McCain! I am so excited…..I bet I know who it is! YIPPIE!!!!!!

WHY ARE YOU STILL REPORTING THESE NON-STORIES ABOUT McCAIN'S PENDING ANNOUNCEMENT?

It's outrageous.

Dan   August 28th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

To Hillary supporters who will vote McCain:

Deep down (or maybe not so deep), it is about race. Hillary and Barack, from a policy perspective are indistinguishable. You simply cannot stand by as an African American takes the spotlight. Go ahead, vote McCain, whose policies are the anti-thesis of Hillary.

Thanks for posting that article dad&daughterbloggers. I could hardly believe my eyes when I read the McCain "Policy" and point of view on this subject.

Then again the only think I have heard McCain say about public health care is this 'don't get sick if you can't afford it'

Joshua College Station Texas   August 28th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

Translation: we thought we could compete by making the announcement, but now we realize we can't even come close, so let's not try.

dad&daughterbloggers   August 28th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

Does it really matter. Hopefully whom ever he choses is smarter than his economic and health care advisors.

For those of you voting for McCain, check this out:
(CNN) – A health care policy adviser for the McCain campaign told a newspaper reporter that nobody in the United States is technically uninsured, because everyone has access to hospital emergency rooms.

"So I have a solution [to the health care crisis]. And it will cost not one thin dime," John Goodman, president of the National Center for Policy Analysis, told the Dallas Morning News in an interview published Thursday.

"The next president of the United States should sign an executive order requiring the Census Bureau to cease and desist from describing any American – even illegal aliens – as uninsured. Instead, the bureau should categorize people according to the likely source of payment should they need care. So, there you have it. Voila! Problem solved."

Hospital emergency rooms cannot technically turn away anyone for financial reasons.

"So instead of producing worthless statistics that people fling around in vacuous editorials and pointless debates, the Census Bureau should produce meaningful numbers, identifying all of the sources of funds people will draw on if they need medical care," said Goodman, who helped write McCain’s health care plan.

That plan would use a combination of tax incentives and market competition to make health care more affordable. It is not a universal health care plan – it does not guarantee insurance coverage for every American.

Cupper   August 28th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

Gentleman?

That he turned his back on his wife after she was seriously injured in a car
accident, committed adultery, and left the mother of his children when he
found a younger, wealthier woman.

Hmmm… nice "gentleman".

McCain also insisted he¹d been divorced for months before remarrying. That
wasn¹t true, either. (In fact, the LAT reported, ³McCain obtained an Arizona
marriage license on March 6, 1980, while still legally married to his first
wife.²)

What is in bama ?   August 28th, 2008 10:07 pm ET

Obama and his buddies have captured this nomination by dumping Hillary. This is a FACT, and will go in history books.

I still remember the primaries how he failed to recognize President Clinton's work and efforts made for African-Americans, and labelled Prez Clinton a racist.

Opportunist as Obama is, he himself made failed judgement all his life, and now again by picking old Washington politican Biden thinking Biden will help, but I do not think so.

Kathy   August 28th, 2008 10:03 pm ET

Let's have a debate on a bridge here in Minneapolis/St. Paul with BIden and Pawlenty and see who is left standing. If Pawlenty is the vp choice of McCain you can bet Minnesota will go to the Democrats. Pawlenty has only brought division, bad management, and yes broken down bridges and schools to a state that prides itself on being progressive and caring.

Adam   August 28th, 2008 10:03 pm ET

For all the young people out there who don't realize that politicians lie, well, let me say it again.

Politicians do whatever they can to get into office.

Obama says he will change change change. Which is odd, because he is no different than any other liberal wing Democrat.

At least McCain is an honorable man.

We know who he chose. We don't care.
The fact that Bush and Cheney showed absolutely NO RESPECT
for the People that voted for them, tells me that McCain will be no
different.

Unlike what the Republicans would like us to believe THE Movie
Stars, famous people, and talented entertainers of our time are part of who we are as Americans.
and the fact that they took their time to come out and stand up for
what they believe in is exciting to me as an American.

Thank you Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, Oprah, Madonna, John Legend, Stevie Wonder!Caroline Kennedy, Maria Shriver I think Matt Damon. These people are
so important to the Democratic Race for Obama.

The Republicans, including Bush, want to shut them up and brainwash us to believe these celebrities are not important!!!
Bull–it.!!!!! Yes they are and I thank them for being there for us
who need them!!!! Thank You. I will be looking for more of you.
Please, let us hear your voice.

Ben Affleck will be in politics someday. I think that is his wish
and he would be great!!!! Ben was campaigning with Kerry when
Kerry ran for Pres. and I will never forget him for that.
